I believe it was made in Japan. It has black finished harware, not gunmetal as I have seen on all others. 22 frets, mahogany 2-piece body with oil finish and maple neck. The pickups are Ibanez V1, S2 and V2. 5-way switch offering H, H(tapped)S, S, SH(tapped) and H. It has passive electronics and an Ibanez Lo-Trs trem as well.

The only thing that maybe could be improved is having 24 frets, though I don't know if this results in some other trade-off like scale length or pickup position.

I'm sorry but straight out of the packet it sounds awesome. I have had this guitar for 7 years and never have I even considered changing anything about the pickups/electronics.

In the rear position it will deliver metal that will make your ears cry. The middle position is a strat impersonation and the rear humbucker tapped/middle pickup setting is a tele impersonation. Then you still have 2 settings! What more do you want?

The factory setup (ibanez) was obviously well done. Everything was done to the finest degree.

Today I had to clean the guitar, having not done so properly in about 5 years, and there was untold crud al over it. Perhaps the finish is its greatest drawback - as it is oil and gets dirty and will scratch and dent with consummate ease. Changing it to, say, a polyurethane or something, may result in a different sound though.

The only thing I have changed is the setup - as over the years I have come to play with Light top/Heavy bottom strings tuned down to B, and trying this without retensioning the tremolo springs is a non-starter.

I have had it for 7 years and it has never broken. Like I have said if you mistreat it it will get scratched, but it is a guitar made from wood so what do you expect?

Once I played a gig and some bibble tried to tune it without unlocking the locking nut - so the string snapped behind the nut! I still played the whole gig with no problems though! God bless that locking nut.

If it got stolen then I would certainly buy another, or at very least something as similar as possible by Ibanez. It would be sad though, as over the years I have made it my own and its neck is all worn down from constant use! Almost like SRV's strat neck, but obviously not THAT bad!

Yeah this guitar is very good!

This guitar was made in Japan in 2000 i believe. It has 22 easily accessible frets on a bound rosewood fingerboard. laminated mahogany, volume tone and 5-way selector, HSH pickups, ibanez V8 and V7 in bridge and neck and an S1 in the middle. Passive electronics in this guitar. Mahogany body with a super thin maple neck. Its a super strat ibanez style shape which is comfortable because of its skinniness. Fitted with an original edge pro, double locking. Super4 wizard neck with jumbo frets. Got a free hardcase!!!

Sound : 10
This guitar was made for me. Its skinnines makes it incredibly fast and suits my love for satch very well. I use it with a 12 inch combo which can fill huge halls, especially with the power of the pickups. The combination of the mahogany and the fantastic pickups give this guitar a fantastic powerful sound. No problems with the sound at all

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This hand crafted guitar was set up perfectly. and there are no faults in the fitting of the neck or bridge PERFECT. Only thing is that the whammy bar socket sometimes loosens but this is no hassle at all.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar will last all night long, the fabulous gun metal chrome hardware will shine forever and none of the finish has worn off even after months of sweat and blood! I can trust this guitar to perform well and has caused me no regrets at gigs.

made in 2000 stained oil mahogany body with maple neck. Hum - single - hum pickups with 5 way switch, Edge tremolo. Straight up standard Ibanez guitar.

Sound : 9
Thsi is why people buy this guitar. It sounds good in a variety of styles/situations. In any given show, I'll play a country tune and then, motown, Beach Boys, Evanesance, swing jazz, and finish up with Hey Ya. I can get sounds to make all of these work. By it's self the guitar is quiet and full sounding. I had to ditch the stock pickups because they just weren't doing it for me. As far as the sound goes, I really can't complain about this guitar.

I took her staight out of the box and she was ready to fly. The only hang up I had was that I couldn't get the stock pick ups to not suck.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've had this guitar for 3+ years. It holds up in live situations and I do depend on it. The Edge tremolo has not been good to me.

No one should ever gig without a backup .

I've been playing for 18 years, and have had tons of stuff over the years. I love this guitar and plan to stick with this model. (I also have a S7420FM) In the future I will avoid the Edge tremolo and accept the fact that stock pick-ups blow. I am continually awed by how many sounds I can get through a 5 way switch, volume and tone controls. (I'm not too big on effects) Because of my job, I can have any piece of gear I want/need and I use this guitar for three shows a week. Solid!
