Metalic Purple, Mirror pick guard, Shark tooth inlay, Wizard Neck, Rosewood fret board.

With my pod I can emulate any sound. The tone on this guitar is amazing. I usually just keep it on the bridge. The pod does the rest.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have had to do some work setting up the floyd. However after it was done by a professional tech, No problems. The guitar looks awesome undey da violet lights. The wood feel and finish are great! I love the neck. I seem to have not seen vary many rosewood necks around.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Are you Kidding! This is my #1. Buy a pod and find out! I played a gig for 5 hours and never had to replace a string. Only had to tune it slightly. Was doin some crazy whammy stuff at times! This guitar has been "the best I ever had." Too bad these are hard to find.

Never used it

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing since I was 14(17 yrs). The guitar was used but never touched! Still had some plastic on the pick Guard! If it were stolen or lost I'd be devistated. It's like an old freind you never want to part with. Besides I've tried strats, gibson's, You name it. The only guitar I found better was a paul reed smith. I could't afford that:(. The newer rg's don't seem to match it.

I think i got a 1993 model Japan standrad setup witch is like fully loaded like a sports car.

Sound : 10
great sound and no fuss after proper set up.
working with a gsp 2150 preamp and a pair of marshals 1X12
problems with the pickup selector noise in some settings have to wiggle to get clean sound.
best sounding guitar under $2,000, I've been shoping and even top end guitars did not have tone and sustain that i was used to. Got spoiled on the sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
needed basic setup the action was a little high.
pickups were a little high, however that is when i lowered the action.
No flaws perfect matched inlays and pickup colors.
This is where i complain about the noisy pick-up selectors.
eventualyed lead to me trying to clean the switch and broke a soder lead. would get a 10 except for the poor switch.

Reliability/Durability : 10
i would bring another 770 for a back up
good finish, i am wearing down some of the frets after 10 years of about 10 hours a week.
The color and finish are not usualy asoiciated with the style of music i play(looks too good for Live goth/power-metal) but when I play blues and jazz live it fits in.

Customer Support : 8
was able to get whireing diagram on line/ however it was missing a ground lead.

Overall Rating : 10
I have had 5 other electric guitars and each one had serious issues with, staying in tune or poor sound quality. this was the last one i needed for solid body electric. has same warm low end sound that gibisons have and punchy higs from fenders, very good when played clean in all p/u positions; this one guitar replaces the need for two good american guitars. I dont know why Ibanez dosent re-introduce model even if they used a fixed bridge and used natural looking colors.

According to the serial number, it was made in 1990, but I think 770's were only made from 1992-1994. It is a strange turquoise color with bound neck and body color headstock. Maple Wizard neck with rosewood fretboard and pearloid sharktooth inlays. Black nickel plated hardware. HSH pickup configuration IBZUSA F4, C2, and F2 (made by DiMarzio, which is why they sound better than the new pickups that Ibanez makes) Only has tone and volume control with 5-way switch, but you can get any tone you want with these controls. It can imitate every guitar out there, whether it be a Strat, Les Paul, Tele, even acoustic.

Sound : 10
I have never heard such a full, rich tone with the distortion turned on. It is generally quiet, but the C2 single coil has the infamous single coil hum. Did I mention you can literally get ANY sound you could possibly imagine with this guitar? The 770 is the last guitar you will ever need. If I buy another guitar, it will be another 770. These are very rare, so you have to search for them. If I see one somewhere, I will buy it in case I never see another one.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought this guitar used at a pawn shop, so it was not properly set up. After some mods, and a proper set up, this is the best guitar in the world. I think the neck may be a little warped, and as a result, I can't get the action as low as I like it, but it is still nice and low. I had to block the tremolo so it would stay in tune better. It is impossible to tune a guitar with a floating trem. The 770 is no exception. Because I use many alternate tunings, I don't use the locking nut pieces. It still plays great with no buzzing. I also raised the neck up off the body a little by placing some nickels in the neck pocket. This does not effect the sustain at all and it makes the guitar easier to play. I didn't do any of this out of necessity, I did it to better suit the guitar to my playing style. You may choose to set yours up differently.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have never had a problem with this guitar. I never break strings with it, and it always sounds good. I think this guitar will be around for many decades to come, and I would not have any qualms about playing without any backup it on a gig. Even if I broke a string, these can be changed out very quickly. With the locking trem, you can load the strings backward with the ball end at the headstock. Cut off the slack and put it in the saddle. Then all you have to do is tighten and tune it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had to deal with them. I make all of the adjustments myself, and those have all been very easy to do.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing bass for six years, and I have played guitar for about 4 years. I have a five string Ibanez Soundgear bass that I use as my main bass. I also own a Fender P-Bass, Jazz Bass, and Strat. If something happened to my 770, I would be crushed. I would search all corners of the globe to find another one. It is the best sounding guitar I have ever heard. It also looks cooler than any other guitar. I have never played a guitar that compares to the 770. It is perfect. If I ever get famous and Ibanez offers me a signature model, it would be a 770 reissue. This guitar originally retailed for $1000 and was the top of the RG line. For $250, you can't find a better guitar!

The guitar sounds great. The old F2 Ibanez picks sounds better then the new V8 and V7. more output and tighter sound.

I bought this used and I had no prior knowledge to the guitar's specs.
What I can tell you is that it has 24 jumbo frets on a ultra thin, flat, and wide maple neck. Laquered on the fret board area and unfinished on the back making for an EXTREMELY fast, smooth playing neck.
For tone shaping, there is a volume and a tone control and a 5-way selector switch to choose between the neck(IBZUSAF4) middle(IBZUSAC3) and bridge(IBZUSAF2) pickups.
Floyd Rose trem responds beautifully!
An Ibanez hardshell case along with all the tools needed for adjustments was included.

Sound : 10
I am playing hard rock in the vein of Dream Theater on my home demos and play every weekend in a hard rock cover band.

My current setup is the Ibanez into an early 60's VOX wah pedal. From there I go to an ADA MP-1 pre-amp, into an Alesis NanoVerb, into an ADA MicroCab where the signal is split. One signal goes directly to the PA board or mixer and the other goes into the return of a Marshall JCM 800's FX loop.

I can get any sound from a Strat to a Les Paul to a PRS. Just play with pickup and tone combinations and you'll find these sounds.

The only noise I get is when I use the middle single coil with a distorted setting.

I have NOTHING bad to say about this guitar (Heck, I sleep with it when I have to spend the night with the other band members).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I adjust every guitar I play myself and this was no exception.
It was easy to set up and I was able to get insanely low action without fret buzz.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I play all of my equipment rather harshly (I've been called abusive by some!), be it hitting the body and neck against the drummers cymbals or with my fist (sometimes for a stage show, other times for a certain sound), I expect the equipment I use to come back begging for more.
This guitar has passed my "Abuse Test" with flying colors.
By the way, I don't have a backup...

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have never dealt with the company.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 24 years and only owned 3 "name brand" guitars, the first two were Charvels and the Ibanez is #3. I plan on keeping it as my #1 for many years to come. If it were ever lost, borken, or stolen I would check everywhere to get another one just like it. I have played the Jems and they don't come close to the 770.
The only Ibanez I would get in place of the 770 would be the Prestige.
