I believe this is a late 2001 model as the serial number is an F(for Fugijen factory followed by an 01 and there are 5 more digits following(F01XXXXX). This is a 24-fret neck. It seems to be an alder body. My RG470XL has a dark bronze metallic finish.

There's a 5-way switch for standard strat switching and there's one volume and one tone and the pickup configuration is HSH, a V7 pup in the neck, an S1 in the middle and a V8 in the bridge.
These pickups are stock and they sound as good as any Ibanez stock pickups I've heard. They're passive electronics.

The neck wood is maple, it is a Wiard II long neck. The fretboard is dark rosewood and it has pearloid dot inlays in all the standard places. The body wood as I said is probably alder, but don't quote me on it.

This has a metallic finish solid dark bronze color. The headstock is black with a silver mirror-finish Ibanez logo.
This is an RG-series guitar. It has a truss-rod cover that has an xl on it that denotes 27inch scale.
This has a floyd-rose style Ibanez Lo TRS trem with locking nut(but the locks are MIA, I bought this guitar used).
The neck is one of the best parts of the guitar! It is a 27 inch scale. That seems long. But I couldn't tell without holding it up to another guitar that it was any longer. It is ultra thin, and very fast. Bends aren't as easy, though.
I was lucky to get it with a gigbag, it was purchased at a pawn shop.

I am a hobbyist but I still appreciate a nice guitar. And my technique is lacking, especially on longer scale guitars. But I like the versatility of this guitar for the different sounds you can get on it.
And the neck while slightly longer(about 4%) is thin, and rigid, and I found it EASIER to fret than many other long-scale guitars.

The pickups have a nice vintage tone to them and there are many sounds you can get, from shred-metal, to Jazz, to twang. The guitar has a classic look to it too. RGs have been out long enough now for the body style to be considered classic. The trem allows for bends and all kinds of cool vibrato/surf sounds as well. This guitar sounds INCREDIBLE!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action needed tweaking when I got it but it was well played, and had various dings on the sides and along the bridge cavity. Therefore it is impossible to say how it was setup at the factory. But after I worked with the spring tension and action, this guitar flies! It is comfortable and one of my current favorites. There is no way you wouldn't like the feel of the guitar. The paint is solid so the top is just part of the body. The fretwire is excellent, tremendous quality. Made in Japan. Ibanez Japan. It doesn't get much better than that.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Are you kidding? This guitar HAS withstood live playing, and it could take alot more. The former owner removed the lock on the nut but the neck is perfect, the wood strong, no micro-cracks in the neck or on the body, no signs of undue stress, etc. This guitar could gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never Dealt with Ibanez. No warranty.

I've been playing on and off for 10 years. I own a couple of Les Pauls from the 70's, an Ampeg V-4 halfstack, a 70's Fender P-bass, and some studio gear including a WIZ16:2 mixer, and an AKAI MPC 1000. Oh, and I play drums, I have a set of Ludwig Mod Orange and some zildjian cymbals and a Fibes snare.

I think I asked everything I should have they thought it was an RG 270, and didn't notice the scale. If it weren't for the scale I would have sold this guitar, without much fanfare, but it has demanded more of my attention for its uniqueness, and has paid off with nice tones and memories playing, remember I play Les Pauls which are 24.75" scale. So I know what I'm saying when I state that this longer scale has all the benefits without the drawbacks(perhaps it's the flatter neck?).

It didn't come with the whammy bar. I wish I had it. I have put a Squire strat whammy in it which fits loosely, but a real Ibanez bar would be nice.

I would keep eyes peeled for another if it were lost.

2002, 24 Fret, 27inch Wizard II neck, Jumbo Frets, Vintage 7 and 8 Humbuckers in the Bridge and Neck positions. With a S1 single Coil in the middle. 5 way switch, One tone, one Volume knobe. Floyd Rose Low Tres Tremelo.

Body made from Basewood, Maple Bolt on Neck.

Sound : 9
The Vintage 7 Bridge pickup will kick out some awsome lead stuff, and the V8 in the neck gives a nice blues sound to it on low Gain settings. Dont care a lot for the thin sound of the single coil but if you kick it and the V8 on at the same time you get a pretty decent clean sound out of it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The Action was decent from the factory but I droped the bridge some myself to make it play a little smoother. It isnt as fast as my Les Paul Custom, but it has the frets shaved down so thats understandable. The Low Tres is a free Floating Tremelo so its a real pain if you change the size of strings your using. I had to run the screws nearly all the way in to get a set of Zakk Wylde Boomers to go on it. But other than that its pretty nice. Never had any problems with it ever coming out of tune once the strings are good and stretched. And I useally leave the E and A strings unlocked to make it easier to go to drop D.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Its a nice guitar for stage playing because its so light. But the finish isnt very think and is pretty easy to scratch up. But if you take good care of it you should be fine. Mine has a few nicks in it but nothing extremely major.

It doesnt have a bad habit of blowing strings so its pretty reliable to play without a backup on stage. Unless you are really beating on the Flyod Rose a lot.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to bother with Customer Support, no real problems with it yet and I have had it over a year now.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing about 8 years now, also own a Series 10 with an after market Floyd Rose dropped on it. And a highly tweaked Les Paul Custom (Shaved Fret Board, Seymour Duncan Pickups).

I would definantly try and replace this guitar if anything happened to it. Its be best one I own in my opinion.

One of the main reasons I ended up buying this model is because I looked at the Ibanez Jem series for years. And just couldnt afford to pay the heavy price tag for it. So I settled for one I could afford, but I ended up more than happy with that results.

Overall its a great buy if you are not made of money but want a guitar that can stand up to a lot of heavy playing. The RG470XL is more than worth its price tag.

2001, 27 inch Scale, 24 Fret, Wizard II Neck, Classic Ibanez V P/Us H/S/H, Floyd Rose.. Volume Knob, Tone Knob.. For a No Frills Mid-Line guitar it's great

Sound : 10
THIS GUITAR SOUNDS AWESOME! - My band and I mostly play AMERICAN METAL .. COC, DOWN etc.. and we detuned with the best of them. I was just playing this thing through a Digitech 2101 and a Peavey Tube Rack Mount and it sounded like Slayer.. But with the band I play a Rectifier. I'm not sure, But I think GOD just shit his pants. It's not just a mean guitar either, it can play super smooth, jazzy Sh*t and even some wild sweeps ALA Ywig-ding.. But it was built to be detuned.. SO, PLAY IT LOAD!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
HMM I'm giving it a 10 anyway... but the Actions a little high.. However, I was spoiled cause I was playing an old Les Paul Custom.. The Floyd is a little tight.. but Again going from a Paul to a Floyd takes some adjusting... I sure with a little wear and tear it will loosen up and falldown when I'm done playing thoughs crazy horse sounds and wild squeelie harmonics.. you can't do that with a standard bridge.. I read in a review for the 7 string XL that said the length of the neck took some getting use to.. This guys was playing 25 1/2 inch scale Ibanez.. I was playing a 24 1/2 inch Paul and I don't think so.. It's awesome... It's a BAD ASS NECK..

Reliability/Durability : 10
Had it a week.. It's gonna last til I smash it.. -- Really, if you don't understand how to adjust a Floyd, your gonna have problems..

Customer Support : 10
I bought it from www.indoorstorm.com.. They rock.. DAVE is the man.. great deal, packed up excellent and it came a day early.. Thanks Dave.. Ibanez probably sucks.. How cares.. I'll fix it myself..

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 10 years.. I've had .hmm. lets see. I few Gisbons, SG and Pauls, an Old Mockingbird, Hamer Cali., a really rare Takamine Electric I wish I still had.. and a handfull of really sh*tty guitars.. I love this guitar.. I'm buying another, just incase it gets stolen if I can find one. I do wish Ibanez had Prestige version of this one.. configed like a Patrucci but w/ a long Neck.. They do make I nicer 7 string.. but F**K that I AiN't Playing Korn.. Jimi crapped Korn, and I don't care..
