Look, this guitar was in separate body, neck, hardware when i bought it. It had no pegs, and the a screw was jammed into the slot on the tail under the ashtray cover. I had to attach some klusons, attach the neck (some jackass filed down the neck pocket for a strat neck probably--you know who you are dummy). The body is sonic blue but has nicks all over it. From far you cant really tell and it just looks "relicked" a term i flippin hate. Anyways, estimated to be from 1963, this guitar has seen wars, dismemberment, surgery, etc. I have not opened its innards but the pickups work fine if a bit weak. it has three piano switches two of which do something to one of the two single coils and the other to fill space ona pickguard used standard between this and the 883 which I think had a third single coil. I switched the original jazzmaster style drumhead bridge for a tuneothematic and that made a huge difference. the neck is the coup d'etat. it is super thick and sturdy but deep and narrow like a baseball bat. if it werent so nicked up it would be more comfortable than my MIJ strat potato chip neck.
The original tuners were on it but chipped and looking sickly. I switched in some Kustom amp chickenhead knobs which actually look super cool. All in all, imagine a jaguar shaped mustang sized Airline looking Prelawsuit fender headstock with tons of chrome shining because of the new parts and old ashtray cover. Flippin' sweet.

A ha. It resonate well, almost too well. It sound a little tinny unplugged. Its electronics need a fixup so for now the signal cuts out sometimes. The appearance suits my style (GBV, Wilco, Shah Rukh Khan) better than the current sound. Ill have a tech clean it and add a ground wire if possible.

Because of said neck pocket atrocity, the neck rests wierd making the action a little high or something. I love the beaten sonic blue look, and all the shiny chrome. A maple board would have been prettier but wouldnt have survived all these years (40 dang!)

Not yet. Although considering how poorly it was treated it is a real fighter. Better than your harmony teisco MIJ 60s toys. This is definitely closer in quality to old silvertones or Airlines. Not fender or Gibson of course.
Once the electronics are fixed I expect full compliance for my pains to bring it back from the dead.

Is Ibanez still around?
If so, do they claim to know what the even made 20 years ago much less 40? Ive always had a soft spot for Ibanez though cuz it was the first electric brought into my household by my big brother when I was 9.

I been playing seriously ten years and occasionally for 20. I have owned a jazzmaster (sigh), rare solid rickenbacker, fender lead III, MIJ strat, gretsch tk300 (rare), Squires (strat and tele).
Amps were Silvertone 212, MusicMan 212, Traynor GuitarMate, etc.
Pedals were 70s USA Big Muff, Boss DS1, CE-3, CE-2, and now a Fuzz Face Dunlop. All good stuff. Advice to the young: NEVER EVER SELL YOUR PRIZED POSSESSIONS TO PAY FOR EXPENSIVE TASTES OF YOUR BITCH GIRLFRIEND. Live and learn.
