thin maple neck almost strat like. two humbucker. three position switch, master volume two tones. Solid KORINA wood (or maybe Limba or bleached mahoganey or posibly Sen? what ever that is) One thing for absolute certain ITS NOT ASH.

Sound : 10
Some bone head put EMG's in it. Nice EMG's active with brass bezels and brass hardware, but they took out the original super 70's which are one of the best pickups ever made, they sound like early 70's gibson T pickups. Some day I'll restore it with original pickups with the embossed "ibanez" chrome covers.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Thin neck, good balance. This KORINA model is more light weight than the later ASH models.

Reliability/Durability : 10

Ibanez how about some historical support on your site. You guys don't make TV's you make guitars that will cherished for generations. Act like it. Pictures, serial number, facts, stories, catalogs etc.

Overall Rating : 10
I had to write this review to let all the Van halen fans out there that Eddie did own a KORINA destroyer that he later carved up to make his shark guitar. The early ones (early 75) were not ash. Mine is an early 75 with no serial number and the wood is definitely not ash. I know what ash looks like. I've seen several ibanez destroyers on line that are ash. The early ones weren't. If its korina or bleached mahoganey or Sen or what ever I don't know, but its not ash. I lucked out on this on, I paid $325 at a pawn shop, I knew it was worth at least twice that (it had the original case). I didn't realize it was the more collectible early model ($1300 or so).

I bought mine second-hand while I was managing a music store in Perth,Western Australia, around 1980.I have no recall of the serial, but it was well used when I bought it.
It was the stock standard model, with the Ash body(why some guys keep thinking this was Korina still amazes me...lol.........)It did come with aftermarket Grover tuners, though, and I liked them, they felt smooth, and positive......
It came with a square hardcase, must have been original,as it fit really well, not sculpted inside the case, but fit well.

Sound : 10
There is nothing that this axe couldn't do,and if I had it now(I WISH!)I'd fit it with a Kahler flyer, and she'd be perfect!
I used to play hard rock with this axe thru a marshall 50w top and 1 4x12 quad,and also thru a fender bassmaster,w/a 2x12 fender cab)(really!)using a a/b switch.
This is not only an "off the rack" easily playable guitar,it takes a true idiot to screw up it's inherent playability and sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I whipped out the bridge p/up,and put in a Dimarzio Super Distortion(w/phase switch),replaced the pots and disconnected the earth lead to quieten it up.Wound the p/ups as close as I could get them without fouling the strings. The action,I never needed to mess with,'til I went up from 9-42 to 10-46,and that was minimal.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I used this axe for literally hundreds of gigs, sweated buckets over it,playing all of the AC/DC,Angel City,Rose Tatto,Van Halen,Black Sabbath(you get the idea)in my pro cover band, and simply loved this axe.
It held its tuning really well, even with the thrashing I gave it,impersonating Angus Young,so if you find one,buy it..........nah........let me know, and I'll buy it......lol.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
This axe is a true rocker, flat wide neck, great sound as is,and aftermarket p/ups and elecs.will only add to the beast within.
I'd love to find it again(mine was stolen from my roadies house),and I would surely buy one,if I could find one.
It felt almost like a classical guitar, with it's wide string spacing, low tension, and playability, but it was also very fgast, which makes for goods speed, and accuracy.

I bought my Ibanez Destroyer the day I got fired at a local factory, april of 1978. Best damn bit of luck I have had. Paid $200 for it used. It had been set up with Dimarzio pickups, I put a PAF from a 50's Sg in the neck position. Plays great for southern rock. This guitar is a low, low serial number Korina wood with a honey finish, rosewood fretboard. sweet neck, fast! Master volume knob, two tone pots. White pickguard. Came with a blue lined hard case. This guitar is excellent, had a chance to trade it for a real Gibson Explorer, but this one played much better!

Sound : 10
This guitar works great for Southern Rock, Allen Collins of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame, (rest in peace) played a Gibson like it onstage at the Knebworth England festival. Ricky Medlock still plays a Gibson. This guitar is wonderful. Plays some good Pink Floyd tunes too (have a cigar!) Doesnt quite get the 'fat' Leslie west type tones and sounds I have looked for but other than that, this guitar is a honey!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Bought it used and set up with non stock pickups, had a luthier set it up with a brass tuning nut at the top of the neck for better tone for slide work, replacing the factory plastic white strip. It has a few dings on it, but after nearly thirty yrs it is to be expected.

Reliability/Durability : 9
To those of you who are professional musicians, I would say that you would be lucky to own one. It would serve you very well and you could count on it for a night of playing, durable and faithful. Great guitar. My only bitch is that the gold plating is wearing off the hardwear.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with the company. Never had it sent in, had a luthier do some work on it, but not to repair it, just to upgrade it.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitars for 41 yrs, I play this guitar, an Ibanez AR2618 Artist. Squier Fat Strat, Squier standard Stratocaster, play thru a Behringer GMX212 combo amp. This guitar is one of my favorites, an old friend.IT has such a nice balance to it, unlike some other guitars. If this were stolen, I would hunt down the dog who did it and eat his liver with some chianti wine and some fava beans, slurp.,,,munch, slurp. And then I would go out and buy another using his credit card.

22 frets, 2 humbuckers, metalic red finish, its an ibanez, wat more could i ask for :P

only wished it had a fllody rose floating trem for sum of those hard core whammy dives :P

Sound : 8
sounds pretty good, really meaty wen i put it into my Boss GT-6. However im going to replace the pick ups with 2 EMG 81s just to give it that extra touch of class

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
dude i just love this guitar...its its sooo light and ace so easy to configure the pick ups and stuff ur self, would highly reccomend

Reliability/Durability : 10
very reliable would definitelly not need a back up at gigs for its so easy to tune, really easy to change string (fitted a top E string in a gig in a matter of 15 secs) and that was from the packets hehe.

the input jack can become loose quick easily but its dead easy to just tighten up again.

my 5th fret is dinted how ever and will be quite costy to repair because it is quite a major dint, not sure how it happend though so i cant tell u if i did it easily

Customer Support : No Opinion
going to get it fixed soon hopefully so ill let u no :P

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playin roughly 3 years, I have 3 guitars, Yamaha ERG 121 (highly embarassing), a Jackson Randy Rhoads RR3 and mi destroyer...easily the best out of the lot! I also have a 100W marshall dfx and have had a zoom 606 and a boss gt6. If i had the money i would buy this guitar in all diffrent colours just coz i had the money coz it is such a great guitar love it!!!! Wish it had a flloyd rose floating tram and 24 frets for major ass whammy dives but hey, u cant have everything, if i got it stolen or lost, well i wouldnt loose it for a start no chance, but if it got stole i would probably cry for a bit then buy another 1 from insurance hehe

'82 Ibanez Destroyer(Japan) 22 fret, single humbucker (DiMarzio?) one vol/tone control passive set-up. Candy apple red with a maple neck and black dot inlays and stock strat-style trem. It's all original.

Tuners are Ibanez non-locking. THe neck on this guitar is great I think that's one of the best features. I've thought about taking that neck and using it on a project guitar but my buddies tell me to leave this guitar in stock condition.

Sound : 7
WhenI bought it new in '82 after sacking groceries for the summer, it suited my need just fine (Rhoads, EVH, earlier Def Leppard, you know, early 80's stuff!)I ran it through a Peavey Special 130 and had a
DOD chorus pedal.

The pots on this guitar are still great, 22 years later, no crackling, easy to pan. The tone was rather limited due to single humbucker in bridge.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was set-up at the shop I bought it from in San Antonio they did a fine job. Overall, the guitar was finished out very nicely. It's still beats the quality of the newer guitars you see hanging on the wall at GC, etc.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar has been in my closet for 15 years, but it's a stout guitar that can take gigging with no problem. It's actually pretty heavy (I don't know the wood). The strap buttons are solidly mounted and are chevron-shaped which dug into the leather strap pretty firmly.

I wouldn't use this as a back-up. It's not my style anymore. I'm a little more subdued and would look kinda rediculous playing that thing now.

Customer Support : No Opinion
it did have a warranty but I've never needed repairs on it. It does, however, need a fret job.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing amateur for 22 years. I'd buy something else if it were stolen. I've always been a fan of Ibanez, though. It think they make quality guitars (generally).

This is referred to as the "Lawsuit Korina" destroyer (1976) that I have not been able to find out if it was actually part of the lawsuit, or if it is actually Korina (African Limba). It is a knock off of the 58 Gibson Explorer. I do know they only produced these for a short time. I think it might be alder though I know that korina is also a very light weight wood. I do know these are very hard to find stock with the Super 70's pickups and the star machine heads. I had orginally purchased one at American Music in Seattle in the late 70's for under $400.00. I sold it a couple of years later not realizing they were no longer made (I was suprised that I could sell a used Ibanez for $100.00 more than I paid for it). It has a honey finish, white pickguard, twin humbuckers and a very nice fast neck. I purchased the second one for much more but am glad I have it in my collection. It came with the OHSC and is in good conition for its age.

Sound : 9
The stock pickups are very hot, perhaps hotter than I need for performing, but still fun in my rehearsal studio. I don't play as heavy as I did in the 70's. I play through a Carvin Belair, Reverend Hellhound combo with a Prescription Electronics Fuzz and a Fulltone II. I find I tend to play faster hard rock, metal with this guitar, while my main guitar (1960 Gretsch 6120)is more my rockabilly, roots rock guitar. Who says you can live with one guitar? I find my playing varies as much as my guitars and I love this variety (I'm currently at 7 guitars). I really like the look and sound of this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Since I bought the guitar used I can't comment on how it was originally set up, but I purchased my current one on EBAY and it was set up very nicely. It has some dings on the upper horn, but is in great shape for a guitar that is almost 30 years old. The chrome is in great shape and the rest of the body looks great (even the back). It seems very tight, stays in tune and is a joy!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems like it has a lot of life left in it. I have used it live and it is a very reliable instrument. The strap buttons are solid, the pots are quiet and the pickup selector switch is strong. I will need to replace the input jack, its a little sloppy. But, then again, it's almost 30 years old.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Ibanez.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing since I was 6. I'm now 44. I have had more guitars and amps than I can remember. If it were lost or stolen I would like to get another but they are becoming very hard to find. I doubt I would spend the money again because there are so many other guitars I would like to own. I think it is a very classy looking guitar, it's fun to play and I get a lot of comments on its sound and appearance. I love having it in my collection. If anyone has any information on these, feel free to let me know.

I have an Ibanez Modulus Graphite Series Destroyer style guitar made in May 1980. 22 frets, solid body. 2 volume, 1 tone, 3 way selector switch. 2 humbuckers, I am assuming they are Ibanez. The neck is graphite, not sure on the body wood. It has a Kahler tremelo. Guitar came with a hardshell case in good condition.

Sound : 7
It suits my style just fine. I play about anything, from heavy metal to space music. I am running through an ART SGX 2000 Express and an Alesis 100 watt amp, 2 Carvin PA Speakers and 1 early 70's Fender Speaker Cab. This guitar sounds 23 years old. Too many highs and not enough lows, tone control takes it from bright to muddy to dead. Still seems to sound ok though, ya just have to work at it a little harder than normal. Not too much to dislike considering the price I got it for.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Since this is a used guitar, I am not sure how it was when it was brand new. But everything looks to be 100% original. I have gone over this guitar fairly well in the 3 days I have had it and seems very well made. No scratching noises in the switches. Action is smooth and low, still forming an opinion of the overall feel. All the hardware is gold, everything including the back covers over the 3 way and the rest of the electronics. All gold hardware is fading or oxidized, the pickup rings are really bad, but the tuners look excellent. You have to expect some wear, and since everything is original it doesn't bother me a bit.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It has lasted 23 years and plays pretty durn good, I see no reason why I can't get another 23 out of it...or more. There are a few small chips here and there and one large one on one tip, but overall the finish is in good to very good condition. Everything is solid on this guitar, I think I could depend on it if I had to. I own 16 guitars so I am never without a backup, I would take a chance with this one though if I really had to.

Customer Support : No Opinion
So far I have not contacted anyone at Ibanez, but I am about to. I cannot find out a single thing about this guitar. The graphite neck and all gold hardware have me assuming it is part of a custom series, but net searches turn up empty. I am hoping someone at Ibanez will have more info for me.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing as a hobby for about 15 years...too much gear to list here. It is a nice guitar but I doubt if I would try to get another one for any reason. It won't be one of my favorites anytime soon as far as playability goes, but perhaps someday I will replace the pickups and pots. First I want to find out what it is exactly, it may be the kind of vintage guitar ya just leave the hell alone! I will be happy with it even if I find out it is worth $165.00 instead of thousands...I bought it to play, not to look at or put into storage, so unless it is a gem, under the knife it goes! Anyone with info, I would appreciate anything you have.

The model im reviewing was the model with 3 humbuckers and the standard tremolo. It was pretty much the same as the phil collen signature model, except for less flashy hardware and no floyd rose (obviously). Black in color, passive electronics, 1 volume and 2 tone controls, les paul style toggle switch.

Sound : 9
It sounded great, especially in the neck position. was very thick, but not muddy. The middle position pickup went unused, but the bridge pickup was also good, really thick but clear and biting.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
looked a bit wacky, but hey? the guitar was endorsed by def leppard. was well made though, had minor problems with the input, but nothing serious. The guitar was at least 16 years old when i bought it, and looked to have been abused a little bit, but was tough.

Reliability/Durability : 10
never crapped out live once.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never talked to them

Overall Rating : 9
a good solid guitar, would buy it again.
