I love this guitar, not sure when it was made, i know it was made in korea. It has 24 frets with 1 volume knob and 1 tone knob, with a 5 way selector. I bought it used so it was modded when i bought it, the bridge has a dimarzio Dp102 X2N in it, the middle has a Fender Red Lace Sensor, and i never did figure out what the neck was, but it sounds awsome on clean. Its got a Floyd Rose and locking tuners, i like the neck a lot, its thin and i think the frets might be jumbo frets, i love them, i got mine in jewel blue, it came with a gig bag too.

Sound : 10
This guitar is good for any kind of music except for maybe jazz, i can play anything from blink 182 to death, and anything between. I play stuff like cKy, they are my favorite band, but i can also play stuff like SRV, and clapton with it. I play it through a Digitech RP100 and a Peavey Rage 158 amp. Its got a good sound with the bridge pickup, but i know it wasnt stock too. I like the whammy bar on it, i use it all of the time, i also love the neck, its thin, i believe its a wizard 2 neck. other than the dings i have in it, i have no dislikes about this guitar

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The pickups were adjusted great, i did however have to get the neck re-adjusted a few weeks after i bought it, but the guy told me it was from humidity, I did buy it with a few dings in it, but it doesnt bother me at all, you have to get really close to even notice them, everything is great

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar could withstand anything, you could drop it out of a 3 story window, and it would still sound great. The finish looks great, looks like it will last forever, the frets seem to be wearing a little though, nothing too serious, i would use this guitar with no other backup in a gig, i could depend on this guitar anywhere

Customer Support : No Opinion
i never dealt with ibanez

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 2 years, and this is a great guitar, i used to own a squier strat, so obviously this was a HUGE upgrade, i also purchased a fender fat strat, so that i can tune down with songs, i love everything about this guitar, if it was stolen or lost i would probably cry because this guitar is modded, and it would take an insane amount of money to fix a stock 470 up again...

When buying this, I looked for 10/10 features. That is, 2 humbuckers and a single coil, lock floyd with good fine tuners, 24 frets, and a Wizard type neck. Add to this, a comfortable body and neck lock. This one has all of the above.

Sound : 9
Mine is made in Korea and has the Infinity series pick ups INF1, INFS, and INF2 which sound better than the Vintage set up. It sounds great for Progressive metal and has found a perfect companion in the VGA7 amp by Roland. Sometimes the clean sound get a bit too punchy as the action is set to very low and the high distortion can get a bit too unitonal on the bottom E strings 1-5 fret. Otherwise it is generally great!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is fantastic, really low and fully adjustable. Great finish too. It has a finish flaw, a big bloth of black pain on the headstock, but I think it makes it special. Otherwise, perfect, in every sense of the word.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have had it for a long time now (8 years of more) and after I had it for a month, the neck went all bent and the frets went bad. I took it to get fixed by a pro and it has been absolutely perfect since. Only one thing, the strap button broke last month, but this guitar has been used every day for over 8 years, so, compared with my other guitars, it's bloody great!

Overall Rating : 10
For its price, this has been a truely awesome guitar. The wizard neck is superb and after a couple of teething problems, this guitar has been perfect for my Dream Theater type playing for the last 8 years. Honestly, I can't think of anything negative to say about it. And it's finish is like new still. It's my main and best guitar by a long shot. Though, I am saving up for a Jem...

I don't mnow what year it was made, but I'm guessing 2002.. Japan was where it was made.. Says on the back of the headstock.. This purple metal flake color.. Locking TRS trem, HSH pickups.. etc.. 25 1/2" scale.. Rosewood board, maple neck, very thin.. Called wizzard or something I guess.. The pickups are kinda lame.. That's the only thing I can find wrong with this guitar.. Just not enough output for me.. but I'm used to EMG's and Duncan Distortions,etc..

Sound : 8
It's ok.. I wish it had more output and wasn't as muddy.. Not that it's bad.. For most begginers, etc, these pickups will work fine.. Just my style I guess. but I like pickups with loads of output and then I can tame the guitar from there.. with volume and tone knobs, etc.. It can do blues really well and rock.. but I don't know that you could call it a metal guitar without a really heavy duty gain type amp or ton's of effects, etc.. I don't use anything but a DS1 Distortion and a peavey classic 30 watt amp.. so it's not going to set the world on fire, but for the price who cares..

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Very good.. I adjusted it to my taste, but from the factory I have to say it was set up pretty good..

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'd say it's very reliable, but with a floyd you'd want to have a backup.. as you can break a string of course.. who made up these questions man..

Customer Support : 1
I guess they suck.. I've written them 2 times now and no response yet..

Overall Rating : 8
Nice guitar. Really.. Get teh jap version though!~

Made in Japan. not sure what year. all passive H/S/H pups with master volume, master tone and a 5-way selector. licenced floyd rose ibanez lo-TRS bridge. nice thin wizard II neck, 25.5" scale with 24 jumbo frets. Quite a light basswood strat shaped body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and descent strap buttons.

Sound : 7
I usually play Heavy/extreme metal or prog rock, and sometimes blues.
This guitar suits everythink fairly well but is better for metal.
my setup is: RG 470 -> Zoom GFX8 -> AVT275 combo amp and it sounds good. cleans are not so good but with distortion it rocks, although the pups can be a little noisy. The Bridge pup is a little thin sounds quite brittle and is med/high output, the neck pup has the nicest sound, great for lead stuff, can sound muddy for rythem though and is lower output than the bridge pup. the mid pup is a generic single coil, nothing special. Positions 2 and 4 are fairly quiet. overall not bad for stock pups, soon im gonna replace them with a PAF Pro in the neck and a Tone Zone in the bridge, that should fatten the bridge, boost the ouput and make the guitar kick-ass

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The setup was ok when i got it. had to re-level the bridge and the intonation when i upped the strings to my usuall guage, sinse then it plays and feels awesome, i love the neck :) all the hardware is good quiality and doesnt create any noise when used and the finish on the guitar was spotless, although i have dinked it once or twice it still looks good.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have used this guitar live many times, always with a backup because if the floyd rose, and it has performed great. Good solid build quality, could definatly take a beating. the hardware is all good and the jack plug feels solid, the strap button are made so you dont really need locking strap buttons but they occasionally loosen. i feel i could gig with this no problem without a backup, but i like to have one just in case.

Customer Support : No Opinion
havent dealt with them

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 6 years, this is my second guitar although i did look at a lot of other guitars before buying this one. I really like the fell of this guitar, the neck is really good, the body is nice and light and it looks awesome. once i have the pickups changed it will rule. although in retrospect i should have saved a little more and got a RG5XX or higher because of the cheap Lo-TRS Bridge. the higher ones have an ibanez Edge bridge which is much better, also you get the even thiner Wizard neck. if this guitar were stolen id save and get an RG5XX for the bridge and the neck, but id still change the pups, either that or id get a Maverick guitar. for the price this is an outstanding guitar :)

first of all, the style of music i play is mainly Rock and classic Rock, and some soft clean stuff occasionally... some of the artists i like are Satriani, Vai, Metallica, Incubus, Fuel, Live... so i wanted a guitar that could deliver sounds similar to the tone of the above artists...

my RG470 is a Japanese one, i dunno when it was made. It has a pretty thin 24 fret neck which has a rosewood fingerboard, basswood double cutaway body, HSH pickup system, master tone n master volume knobs, floyd-rose birdge...
the neck is beautiful... just rite for me...

Sound : 5
the combination of the woods is pretty good, but the pickups lack expression... running it straight into the amp with no effects... the clean tone of the neck split with the middle is SWEET, i really like it with a splash of chorus... the rest of the cleans aren't that special... the dirty tone isn't bad... the pickups react well when turning the tone or the volume down to change the sounds... the Neck pickup is warm, but not hot :( and the bridge is Hot and bright. its a little edgey (the bridge tone) and not really good for too much, but you can dial the highs down a bit from the amp or volume/tone knobs depending on the sound you want.
ALL of the pickups are BLOODY NOISY !!
so i'm replacing the pickups with the DiMarzio PAF Pro in the Neck, Evolution in the Bridge... that outta make it an awesome guitar!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
the action is great... nice n low... the finish is perfect too... mine is purple with glitter that looks great under lights...

Reliability/Durability : 3
the bridge sux... i hate it... you can't be Vai with this bridge, no way... but even the soft light movements are hard to pull off with this bridge because of the screw in arm!! because it always rattled, the bending of the notes never sounded smooth through the amp...the trem has a screw-in arm which cut the threads inside the trem block so now it slides in and slides out!! with no torque control... i'm gonna replace that too!!
that's the only thing i don't like hardware-wise...
but the guitar can take a beating... performin? yeah its reliable... it won't explode n burn up on ya...

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them...

Overall Rating : 8
this a great guitar if you're just starting out, which is when i brought it. and at the time i thought it was f!@#$ing brilliant... although i have criticised some features of the guitar, i still love it, which is why i am investing in improving it... it's just the bridge and pickups that i don't like anymore...
This is an extremely flexible guitar!! it has a thin SWEET neck, light comfortable body, sweet clean sound which the Neck Pickup split with the middle - its not a Fender - but if you want a fender tone... buy a Fender!!... the dirty tone isn't half bad either...
but as always, as your playing gets better, this guitar starts to become inadequate in some areas, or your taste simply might change... and as you learn more about the guitar physically, you started to develope your own preferances which might be different to waht you have on the guitar.
but to me... this is always gonna be my learning guitar, the Ax that started it all... its good for experimenting n learning...
If you are a beginner?? get this guitar!! there isn't a better guitar for learning that i've seen...
if you've got the chops or are an experienced guitarist who knows what you want SPECIFICALLLY in every department... you might wanna check the higher models, or just change the things you don't like with this one if you've already bought it... like me...
cheerz!

HSH puck-ups with 5 way selector offers 5 distinct sounds. 24 jumbo frets. The double locking Floyd Rose type tremlo is excellent. Wizard II insanely thin neck. Uses V7, S1, and V8 pickups with plenty of punch, warmth and bite. Superstrat body. Mine has the Titatium Ice finish.

Sound : 10
As a metal/rock player, this guitar is perfect for me. The bridge pickup has outstanding crunch, bite and scream while the other 4 pickup positions offer other tonal qualities from warm to twangy.
This guitar is noise-free, even with the single coil pickup in use.
Depending on the pickup selection, this guitar can produce a full, rich sound or a bitingly bright one. Excellent range of sounds.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action was set up perfectly when I bought it. I was able to jump on it as soon as I got it home. Stays in tune even affect heavy tremlo use. Finish is flawless. The selector and knobs all feel solid. No complaints here.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have had Ibanez guitars in the past and found them to be extremely reliable. This one is no different. I would gig with it without worrying about a backup (except for alternate tunings). Nice finish.
The only complaint I have had with Ibanez in general is that the strap buttonsme loosen themselves. This guitar has not experienced it, though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've had no need to contact Ibanez as the guiter has been trouble-free.

Overall Rating : 10
I have 6 other guitars from Ibanez, Fender, and BC Rich. The RG470 is the most versatile of the lot. If I had to, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Made in Japan. 24 frets. Solid Top. One volume knob , one tone knob. 5 way tone selector. Pickups are stock pickups. Basswood body. Finish gloss. Superstrat shape. Floy Rose liscensed ibanez lo-trs bridge. Locking tuner. Thin neck, rosewood. Included alan keys.

Sound : 8
Very rock. Which is my style. I listen to lots of rock bands like GnR n all, and also a lot of jrock bands. I use it with metalzone n a crybaby orginal. The sound is okay, but the metalzone kinda ruins the orgrinal guitar tone. But otherwise This guitar is way cool. But the stock pickups suck. Very little sustain on the note with the pickup.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The aciton was perfect. Not too high, not too low. The pickups were okay though i seriously consider changing them when i have the money. Everyhting is properly adjusted andi have no problems whatsoever> The Finish is excellent. Which is expected of japan made guitars

Reliability/Durability : 10
I gigged without backup using dis axe and it didnt fail me. The hardware sure seems solid. No need for strap locks. A plus fact is the guitar is light, good for lonnng gigs when ur shoulders can get tired easily.

Didnt have to. NO warranty. Hey I live in Singapore, and the warranty doesnt cover here.

Ive been playing for bout 2 yrs. This is my 1st good axe. I absoulutely love it. I got it at a steal. If someone stole my axe i'd porbably have to quit playing guitar for a yr or two just o save up to buy another one.
