This guitar definitely suits my style, which is a total mix of glassjaw, hum, and dream theatre,(i dont play other bands songs, i play my own (make yourself), if you could imagine what that sounds like, then you'll know what my style is. This guitar suits everything i need! No wammy bar, no string through body bridge, toggle switch (major plus), and its also extremely quiet (everyone seemed to forget to mention that in these reviews), unlike those crappy fender guitars that produce a ton of fuzz, and hiss.
I use it with the Crate gfx 2x12, which is also a really good amp for personal practice (not for gigs, or band practice)! No effects.
Totally noiseless!
A perfect mix of rich/full and bright sound.
This guitar is pretty unlimited.
The only thing i dont like about this guitar is that the factory sent these guitars to the stores really loose, so after about a month or so of playing, things started to break, like the toggle switch. No biggie for me though, because i bought it from guitar center, and they hook you up if you need something repaired.
P.S. the really wierd thing about this guitar is that it helped me a ton with writing songs. Iv written stuff i didnt even think of the day before i bought it. It has really expanded my creativity, and just a word of advise to all those dreamers and songs writers who want to be in a prosperise band, dont play what other people are playing! You're never going to promote anything new if you do that! Play what comes most truly natural to you, and in the end you'll be more happy with yourself.

Dont know what year, I bought it September 2001 though. Not sure where it was made either. (India?)
22 Frets
Volume and tone controls for both neck and bridge pickups. Three way switch for pickups; bridge, neck or bridge and neck. Both pickups are humbuckers.
Non locking kind of cheesy tuners. In there defense, I only have to tune the guitar when I begin a session.
Sound
:

I play a wide range of music, from country (as rarely as possible) to tool, metallica, zeplin, rage, lynard skynard.
I play through a Digitech RP200.
The pickups could be better, the neck sounds a little flat, the bridge sounds to twangy and weak.
With my processor, I can tweak all the shortcoming out of the guitar, I get great full hard rock crunch, I get nice clear ringing leads and solos. If you are a beginner as I am, I would highly reccomend coupling this guitar with at least a cheap stompbox to get a satisfying sound. I also play the guitar dry, (no amp) when i travel. I find that it has a better, more audible sound played this way than a lot of electric guitars!

The action was perfect right from the store.
The pickup are mounted slightly off center from the strings. I knew this when I bought it though, for the price I paid it was accceptable flaw.
Other than the pickup placement, I could find no other flaws. No cracks, bubbles in the finish (Beautiful finish!). The controls were all aligned properly! I either got a good one or Ibanez has a good QC program.

This guitar would stand up well to any style of play. I wouldnt have problems recording with it even.
The hardware is all solid, Im waiting to see if the jack is gonna get loose but hasnt yet. The strap buttons feel a little anemic, they have not broken or loosed up yet though.
I pull this guitar out, I play it for hours, I have no doubt that it will do its job every time.
I dont have another guitar, dont feel I need one. This guitar (bargain basement though it is) fulfills all my music needs.

Ive been playing for 5 months. This is my only guitar, I am just about to purchase an Ibanez AE18TVS acoustic. I play through a Digitech RP200, and a Crate 20w bass amp. (I like the thick sound I get playing through the crate bass amp)
I shopped for 2 weeks before I bought this guitar. I played the top end guitars, and the low end guitars. I could not find anything any of the more expensive guitars did, that this one didnt, that was worth the hundreds of dollars difference. I love this guitar, the finish is gorgeous, the action is sweet, I like the slim neck, I is my baby. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS GUITAR TO ANYONE WHO PLAYS IT AND FINDS ANY ASPECT OF IT DESIREABLE. BUY IT, YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!

Made some time between 2000 and 2001 in Indonesia.22 jumbo frets,laminated body(available in 3 colours;black,red or butterscotch).
3 way pickup selector.4 control knobs(2 tone,2 volume).2 Ibanez powersound humbuckers (I'm not sure of the setup,I think it's s/s/h though).Agathis body, beechwood neck and rosewood fretboard.I've got the transparent black finish and man is it sweet! You can get it in red or butterscotch also although the butterscotch is pretty vomit indeucing to look at!Cut away body with stop tailpiece bridge.Nice thin neck.Came with a gig bag and a set of .11 strings.

My God what a versaile guitar!Linkin park to green day to blink 182 to lynyrd skynyrd to spanish to blues, this thing does it all!I play through a zoom 505ii into a bogey ca10 and this thing sounds great. The neck pickup's a bit muddy to use so I don't use it much. The bridge is also a little twangy but if you keep the tone at about 5 you'll hardly notice.Nice full sound on the middle selection and nice bright sound on the bridge selection.

The action is just right, not too high and not too low.The head on the guitar is QUITE HEAVY though. It takes a little getting used to playing standing up but with practice you won't even notice it anymore.Everything else is pretty well set up pickups nut bridge,My one complaint however is that the strap nuts are pretty loose. In fact once when I was jumping around one of the nuts came out!No problem though,I fixed it by putting wood glue on the screw threads.Good as new!

I've playing for almost 3 years and this beats the shit out of everything else in its price range. If it were stolen I'd definetly buy another.I love the body and the versatility it has. Before I got this I was playing a piece of crap Rockson strat copy and when I picked this up everything clicked. At times I wish it were possible to put a tremolo arm on.Of course you can't but I'm not complaining. All in all this is a beautifully crafted, well designed guitar with very few flaws.Ideal for a beginner or someone who wants something they can pound the stuffing out of and get great sounds back from!

Made in Indonesia in 98 or 99. 2 humbuckers three way switch two tone two volume. Agaithis body, which is a cheap imitation of mahogany. Tune-o-matic bridge, with stop bar tailpiece. The neck is maple with what I was told is a rosewood fingerboard, but seems more like ebony compared with my other guitars. Big frets I think Jumbo, but maybe extra Jumbo. Good amount of features for a cheap guitar.

Heres where you'll either hate or love this guitar, I mean you should already love it because its one of the best looking guitars I've seen. If your looking for a great distorted guitar you'll love this, it handles the overdrive from my Marshall great, I also use various distortion pedals, which it sounds good with, really heavy though. If your looking to play clean parts that aren't single notes you may be able to get by, but I can't this guitar sounds dead to me when you play clean. But I mostly play distorted so I give it a 7.

Features: Two Humbuckers, 3way switch, Rosewood neck, 4 knobs(2 volume & two tone), 22 frets, stop bar bridge.
Pickups sound okay, nothing special. Has a stop bar bridge but has a tendancy to come out of tune pretty easily. The guitar is black, and surface scratches shown really bad, fingerprints standout too,(you can get it in other colors) Over all, its nothing speacial for features. The input on the guitar comes loose easily too and really cannot be tightend, the input is also on the bottom which sucks when you want to sit on the floor or on a bed(basically where i play guitar) so this can ruin straight angled cables, i suppose it can be fixed by a right angle cable.
Sound

I just play guitar, mostly alternative or old rock-n-roll type stuff. The strings are naturally really loose on this guitar, this can probably be adjusted somehow, but the factory sent out this guitar really loose, the knobs were loose also, so one bump and its out of tune instantly. Its sound fine, but it has really high pictched kind of sound overall which might be a good thing for you metalheads.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

Like i said before everything was really loose on the guitar, the knobs, the strings, the input, the screws for the strap were loose, and when i tightend them i striped the inside(pissed me off!). The finish is good looking, no flaws on the finish, although like i siad it scratches easily. The bridge was i tiny bit uneven, but you can fix that also.

This guitar just feels bad. I really cant eplain it, but it really does feel like it would fall off of you onstage. Like i said the screws that hold the strap are loose and easily stripped so the strap will sometime pull the screw out if you play it too hard.

1998,99? not sure which
22 frets bolt-on neck
2vol 2tone 3way toggle Dual Humbuckers
basically a starter Les Paul DC
I was most impressed with was the tuners, 3 on a side, high gear ratio, very consistant and stable, grover copies maybe.

good enough sound when it was stock. I have replaced the bridge pickup with a dimarzio super distortion, and it sounds much better. I use it as a backup for my Les Paul, playing through a marshall. Original Bridge pickup was a bit weak and twangy and slightly microphonic, so it had to go.
This guitar pretty much has 3 sounds. Bridge pickup, Neck Pickup or Both. None of them are bad tones, but they arent amazing either. the volume and tone knobs need to be left at 10, rolling them down doesn't clean or fatten the sound.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

when i first got it, the action was so low that every fret farted out from end to end. adjusted this and it was fine. Also, the electronics cavity was not shielded so it hummed a bit at high volumes until i shielded it. The neck on this guitar is the best i have played on an under $200 guitar. Same wizard neck that's on the expensive ibanezes.
Finish is black and it's over 1/8" thick (i knocked a chunk out accidentally). takes a beating pretty well. this guitar has been through hell and it's still shiny!

I have used this guitar live hundereds of times. It usually is waiting beside my amp incase i break a string mid-song, but sometimes i use it for alternate tunings. Stays in tune VERY well. MOST of the hardware is pretty good, excpt for the bridge saddles. the metal is rather soft there and gets chewed up quickly. I really need to get them replaced, probably won't though. The toggle switch never really worked right. every now and then it would pop back to the middle position, now it wont sit anywhere but there. I just duct taped it to the bridge position and it's fine.

Overall, I think that this is one of the best cheap-o guitars around. I've played some $500 guitars that weren't as good [*HAMER*] *cough* Oh, did I say that out loud? >:). My favorite thing about this guitar is its stability. It's always in tune and it always sounds the same -- ALWAYS. If it were stolen or lost I'd probably just shop around until i found something else i like, instead of running straight to the ibanez dealer, but i might end up with another after all. I don't really depend on it as a main guitar. Hell, I may have gotten the only one that works!

The sound is okay. It's a great beginner's guitar. You can get some good sounds with a good distorion. The neck pickup is full and fat sounding. The bridge pickup is a bit thin but that can be fixed by adjusting the tone knob(They actually make a difference!!!).The Powersound pickups are the Yugo cars of all pickups! BUt great if you're just starting out.
I thought about up grading the pickups when I first got it, but why? I'd rather buy an awesome guitar And maybe upgrade the bridge. I'm a lead guitarist. I need Metallica, Thin Lizzy type sounds for my band. This guitar doesn't quite get me there!
It's a beginner guitar so it's probably the best you could get for the price.Eight

VERY NECK HEAVY!!!!! If you don't hold the guitar while you play the guitar's neck drops to FIVE O'CLOCK. NO Kidding. Very annoying. NOt practical at all. Bad for playing shows. It can be fixed though. Just drill a hole in the body were the neck joins it. Put in your strap locks (or buttons)I SUPER GLUE MY STRAP LOCKS IN BTW, ever since I was playing my bass guitar and the threads in the body stripped down and the bass dropped! I caught it just before it hit the ground though(lucky) It was set up decently I lowered my action and had to fix the intonation. It had what looked like a crack in the finish near the neck pickup(not a scratch) I didn't mind though. You can only see it at certain angles. Everything was pretty decent.

I Wouldn't gig with it ever. I do take it along just in case someone needs a guitar. I wouldn't because of the sound. The actual guitar though would okay except for the neck heavy problem. I of course replaced the strap buttons with Dunlop Strap Locks. The best 12 dolar investment.

It was my first guitar. I loved it and still do. I usually play it when I practice at home. I Like to keep my ESP clean(only gigs and rehearsels). It's the best guitar in its price range.

The bridge pickup is great for high end crunch and the tone controls are nicely voiced. I wish there wasn't such a drastic treble cut when the volume is cut but that can be fixed. Neck pickup is a little weak. Not as hot as the bridge and not bassy enough to give the woman tone, sounds better clean than distorted. The combo position doesn't inspire either. But its all about the bridge pickup in this guitar. 9 for the bridge, 7 for the neck.

I lowered the action and raised the neck pickup. Finish was clean and frets felt good. Couldn't see any flaws. I was surprised by the smooth quality of the tuners in this price range. I don't know what the gear ratio is it is nice and the guitar stays in tune well. Neck is comfy and quick. Hardware is solid. Others have complained about this guitar being neck heavy. This is true, but the neck will not fall to the ground like on some really cheap guitars. It stops just a hair below level. If this bugs you, do not buy this guitar.

This is a really good choice for a beginner/mid level player or a secondary instrument for a more experienced player. My primary guitar is a tele and I wanted something with a completely different sound and feel. This does the job beautifully. A couple of manufacturers build similiar shaped guitars, but this is the most affordable. The competition from Fender and Epiphone in this price range is a joke. Don't raise your nose at this just because of the low price. In this range, most manufacturers don't offer translucent finishes and separate volume and tone for each pickup. Used you can get one just over $100, new around $200. Overall a great value and good looking axe.
