I don't know the year made, I bought it '09. It has 22 frets, laminated top. It has one tone knob and one volume knob, and a three way switch for the pickups. The pickups are powersound one and two, open coil. The body is basswood and the neck is maple with a rosewood fret board. I have the Black Midnight finish and for right handers they offer Jewel Blue. It is strat body style with a fixed bridge. Pretty decent hardware for the money.

Sound : 8
I play the metal boys and girls and this guitar is built for this purpose. I play this guitar through a Roland Cube 15X and these two match well together. I really like this guitar and I am glad it does not have a floyd rose, because I am a beginner and the floyd just seems rediculous for me. Excellent osunds on clean and the four lead channels offered on my amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
I bought this guitar "used" on ebay. This guitar was essentially new, but it had a minor blemish so they have to sell it used. I was not impressed with set up or the strings. So I had the strings changed and set up, much better now. The tuners are kind of flimsy, but I can deal.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is durable enough to withstand live playing, it sounds awesome through my little practice amp on metal stack effect. The tuners are questionable, overall everything is good. The strap buttons are awesome and the finish is sweet. I would definitely play live without a back up.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I am fairly new and for 185 bucks I'll take this over a strat or epiphone in this price range. I love the finish, the sound it makes through my amp. I hate the fact that the tuners seem cheap and flimsy. Overall, being a beginner, this guitar is second to none. If you buy this guitar remember this-BEGINNER. Do not buy this and expect it to be a high end Ibanez, cuz it ain't.

Bought in 2008 and you can find out all of the features for yourself...

Sound : 8
It sound very good on both clean and dirty settings. I'm using a Line 6 Spider III 75w amp and the guitar sound fantastic on it. It sounds a hell of alot better than my Strat.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar arrived perfect accept for the little shreds of the shielding tape were coming out from under the pickguard so i took a razor blade and cleaned it up. Jewel Blue is a perfect choice for this guitar

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is one of the most solid guitars ive ever used...its better than my friends $700 epiphone.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Ibanez doesn't have customer service because they don't need it.

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing for a few years and this guitar is amazing and with my Line 6 i am in heaven.

Rock On.

I think it was made in china. I bought it in 2007. It has 22 frets, Alder body (i was surprised 'cause almost all the cheaper ibanez are basswood), two humbuckers ibanez psnd H-H passive, colour black... i'm not sure about the bridge, but i never use it... i't great for a begginer.

Sound : 8
It suits every style of music, not perfectly but; the bridge humbucker gives a power rock/metal sound, and the neck pickup gives a bassy jazz/blues sound. They are noisy, but not in a annoying way, great response (if you play harder it sounds harder). It great to try to find your own begginer sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the action was perfect from the factory. No problems with this, but this was made in china and that discoint some points.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It's very resistant and it has a real wood (not basswood).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never deal with them

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 2 years and it was great to start and experiment. I really recomend it as your first guitar, but as long as you get better you'll want a better axe. It's great for every style of music from bossa nova to brutal death metal.

This guitar was made in China and was purchased in 2008 ,not sure of the year it was made. The Ibanez GRX2o has 22 frets ,laminated top ,3 way selector ,2 active humbuckers .Alder body ,satin finish ,strat body . Tremolo system I am not sure what type (not Floyd Rose) and medium frets .

Sound : 10
The sound of this guitar can vary based on what you are using for for an amp or pre-amp . I use the Behringer V-Amp 2 with a Peavey Rage 158 . The amp is irrelevant if you are familiar with the Behringer V-amp 2 . It can be used with an amp ,p.c. etc . The sounds are amazing ..but enough with the pre-amp . Let's talk about the guitar . This thing is amazing. I read a ton of reviews and took a lot of time before I purchased this sweet piece of equipment . First of all it IS an Ibanez ..make no mistake about it ! It is not like Epiphone "by" Gibson ..this is a damn Ibanez ! If this is their idea of a low end product then the high end Ibanez products must make you pass out by just touching them ! I have been playing on and off for at least 17 years and I have never played such a nice guitar . I own several others which include the Kramer USA Pacer and an Epiphone "by" Gibson strat style guitar . The playablity of this thing is simply amazing . There is no change between the low frets and the high frets as you go up the neck . The pickups sound great with the equipment I have . I highly recommend the Behringer V-amp 2 to those who have not yet purchased this little miracle ,(but that is an entirely different review). I read review of the tremolo system being sub par . I would have to agree ,but I don't use it anyways so it doesn't bother me . The bar screws in on mine and doesn't just "push in" like some others have claimed (must be older models they purchased). The springs are very sturdy and you really have to push to get the tremolo system to engage . Again , I don't use it so this isn't a big deal . The 3 way selector does it's job with pickup selection and there is no fumbling around like other setups . Bridge ,middle, neck ..it doesn't get much more simple than that . Ibanez Powersound 1 in bridge and Ibanez Powersound 2 in neck H/H setup . I have so much more to say but I will continue in the next section ...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The set-up and action was amazing ! No need to adjust the truss rod at all ! The pickups were adjusted perfectly for my taste . I play anything from Metal to blues . I had absolutely no problems that previous posters complain of . The input was tight ,the pickups were solid in place , the frets were not at all sharp . Ibanez has improved this guitar over the years obviously . I use a noise gate so to say whether this guitar is noisy or not is a mute point . Get s good processor and this guitar will make you a hero is no time . I just cannot say enough about the action and playability of this guitar !! I love the neck with a passion ! Love, love, love !!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar can do whatever you need it to ..PERIOD ! You need to keep in mind that it was $150.00 USD , so if you are touring the world I am not sure what it could withstand . You could beat the finish with a hammer I think and it would hold up . Very solid piece of equipment indeed . My strap buttons are tight and have never come loose at all . I depend on this guitar as my main piece of equipment , and it doesn't let me down..EVER!!! I am 37 years old and I have been around a bit with music . This is a fine guitar for beginner or intermediate , or pro who is low on cash . Nice work Ibanez !!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had a need to contact Ibanez at all !

Overall Rating : 10
I hate to keep repeating myself but this guitar is a solid Ibanez and is way more than you are expecting for the money ...buy it !!! I love the neck on this guitar the most of all ! So fast and smooth ,and the action can't be beat at all ! If someone stole this I would find them and torture them until they gave it up !! I love this guitar and I have owned quite a few over the past 17 years . I suggest investing in a good pre-amp no matter that the guitar . A big mistake of beginners is expecting to plug a guitar into an amp and getting the sound of their dreams . Your amp isn't really the big decision , it's the effects processor of choice . Again , enough about that ...this guitar's playabilty is crazy fast ! The finish is beautiful . You will want to polish it over and over and just look at it when you are not playing . Ibanez offers the best beginner guitar at a very affordable price .You will not believe the quality for such a low price-tag !!!

Sound : 4
I didn't like the sound of the factory pickups: PSND1 (H) Neck PU PSND2 (H) Bridge PU. I replaced them with the 13.6k Ohm output EMG-HZ4's. The H4A with the Alnico 5 magnet is in the neck position and the H4A ceramic magnet is in the bridge position. It is a crying shame that nobody at Ibanez put this combination together for production.

I added a phase switch for a hollow twangy sound, and I am considering tweaking the tone a bit by replacing the factory .50pF capacitor with a .47pF.

I give the sound a 4, but after my mods it is a 9.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Even though this was a used purchase, the shop offered free setup. The action is as low as it can go without buzzing, but it is still a little too high for what I like. I am now thinking about replacing the factory tremlo bridge with a Hipshot Trilogy, and maybe addressing the action problem at that time.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar was purchased used, with a divot taken out by the jack. It appears that it was dropped or made some other contact with a surface with a corner. That flaw was hardly detectable, and the neck was straight. I also had to replace frets 3, 4, and 5 due to some nicks and slices out of them; maybe from the same impact as above or another impact. Whatever the cause of damage, it has held up for the 3 1/2 years of live week-end playing that I have owned it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had to deal with Ibanez for anything relating to this guitar.

Overall Rating : 8
I used to play this guitar through a rackmount Chandler Tube Driver, Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah pedal, an ART MultiVerb, and a Behringer GX212 Ultratwin. Last year I replaced the Tube Driver and Cry Baby with a Behringer V-Amp Pro and a Behringer FCB1010.

Was made 2003-2004. Has 22 Medium Frets. HH setup with 3 way selector, one tone one volume. Tone doesn't do much except make it sound real high or real low. Comes with Ibanez powersound pickups, Blue finish that looks deep purple, tremolo... Looks kind of like a HH strat body more than traditional RG.

Sound : 7
Plays punk and metal ok. I play it with a Crate SS 30W and a Digitech Hot Head Distortion pedal. The pickups sounded good on bridge with distortion, however the neck seemed useless. Replaced them with Duncan Designed pickups, and the sound improved immediately. It went out of tune a lot so I had the tremolo screwed down into the body and added Grover tuners. It sounds good for Rock/Punk now and even distorted blues. Had to spend $160 to fix it up. Paid $160 for it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Had the guitar set up at the store when I bought it, and then reset up when I replaced tuners and pickups. There were no flaws in it and the frets on mine were perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I've had it for 8 months now. I guess as a beginner guitar you start to want to fix it up or replace it as you get better. The finish is awesome, however i would not trust it to stay in tune unless you got new machine heads.

I like how this guitar plays, and it does sound good for the money. When
I got it re-fitted with Duncan Designed Pickups and Grover tuners, I had the Guitar Tech test it on a full stack marshall and it sounded way better than a Fender Standard Strat. I would buy a better guitar next time, or keep with the "Franken-Strat" theme.

i dont know when it was made. it was made in china though. it has 22 slick frets with a... solid top. 2 black control knobs (vol, tone)... blah no point in finishing. i dont want to repeat.

Sound : 10
my style is very odd. a lot of van halen like lead mized with izzy style rhythm all swirled into a pinkfloyd like thingy.. yea. i use a marshall valvestate 65 with a digitech rp50 and a dinosaur flanger (something i got somewhere). its rarely ever noisy unless i atually shake it near the amp then i get some cool ass feedback. with dean markley strings, this mofo sounds like rain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
at first i had a problem with the fret buzz but i got that fixed pretty easily. my pickups were fine. my bridge, is probably my pride and joy. i dont know where the eff these people get the fact that the trem goes out of tune. out of about 10 dif guitars i know with a trem, mine is the only one that can be divebombed by van halen himself and still be able to play perfectly in tune. the frets were slick like oil and i havent cut myself once. i had to get my neck adjusted once but that was because i was jumping around with it too much.

Reliability/Durability : 7
the guitar in itself can withstand my craziness but the stupid effing strings couldnt. so far i havent had the strap fall off. other idiots using my guitar made it fall but i caught it. this is my main guitar and a i have a les paul knock off for my back up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
none so far

great guitar period.

Features : 8
The features of this guitar are about what you'd expect to pay $160 for, plus a little more. Made in China, or so it said on the sticker on the back of the headstock. Solid alder body with a thick (but not totally nuke-proof)black lacquer coat. One-piece maple neck with a straight headstock (not angled-back, meaning you need string trees which hurt string-to-string balance) with cheap 6-in-line non-locking tuners. 25.5" neck scale, lacquer finish on the back of the neck (as opposed to a satin or tung oil finish, both of which play faster since they're less sticky. The frets are medium-sized, and are comfortable to play. All this came with was the arm to the whammy bar.

Sound : 9
Starting off with a 12-watt beginner crate amp, I thought this guitar was horrible. It was comfortable to play, but it sounded awful. Then I got a distortion pedal, and even though the pedal was a cheap Boss DS-1, the sound improved tons, and I was thrilled since all I knew was power chords anyway. As I got better and began playing with drummers and full bands, I started to hate my small amp. So, I got a used all-tube Crate VC-5212 amp. 50 watts, 2 channels, reverb, equalizers. It changed my life. All of a sudden I was getting real tone coming from my guitar. I can get Hendrix-Little Wing-type tones from this with the reverb up, with the distortion anything from just a little crunch to enough distortion for Nirvana-ish music. All those who think this guitar sounds bad probably are playing through cheap amps. You'll be suprised to know that this guitar can sound professional and make great music with the right rig. New pickups might help, since it does still lack a little tone compared to more expensive guitars, but for the price I really doubt you can do better. Miles ahead of any squier or other beginner guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I can't say how well it was set up from the factory since I am pretty sure the music store I bought it from set it up themselves. However, with the bridge pickup raised up near the strings and the neck pickup lowered to about half a centimeter above the pickguard, it sounds great. If you take off the pickguard you will see that the pickup cavity is swimming pool-routed, meaning that there is no wood between the pickups. The less wood a guitar is made out of, especially around the pickups, the less tone and sustain. However this is to be expected at such a low price. The only other flaws are that the tone pot does almost nothing to affect the tone and the volume pot has become scratchy and will cut out for a few seconds if I turn it too fast. It may just need to be cleaned. The frets are done suprisingly well, there was nothing loose when I got it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar seems to hold an alright tune as long as you aren't torturing the strings with very heavy strumming and trying to do dive-bombs on the whammy bar. The tuners and bridge are chrome-finished, so they won't really wear or tarnish. Today I dropped the guitar and it landed on the first string's tuning key. It snapped in half, so I now have to buy new tuners. I don't think it was the tuning key's fault that it broke, I think the same would have happened to any guitar. I was worried about the strap buttons after I got it, so I put on strap-locks. The work great, good for live playing because having your strap pegs fail is now one less thing to worry about. I think I can depend on the guitar, but I wouldn't gig without a backup (that is if I could afford a second guitar).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with Ibanez, however I am unsure if there is very good warranty service on this guitar since I don't think any warranty information was included with the guitar.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing this guitar for about a year and a half now, and it was my first electric. Although this is technically a beginner guitar, it has kept up with me, and after playing seriously every day I have become a pretty good guitarist. I would say this guitar can suit an intermediate player if that play has no choice but to stick with it due to having no money. I wouldn't say this is the best guitar in the world, because it obviously isn't. I would, however say it's the best guitar in its price range. Again, if you can't make this guitar sound good, blame your amp and your effects first. This guitar is willing to sound great if you are willing to make it sound great.

its a 2003 guitar. the tuners are average. it has very nice action comes with 2 humbuckers. the bridge is crappy. and the wood (alder) that the body is made out of is crap and its made in indonesia. the alder body is really light which is a good thing but its also not very strong. although i don't think that the spider-crack on the heel on my guitar will spread because i also have a 1999 RG570 which has the same crack but on that guitar its only a laquer crack.

Sound : 8
Im giving this an 8 because i don't like the sound it gives compared to my RG570. but its a very good metal/thrash/lead guitar. the humbuckers produce a nice crunchy sound. the pickups would only need to be switched if you can't afford a better guitar. i use this as a backup for gigging and my rg570 is my main guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
this guitar has awesome action like all ibanez's and i love playing them more than my 2000 gibson SG. i have 3 ibanez's 1 gibson and 2 fenders. the bridge is my main concern about this guitar. its not very good for whammying as it doesn't come back to tune as well as a floyd rose trem.

Reliability/Durability : 10
well i can tell you that it definately withstands live playing. im not too sure if it will last 10 years but i don't expect it to. the gloss finish is good quality and doesn't seem to be chipping anywhere. the general spider crack on the heel doesn't look like it will spread.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i've never needed to deal with ibanez because their guitars are just too awesome.

Overall Rating : 10
i've been playing for 4 1/2 years and im 14 years old nearly 15 and im a member of 3 bands currently and have used this guitar in 31 live concerts as a backup. only actually played it in 3 though. i have an ibanez RG570, RG1550, 62 remake fender stratocaster, fender telecaster not sure of year, and a 2000 Gibson SG. I love them all to bits and use them all for different styles. i use this as my metal/thrash backup. great guitar

mine is a 2003 ibanez grx 20 in black with chrome hardware. its made in china, and has 22 medium frets, on a decent rosewood fretboard. 3 way selector, 2 humbuckers ( powersound ) with passive elctronics. suprisingly its made of alder which is a feature on higher end jacksons and ESP, not basswood like ibanez, like a superstrat rather resembling an RG5550 in look. it has a Fat 10 bridge ( non locking floating like a floyd but doesnt lock at any point ), non locking tuners, 25.5" scale for the price i paid i give this guitar a 10 for features!

Sound : 8
the alder makes this a very punchy guitar. it was my first guitar but i pined after it even before i started playing because it was an ibanez, and not BY IBANEZ, like squier. this was my first guitar but i always wanted to play shred metal, and other such 80's stuff even when i couldnt afford a guitar. i play mostly shred metal and metallica, megadeath, zakk, BLS, and ozzy and this guitar was the best guitar in my opinion to learn on. its very crunchy, and even though the pickups are stock powersound, they r the best in this price range next to jackson or ESP pickups. it has a bright sound.

likes, look, feel
dislikes, i discovered EMG 3 months later

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
this guitar was set up perfectly, and i was a beginner and the guy did not rip me off and gave me a free set of GHS boomers, a setup and a 2 yr warranty. everything was well put in and felt like an ibanez, SOLID! no apparent flaws in the construction, and the heel didnt bother me too much. i must say though the selector is crap and i have mates with the same problem, so the same tech guy got me a special iabnez 5 way selector for free!

Reliability/Durability : 10
this guitar czan stand live playing, but not sustained live playing for one reason, the tremolo. its got the worst qualities of a floyd rose and a standard trem, cos it dont lock, and it definitely dont keep tune after a couple of divebombs. hardware was cool and solid except for the dicky selector which was replaced, finish is rock solid, but i think chips and dents look cool and then i dont have to worry about nicking it once in a while. i use this guitar as a backup on stage

i did some modifications to this guitar

1 EMG KH21 pickup and pickguard retrofit set of EMG 81 and controls in black

2 sperzel locking tuners in chrome, now i have the perfect floating tremolo ( advantages of a floyd like tuning stability, and being able to bend both ways freely, and a standard tremolo which means if i break a string i can finish my song and i can drop tune very easily! )

Customer Support : 10
the tech guy who sold it to me is a good dude, and di not rip me off even though eh could have. hats off to darren at mainline musicworks, wellington new zealand! i thank him a lot and his ongoing support makes him my no1 tech guy!

shes still on warranty until next january
repair was great and all shipping / courier cost were paid for

I love this thing. I traded my Jackson Performer for this because I love the way it plays and feels. It sounds better through my setup, also. I play it through a Randall RH200, and it has such a thick low end and a really sweet clean tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I got it used, but in good shape. It has the mirror pickguard with black finish, and it's fuggin' awesome-looking. The only beef I have with it is the way the pegs come loose, but that's because I thrash madly while playing live shows.

It's a tank, but nice and light. Like I said, the strap pegs are weak from much abuse.

I play tons of punk, Zeppelin, AC/DC, and other stuff along those lines. This guitar works great for all, it's very versitile, good for a beginner. I play through a Marshall amp with digi effects and it sounds great. especially with delay, and flange

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Only thing that has been changed in a year and a half were frets filed down. when i got it, the frets were so sharp on the ends that your hand could be cut.

My guess it was made 2002-2003. 22 medium frets. 3 way pickup selector and H/H config. Passive electronics. Nice maple very fast, rosewood fingerboard and an alder body. Mine is gloss black looks really nice. Strat style body with non locking tuners and mine came with a fat20 bridge sdo they must of screwed up at the factory in indosenia. no included accessories. for $400 AUS its pretty good.

the pickups are pretty shit and the volume knob hums at everything but 0 or 10. The guitar sounds alright for punk or metal/rock.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitars action was too low but easily fixed just raise the bridge. in australia the wood gets hot and swells and a little fret buzz happens but on cooler days its fine.

ive only had the guitar for about a month and the tuners are ok. i havent played live yet so i dont know much about the relaiblility.

Made in 2002 in China. 22 Frets. One volume, one tone, three-way pickup selector, H/H pickup configuration (my personal favorite on guitars), Powersound 1 humbucker at the Neck, Powersound 2 humbucker at the Bridge, Maple Neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Alder body, black finish, FAT10 standard tremolo that keeps getting out of tune, nonlocking tuners which I plan to replace with these tuners from Planet Waves that automatically cut off excess string after restringing, 25.5" scale, came with a couple of allen wrenches that I have lost. I wish this axe had a Floyd Rose, though. I also wish it were a baritone also, because I love to tune low.

Sound : 9
Using a clean sound is the only time I ever use the neck pickup or the middle position on the pickup switching. Using it through a 10-watt beginner amp that I have had for a year now and need a better amp. My amp has no fancy clean sounds, which is what I am looking for, but because it doesn't have enough distortion, I always use distortion pedals with it. The bridge pickup sounds the best when the tone is pushed all the way to 10, and use only that pickup with distortion. I use this axe with a Dime Crybaby Custom wah pedal, an Ibanez SM7 Smash Box distortion pedal, a DigiTech Metal Master distortion pedal, an Ibanez TS7 TubeScreamer overdrive (which I use in conjunction with either my amp's own distortion or with either of my Distortion pedals), and an Ibanez CF7 Chorus/Flanger. By the way, if you want a shorter sustain for any reason, use this guitar with factory-set pickups equipped through the SM7 smash box and turn the guitar's volume to about 1 or 2, maybe 3. I'm thinking of moving my Powersound 2 pickup to the neck position and getting a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker in the bridge position to push my sound further. I'm happy with my sound, I just want to push it harder.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
No complaints about my guitar's set-up at the factory. My only complaint is the bridge routing. I need to find someone who actually knows what they're doing when re-routing the bridge. Needless to say, I want a Floyd Rose on my axe, and if it's going to mess up in the long run, I'm better off getting an axe that already has a Floyd Rose on it.

Reliability/Durability : 5
Well, the tremolo cover does have some chips on two of the corners. I've never played it live, since I don't have a band and have never played live before. I have chipped the finish in two places on the body, but it still seems to last. I DEFINITELY need a backup guitar if I use it on a gig, because there's really no excuse not to have a backup guitar on a gig anyway. You'll never know when the wiring in your favorite axe screws up, or when you break a string. Speaking of strings, ALWAYS use GHS Boomers with this axe! Those things lasted me about 3 months on average, and sometimes even more. Just remember to adjust the spring tension on the tremolo cavity when using different gaguings, ESPECIALLY the Zakk Wylde boomers, which have 10, 13, and 17 on the higher notes, and 36, 52, and 60 on the lower notes. And if you use that particular gaguing, DON'T lose those allen wrenches like I did! It took forever to find the right size, and when I finally did, I had to mess with the Tremolo height just to get it parallel to the body. The only thing you have to worry about is the tuning. This tremolo takes a while to get all six strings in tune, however, I recommend cross-tuning; tuning both E-strings to pitch, then the B-string and A-string, then the G-string and D-string, and repeat until all six strings are in tune. All your strings will be in tune with the same tension on all six strings. I tried the Zakk Wylde GHS Boomers on this one, and cross-tuning not only saved me time, it also saved me a lot of trouble, because on two occasions, the tension of my A-string was so great that I actually had to use a string winder to get it tuned to pitch. Unless you have a locking nut alone or locking tuners, this is one tremolo you do NOT want to have, because it gets out of tune EVERY time you even try to dive-bomb it, or do any crazy string-bending. I have had some string buzz and bad action, and that is easily fixed, but I don't even know the first thing about truss rod adjustments, so I leave all truss rod adjustments to professionals. The tremolo is the main thing I hate about this axe!

Customer Support : 10
I don't know anything about a "warranty" for this axe, because it was not me who actually bought this guitar. My dad got it for me as a High School graduation present last year, and this is my first guitar. I have had to have it restrung a few times, and that's it. The people who restrung my guitar even showed me how to restring it myself, so I am really happy with the customer support I've gotten with this axe, even though I've only had to take it in for service about three times. As I mentioned earlier, the finish on the body was chipped in about two or three areas, exposing the wood. I was too lazy to take it in the shop, so my dad took a black permanent marker and colored in the exposed wood to hide it. I've never had a truss rod adjustment, so I need to learn how to do that, and learn what effects it has when you tighten it or losen it.

Overall Rating : 8
I've only been playing guitar for a year. It was my first axe, and for that reason, this guitar is definitely a keeper for me. The sound could've been improved if it were equipped with Duncan Distortion or EMG 81 humbuckers, however, the guitar, itself could DEFINITELY have been better if it had a Floyd Rose tremolo, and it would've fit my style better if the scale was 27" instead of 25.5". Other than that, I am pretty much satisfied with this instrument. I wish I had gotten an RG for my graduation present instead, though.

2 humbuckers. made in china. 22 medium frets. 1 volume, 1 tone. 3-way selector. alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. the neck feels great!

Sound : 7
good for rock. a bit noisy. im gonna replace the pickups with DiMarzios later.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
the action was not set-up good. way too low, tons of fret buzz. other than that, all is well.

Reliability/Durability : 7
after about 2 months of play the strap button screw started coming loose and then after about 3.5 months of play the strap button came straight out. can still use it but im gona get it fixed. i hope its still under warrenty. also, the strap always falls off. get a locking strap. i would use this as a back-up at a gig.

this is a good guitar for beginners. cheap. great for the price range. cheaper and better than a squier. as i metioned above the neck is very slim.

Everything's been listed.

Sound : 7
The original pickups were more noisy than I cared for, but I replaced them. However, the sounds are bright, like there's chorus on. The only two volume positions without hum are 0 and 10 (and I doubt you'd want 0). Tone isn't that much of a change, and anything between at 10 there's hum when running through effects such as distortion. I replaced the bridge pickup with a Duncan Designed HB103. I like the neck pickup for distortion though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
The setup wasn't the greatest. The action was decent. The floating bridge was (lack for a better word) crap. It used to go out of tune whenever the bridge moved (plus crappy tuners), so you'll probably have to tighten the tremolo springs significantly (be careful to loosen the strings first). After awhile, there was fret buzz, so I had to adjust the bridge screws. However, the bridge isn't adjustable (for height). I replaced the bridge with a hardtail bridge and replaced the tuners with Gotoh 16:1's.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Because it went out of tune, I played a small gig and it went out of tune too many times, so I would use this as a backup. But, with the changes I've made, I trust it and it's good.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
For the small price tag, it's a decent starter. But with the mods I made (which almost totalled the guitar price), it's a good guitar. Some things (like how much the cheap agathis weighs) can't be fixed, but everything else can. But for a price. So I would advise getting a better guitar for a little more money.

Made in 1998 in Indonesia. 22 Frets. 3 way selector. 2 Humbuckers, etc. Body is Metallic Blue, and is a very nice color. Overall, the guitar is extremelly light, which probably has something to do with the hollow sort of tone it has to it. Fretboard is Rosewood and is very comfortable. Strings are perfect distance from fretboard and it is very easy for a begginner to play.

Sound : 7
The Clean sound it puts out is decent, but nothing special. Distorted it sound very good, but it definetaly has a sort of "light" sound to it. It just sounds a bit to "processed", if you know what I mean. I have Ernie Ball Super Slinky's on it and Pinch Harmonics and Bends are extremely easy (Compared to my Les Paul). Overall, I like the sound, but it isn't nothing to jump for joy about. A beginner wouldn't know the difference (I didn't when I bought it).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The guitar was set up great. The paint is superb, but it does have a few chips (All being my fault), but those come with almost 5 years of abuse. One of the springs that hold the humbucker up did fall out and was lost, but I just fixed this myself. The 3 way-switch is started bugging out a few months ago, but I haven't check it out yet. Probably just bad wiring. Remember, this is after over 1000 hours of use and abuse, so like I said, I am not surprised.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Hardware is still good. Little wear on the fretts. Finish is still perfect. The strap buttons are decent. I haven't had it crap out on me yet during about 15 or so gigs I've put it through.

Never had to deal with Ibanez.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for almost 7 years and I own 3 other guitars (Including a Les Paul Classic). This is by far one of the best beginner guitars I've every played. If it was lost, I doubt I'd buy another, mainly because it gets little use anymore. Mainly it is just used for playing while sitting in front of the TV or the PC. I recommend this guitar to anyone learning to play. A great value for the money.

the sound is great, good for rock. i use it with 10 treb. 5 mid and 3 bass. i got a pedal (Boss MT-2) asbnd with the right settings it sounds just like nckelback. raise the pickups when u get the guitar.
i use a Fender Frontman 25R and its a bit noisy with overdrive on or at high volume.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
teh pickups were way to low when i got the guitar so i just raised them tand then it sounded better. there is a bit of fret buxxing at higher gauges so saty with the low gauge strings.

Reliability/Durability : 7
the output plug came totally loose once (some peices came off) so i had to tighten it then it was fine. the fisish is pretty thick but i chipped it some how. the strap buttons come loose a lot. its pretty strong but i still wouldnt use it at a gig w/o a b/u. personally, i wouldnt use any guitar at a gig w/o b/u (even a gibson)

Made in Indonesia.Has 22 frets. It comes in Black or Metallic Blue mine is metallic blue. It has a volume dial and a tone dial with a three way pickup selector for two humbucker pickups. It has the classic strat style body shape with a normal tremelo bridge. Standard tuning pegs and a nicely sized fret board.

Sound : 5
Ok sound for metal or rock music but struggles for clean stuff. I use it with an Epiphone ep-1000 and it sounds ok through my danelectro distortion. Quite hard to get a nice clean sound out of it theres too much bass so it gives quite a fat sound. Theres not much variety in the sounds it can produce but harmonics are extremely easy on it. I geaerally like the distorted sound but the tremelo sounmds really crap so i don't even bother with it any more.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Set up ok, the action is nice but the pickups neaded sorting but other than that pretty satisfactory

Reliability/Durability : 8
Very reliable. Has withstood a good beating from me and its previous owner and still works like a dream. It will play live fine and has done many a time but you need to keep your eye on the tuning. The electrics etc and solid and the neck is pretty indestructable but the body is weak and chips very easily. Paintwork will also last and it has nice solid strap buttons. Very dependable and would recommend gigging it.

Have had it over a year now and still working fine. Have added a range of pedals - a danelectro grilled cheese(beautiful), a bespeco wahwah pedal and a phaser. Ihave also just purchased a compressor but havnt had it long enough to comment.I love how hardwaring it is but the tremelo sucks and the tunings a bit eratic. Comparing it to other beginners guitars i feel it is the best you can buy. If it was stolen id be a bit pissed off and i'd probably set about getting a new one. Still desperate for a 50's Fender Telecaster Bond style.

This was my first guitar. It was good for playing metal but you just can't get any decent clean sounds out of it! I used it with a CRATE GX15 and a ZOOM 505II. The pickups were pretty silent. One thing I liked about this guitar is that it was pretty easy to get pinch harmonics out of it

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action was pretty decent for such a cheap guitar. The pickups needed some adjustment. And the tunning pegs well....sucked! It was a pain in the ass to tune it!

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar can whitstand live playing, it won't sound good though. Solid strap buttons. The only problems with the hardware are the ***** tunning pegs and the pickup switch(it started making wierd noises after a while)

i play metal and rock, which this guitar suits. the bridge pick-up is great with distortion. my amp is a Marshall G15RCD. like everyone else has said, with clean channel the sound is not great. not enough treble and too much bass (even when amp settings changed). but compared to my Pro Axe guitar this is excellent.
i will definitely change pickups soon

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
completely black including scratch plate. fairly roughed up, it is s/h, and the fret-board was quite dirty but this was soon fixed up. as far as the body fair few scratches were evident.

Reliability/Durability : 8
as far as build quality goes this guitar is solid. considering it is a base model guitar. however it does go out of tune more than i would like. all switches etc are fine nothing too loose. i could use it for gigs but the tuning can be a worry.

I know this guitar was probebly made by some chineese kid in china or something.it has agithis body,22 frets, psnd pickups, and this guitar comes in black or metallic blue, mines is in metallic blue.yeah, your basic first guitar.hell, its a great first guitar, actually not many other first guitars are better.i had a great 1+ years with this guitar.i hate the tremelo though.

Sound : 7
This guitar sounds good for metal music,or atleast sounds good for a first guitar for metal music.I use this thing with my marshall avt20 and some of my pedlas.i recomend changing these pick ups. What made me like this guitar less was when i was playing van halen and nirvana on it,it sounded really bad.but you could get a good metallica sound on this guitar, you could try getting the korn sound by tuning this this 5 steps down, after saying that you would probebly forget trying to sound like korn on all 6 strings.but this was a great deal for $160,you get what u pay for.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
No,i didnt pay atention to facory set up.When i got it,it played fine. What i hate about the finish is how easily it chips.everything on this guitar is basicly just non expensive stuff like the pick ups.oh yeah, tremelo sux ass.but other that that, this guitar is fine.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I never played live before, but ive played with my friends before and ummm im sorry but this guitar wasnt too great.no,u need to get new hardware for this unless u dont wanna play live and arent a tone-snob and just wanna play this guitar for fun, practice.Hell ive played this guitar almost nonstop for 1+ years, there hasnt been any thing wrong with it.solid strap buttons.depend on this this only for practice, dont try to play this thing live, and trust me this sint the best guitar in the world, but a good first one.

made in 2001, dont know where.22 frets, solid top, volume, tone, 3 way toggle p/up. its passive, dont kow what p/ups, in a H/H, S/H. made of mahogany, kinda strat style, but lighter.

Sound : No Opinion
it soudns alright, playing through an assortment of BOSS and ibanez pedals into a line 6 spyder. it soundsquite good actually, yet i play a dark kind of metal/nu-metal, so it doesnt quite work out, yet it is just a entry level guitar. its pretty good for only $400 NZ dollars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
it is alright, every now and then, the springs attached to the tremlo will pop out, but thats fixable, it tends to go out of tune after playing 4 songs, in E, but if u play in a massive drop tuning eg. drop C it will go out of tune every song, so add another spring in the back of it. the p/ups are sweet as. it was pretty perfect when i bought it brand new.

Reliability/Durability : 7
it will work on stage, but u will need a back up, coz this is only a entry level guitar, so its pretty shitty, yet it will last, i use this as my back up and my 7 string for my gigging guitar. it will last, and so will the strap buttons, no matter how much you jump around. ths finish is good as, it leaves streaks of where you hav been strumming, yet that wipes away.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with ibanez crew. just with the place i bought it from...mainline music works in NZ. never needed it 2 get repaired, i look after my guitars, it was, and i dont know if it still is under warranty.

This is a 2002 model as it was bought this year. It has an agathis body, maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. 22 jumbo frets, white dot fret markers, slim and comfortable neck comparable to a Wizard II style mixed with a Fender Mexi Strat neck. Older style covered tuners, 2 humbuckers, 1 volume, 1 tone, 3 way blade switch mounted to a black pickguard and the paintjob is a decent black finish. The bridge is an Ibanez 2 point non locking trem with a push in trem bar. It came with 2 allen wrenches and a waranty card. I do not own this guitar, but I suggested it to my brother in law. He went ahead and bought it and he likes it's features. I do too. It has everything a beginner needs.

Sound : 10
My bro in law bought a CRATE GX15 along with the guitar. He lives in an apartment so it works out good for him. It has a cool vintage humbucker tone to it and sounds about like a medium output. It kinda dies out a little when playing leads, but sound killer while playing power chords and what not. Clean it has a great sound. The neck bucker has a smooth jazz sound to it, but seems to be a little higher in output. Maybe the pickups were installed backwards. Who knows. I tried out drop D tunings, B tunings and even C tunings with the stock strings. It sounded pretty beefy. I liked it. My bro was impressed as well. We both share the same musical interests. Basicaly 80's metal, punk and nu-metal like System of a Down, Korn, Deftones, etc. It covered SOAD very well. Especialy tunes like Bounce and Chop Suey. For what the guitar is, it sounded great. Better than I expected.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
This was very poor. My poor brother in law has no idea what to do with a guitar. He's had it for 7 months and has not been able to do anything with it. The neck was bowed back to the point where the strings were flat against the frets. The bridge was nailed down low and it was a total mess. I spent about 20 minutes with it and got the bow out of the neck, raised the bridge and alligned the neck. I got it tuned up and had to raise the bridge pickup as the output was way too low. The neck pickup was alot higher in output. I didn't have to touch it at all. Everything else was good. This had to be the shittiest factory setup I have ever seen. Once everything was adjusted, it kicked ass. The frets need to be smoothed out on the edges. You could probably cut yourself playing it. When my brother in law comes out this way I'm going to sand it for him. He lives in a very rural area of Northwest Kansas so he doesn't have a guitar tech near by.

Reliability/Durability : 10
After I banged on it for all 9 days of my vacation it held up pretty well. I would say as a beginner's axe it is pretty solid. I have seen a professional guitarist in a big blues band out of El Paso use one as his one and only. Thats why I suggested it to my Brother in Law. It will hold up for him. I'm sure it will. Now one thing that surprised me was the tuning stability with this Ibanez trem. The nut slots are wide and give the string alot of room to travel. I divebombed this trem and it held it's tune. I divebomb it at least 30 times in a row and it still pretty much stayed in tune. I was shocked. It has to be the best non locking trem I have ever used. Ibanez gets 2 thumbs up for this one.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A

Overall Rating : 10
I give him a few more months and my bro will be asking about new pickups and other bells and whistles. If this guitar came with a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge it would be damn near perfect for me. My only issue with it was the weak output of the bridge pickup. Ibanez makes a damn fine cookie cutter guitar for the money. In certain circles Ibanez is a dirty word. I have owned 3 in my time, an RG 270 DX, RG 320 and an RG 7420. All were great. It's no wonder they are played by alot of the guitar gods like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani. I'm a diehard Jackson and Fender player, but I think I'm going to get back into an Ibanez pretty soon. From their cheapest model to thei Jem series they are kick ass all the way.

it should be fine for playing live.on the hardware only the tuners seem cheep...the bridge i've never had any problems with.the finish is pretty thick and should last with little abuse.strap buttons are solid but EVERYONE should use straplocks if playing live.

22 frets, basswood body, HH pickup config, stock powersound pickups [crap] metalic blue body.

Sound : 4
ok, i'll start out by stressing the fact that these are stock pickups. that and ibanez went the cheap way and did a pool pickup routing rather than individual pickup holes. that's good and bad. the good thing is you can do any pickup config, provided you buy a new pickguard, the bad thing is you lose a LOT of sound quality. the bridge pickup is alright, considering it's a stock pickup. the neck pickup is just...bad...really muddy...crap.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
as with most ibanez guitars there's fret buzz. especially when i put new strings on it. i don't like the bridge. i break too many strings on it. probably because i play really hard on it, get into the music, do some wild stuff.

Reliability/Durability : 6
this had damn well better withstand live playing. i'm playing live in about a week with this cuz it's all i've got. anywho, the tuners just suck, the strap buttons loosen every so often. i don't like the frets, or the bridge. too many strings broken on it. however, i've dropped it several...million times and nothings happened to it, except for it going a bit out of tune.

i'm having to gig with this without a backup. oh well...otherwise i wouldn't. i'd use a better guitar. the thing is i have to tune it down to C [deftones covers], and if i rented a better guitar, i couldn't do that. you need a thicker gauge of strings.

Customer Support : No Opinion

i've been playing for about 2 years now. i know, i know, i shouldn't be so picky about guitars. that's what everyone says. because i'm "still a beginner". however, i've exceeded my skills past this guitar. to prove this, take my word for this, i went into a tom lees music store and played a PRS Santana SE, and i suprised myself as to how well i could play. it's my guitar that's the problem.

i wish i'd bought the rg170. even though it's bottom of the line RG, it'd still be better. soon i'm getting a custom guitar off warmoth. telecaster body, wizard [really thin] neck, extra jumbo frets, seymour duncan pickups, anda pick up config that'll knock your socks off. ultimately i'm hoping to have my custom guitar, and also a fender teleplus. i'll dig one up from somewhere. i love that guitar. so wicked.

backing off a little here. it's a good guitar for beginners. but i'm past that, i need a better guitar. i want a thinner neck, better pickups, and all that.

if it were stolen or lost, i might be sad only cuz it's the only guitar i got, otherwise, i'd just buy a custom off warmoth...i'll explain later.

Made in USA (2000). 22 frets. It has a volume and a tone knob. A 3 way selector. Two powersound pasice humbuckers. Made of Alder. All the guitar (also the pickguard) is black and has a strat body. It has a crappy Fat10 bridge and also a crappy Standard tuners and strap buttons. The neck was made of rosewood, has medium frets and its very thin and fast.

Sound : 9
I play modern rock, punk, and metal and it sounds very fine (Metallica, Blink 182, RHCP, Nirvana, etc). I use a Yamaha 25w amp, boss delay and distortion pedals, and a ibanez tube screamer pedal, and it rocks!!. No noisy and has a absolute clean sound. You cant make to much because of the pickups, thats the only things i dont like.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It was perfectly made, Ibanez did a great job for this guitar, all was perfectly made!!!. The things i change (bought) for my guitar were: locking tuners, a vintage tremelo bridge, strap buttons, a black pickguard, a nut, two powerfull potentiometers and a 3 way selector, new capacitors and ground wiring, and also the pickups, i bought a dimarzio paf pro and a dimarzio super distortion. With all this it look pretty and "THIS BITCH REALLY ROCKS" !!!!!. Without this changes i can put a 6 but with this changes y can put it a 20!!!. With all this changes this cheap guitar can cost $1000!!. Until now this is the only cheap guitar that can be so good with so many replacements.
Prices (this are aprox.): Guitar ($200), Bridge ($70), Tuners ($50), pickguard ($30), 2 Good Potentiometes ($40), Strap Buttons ($5),
3 Way Selector ($20), Capacitors & Ground Wiring ($30), Nut ($5),
Both Pickups ($140). All this is about $590, the replacements you can bought it when you want so you cant feel that were so expensive. I could say that this is my cheaper and best guitar i have.
I put a ten because of the replacements, without....., the same.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This is a very good guitar, but with the time so many things can be bad. I almost say it.

Never work with Ibanez. But in the store I bought it they werent friendly. The warranty was about 20 months but i never used it.

I have been playing for 4 years, and this guitar is better that my Gibson Epiphone SG special, and other guitar... i could say that a expensive guitar can be better, but i like this, it never disapointed me.

I am in a Heavy Metal Band and trust me. WE PLAY HEAVY. This guitar works great with distortion..... but somtimes i like to kick back and relax and play it clean when I am by myself.I have read the other reviews they have all said that this guitar sucks when it comes to clean sounds.BUT IT DOESN'T. I play clean w/ it, and it sounds great and i still have the original pickups.I play punk clean heavy ska and jazz and all of tese types of music sound good on it.

The people at Ibanez are awseome. They actually care about the things they are making. Everything is setup properly. I wouldknow i have taken it apart.

Stated in other reviews

tuners suck but I can live with them

Sound : 8
I mostly play metal/rock, dropped C, detuned stuff and it fits fine. Right now I'm going guitar>tuner>boss dist.>ibanez chorus/flang.>fender amp. The neck pu is boarderline muddy but with the right eq is a little better, bridge pu is loud and bright. I think this guitar has a lot of variety for a cheap guitar, one of the best sub-$200 guitar I've played.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
bought used, everything was great (fixed by frist owner)

Reliability/Durability : 6
This guitar would withstand gigs very well. everything is soild, well almost everything: the jack was loose when I got it and if a play a long time it gets a little loose and hums, but then I just screw it in and it's fine. Always gig with a backup

Basic beginner guitar. 22 frets. Two humbuckers. A volume and a tone knob. 3 way selecter. Normy trem. Made of agatis with rosewood fingerboard. Nothing fancy. Mine's actually a grx22 which is exclusive to daddy's junky music. Exact same thing only without the pickguard.

Sound : 6
This thing sounds great when played with overdrive or distortion on. The clean sound is horrible though. It sounds too muddy and bassy. Not bright enough. That's 'cause the pickups really suck. Need to replace them. They get too much humming and I think the grounding or something is messed up 'cause it humms a little louder when I'm not touching the strings. When the tone knob is set to low tone the humming goes away. I play offspring and it can get a great tone like that. So basically it's great for rock but horrible at anything clean.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The setup at the factory was pretty good. The inotation was acceptable (problems only noticable with the tuner) but I had to fix it slightly. The pickups needed to be adjusted a little the poles were kinda messed up. That was a pain 'cause I had to loosen the strings and take the pickup out and when I tightened them back up one snapped. As far as the finish it's great. Perfectly smooth, doesn't dent or scratch easily, nice and shiny. The neck is nice and thin so the action is great. The frets have no problems. For a budget guitar, it's put together very well. I've seen other cheap guitars with horrible finish problems and glue all over and loose frets and knobs but this is fine.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This thing seems like it will last. I've bumped it on lots of stuff and it doesn't dent. All the knobs are still nice and tight after almost a year. Had to tighten the nut that holds the socket in place 'cause it was loose when I bought it but it's since been fine. The tuning isn't too good though. Compared to my other guitar that'll stay tuned for months, this detunes after about a week. I could play this thing live without a backup. I don't know why everybody thinks they couldn't. Strings don't break that easily. Perfectly reliable other than the tuning.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
Overall this thing is great, especially for a budget guitar. I'd probably not buy another one, I'd buy an rg series or maybe a tele for clean sound. But if I didn't have much money I'd buy another. It's perfect for a beginner 'cause of the nice action on it. Very much better than I expected before I bought it.

Made in Indonesia. Not sure which year, probably '98. 1 volume, 1 tone, 3-way selector. Standard tremelo. Double Powersound humbuckers - neck and bridge position. Agathis body, rosewood neck (i think). Metallic blue finish. Standard tuners, graphite nut. Bottom of range features from Ibanez i guess.

Sound : 8
OK, Since this is my first electric it's impossible for a knowledged opinion, but personally i don't mind the sound at all. I'm using it with a Peavey Blazer 158 II amp - just a little 15w practice amp - and it gives me a great clean sound, and with the lead channel on, the distortions pretty cool too.
The pickups? Well, seems like they're not everyone's (reviews below) fave, but i don't mind - hey for a bottom range electric, it's still a great sound.
Quite versatile, although i'm not using the neck pickup much. Have to agree that the sound IS a bit muddy for my liking and i can't get a good sound out of it no matter how i try tweak the guitar/amp. The sound from the bridge pickup's doing great stuff though, especially with some distortion.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The feel of the guitar is excellent, especially the neck. Easy to play. Action is very good, however there are some fret buzzes on the low strings around the 11th fret onwards (too low?)... or could be because of the frets themselves.
The finish is great! Couldn't have been happier with it - no flaws that i have noticed yet. Nice metallic blue body has drawn some compliments from couple of mates. Stays in tune nearly all the time, so i'm pretty happy with the tuners. The nut is pretty scraggy though... might be looking for a replacement soon!
But considering this is the cheapest that Ibanez make, it's a very well made guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 9
First guitar, so i feel attached to it and will never sell it. But it feels like it will last me for some time yet.
Strap buttons are pretty small... i tied a little thin rope around the base's button and now my strap never falls off. Minor annoyance fixed!
The whole guitar to me just feels WELL constructed. Yep, it's good stuff.
Maybe i will save up to replace the pickups some time later on, but in the meantime it's spot on.

Customer Support : 7
Never dealt with the company. About to get a better setup at place of purchase along with string change. They never mentioned anything about a warranty though. Hmm.

(I'll give Troy Music a 7)

Overall Rating : 10
I've gotten a strong impression from Ibanez now. I love that the GRX20's so nice to play on. The action's perfect and the neck has a great feel. Good solid construction that feels like it'll last and looks and a finish that are pretty darn good compared to it's competitors and most importantly, sounds pretty decent too. Keen price too. Yep, I'm just gonna get me some fresh strings on it and who'll be the happy monkey?

Like i said... it is my first electric, and it's everything i've wanted to start mucking around with. Great value.
If it were stolen or lost, and i'm looking for another guitar in this price range... i'll probably go for the Ibanez GAX70 or 75(75's got a D-tuner gimmick) I think it's pretty similar in hardware department but i want it. In fact, that's the next guitar i'm saving up towards, however it's gonna be my platform for customising haha.

I brought this guitar because i really wanted an Ibanez. So i brought a GRX20 as that was the cheapest they made. I intened to buy this as a spare guitar, but i ended up using it more than my otehr one. It's great! The neck is smooth, it's comfortable to play and the tone is just great, although the clean sound does gets little crackly if you turn up too loud. It's also simple to use. One volume and one tone. that is great for me as i like things simple. But if you want a more vesatile guitar, you may want to look elsewhere. Also the tremolo can pull strings out of tune so soloists might not like this. but when run though distortion it sounds thick and cool.

Sound : 7
I play heavy hardcore thrash metal. I've had my guitar set up to be tuned to Dropped-B tuning (Dropped-D Down 1 1/2 steps). I own a marshall VS100R and it it sounds great when i run my Ibanez through it. It has a sharp cutting sound which i really like and it is similar in shape to the strat, onlt with two humbucker pickups. WHile the neck pickup is a little muddy for my liking, the bridge postion sounds clean and clear. However, it is not very versatile, so look elsewhere if you want to try different sounds

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I brought this guitar from a company that deal in Ibanez guitars and it was in perfect condition. I haven't had a problem with it yet.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've yet to use this guitar in a live gig, but when i pratice with it i can't get enough. i spend hours playing this guitar, even when i don't plug it in. It has a great neck and i could play on it for the rest of my life. THe body is quite tough as well, I've dropped it accidently a couple of times and it still was in good condition.

Overall Rating : 10
Who cares if this isn't one of Ibanez's most known brands? It sounds great, the neck is great and it is very simple to play. A great guitar for both beginners and proffesionals if you ask me. The only major concern is that it can go out of tune once in a while, but with careful looking after, it can last you a lifetime.

I think this thing was made in Indonesia, maybe in 99, not sure...
22 frets, 1 volume 1 tone, 3-way selector, ugly trem, H-H configuration. It's got an Agatis body and rosewood fingerboard I think...It's a strat shaped thing with standard tuners.

Sound : 7
I wouldn't say this is a guitar apt for any specific style...it's a beginner's instrument for God's sake! It's designed to play whatever without being designed for any specific sound, it's just made for you to learn before you buy your one of a kind vintage custom made guitar from Heaven. Sometimes the pickups are a bit noisy, nothing a noise supressor effect can't handle anyways. I like the way it's easy to get the grip of guitar playing with this thing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I'm not sure how it was set up, just a little detuned and stuff but no dings or scratches. No real flaws, just some fingerprints but that's all.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I guess it can withstand live playing, but as anything, if you abuse it it'll get hurt. Everything on it can last if you take care of it, unless you're the kind that treats your stuff like crap...the finish looks durable, I've bumped mine against walls and other assorted surfaces but no big deal. I wouldn't really depend on it because it tends to detune frequently, not too much but sometimes a whole half step...then again maybe it's because it's old. And of course I wouldn't use this guitar with no backup (Supposing I took it to a gig), actually I wouldn't use *any* guitar with no backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with them...I love messing with my stuff by myself. It's got a one year warranty I think.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall it's a great beginner's instrument for the price, pretty good quality considering it's in the 100-250 dollars price range. I can't really say I love this thing, but I have to admit I have a sentimental bond with it, it was my first guitar (*sniff*). If it were stolen or lost, I'd try to recover it just because I feel attached to it but supposing I had no relationship (?) with it I'd just go get a better thing.

Purchased this guitar in '98. a THIN and FAST 22 fret rosewood neck with tall & narrow frets. Solid top, 3-way switch, volume & tone knob working in a dual-humbucker setup (passive pickups). VERY light basswood body with a jewel blue finish. A standard 6 screw tremolo, plastic nut, and vintage tuners.

Sound : 9
I play a lot of modern rock, with a little jazz mixed in, and it works fine...There's absolutely NO noise...I replaced the bridge pickup with a DANGEROUSLY high output Bill Lawerence humbucker, and I gutted ALL the wires and replaced them with 12-gauge wire. This guitar is borderline-out of control!!!! With the bridge pickup selected, it sounds very raw & crunchy, but by switching to the mid position, I'm able to get some real mellow tones like a Gibson ES-335. The neck position just adds to that mellow feel, but with some increased bass response. Very fat sounds no matter where the switch is, though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When I puchased this guitar in '98, it was set up very well. PERFECT INTONATION and low action. However, after the first string change, it got CONSIDERABLY worse. I did fix this with a few truss rod adjustments. I did find it necessary to give the tremolo bridge an overhaul. I replaced all the stock springs, put new Graph-Tech bridge saddles on it, and new graphite strings trees. Now, it never goes out of tune, even when I decide to get nuts and dive-bomb the bar all the way to the pickguard. The tuners are less-than-stellar, but they work...I HIGHLY recommend the graphite saddles/string tree replacement, though. While the finish looks really nice, I've had to repeatedly polish and clean it to make it look it's best.

Reliability/Durability : 7
First and Foremost, Ibanez has pulled a fast one over the consumers with their choice of hardware on this guitar. The hardware straight out of the factory was CHEAP!!! However, I couldn't deny the tone of this guitar, so I replaced most of it...the only pieces that still remain are the tremolo block, and the tuners. I contacted JW custom pickguards for a replacement of the paper-thin black one it came with from the factory. With the new diamond-plate aluminum pickguard, this guitar looks like a killer. I also replaced the fender-clone volume and tone knobs with chrome dome-shaped knobs. The strap buttons are PISS POOR!!!! Upon replacing them with Schaller straplocks, the button hole stripped out. Once I fixed that problem, it's been fine. Now that I've totally gutted this guitar, and put it back together, I have no fears about using this guitar up on stage without another guitar.

Customer Support : 10
They were VERY helpful when I requested a schematic of the wiring when I replaced the bridge pickup, and information on the finish when I wanted to match the color for some gig scars, and to re-finish another guitar in this beautiful blue finish.

Overall Rating : 10
I love fixer-upper guitars...This guitar had "fix me up" written all over it in the store. I've been playing for 8 years, now, and while it seemed very out of place to work at my level of playing, I was able to add the parts and accessories to it that I needed to work perfectly for my style. I love this guitar, and all those people who watch my band and I play say they couldn't picture me playing another guitar. So I would venture to say that I love this guitar!!!!

Sound : 8
I play several styles of music including blues, rock and christian. I have never had a problem with the tones of this instrument not fitting with what I am playing. If it was up to me I would have added another tone control and coil tapped the neck pick up, but I have found ways to work around that. This instrument is probably not for metal or shred players but will fill all other needs. It has a full bright sound that can easily be modified with any EQ.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The set up from the factory was fair, but not quit to my taste. Since I don't really use the tremalo bridge anyways, I completly bottomed it out which accomplished several things. First, it brought the strings closer to the neck for easier playing. Second, it greatly increased the ability to properly adjust the intonation. Third, It stays in tune once you get the strings well stretched. when I bottomed the bridge the higher strings, E and B had a tendancy to buzz after the 12th fret, but with a minor saddle adjustment all is well. The finish was and still is flawless.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have been playing for over twenty years now doing everything from garage band to touring band and this instrument is adaptable to any type of player from beginner to pro. I have not had any problems with hardware or electronics and do not foresee any to come. I have played various makes Including Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, Electra, Hondo, Squire and even 2 home made instruments. I would put this instrument up there with any of them.

Customer Support : 10
Always have had good reports with Ibanez in the past.

Overall Rating : 9
I use my GRX20, an Ibanez PT3DX multiprocessor, an ARION HU-8300 Quartz tuner and a Crate GX-20R amp exclusivly for my live playing. The tonal qualities that this set up is capable of is mind staggering considering the price range I stayed in for this particular rig. From beginner to pro, I don't see how you could possibly go wrong. As a twenty year vet in the music scene my only minor complaint would be that it is not the flashiest guitar on the market, but if you can really play, a $30.00 Sears catalog special will sound good in your hands. So give this guitar a good "honest" try and you may be suprised.

This guitar was made in Indonesia. It was bought, new, for just under $200. A great guitar for the money. Standard tuners, standard tremolo, and two humbuckers. The neck has 22 frets. It is a dark, almost purple, blue color. The pickguard is black. It has one volume and one tone knob. String-thru body bridge, strat style body, and a 3-way pickup selector switch. I suppose it was made in 1999.

Sound : 9
I play nearly every kind of music and I can just about always get the right sound. It is a very good guitar for playing distortion because it has the two humbuckers. The guitar never puts off any unwanted noise or sounds. The sound is very bright on the bridge pickup and slightly darker on the neck pickup. I like the thin neck because it seems to be faster. Use your amp along with this guitar and you can get great bluesy sounds or a metal type sound. This guitar is very versatile, especially for any beginner.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have played this guitar exactly the way it was set up from the factory and it is great. I had to adjust the pickups once because they were setting too close to the strings, but it was an easy fix. The guitar has been banged around a little, but it has nothing other than a few minor dents, no paint chips. For an easy setup guitar with great sound, this is it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have played live with this guitar several times and it has yet to show any type of wear and tear. All parts of the body are still in place and functioning well as is the neck. The strap buttons never seem to be a problem. A very dependable guitar. I don't have a back up guitar and I have trusted this GRX20 and it hasn't let me down.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never needed Ibanez's help for any reason.

Overall Rating : 8
I have had this guitar for about a year and a half and it is the guitar for any live performing. I have no regrets about buying this guitar, and it is highly recommended to every guitar player out there. If I were to lose this guitar I would buy another Ibanez, not neccesarily this model, but another Ibanez nonetheless. I chose this guitar because it was the cheapest and best for a beginner. I love this guitar!

This guitar is not a serious tone machine so don't expect it to be.On the other hand it is the best guitar in this price range and probably the coolest looking. You can use it for any musical style you wish it's all up to personal prefrences.I am using a marshall RCD15 with no effects. (I like it better that way!) The pickups are very fuzzy when used through a distortion/overdrive unit, but that's to be expected on a 140 pound axe.The pickups themselves yield a very dirty
sound when cranked up,but turn down the volume knob to 8 and you've got a really great 60's rock lead sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar is very nice for the price(140)if you try at least two or three different examples. The guitar shop should set it up before selling it but probably havn't so definatly try before you buy.Everything on mine was just about right, except for the GIO logo on the headstock which was slightly rubbed off.

This guitar is just as robust as the next as long as you don't shoot it.I have banged it so many times and all i've got to show for it is a couple of small dents which havn't taken any paint off at all.You can depend upon this guitar, though you should always keep a back-up with you.

The tuner is non locking with a 5 way tap exactly shaped like a Fender Strat Double humbucking pickups which create very chunky sound. 22 fret board the neck makes the guitar look mean like an ESP.

Sound : 9
I was using a Peavy amp (until the bastard thing blew up) which creates very mean and chunky sound it can also be changed to a mellow sound with the flick of a switch this guitar is the one for me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It must be very well set up because ive been playing it for 3 years now and havent had a problem with it well maybe because i change the strings thats all this guitar is in mint condition

I would use this guitar highly in a gig which i have before and it has'nt gone screwy on me and yes if you are wondering the hardware will definately last.

I have had no problems with this guitar to consult anyone with

I have been playing for 3 years and have a lot of training up my sleeve and find this a very excellent guitar if it was stolen i think id wak the bastard over the head then still be able to play it. But the one thing i would like to say is if this would have had a floyd rose bridge this would be a mighty seller any where. If you would like to buy it contact me on my e-mail and we might be able to arrange something

The GRX20 from Ibanez is as basic as u can buy a Stratocastor. double humbuckle HIGH OUTPUT pickups, with a standard tremlo bar with no locking tremlo.....It is a ultra light axe and isnt very flashy looking. Overall with the features its not tha bad of a guitar, i would DEFINITLY reccommmend this guitar for BEGINNERS ONLY!! If u played for more than 2 or 3 years only use this guitar asa bang around.

Sound : 8
The GRX suits my guitar style somewhat. I play Metallica ( da older crap mainly ) Kid Rock, Nirvana, AC/DC, Blink 182, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Creed and Papa Roache's Last Resort. I plug this axe through a Boss ME-30 and straight into a LINE6 Flextone. I usually slam on the strings and use a lot of palm muting to get a rich chunky sound, but i could get this sound from this guitar a lot but not to the full extent as if i was gona use a ESP Ex-250 or something. Its not very noisy it has a GREAT clean sound and a very nice dist. sound. I am very content with the sound i get outa this bitch.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Shit!! Forget it this guitar came outa the store in mint condition, they had plastic on it n it was all tuned up n dey made sure it was good. I played the living crap outa it so i hada replace the HIGH E string (1st). I bought it from SAM ASH and they did a great job and giving me the guitar.....Hey and for a price of only ***$$200*** how could u go wrong??

Reliability/Durability : 5
I dont really think this guitar could stand a lota hell. My other guitar American Showster s/s metal load, DAMM!!!!!! u could throw tha off a building and it wont even chip!!!!!! If the GRX weights 10 lbs tha axe was like 30 lbs, it was real heavy!! Not good for concerts. THE PAINT JOB!!!!! WOW!!!!! THIS BABY SHINES EVEN WEN SHES FILTHY!! Oh ya and this guitar, i carry it around ina hard shell Case sooooooooooooo it doesnt get knockd around.

2 Humbucking pickups, a three way switch, a volume knob and a tone knob. Standard bridge. I replaced the bridge pickup with an EMG 81 (the standard pickups just suck) and added two knobs (2x volume, 2x tone) for the EMg and the standard pickup. I'm replacing the bridge with a shaller 456 bridge, somehow the original bridge has some sharp edges at the place where the strings come through the body to the top and I break my low E and A strings all the time).

Sound : 8
In this setup it suits my style perfectly (metalcore tuned down 1 1/2 step, and old school hardcore). This is mainly because I replaced the pickup. Even though it's a relitivily cheap guitar it plays great, I rather play this guitar than my strat and les paul. Somehow I really like the setup of the neck, it's thin and flat. The neck makes me play the fast metalriffs a lot easier and I don't get to much irritation to my wrist.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Everything about the guitar is great exept the pickups and the frets weren't filed right, I slit up my fingers a few time, so I brought it to my repair man and he did a great job on it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar does keep up with the live playing (exept for my strings breaking due to the bridge, but the problem will be solved soon). For the rest the guitar seems to last my playing (I play really hard and jump around, run and hit the guitar like it is some punchbag). I replaced the standard straps with Dunlop straplocks so I won't drop the guitar when jumping and the strap comes loose. I can really depend on it yes, I would never play without a backup though, I always bring my les paul with me for backup whenever I break some strings or when the battery of the EMG pickup runs out of power.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never had to deal with em yet, I bought the guitar in New York and I live in Holland (Europe) so I can't go back to the store for warrenty issues. But I know a guy who always repairs my stuff for a cheap price and does a really good job at that, I've never had any problems with the stuff he fixed, on any of my guitars.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing bass for about 8 years and guitar for about 5 and until now it the best guitar I've had. The stuff I use:

Bass: Crate bl200x top
Trace & Elliot 4x10 300 watts cabinet
TCS bass with EMG active pickups

Guitar: Marshall JCM 900, 4100
Marshall 1960A 4x122 300 watts cabinet
Ibanez rgx20 with EMG 81 pickup
Epiphone studio Les paul with standard pickups and steinberg bridge and locking system.
Korg DTR1 tuning system (19")
Boss 7 band EQ (will be replaced by a DOD stereo 15 band EQ, 19" rack)

If it would be stolen or lost I'd buy another Ibanez (It's probably the only guitar and bass brand I'd buy from now on, I'm hooked to Ibanez). I'd get a Ibanes S series.

This guitar was made in 1999. I'm not sure where. It has 22 frets, 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob, and a 3-way selector switch. Pickups are H/H powersound 1 and 2. This guitar is jewel blue with a black pickgaurd. It has a normal bridge and comes with a whammy bar. It has a body that is like a cross between a strat and one of the RGs. The tuners are non-locking. I bought this guitar in a starters pack, so it came with a 15 watt Ibanez amp, a cable, a gig bag, and a strap.

Sound : 8
I don't really have a specific style of music, but this guitar can cover plenty. I am currently just using a 15 watt Ibanez amp with a Zoom effect processor. The pickups are not amazing, but for a starting guitar, they are pretty good. There is some noise with the Humbuckers, but it can be controlled with a noise reduction effect. Compared to other guitars I have played, the attack of the pickups seems to have a slight delay. There are ways to model your sound on the guitar itself. The bridge pickup sounds really good with distortion. In my opinion you can play a good variety of music with this.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
When I got the guitar, the body was covered in plastic. There were no flaws on it. Nothing was loose or crooked on it at that time.

Reliability/Durability : 6
This guitar could stand live playing if you are not too active while you play. During one of my rehearsals, I was playing and neck pickup started falling out. The screws and the springs are gone, and now that pickup has just sunken in the body. I have not had it fixed yet, so I just use the bridge pickup. The jack where you plug in your cable has fallen off a few times and sunken in the body, but it was nothing a pair of tweasers and a screwdriver couldn't fix. The finish seems like it would last, and the strap buttons are pretty solid. I would use it without backup once I got it fixed.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for 2 years and my other guitar is an acoustic. I like this guitar for a starter but I plan on getting an Ibanez AX7221 seven-string soon. If you only plan on having this as your guitar, you should replace the pickups. When I was buying it at the store, I compared it to a Squier Strat, and chose this because of the sound. Even though it is a starting guitar, it is still Ibanez, so that is why I trusted it. It is a great guitar for the price.

This particular guitar was made 1999,in Indonesia.22 frets, soliid body It has 1 vol.,1 tone.Pickups are H/H,Powersound 1 and 2.The body is agatis, neck is maple.Black finish,as well as the pickguard. The body is RG/Strat style.Bridge is just a standard one.Non-locking tuners. The fretboard is rosewood with medium sized frets and a skinnier "C" shaped neck.No accessories with mine.

Sound : 5
When this guitar comes to fitting my style of music,{grunge, heavy metal, and other stuff} it does a fairly nice job on doing it.You might wanna be careful with input.I've read a few reviews and they said some things in the input can get messed with and would need re-soldering.I use it with a Marshall MG-15RCD amp,and sounds great through it.One minor note though, you might want to change the humbuckers to Seymour Duncan,EMG,Dimarzio or whatever cause they're not as powerful or distorted as the names mentioned. The neck pickup is the more of the deeper, bass tone. The bridge pickup is the cleaner sounding one, with kind of a hollow sound to it.Buy new humbuckers when you get the chance for this axe.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
We'll say just buy a new bridge, strings, and don't screw with the input. Also,if your a ludicrous detuning freak like me,take the cover off the back, unscrew the 2 screws next to the springs a little bit, and Voila!,you got a lower, even more detuned sound.

Reliability/Durability : 7
this guitar could stand live playing, after you modified it.I can't say I'm stupid enough not to have a backup, witch I would have. The finish is none to durable, but who cares.

Never dealt with Ibanez

Overall Rating : 8
This is a great begginer guitar,it looks cool, and could be bad axe after its modified and tweaked. If it was stolen,I would buy a Fender, or PRS or something. Also, buy some new knobs for it.

Made in 1999, Indonesia, 22 frets, volume, tone, 3 way selector, H/H, Ibanez Powersound pickups, passive electronics, Maple, Strat-body (RG), non-locking tuners. I really have no complaints with this guitar, other than the non-locking tuners and the bridge (like many others, I discarded the bar).

Sound : 9
This suits my style fine. Unlike all of the Metallica-heads who reviewed this guitar (who are wasting their time trying to mimic the one-dimensional genre of metal and should give up guitar-playing NOW), I play a wide variety of things, trying to compose my own music that is non-conventional. This guitar sounds pretty unique and crisp for the price, let-alone compared to more expensive guitars. I use it with an Ibanez Black Noise, Ibanez Super Chorus, Ibanez Digital Delay, Boss Dual Overdrive, Boss Acoustic Simulator, DOD Milk Box, Korg AX1G processor all through an Ibanez Tone Blaster 25W amp. It has a very nice full sound, and the body being cheap wood actually helps more than hinders the acoustics of it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
If you're not a clumsy idiot who's always dropping things or breaking your guitar to be like someone else, I believe any guitar would withstand live playing (ever heard of the word careful? you don't have to be a raged maniac to rock). But yes this guitar in particular would withstand live playing. The hardware does seem like it will last, although I'm a bit scared of the output jack. They never seem to last on the more inexpensive guitars without re-soldering later. You can depend on it, but the strings more than likely will break. Backups are always good no matter what the situation.

Customer Support : 9
The warranty is one year. I've never dealt with Ibanez as far as service, but I believe in their products. Their cheaper stuff (pedals, amps, etc.) still sounds wonderful and better than most expensive stuff.

Overall Rating : 9
Pay no attention to the Metallica/Pantera/punk-wannabe morons (their time will come when they're fat and old and still playing the same three chords and jackoff solos). They obviously don't know what they're talking about and never should have picked up the guitar or any other instrument in the first place. I've been playing for 6 years, I own one other guitar (Kay) that is very unique that I've used for everything under the sun. I switch between that and the Ibanez depending on what sound I'm looking for. I would probably not buy another guitar nor would I play a Jimmy Page Les Paul if it was given to me (well you never know I guess). If it were stolen, I don't know. I don't believe in being rid of something and then replacing it with the exact same thing. Some things are omens.

Action sucked, so i fixed that with somemore springs in the back, and lighter strings. The tremelo is terrible and gets the guitar way outta tune.

TERRIBLE. NEVER*** use this guitar live, unless yer gonna smash it. what happens is when you put the cord in the jack, it rubs a wire inside, and breaks the wire, and then it needs to be sodered. It has 22 frets, rosewood fretboard, non-locking tuners, 3-way selector, 2 humbuckers (which sux), black finish w/ a kinda dark greyish pickguard. Well I would say this guitar is as good as it gets for such a low price. The factory strings were cheap and useless... I would recomend removing them and putting in some D'Addario stings in them....

Sound : 5
Well..Honestly speaking...this isn't suitable for playing heavy metal. I guess the sound quality is in-between styles of music....nothing really sounds good when playing. Obviously the original pickups were weak as hell...but what can i say...its the cheapest guitar Ibanez makes... If u want a fat tone use the neck pickup...thats what i would use if i play w/ this guitar more than i do now... Well, i have decided to remove the cheap factory pickups and put in Dimarzio distortion pickups or seymor duncan pickups....

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Well...i'm not too sure how it came brand new cuz i bought it from my cousin....I guess it was ok when i got it...not much to complain for only $90..

Reliability/Durability : 6
Okay....never play live with this.... I guess it will last unless u decide to smash it after a concert, which i suggest you should if u have extra guitars... i can tell that the fretboard is wearing off already... Well...it would be downright stupid to play a gig w/o backup. I mean..strings could break anytime...u may never know....so do yourself a favor and don't embaress yourself....

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal w/ the company... All i do is blame my cousin for everything.

Overall Rating : 6
This guitar is good for its price...but if u can afford the Ibanez RG series then go for it...pay a little more, get something worth your money... I've been playing for 3 yrs now and i would have to say that this guitar would be better after the pickups are changed. I have a Epiphone Slash Les Paul Classic, BC Rich Warlock, and a Fender Richie Sambora Strat. The only reason i bought this is cuz i wanna collect guitars and it was dirt cheap. And i plan to purchase a Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Strat if anyone's selling...

I don't know what year it was made or where it was made. All I know is I bought it right at the beginning of 1999. There are 22 frets on it. There are volume and tone knobs and a 3-way selector. It is a black finish. The tuners are non-locking, and the neck is pretty small. I don't like the fact that it is only a 3-way selecter, I wish it were a 5-way. The volume and tone knobs are cheap and don't look very nice. The pick guard looks very ugly from being scratched by the pick and it isn't as dark as the rest of the guitar so it makes it look like black and gray, which looks pretty ugly. It came with a really cheap wammy bar, but the guitar doesn't stay in tune anyway so I just took that off. It doesn't really have any special features.

Sound : 6
It doesn't suit my music style at all. I play guitars very hard and I play alot of heavier Nirvana songs and other punk, alternative, and a little bit of metal. It definitely needs locking tuners for me because with the way I play it doesn't stay in tune at all. Some of it is just because these tuners suck! I use a BOSS Xtorsion pedal and a Peavey Rage 158 amp with it. It is noisy when I have the pickups closest to the bridge turned on. The guitar doesn't have a very full sound, but it does sound pretty good for a cheap guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Everything seems to be fine except that the neck could probably be adjusted just a little different.

Reliability/Durability : 5
I doubt that this guitar would last too long with live playing. I would play very hard on it if I was ever playing in public. I have had one problem with the guitar so far; the eplace where you plug your cable in came loose and the nut fell off and the plug-in fell inside the guitar.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't had to have my guitar fixed yet but I know that the people at the music shop would get the job done and they are all very nice.

This 22 fret guitar is a cool one. It was a rosewood fingerboard and a clear pickguard. It has a volume and tone switch on it and you can set up the pickups in three ways. The features on this guitar are great for the price.

Sound : 8
It sounds great. The pickups could be better, but that's life. I play it on a Fender Deluxe 112 plus, see my review. This guitar gives great distortion and has a rich sound. The guitar can make any kind of sound from country to Metallica. It can do it all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was set up by Ibanez ok. The first think I did was replace the strings with some Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings. The felt like cheap factory strings. The, I had to adjust the pickups to fit my taste. All in all, this guitar is great.

dual humbucker, 3 way switch for the pickups, tone and volume controls.. what more do you need? a coffee machine?
the neck is a rosewood fingerboard on a very thin and fast maple neck came with some allen keys and a lead...

Sound : 9
this is a great guitar for begginers. its cheaps, and the sounds you can get with it are amazing... the other reviews have all said that this is a pretty crap guitar (almost all of them), id have to disagree... i mean this guitar costs less than quite a few effects pedals.
i play everthing from blues, to rock, to alternative, to metal and punk and this guitar hits them all pretty well. the humbuckers provide a nice powerful sound (although the bridge sounds a little hollow), and when theyre split (as i usualy have mine) not only do they produce vistually no hum, but also sound a little more powerful then just single coils...
ok i wont disguse the fact that this guitar is made of a cheap wood, but hey what do you expect? this wood actually seems to be a blessing in disguise. see, the wood is very hollow and seems to resonate alot. this means that you can get a nice soft mellow tone with the right amp... even our drummer was commenting on the nice acoustics of this guitar when played unplugged (and you know drummers, all that pounding...drummer recognising a nice tone... i don think so)
i play this guitar through a danelectro cool cat and a boss metal zone into a fender frontman 25r
the sounds are just great
for the price, you cant beat it

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
the action was set up pretty shockingly from the factory, but it was easily fixed, all else seemed pretty good for a guitar at this price

Reliability/Durability : 9
this guitar is built pretty solidly if i was at a gig i would only worry about the strings breaking. or bring another guitar for a different sound.. like a semi acoustic or something

Customer Support : 9
very helpful and the guys at my local music shop are pretty helpful.. theyll fix anything

Overall Rating : 9
this is a very nice guitar for a begginer... sure its no paul reed smith, but hey, for the price, id buy it again... even just to use a a backup or to take everywhere with me... team this up with a smokey ciggarette box amp, and you have a cheap setup to take everywhere

Made in Indonesia. 22 frets. Volume, tone, controls, 3 way selector. Has dual humbucking pickups. The neck is probably made of rosewood It has a non-locking bridge w/ a tremelo bar.

Sound : 6
It has a pretty good sound when playing rock and some metal/alternative styles. It sounds good on my fender frontman 15 when played w/ distortion, it has a clear sharp sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The pickups were not adjustted properly on my guitar. Not really a lot of flaws. the guitar has a nice body good shape. i haven't really tested out the wood quality of the guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 7
The fretboard wears off easily, so you have to really take care of it. You could also tell after playing a while. I did drop it once and it seems that nothing happened to it, still working fine. I would use it on a gig without backup if the pickups were changed to better ones.

After playing w/ this guitar for 2 yrs, it still seems pretty reliable. Nothing major has happened to it so far. If it was stolen or lost, i would probably buy another one because i am not a beginner anymore. I have 2 other guitars, a Malmsteen Fender and a Washburn Dime333.
