Made in indonesia. 22 frets, 3 way, crap tremolo, decent action, 2 humbuckers. its a bottom range ibanez so i wasn't expecting much.

i play metal and rock, which this guitar suits. the bridge pick-up is great with distortion. my amp is a Marshall G15RCD. like everyone else has said, with clean channel the sound is not great. not enough treble and too much bass (even when amp settings changed). but compared to my Pro Axe guitar this is excellent.
i will definitely change pickups soon
Action, Fit, & Finish

completely black including scratch plate. fairly roughed up, it is s/h, and the fret-board was quite dirty but this was soon fixed up. as far as the body fair few scratches were evident.
Reliability/Durability

as far as build quality goes this guitar is solid. considering it is a base model guitar. however it does go out of tune more than i would like. all switches etc are fine nothing too loose. i could use it for gigs but the tuning can be a worry.

i've playing for a couple of years but have only really started to take it seriously the last couple of months. as stated i also own a pro axe guitar (very cheap, my first guitar). i noticed when i picked up the Ibanez and started playing for a while, it just fell into place. it was so much easier to play and is lighter also than my other guitar. i seemed to play a lot better. if it were stolen i would be pretty pissed off, and i would probably buy an RG series.

I know this guitar was probebly made by some chineese kid in china or something.it has agithis body,22 frets, psnd pickups, and this guitar comes in black or metallic blue, mines is in metallic blue.yeah, your basic first guitar.hell, its a great first guitar, actually not many other first guitars are better.i had a great 1+ years with this guitar.i hate the tremelo though.
Sound
:7
This guitar sounds good for metal music,or atleast sounds good for a first guitar for metal music.I use this thing with my marshall avt20 and some of my pedlas.i recomend changing these pick ups. What made me like this guitar less was when i was playing van halen and nirvana on it,it sounded really bad.but you could get a good metallica sound on this guitar, you could try getting the korn sound by tuning this this 5 steps down, after saying that you would probebly forget trying to sound like korn on all 6 strings.but this was a great deal for $160,you get what u pay for.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
No,i didnt pay atention to facory set up.When i got it,it played fine. What i hate about the finish is how easily it chips.everything on this guitar is basicly just non expensive stuff like the pick ups.oh yeah, tremelo sux ass.but other that that, this guitar is fine.

I never played live before, but ive played with my friends before and ummm im sorry but this guitar wasnt too great.no,u need to get new hardware for this unless u dont wanna play live and arent a tone-snob and just wanna play this guitar for fun, practice.Hell ive played this guitar almost nonstop for 1+ years, there hasnt been any thing wrong with it.solid strap buttons.depend on this this only for practice, dont try to play this thing live, and trust me this sint the best guitar in the world, but a good first one.

ive been playing guitar for 2 years,i just got the ibanez rg7420 and ibanez ts9 and i use a marshall avt20.i wish i didnt pay $240 for this guitar, but that was before they cut the price which is now $160.I wish i actually knew about guitars when i bought it,i just saw that this was ibanez and i was like cool and i bought it not knowing a thing.i love that this is a good first guitar, compared to all other guitars like ibanez rg's,fender strats, gibson's,and so on this thing sux ass.i just cant wait to get a new guitar,6 string guitar that is.that is all.ok ok,its a great 1st guitar non the less like i have said, which is why i give it a 7.

made in 2001, dont know where.22 frets, solid top, volume, tone, 3 way toggle p/up. its passive, dont kow what p/ups, in a H/H, S/H. made of mahogany, kinda strat style, but lighter.
Sound

it soudns alright, playing through an assortment of BOSS and ibanez pedals into a line 6 spyder. it soundsquite good actually, yet i play a dark kind of metal/nu-metal, so it doesnt quite work out, yet it is just a entry level guitar. its pretty good for only $400 NZ dollars.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
it is alright, every now and then, the springs attached to the tremlo will pop out, but thats fixable, it tends to go out of tune after playing 4 songs, in E, but if u play in a massive drop tuning eg. drop C it will go out of tune every song, so add another spring in the back of it. the p/ups are sweet as. it was pretty perfect when i bought it brand new.
Reliability/Durability
:7
it will work on stage, but u will need a back up, coz this is only a entry level guitar, so its pretty shitty, yet it will last, i use this as my back up and my 7 string for my gigging guitar. it will last, and so will the strap buttons, no matter how much you jump around. ths finish is good as, it leaves streaks of where you hav been strumming, yet that wipes away.

This is a 2002 model as it was bought this year. It has an agathis body, maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. 22 jumbo frets, white dot fret markers, slim and comfortable neck comparable to a Wizard II style mixed with a Fender Mexi Strat neck. Older style covered tuners, 2 humbuckers, 1 volume, 1 tone, 3 way blade switch mounted to a black pickguard and the paintjob is a decent black finish. The bridge is an Ibanez 2 point non locking trem with a push in trem bar. It came with 2 allen wrenches and a waranty card. I do not own this guitar, but I suggested it to my brother in law. He went ahead and bought it and he likes it's features. I do too. It has everything a beginner needs.
Sound
:10
My bro in law bought a CRATE GX15 along with the guitar. He lives in an apartment so it works out good for him. It has a cool vintage humbucker tone to it and sounds about like a medium output. It kinda dies out a little when playing leads, but sound killer while playing power chords and what not. Clean it has a great sound. The neck bucker has a smooth jazz sound to it, but seems to be a little higher in output. Maybe the pickups were installed backwards. Who knows. I tried out drop D tunings, B tunings and even C tunings with the stock strings. It sounded pretty beefy. I liked it. My bro was impressed as well. We both share the same musical interests. Basicaly 80's metal, punk and nu-metal like System of a Down, Korn, Deftones, etc. It covered SOAD very well. Especialy tunes like Bounce and Chop Suey. For what the guitar is, it sounded great. Better than I expected.

This was very poor. My poor brother in law has no idea what to do with a guitar. He's had it for 7 months and has not been able to do anything with it. The neck was bowed back to the point where the strings were flat against the frets. The bridge was nailed down low and it was a total mess. I spent about 20 minutes with it and got the bow out of the neck, raised the bridge and alligned the neck. I got it tuned up and had to raise the bridge pickup as the output was way too low. The neck pickup was alot higher in output. I didn't have to touch it at all. Everything else was good. This had to be the shittiest factory setup I have ever seen. Once everything was adjusted, it kicked ass. The frets need to be smoothed out on the edges. You could probably cut yourself playing it. When my brother in law comes out this way I'm going to sand it for him. He lives in a very rural area of Northwest Kansas so he doesn't have a guitar tech near by.

After I banged on it for all 9 days of my vacation it held up pretty well. I would say as a beginner's axe it is pretty solid. I have seen a professional guitarist in a big blues band out of El Paso use one as his one and only. Thats why I suggested it to my Brother in Law. It will hold up for him. I'm sure it will. Now one thing that surprised me was the tuning stability with this Ibanez trem. The nut slots are wide and give the string alot of room to travel. I divebombed this trem and it held it's tune. I divebomb it at least 30 times in a row and it still pretty much stayed in tune. I was shocked. It has to be the best non locking trem I have ever used. Ibanez gets 2 thumbs up for this one.

I give him a few more months and my bro will be asking about new pickups and other bells and whistles. If this guitar came with a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge it would be damn near perfect for me. My only issue with it was the weak output of the bridge pickup. Ibanez makes a damn fine cookie cutter guitar for the money. In certain circles Ibanez is a dirty word. I have owned 3 in my time, an RG 270 DX, RG 320 and an RG 7420. All were great. It's no wonder they are played by alot of the guitar gods like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani. I'm a diehard Jackson and Fender player, but I think I'm going to get back into an Ibanez pretty soon. From their cheapest model to thei Jem series they are kick ass all the way.

i play a lot of punk and metal.the pickups are a little week but not as bad as a lot of people on here say.i use a peavy amp and i get barely any noise at all unless i want it.the bridge pickup and the neck pickup both sound like the same pickup...just in 2 different positions.i plan to change them with dimarzio's but for now they work fine.
Action, Fit, & Finish

the action is a little high but its very playable thanks to the thin neck.no cosmetic flaws except for the ones i've made on it.tuners are cheep and after 4 years of use are starting to rattle a little now.

it should be fine for playing live.on the hardware only the tuners seem cheep...the bridge i've never had any problems with.the finish is pretty thick and should last with little abuse.strap buttons are solid but EVERYONE should use straplocks if playing live.

ok, i'll start out by stressing the fact that these are stock pickups. that and ibanez went the cheap way and did a pool pickup routing rather than individual pickup holes. that's good and bad. the good thing is you can do any pickup config, provided you buy a new pickguard, the bad thing is you lose a LOT of sound quality. the bridge pickup is alright, considering it's a stock pickup. the neck pickup is just...bad...really muddy...crap.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:4
as with most ibanez guitars there's fret buzz. especially when i put new strings on it. i don't like the bridge. i break too many strings on it. probably because i play really hard on it, get into the music, do some wild stuff.
Reliability/Durability
:6
this had damn well better withstand live playing. i'm playing live in about a week with this cuz it's all i've got. anywho, the tuners just suck, the strap buttons loosen every so often. i don't like the frets, or the bridge. too many strings broken on it. however, i've dropped it several...million times and nothings happened to it, except for it going a bit out of tune.
i'm having to gig with this without a backup. oh well...otherwise i wouldn't. i'd use a better guitar. the thing is i have to tune it down to C [deftones covers], and if i rented a better guitar, i couldn't do that. you need a thicker gauge of strings.

i've been playing for about 2 years now. i know, i know, i shouldn't be so picky about guitars. that's what everyone says. because i'm "still a beginner". however, i've exceeded my skills past this guitar. to prove this, take my word for this, i went into a tom lees music store and played a PRS Santana SE, and i suprised myself as to how well i could play. it's my guitar that's the problem.
i wish i'd bought the rg170. even though it's bottom of the line RG, it'd still be better. soon i'm getting a custom guitar off warmoth. telecaster body, wizard [really thin] neck, extra jumbo frets, seymour duncan pickups, anda pick up config that'll knock your socks off. ultimately i'm hoping to have my custom guitar, and also a fender teleplus. i'll dig one up from somewhere. i love that guitar. so wicked.
backing off a little here. it's a good guitar for beginners. but i'm past that, i need a better guitar. i want a thinner neck, better pickups, and all that.
if it were stolen or lost, i might be sad only cuz it's the only guitar i got, otherwise, i'd just buy a custom off warmoth...i'll explain later.

Made in USA (2000). 22 frets. It has a volume and a tone knob. A 3 way selector. Two powersound pasice humbuckers. Made of Alder. All the guitar (also the pickguard) is black and has a strat body. It has a crappy Fat10 bridge and also a crappy Standard tuners and strap buttons. The neck was made of rosewood, has medium frets and its very thin and fast.

I play modern rock, punk, and metal and it sounds very fine (Metallica, Blink 182, RHCP, Nirvana, etc). I use a Yamaha 25w amp, boss delay and distortion pedals, and a ibanez tube screamer pedal, and it rocks!!. No noisy and has a absolute clean sound. You cant make to much because of the pickups, thats the only things i dont like.

It was perfectly made, Ibanez did a great job for this guitar, all was perfectly made!!!. The things i change (bought) for my guitar were: locking tuners, a vintage tremelo bridge, strap buttons, a black pickguard, a nut, two powerfull potentiometers and a 3 way selector, new capacitors and ground wiring, and also the pickups, i bought a dimarzio paf pro and a dimarzio super distortion. With all this it look pretty and "THIS BITCH REALLY ROCKS" !!!!!. Without this changes i can put a 6 but with this changes y can put it a 20!!!. With all this changes this cheap guitar can cost $1000!!. Until now this is the only cheap guitar that can be so good with so many replacements.
Prices (this are aprox.): Guitar ($200), Bridge ($70), Tuners ($50), pickguard ($30), 2 Good Potentiometes ($40), Strap Buttons ($5),
3 Way Selector ($20), Capacitors & Ground Wiring ($30), Nut ($5),
Both Pickups ($140). All this is about $590, the replacements you can bought it when you want so you cant feel that were so expensive. I could say that this is my cheaper and best guitar i have.
I put a ten because of the replacements, without....., the same.

I am in a Heavy Metal Band and trust me. WE PLAY HEAVY. This guitar works great with distortion..... but somtimes i like to kick back and relax and play it clean when I am by myself.I have read the other reviews they have all said that this guitar sucks when it comes to clean sounds.BUT IT DOESN'T. I play clean w/ it, and it sounds great and i still have the original pickups.I play punk clean heavy ska and jazz and all of tese types of music sound good on it.

I mostly play metal/rock, dropped C, detuned stuff and it fits fine. Right now I'm going guitar>tuner>boss dist.>ibanez chorus/flang.>fender amp. The neck pu is boarderline muddy but with the right eq is a little better, bridge pu is loud and bright.
