I bought this guitar in 2002. I believe it was made in 1978. It is a Japanese copy of a Gibson J-200, with a few variations. Has a spruce top, (I don't think it is a solid top) mahogany sides & back, rosewood fingerboard & bridge, mahogany neck. The guitar has very nice pearl block inlays on the fingerboard & on the mustache bridge. It has a great red sunburst finish, & a large black J-200 style pickguard with beautiful pearl inlay & floral design. Adjustable bridge. The headstock has a torch-shaped pearl inlay & the word 'Ibanez' is also in pearl. Has a great thin fast neck, enclosed tuners. A truly beautiful instrument.

I love the sound of this guitar, it is loud & very warm & rich wih great sustain. I have played Gibson J-200's that don't sound as good as this guitar. A definite 10. I fingerpick a lot & I play a lot of rock tunes, & this guitar sounds great strummed or picked.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action on this guitar is phenomenal, it's very low & the neck has plenty of room for adjustment. The guitar has an adjustable truss rod.
There is one tuning peg that is a bit loose but it's not a problem. I think it has a plastic nut & saddle which I intend to replace with bone in the near future.

The finish is great on this guitar for being 25 years old, colors still bright, it looks really good. I have never gigged with the instrument but the guitar is in such great shape for being as old as it is,I think it might last forever!

All in all this is a beautiful, great playing & sounding instrument. I have 7 acoustics & this one is my favorite. I have been playing since the late 70's & the only guitar I can compare it to was a '79 Martin HD-28 I used to own. I think I will upgrade the tuners as one of them is a bit loose, but it hasn't been a problem. If something happened to this guitar I would try to find another one, I can't afford a real Gibson J-200, & I think this guitar holds up extremely well to the real thing.
