Made in 1998, purchased new. 22 frets. volume, tone, and 5 way selector switch. s/s/h pickup configuration, passive electronics. Maple neck. licensed floyd rose trem. Single coils are IBZusa C1's, humbucker is IBZusa F1. Body style is similar to current "Satriani Ibanez" models. Mine happens to be dark metallic blue with black hardware. Nice hardshell case. gotoh tuners (non-locking).

This has been my main guitar since I purchased it in '89. Mostly rock. Nice, quiet signal - good shielding in electronics cavity. Bright but not obnoxious sound, and you can get a pretty good range by selecting various pickup combinations and screwing with the tone knob.

Guitar is a little beat up now (as you would expect), but had a great finish when it was new. Very solid construction - neck has great action. Stays in tune like nobody's business. Hardware has a nice, high quality feel to it.

My only complaint about this guitar is the 5 way switch. It gets corroded, noisey and flakey over time. I usually have to take it apart and clean it every few months. However the deterioration is pretty gradual, not like it will suddenly drop out in the middle of a set.

I've been playing for about 25 years. This guitar has served me really well. If it was stolen I probably wouldn't scour the planet looking for an exact duplicate, but I'd be bummed. Very versitile tone. Seems to play a bit "smoother" and "looser" than some other Ibanez's I've played. Overall a really nice guitar... one thing I'd change is I'd replace the 5 way switch with individual toggle switches.

This is a great guitar, Radius body, (which is now the Satriani body), with 22 frets, and a S-S-H pick-up configuration. Ibanez Lo Pro Edge locking tremelo.

The sound you get can be manipulated by the volume control, which is a great feature. You can go from a smooth blues progression, to a rocking lead guitar sound, by turning the volume from 6 up to 10. I have used this guitar almost exclusively for 10 years, and would highly recommend it for Blues, Rock, and Fusion. I would not recommend it for Jazz.

The original setup on this guitar was terrible. It's really too bad that more guitar manufactures' and music stores, don't take the time to set up guitars properly. I had the frets leveled by a pro, and then spent about 4 hours adjusting the neck and action. This guitar does not allow a large margin of error during setup, and still play well. This is a great playing guitar, and I can see why Joe Satriani made it his signature model. I rate this a 9, but I would have considered it a 7 off the rack.

This is a roadworthy guitar, and I've never been let down.

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and have played several. I think this guitar is an outstanding value, and is flexible enough to deliver great sound in a variety of styles. I have always played through Mesa Boogie, Marshall or Peavey Tube Amps, and have based my answers in this review accordingly. I would not recommend this guitar to someone that changes string brands and guages often, because you'll spend too much time adjusting things. I would replace this guitar if it were lost or stolen.
