this guitar was great if you play punk, metal, rock couse it has a heavy sound!!!
i use park amp and tone works ax100g, mashall jackhammer1.
yes, its to much noisy for stage guitar...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
the set up wasn't so bad for practice guitar! hehe...

Reliability/Durability : 7
i don't thing this guitar was that good to play on stage...
i play this guitar only at my room!!!

much better than squier strat!!!

Features : 6
i paid 150 dollars for it since the guy was so convinced on getting me to buy it over a squier bullet and it was worth it when this is a 200$ dollar guitar
Made in China,2008
22 Frets
5-way selector switch,volume, tone,
2 Neck and midlle single-coil pickups, 1 humbucker
Strat-non-inlay amp input-ibanez headstock
thin neck makes it easy to play
i really just picked this guitar off a wall and just came with a tremolo bar, don't be fooled though by the ibanez ijx40 which comes in a value pack because that's a whole different thing

Sound : 8
I play classic rock styles and is perfect for the songs i play
I use a basic marshall 10 watt and i guess it would sound a bit better if i had a better amp, but sounds still pretty good
Neck pickup is very warm and deep, mid pickup is kind of twangy, and the bridge humbucker has a lot of bite(overall not a big conductor of gain)
this guuitar is good for low-gain sounds, so if you play metal, grunge, hard rock, or a lot of rythm guitar you should stay away
I like this guitar because it fits my indie, classic rock sounds but it's missing my powerful.... power chords which i use sometimes, but it's perfect for the other sounds

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
AS far as i can tell it was in need of a bit of a set up, but it was several months between when the guitar was made and when i got i plus i had been messing around a lot with the tremolo bar
No flaws whatsoever

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar is a very beginner guitar and i would not play live with it unless it was maybe a small gathering like in a school where noone could tell the difference of the sound
This is not a top rate guitar but it would last enough years as me being a beginner and still be good to sell used
Finish is reliable, and if not at least you have a sexy relicced guitar, straps seem good and sturdy, and i expect it to last pretty good for me, but again it is a budget guitar

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing about a year and it is pretty good for one's infancy in playing
if stolen i would upgrade, but would be pissed because i would need the money selling this as a used guitar for about 150(i paid 150 as far everyone else thinks it about a 200$ guitar)
I really love the nice thin neck it really gives ease to playing, the mid pickup and bridge humbucker are great, and it really fits my style
I guess compared to the lower-level squier strats its pretty good, but if ur looking at this guitar you should go to a guitar store and try out both the squiers and the ibanez to see which feels and sounds better
If they had just put a humbucker in the neck it would definitely be extremely versatile and a lot better for beginners looking for a strat, it would dominate squier bullets and squier fat stratocasters

Features : 8
Features have been covered by previous reviews so I won't repeat them. It has everything I need, though.

Sound : 7
I play mostly classic rock and blues numbers and this guitar will do that just fine for a beginner. The single pickups are weak and tinny sounding, but if you pump it through any kind of effects pedal, you can improve the sound dramatically. The humbucker is decent but doesn't have the full range that I would have preferred and had expected. For a beginner guitar though, it is overall a decent sounding axe.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I love the neck on this guitar. Although the action was too high when I purchased it, after a quick adjustment it was fine. The pickups too were not setup properly and had to be adjusted. It took a while (as a beginner) to realize all this, but made all the difference in the world in terms of playability. Now it plays very well and gives better sound than from the factory.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've had the GRX40 for about 4 years and it is holding up very well with no scuffs or marks in the finish. Initially, it would go out of tune easily, but with quality strings installed it seems to be less of a problem - not perfect, but better. It is certainly reliable enough for live playing in my opinion. I've never had any issues with any of the hardware or other components of this guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with support on this, so no opinion.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for 5 years and own a cheap Yamaha acoustic as well (that one will be replaced well before the Ibanez). For the electric, I use an old Traynor YVM-3 amp live and a Fender Frontman for practice. Pedals include a Tube Screamer, Vox Wah and Zoom multi-effects. When I purchased this guitar, I liked the feel of the neck. That's really what sold me on this one over others in the same price range. I wish it had better pickups (like SD Cool Rails and Pearly Gates perhaps), and I plan on upgrading it eventually with something. If it was lost or stolen I wouldn't buy it again, but I would rather get something similar with better pickups and without the trem since I rarely use it.

I have no Idea where this guitar is made, nor do I care.
-22 Frets
-S/S/H(now my favourite pickup setup by far)
-Ibanez made passive pickups(that sound surprisingingly good for a cheap guitar)
-black, white pickguard
-Traditional crap-o-matic tremolo
-standard tuners
-bought it used for $125

Sound : 8
I play a lot of metal, but after I scalloped this guitar, it played like a dream. I play through a Digitech RP80 multiFX pedal and a DOD G112 Amp, it sounds great
-The sound is kind of bright, I like it that way for the neck and middle pickups, but the bridge pickup could be a little warmer
-This guitar is good for all kinds of sounds, no doubt, anything you want

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
-Action was perfect
-I adjusted the pickups myself, so I wouldn't know
-The worst part was how the guitar always went out of tune when you use the tremolo, I plan to upgrade to someting better, but for now, im stuck with tuning it right after I use the Bridge, this problem is bad especially for the b and g strings

Reliability/Durability : 10
Awesome, no doubt

The specs are the same as ever1 elses but it was made in china.
I gave this a nine cause it has all the features a beginner guitar like this needs, the 5 way selector is great the tone and volume knobs are nothin special but do the job. The neck of this guitar is not that great i mean i have a good a acoustic that has a faster neck or maybe it just seems faster to me. The bridge this guitar has is definatly very good it feels and plays very well. the h/s/s pickup set up isn't that great but the humbucker can deliver on the riffs.

Sound : 7
I play metal, grunge, all kinds of rock and sometimes some soft music, this guitar is great for all kinds of music as long as u don't expect too much, it is a begginner guitar and one of the best in that area but it'll never match a $1000 ESP or Ibanez for that matter. The tone is however pretty high quality and the sustain is so-so.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is pretty good, the guitar fells very good and the finish on my one waz top class.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar may not sound as good as your high end fender but it might just outlast it. This thing is built like a rock

I never tried to contact them and don't plan on either pls read sum other review to find out about customer support.

I have been playing guitars for the past 3 years. I guess i am just an intermediate guitarist but thats why i have this guitar, some of the people in the other reviews act like they are experts who have been playin forever but thats not true! I have all the gear u get with the guitar, i play the Ibz through a Zoom 505II into the gt10 amp. the tone i get is great, the guitar sounds great with both dist and clean, and u don't need worry about it gettin stolen. If u are a beiggner short of cash u should definatly get this guitar because this guitar has more value for money than anythin u are likely to find!!! If u wanna know more pls feel free to e-mail me..

Made in 2004, this is my first guitar. It is a strat with S/S/H picups, a volume and tone dial, non locking tuners, thin maple neck, black body, and it came in a kit with a gig bag, strap, cable, whammy bar, picks, tunner, and a GTA10 amp (terrible). I would like some locking tuners, but the tuners that came on the guitar aren't all that bad. It is a great guitar for beginners, or for a $190 CDN guitar.

Sound : 8
It is quite good for my style (Heavy rock by AC/DC, Black Sabbath), it sounds nice with my Peavy Backstage amp (excellent) on full distort. It is not a loud guitar. It is a little on the bright side.
You can get different sounds with the different pickups. I use the humbucker most of the time.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was set up well, but I lowered the bridge a bit to make it easier to play. The pickup selector wasn't bad, but the tuning pots have little range. It had 2 small finishing flaws, but were on the back of the guitar headstok.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar hasn't broke on me yet, but my cable jack is getting loose. Just recently my top E string broke, but i was messin with the tuning and i think i over tightened it. doh.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with em' for the guitar, dealt with them a lot for the amp that came in the starter pack (see GT10 amp reviews).

Overall Rating : 9
This is a great starting guitar, but most raters are 5-year guitarists expecting it to compare to their $1000 Gibson guitars. I might get a new one if i start gigin, but i will keep this one for practicing.

Serial number RX 40 I 6092845

Was sold to me off ebay as a GRX40 for $200...in mint condition...but on the neck it says RX40...and the reviews sound the same for both guitars...so...to me...there's some mystery as to what I trully have a GRX40 or an RX40

It has a black strat like body with a white pick guard...5 way switch and a volue and a tone...the GRX40 is pointier in the horns and lighter than a Strat...the access to the neck all the way to the 22nd fret is better than that on a Strat...HSS pickup configuration

I bought mine and the previous owner had already upgraded the pickups to: a Seymour Duncan Invader in the Bridge and two Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the neck and middle position

I upgraded the Tremolo...the tuners...the nut and had the DiMarzio Strap Lock system installed

The stock tremolo is an exact replica of the crap trems that come stock on strats...and NEVER stay in tune when u use them...u know the one...the 40 year old crapper...anyhow...I upgraded this to a Wilkinson...changed the nut to a Wilkinson roller bearing nut...and switched the crap tuners to Sperzels

Now...I can use the trem in ridiculous ways for hrs on end...and the guitar doesn't go out of tune!!! I mean it...this guitar stays in tune extremely well now...Oh...I was going to upgrade the string trees to Fender string trees...but it turns out...with this neck...and the aforementioned hardware...it plays much better WITHOUT string trees...less friction and such

Actually I had Philadelphia's premier luthier Ron Ruggiero do all the work I've just mentioned

Anyhow...what I have now...is better than a Strat Deluxe or a Strat Plus...which were two guitars...whose hardware...greatly influenced my decision making when I added parts onto this beauty

I like the fact that there's a humbucker in the bridge...I never thought single coil Strats had enough balls in the tail...with the Seymour Duncan Invader...we are talking some serious power!!! This guitar can get as loud and mean as anything...I highly recommend the Invader!!!

Sound : 10
Played acoustically...this is a great guitar...I realized its potential instantly...when I first played it...I hated the hardware though...think of the hardware...as beginner electric guitar hardware...that's been put on Strats since the late 50s...the trem is tin like...the tuners...tin like and total crap as well...IMO...but sufficient...so...again...acoustically this is a great well put together guitar...that is trully amazing for the price...and if ur willing to upgrade the beginner hardware...you will have a professional instrument...that plays better than a Strat Plus! I trully love the sound of this guitar with the pickups I put into it...and I would recommend to anyone and everyone to put the same pickups in their GRX40s: Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge with two Seymour Duncans in the neck and middle positions...however...I play a great deal...without plugging in...and acoustically...this guitar is first rate!

I also had a coil splitter installed...which is fun...but hardly necessary

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar played great the moment I had it...not sure how it came from the factory...but it was great when I got it...this guitar plays and sounds EXACTLY like a Strat...I've had two Strats...so I'm basing this opinion on experience...I like the paint job and the neck on this guitar...its just a straight up well made guitar...nothing overwhelming...in terms of inlays and frills...but totally rock solid and kick ass...I enjoy just looking at this guitar...its sleeker and thinner than a Strat or an Ibanez RG...and I dare say...better looking and more elegant than both...I should add...that I like the body on this Ibanez much more than the Yamaha Pacifica as well

Reliability/Durability : 10
Like a Strat...she is a durable guitar...rock solid...bolt on neck...when I first got her...she was almost anorexically light...however...when I added the Sperzel tuners and Wilkinson tremolo...along with the Wilkinson roller bearing nut...she gained weight and is now a healthy light weight guitar...very shoulder friendly...and a great player to boot

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know...never really dealt with them...I do love their products though!!! I have a Custom S-Series, a 1977 Arist, an RG560, and this GRX40...the necks on Ibanez's are always fantastic...in a way that improves a players skill level...Ibanez makes great instruments...don't think for a moment that the GRX can just be dismissed as a 'beginner' instrument...if you are willing to throw in a little money...over a period of time...you can turn this guitar into any Strats equal...I can't get over how well this guitar plays and sounds! NOt to mention looks

Overall Rating : 10
My advice on this guitar...is get it and start playing it...while slowly acruing components for its overhaul in the near future...get a Wilkinson Tremolo off Ebay [$50]...then Sperzel precision tuners [$50] and a Wilkinson roller nut [$10]...then...get a Seymour Duncan Invader for the bridge [$70] and two Seymour Duncan Hot Rails for the neck and bridge [about $50 each]...then take the whole mess over to a luthier and have him put it all together which will cost u another $300...but when ur done...u will have a first rate guitar that plays exactly like a Strat [a little better I think] and sounds just as Throaty as a Strat [A lot better I think]...boom...there's my little prescription for how to take a 'beginner' guitar...and turn it into a first rate guitar...no need to replace this baby...just slowly overhaul it!

-Guitar was made in China (like most now-a-days)
-22 frets....wish it had 24
-solid top (black finish)
-volume, tone, and 5 way selecter controls
- S/S/H pickup configuration
-Ibanez pickups
-Neck is Rosewood
-Has a strat-like body style
-Bought it with gig bag, tuner, strap, cable, picks, and other stuff

Sound : 9
I pretty much enjoy playing everything, and the 5 way selector really helps with that.
Im using just a little Ibanez amp with the guitar and it sounds pretty good. (Theres not too much unwanted noises.)
The guitar does have a nice full sound for being a beginner guitar in this price range.

For a beginner guitar I give a 9 for sound

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The guitar sounded pretty good when I first bought it. (It sounds better once you break it in a bit.
What I didnt like about the finish job of my guitar was that there was a crappy finish job on the fret board if you look really good. Some areas were globby and some parts has a faint finish. On the guitar body there was parts where I could see a pink or reddish colour that was underneath..kind freaked me out.
The first guitar I was gonna buy (grx40) had a big crack on the neck...luckily I picked this one.
Other than that, everything was ok.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I dont think this guitar would be a wise choice for a live perfomance or gig. (I wouldnt use it without a backup)
Ive bumped up my guitar quite a bit, but its pretty strong and still looks good.
It doesnt stayed tuned very well, and also isnt very smooth with tuning.
Otherwise, the guitar is alright.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have a 6 month warranty, but havent dealt with the company before.

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing guitar for about 4 years now, and I got this guitar anout 6 months ago. I own two acoustic guitars, and this guitar. I plan on upgrading to a Ibanez AR200 or AR300 soon. If my guitar was ever lost or stolen, I dont think I would buy it again, just because its only really a beginner. (Id be pissed off though!)
I love this guitar mostly cause its like my first kinda thing. I only hate that its not a guitar that I could use all the time (in like live performances, etc...even though Ive never played live)
I think my favorite feature is the 5 way selecter control.
I would like to say that Ive played a Fender Strat before, and this is better by far.
The only thing I wish the ibanez has was a different head. Instead of all six tune pieces on the left if it had three on both sides.
This guitar rocks as a beginner guitar, and Ibanezs are the best!!!!

Made in China.
Has passive electronics.
Has a s/s/h pick-up config.
It has all all the features that I need except locking tuners.
The harware's all Ibanez, good and durable. I like the tuners.
Pick-up switch is good, easy switching.
I like the wood.
The pick-guard's a plus.
Great neck, I like the feel. The only drawback is the neck-joint and 22 frets, I find it hard to play the higher frets.
Ill give this an 8 because the absence of the lock and the inconvenient neck joint.

Sound : 10
I play hard rock and metal.
Good sound for a guitar this price range.
The humbucker rocks, rich full sound. Single coil has a bright sound.
The pick-ups are cool, there is no decreased volume whenever you switch from humbucker to single coil.
No noise at all.
Used with various amps (Marshall, Peavey, Randall). Sounds good at these amps but I like the Marshall best.
Dont expect it to sound like a Les Paul or a PRS. Higher-end guitars sound much better.
For the sound at this price range I give it a 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It was set-up properly and pretty well. No need for adjustments.
Flawless.
10 for the price range.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It never disappointed me.
Built like a tank.
Good finish.
For the price range, another 10.

Never dealt with the company.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this guitar. It's my first guitar. :). I'm beginning to like 7 strings and ill buy one if I have the money. I have played electrics for a year but I have compared the sound of this guitar to other guitars that I've played: the N4 signiture model, a Fender squire, a Wahburn x-21, an RG7321, a Yamaha Pacifica, and a Godin guitar.
The N4 really rocks, Godin has a bright sound, x-21 sounds same as the GRX 40, RG7321 has a cool low-end sound, great humbuckers you have there, GRX 40 is better than the Yamaha Pacifica and Fender Squire in value.
I like the feel of the neck.
I wish it had 24 medium or jumbo frets.
For the price range this is one of the best, great value!!!!!
I would recommend this guitar for beginners and pros alike.

Made in indonesia. Fuc*ing bad fat-10 tremolobridge, s-s-h, 5-way switch, rosewood fingerboard, maple neck, basswood body, green finish.

Bridge is too bad. I blocked it.

Pretty good for shredding. I play mostly metal, and this shit is made for it.

Pretty muddy, I changed mics to v2 and s1:s pretty soon I got this axe. Rosewood neck with bridge humbucker gives nice solosounds, fits very well all kind of metalstuff i play.

As i wrote earlier, bridge and mics suck. otherwise it kinda good.

I don't know when it was made but it was made in China. It has 22 frets with 5 way selector S S H config. Black. Chep ass tuners and crappy bridge. For the price it's perfect for someone that is a complete begginer that learns fast and can afford to get rid of it after a year or so of playing.

Sound : 8
I play metal and I am doing a lot of arpeggios. This guitar got me to a start since it did have quite a good sound. Suprisingly you could ultra mellow the sound or super brighten it. Very good sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
At first I didn't know squat about electric guitars (I was 13 or so) but recently since I'm constantly playing know I know quite a bit so I learned that the original action is crap. But amazingly I had managed to set the thrust rod quite tightened and managed to lower the strings a lot to the way i prefer without it buzzing (exept in the 3rd and 2nd string which buzzes a bit).

Reliability/Durability : 6
No live playing with this guitar. But I havent thrown it away and the hardware is still good. This would be like a 6th backup.

Strat-style guitar made in Indonesia, unsure of the date or the year. It has 21 frets i think, and it has a 5 selector switch, one volume, one tone control, and a s/s/h pickup configuration. Cheap chrome-plated tuners, maple neck with a skunk stripe; capped rosewood fretboard.

At least that's all I analyzed for features when I was playing it.

Disclaimer:

Let me get across that I don't own this; nor do I plan on buying one. I played with this guitar alone for about a half an hour, making sure I checked everything out to do a review.

Sound : 7
I played this at a friends house through a Peavey Rage 158 combo. I used both distorted and clean channels.

The S/S/H combination is a real versatile combination; but if the pickups are like these and aren't built well, you might as well throw that "versatility" option out the window.

The single coil pickups are pretty dull, both with distortion and clean. They don't seem to have much life, they're low output coils and they're kind of plain-jane.

The humbucker has a solid jangly crunch when you flip on the distortion, and it loves to squeal and produce natural harmonics. All you have to do is lightly touch the string with your other finger (the one that's not fretting) and pick the strings and solo away. This is one option that I do like on this guitar; I've always wanted to aquire natural harmonics, but my Strat doesn't like to do that.

On the clean channel, the humbucker has that icepick-in-your-ear sound, and it literally HURTS when you play on that pickup setting. It's really bright and piercing. On distortion, that nuance is defined a bit, because of the harmonic overtones in the distortion.

This is a GREAT thrash guitar...something you could throw at your amp when you're finished for the day, or perhaps something that you could just swing around the room and not even care. However, the overall sound is kind of plain, and doesn't have much colorful character.

I imagine this would sound superb to a 12 year old who has only been playing for 2 months, but I really can't imagine anybody else applauding this instrument for its character in the sound department.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The neck and the fretboard feels terrible. The high frets (around 15-20) are extremely hard to fret a note on, and the overall feel is just plain and yucky. Not smooth at all. However, I will give it credit -- it feels a lot better than those poor-excuse-for-a-guitar (models 2003 and up) Gibson SG Juniors. Ugh!

The tuners were pretty stiff but not in a good way, it made a creaking noise every now and again when I turned them to tune the guitar. The whole guitar was dusty and one string was broke. Needless to say I took care of that broken string for him and took it off the guitar. Threw it in the wastebasket. Whew, now I can play...sort of.

A few years back when I first started playing, I played this exact same guitar of his. When I went to put it back, I was sitting on the bed and I was holding it about two feet above the floor. The neck slipped through my hand (i was still holding on to the guitar, btw)and it landed itself on the bottom of the guitar. No damage was done to the finish, but the input jack was ruined. It wouldn't work. I guess he went and took it in or fixed the problem himself since then.

I would be horrified to take this guitar to a gig.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Like I said above, the action, fit, finish, and reliability isn't real trustworthy. I don't think I could trust it any farther than I could throw it. It's a good beater guitar for at home playing though.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for just about two years now and I have been BLESSED with:

Three guitars (Fender Stratocaster, Taylor Big Baby, Yamaha FG412-S)
One Amp (Behringer GM110)
Effects Pedals galore (Boss SD-1, Boss CE-5, EHX Small Stone, MXR Phase 90 [w/script mod], DOD Classic Fuzz, Arion MDS-1, Arion HU-30, Ibanez DE-7)
and a bunch of other stuff.

When I picked up this axe and a few others at the house, I stopped and I thought about all that I had been Blessed with. I mean, wow...my guitars kicked all of these way out of the park. These axes are pretty sweet, but man I just feel at home with my instruments.

As I said earlier, this guitar is mainly a knock-around guitar, something you don't ever take out, but you use it around the house with that dusty old amp that always crackles when you turn it on and adjust the pots. Who cares if you're rawking out on the roof and you fall off, damaging the guitar right on the pavement? As long as you're okay, right?

I wouldn't recommend this as a main guitar to most people, but those who can tolerate this instrument as their main guy, hey, more power to you. I'm just saying that I wouldn't really trust gigging out with this to any place serious.

As a budget axe at a budget price, this really isn't TOO bad of a guitar. Your basic cheap, indonesian craftwork at hand.

One tip though -- if you're looking to buy a strat, buy a STRAT. Don't buy a knock-off, thinking that you'll achieve the same sound on your favorite Stevie Ray Vaughn records. It doesn't work that way.

Save your pennies if you're looking for a real instrument, but if a knock-around, beginner guitar/thrash master is your bag, then by all means, this is your dream ride.

God Bless

It has all the stuff a beginner or really crappy player needs. h-s-s pickup config for any type of music. come with a very cheap and unuseable tremolo. all the trem is good for is loosing the correct tuning.

Sound : 3
For the first 6 months it didn't sound all that bad. Then again i wasn't that good of a player. But, after 4 years this thing sounds and plays like ass.
Never ever holds tune.

I later installed a Seymour Duncan Full Shred SH-10 humbucker in the bridge. Sounded much better than the $5 humbucker put couldn't save the guitar from its dingy sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Anyone whose ever replaced a pickup in one of these bastards can tell how poorly they are made. Action was horrible. I mean it costs like 99 bucks so what can you expect. Pretty good neck, compared to fenders and squires. The neck is the only thing i liked on this guitar.

This guitar would be great to sacrifice to the gods on stage with a can of lighter fluid.

Reliability/Durability : 5
I'll have to say, after all the hell this things been through it is absolutely amazing its still in one piece. After beeing used as an ashtray the finish still looks OK. The tuners are HORRIBLE; this is why the P.O.S. won't hold tune.

In a 99 dollar guitar, don't expect the hardware to last over 6 months. (hum... ...maybe that's the reason for a 30 day limited warranty...)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Word of advice, if something breaks it is undoubtably going to be cheaper to buy another 99 dollar guitar than fix it!

Overall Rating : 3
I've been playing for 9 years. I got this thing for Christmas my 8 grade
year in school. It was probobly the BEST beginner guitar i could have gotten. It was much better and much easier to play than comparable Fenders and Squires.

My advice, this in an exellent guitar for a beginner or someone who really doen't know what a good guitar sounds like. But, like all $99 guitars, its easy to outgrow.

For a seasond veteran of guitars this thing is a 2.
For a beginner its a 9 or 10.

I think mine is a 2003 model.
22 frets.
Solid-Top.
1 volume control. 1 tone control. 5-way pickup selector.
Bridge humbucker. Single coil in middle. Single coil at neck. (H-S-S)
Ibanez Powersound pickups.
Passive electronics.
Alder body. GRX neck.
Finish is metallic blue.
Strat body style.
Thru-body bridge.
Non-Locking tuners.
Thin neck. (very comfortable)
Came with gig bag, strap, cable, and tools.

Sound : 6
My music style tends to be rock, death metal, and even a little jazz. When I bought the guitar, also bought a 30-watt Marshall amp which was definitely a good decision for a guitar with mediocre tone. The pickup isolation sucks; whenever anyone even turns on a light, the pickups would generate a terrible buzzing sound every time I would take my hands off of the strings. It has a lot of hum on the single-coil pickups. However, I was able to remedy the hum from the single-coil pickups by modifying the settings on my amp. The clean sound is a little pearcing on the humbucker setting but it is great on any of the single-coil settings. The distortion sucks on the single-coil pickups but it is pretty nice on the humbucker setting. However, the distortion on the humbucker setting does lack crunch. Overall, the sound is pretty good (especially on the clean channels) but I wish the pickups were better isolated so I wouldn't have to deal with the electrical buzz.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
The original setup sucked. The saddle holding the humbucker was damaged thus causing the right side of the humbucker to sink into the guitar. This required some repairs. One of the worst problems was that the grounding wire inside the guitar kept coming disconnected and had to be weilded into place so it wouldn't keep coming off. The action is a little high but it isn't that bad. The frets are a little 2 flat; in some instances I just about have to grind my fingers into the fingerboard to get notes and chords to ring true thus making it difficult to play quickly. U can forget about using the whammy bar; the guitar doesn't have a locking-tremolo so everytime I used it, my guitar would go horribly out of tune. You can't downtune this guitar with the bridge it has either without paying another $50 to have the bridge modified. The bottom line is that the bridge sucked and I had to have a lot of modifications done on the guitar to make work right.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is built 2 last. The strap buttons are great and the finish doesn't come off hardly at all. This is defifitely a guitar that can last 4 a very long time.

From what you may have just read, you would think I am saying 2 stay away from this guitar. However, I am not. This guitar is pretty good for someone who is just starting 2 learn 2 play. My only three real complaints about this instrument are that the pickups are not iscolated thus creating an awful buzz even on the humbucker setting when anything electrical in the house is turned on. It doesn't have the right kind of bridge. And that the original setup sucked. I tend to have a perfectionistic attitude however. I do ask, though, that U educate your decision before you get this guitar (or any guitar) and make sure it is an instrument that can fit all of your needs for at least a year without you having 2 do a bunch of modifications the guitar.

This little guy was mass produced in good ol' China. It has 22 frets and is solid-top. It has a single volume and tone knob as well as a five-way pickup switch. The Pickup configuration is S/S/H, and the pickups are Ibanez made. The electronics are passive. The bolt-on neck made of maple, while the body is made out of Alder. My model has a nice dark blue (sparkling) finish. The body is a strat-like shape. It has a standard PSND2 (H) Bridge. The tuners are alright but could be a little more sensitive. It has a Rosewood fingerboard and a very thin neck for guitars in this price range. It ususally comes with a gig bag.

Sound : 8
My musical style is pretty varied, but i would have to say i mostly play metal and thrash. I get better metal tones with this baby then my friend does with his high-end RG. I currently use it mostly with my Marshall MG15DFX amp, a Boss Metal Master MT-2, a Ibanez Tubescreamer TS-5 Soundtank, and a Boss DD-3 Digital delay. Surprisingly the cheap pickups on this guitar never make any noise. Even the single coils are almost noiseless. Its weird. For such a cheap guitar, they shouldnt be this good. With the right effects this guitar sounds great when distorted. The neck pickup works well when clean, however, the it's bridge counterpart sounds very thin. The sustain could be a little better, but hey, you can always get a compressor/sustainer pedal. This guitar is mostly good for metal and hard rock, as well as rock n roll blues and a white striped sort of sound. The only thing i dislike is that the neck isn't as thin as an Rg's. (RG is another Ibanez model) I'm going to install a EMG 81 pickup at the bridge pretty soon...and this thing is gonna sound like the shit (means very good). the tone will be so unique, cuz nobody uses EMG's with low-end guitars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
Okay, when i baught this i did not know anything about action, neck warping...blah blah blah..guitar setup. The setup that it came in was totally crap. I had to tweak around with this thing a lot until i got the setup right... and i mean a lot. However it was worth it. It now has the lowest action of any guitar i have ever played, regardless of price (all but a $3000 prs i once played). And it still does not buzz at all unless put in a really low tuning like drop C. I had to change the height of the pickups many times too until i found a sweet spot that gave me a warm crunchy tone. When i got it the guitar contained no visible flaws on the coat. But, I made some...i dont really care tho...just adds to its history and personality. This thing also never goes out of tune unless u use the trem, which i never use...so i dont really care. I'm not gonna give this a one because u can get it right after a while...it's not like its unchangable.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have played with it live and i had no problems with it. U must be thinking...Why the %^$& would this guy play with this low end guitar live. Simple cuz i love the sound it makes.....maybe its a fetish. I have droped it many times. MANY. It still works perfect. This finish is not of the best quality, so you might wana polish it regularly to keep it intact. I have never really had problems with the strap buttons, however the imput jack is another story. The damn screw kept coming loose. My solution was to screw it in so hard that i would never be able to unscrew it again..it worked, and now i have no problems any more. I can depend on this guitar...those Chinese really did a good job making this thing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to call em up.

I have been playing for two years, but with how much I practice I can prob rank at 5 or 6. I also own a Fender Mexican Strat, and a B.C. Rich Mockingbrd. This little Ibanez is my favorite. I dont know why. I know the other ones should be, but thats just my oppinion. I just love the great tone you get out of this thing. It rivals my B.C. Rich. Seriously. I Just feel like a uncovered a treasure because i feel guilty in buying such a cheap guitar that sounds do good. Like i said, one i get the EMG's on this thing, and an RG neck...i will be in heaven. mmmmmmmmm. Overal this is a must for anyone who wants a cheap guitar that sounds unique. Good for people of all skill levels.

2002 model made in China
22/frets,Medium S/S/H
Ibanez Stock Pickups
Passive Electronics
Maple Neck, Rosewood Finger board
Black finish looks great when you use GHS Guitar Gloss
Strat Body, Alder material
Floating FAT-10 bridge with intonation bridge sliders and complete bridge movement for setting action, not each string at a time.
Tuners ar non-locking stock Ibanez it stays in tune fine using my old but good peterson 420 strobe tuner, (note if the string is sharp tune it up not down, this is best for keeping the tuners in tune, so if it's flat tune it sharp and work it back up, this with keep the correct tension on the strings.

Sound : 8
All music styles are fine with this guitar because of the pickup configuration.
I use a roland cube 30 with built in effects
Likes, I love the black finish, and the slighty finished maple GRX neck.

Dislikes, I use a right angle plug because the output jack is on the bottem of the gear would rather have it like a stat on the top of the guitar but the right angle plug is a simple fix.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Perfet action, just right, I don't know if the shop I bought it from or the factory set it up but the action and intonation and trust rod adjustments are great, frets out like a high dollar guitar.

We are talking about a guitar thats under $200 for that you get alot for your money. I would not use the 10 watt amp and cheap (thin) cable that comes with the JUMPSTART KIT because of how much single you loose. I paid more for my amp than the guitar but it is worth it the amp has all the effects built in and is great, the guitar sounds great at all settings but I prefer the middle setting on the 5-way switch

Reliability/Durability : 8
Yes it would
Harware is tight and looks great.
With proper care (polishing) the finish should last longer than the strings 100 times over. But like any thing else if you take care of it it will take care of you. Don't compare this to a $1000 or more dollar guitar except for the action! I have played with a MEX strat and I prefer the Ibanez to the strat, or maybe the strat was not setup really well.

I have never dealt with Ibanez in the past but do know there website is great and easy to use www.ibanez.com
My father has played Ibanez in the past and said he loves the fret action of this GRX40BK compared to the many other guitars he has played, As good or better than some of the top names.

This thing is pretty packed with features I think. Two single coils, one humbucker in bridge, so you can get a WIDE range of sounds. Crappy tuners. Vintage tremolo. 22 frets in all, but the neck bolts on right after the 16th. Nice smooth very fast neck, which is nice. 1 volume, 1 tone, 5 way switch. Like I said this thing has just about everything that you could slap on it.

Sound : 5
The sound is OK. It's not gonna win any awards or anything. It's good only for a beginner. I like just about everything from metal to smooth picking. I've even played a few blues licks. It suits all this pretty good, if you are a BEGINNER. Good crunch, even on death metal type crap. OK clean tone, not great. Clear, yet it doesn't sparkle like some other Strats. Humbucker is really bright, coils are pretty bland and tasteless.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
I bought it used, so I don't know how the factory had it. The humbucker is slapped in there really sloppy, looks like @#$%! The action is ok. You can play pretty easily. I would just take it and have it set up if I really cared, but I'm gonna get a new guitar real soon, so why bother? the guitar gets dings really easy and I take real good care of her. The plug thing always comes loose, but that's happens no matter what guitar you get. Just put some thread-lock crap on it.

Reliability/Durability : 5
Yes strap buttons are solid and that's a BIG deal. I've never had them come loose and I've played it A LOT over the course of 1.5 years. Like I said, finish doesn't last. I would gig with this beginners guitar, lol. What kinda question is that!? They would laugh me off the stage, lol. Mainly cuz it sounds like crap compared to what, say, a Samick strat copy sounds like.

PEOPLE, BUY A SAMICK MB 1 (THEIR STRAT COPY). It is sooo much better in sound and everything! It sounds awesome! I just played in today. LOOK INTO IT!!!!! This is a good beginners guitar at best. Intermediate and above players, sheild your eyes from this, it's a sin to look at. Dont even think bout it. Unless you get it for like $20 like that one kid on here. lol. So that's my word.

i play mostly rock. or anything else makes no difference. im using the crappy little amp that came with it. its a 10 watt ibanez. ooo yes all powerful and mighty 10 watt amp! yeah right. for its size it does have a pretty good tone though. the guitar makes a decent sound also. it has a variety of sounds.

everything seems to be adjusted perfectly. the finish is really nice. the only thing that i saw wrong with it was a slight scratch on one of the tuners. nothing really noticable.

Ibanez GRX40, made in China or Korea. Bought off E-Bay for 90 bucks, only slightly used. 2 Single Coils and a Humbucker (all passive stock ibanez) linked into a 5 way switch. Standard strat style bridge. White pick guard. Stock ibanez tuners, I got my guitar with a free case. Nothing Really special or unique about it, pretty much a standard, cheap, beginner electric guitar.

Sound : 6
I play Metal and hard rock. I run the guitar through a Marshall something and other, 30 watts. Anyway, the guitar sounds very good for what it is. I was very surprised. The pickups are a little to muddy and you cant hear any attack on the single coils. The Neck single coil buzzes like hell. Its okay.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Because I bought the guitar used I wont be able to really rate it in this section. When I got it everything was fucked up, the action was way to high, the truss bar too tight, pickups to low... ect. After a little work and tinkering I was able to set it up to my preferences. One thing I did notice was that the little allen screws on the bridge (the ones used to adjust the action) come lose, I have already lost the top allen screw on the low E string. I also lost the pick up switch cap.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar would survive live play but I would care an extra (you should always have an extra guitar when playing live... just in case.) I can already hear the pickup switch going out, it now buzzes on the humbucker which is something new. The strap buttons will work, nothing special. All in all I think it is a very dependable guitar for what you pay for.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Bought the guitar used, not under warranty, and even it it was I dont think I would bother calling customer support if there ever was a problem.

This guitar is great for my style. I play mainly punk some rock some metal but also tons of clean stuff. I use a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4 by 10 with this guitar and occasionally i use a dan electro french toast distortion but this guitar sucks with that pedal. The guitar is very versitile for how much it costs I would definetally recommend it. It is a little noisy distorted though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Guitar was set up well the action and inotation. My Humbucker Pickup keeps loosing up for the first few months but all fixed now. The guitar is pretty good in this category. Except I can't say enough about how horrible the tuners are. Im in a gigging band and when I can sometimes use it for 1 song but ocassionaly i can use it for 3 or 4 which is still horrible.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This guitar will withstand live playing except for the tuner. The hardware should last fine. The strap buttons were great but I replacec all of mine with strap locks. I can depend on it except for the tuners. And I would definetally use a backup.

Made in 2002 in China. Everyone has covered all the features before so there is no need to be redundant. I think this is the absolute best sub $200 guitar on the market. Plays and sounds like a guitar 3 or 4 times the price.

Sound : 10
Suits my style great, which is everything from classic rock to metal to country. I use a Marshall AVT 50 with it, and only the footswitch for distortion. No noise from the humbucker or in the 2d and 4th positions. Only normal single coil hum on the middle and neck pickups. Bridge humbucker has a very nice bright sound on clean and a meaty sound on distortion, much like the bridge pickup of a Les Paul. I like the 4th position best, on distortion gives you that great dark sound which is great for Black Sabbath or Metallica. So far, there is nothing I dislike about it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Setup perfectly. Everything is perfect.

I figure mine was made in 2002 because it is made in China and everyone started making their guitars there by now. Mine is part of an Ibanez Jump Kit, came with an IBZ10 Amp, gigbag, strap, cord, tuner and picks. I had gotten away from electric guitars over the years playing mostly acoustic and got to missing an electric to mess around on once in awhile, but not playing one enough to justify spending big bucks, so I bought this pack brand new for $239.99. I think it is very nice. It is your basic strat setup, but only has one tone control and one volume knob instead of two tone controls like a strat. I actually like this better and the input jack is on the bottom of the guitar instead of on the front like a strat, which I also like better. The shape is a little different than a strat but it looks very nice and feels great. Mine is agathis. Has a humbucker at the bridge position and two single coil pickups with a 5 way selector switch. The humbucker is called a powersound humbucker and they are all made by Ibanez. It has a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The neck is nice!! Plays like butter. Has a standard floating tremelo with a whammy bar, but I never use one of those, prefering to bend strings. Medium frets. Came with all I mentioned above. Great guitar!! I give it a 10 because it has the features it is intended to have......basically everything a strat has except the extra tone knob, which I never thought was worth anything anyway.

Sound : 9
Suits my style of music fine. I play mostly classic rock, grunge, southern rock and get in my moods for heavy metal. This guitar sounds pretty damn good actually. I have a Marshall G30RCD amp as well as the amp that came with it (kick ass little amp). I also have used a Boss DS-1 Distortion Pedal and a Danelectro Corned Beef Hash Reverb Pedal with it. Normal hum from the single coils in the 3rd and 5th positions......which is to be expected. Can have single coils without that. No hum from the humbucker and none in the 2d and 4th position, drawing off of more than one pickup. Has a bright full sound at the humbucker, a hint of tele twang, great for grunge and that blink 182 sound which I like, mellower drawing off the humbucker and middle pickup which is good for classic rock. Third position drawing off the middle pickup gives a bell like tone which is very nice for soft rock. 4th position gives a darker sound and with distortion is very good for things like Sabbath, Metallica and AC/DC stuff. 5th position, drawing from the neck pickup has a very nice blues/jazz tone to it. Overall, this is a damn good sounding guitar. Don't know what everyone is bitching about. One should take into consideration that a $200 guitar is probably not going to sound like an Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck signature strat. I think this guitar will hold its own with any of the mexican strats made by Fender. It certainly outclasses the Squiers by a long shot.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought this at our local music store, so setup was perfect and pickups and intonation were flawless. Great neck.......absolutely incredible.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I see no reason why this guitar would not withstand live playing, although I am retired from gigging these days. Hardware seems fine, finish is great.....mine is a Navy Metallic Blue. Strap buttons are great....actually had trouble getting the strap on it. I would say it is quite dependable. I would NOT gig with anything without a backup. I have had $3,000 Les Pauls and $1,500 Fenders crap out on me during a gig.

Never dealt with Ibanez before, in fact this is the first one I have ever played.

I have been playing for 40 years. I played professionally and as a studio musician for over 20 years. I have had almost every guitar you can imagine from Rickenbackers, Strats, Tele's to Les Pauls. Right now, I have this guitar, a Nelsonic Tele Clone (Awesome!!), a Nelsonic Les Paul Clone (also Awesome!!) and several acoustics and acoustic electrics. Nothing I wish I had asked about it. I went to the shop to buy a new Fender Standard Strat and decided on this one. I actually liked the way it played and sounded better for what I was looking for. Has everything I want. I actually wanted to have a single guitar that would get all the sounds I want......and I think I have found it. I will let some of the others go now.

1997, indo. all the same as previously listed. when i got it it was black, but i took all the dents out of it and painted an auborn red color. i like the humbucker. the neck, it is real slim and a little bit wider than a regular strat neck. it does stand up aganist my strat.

Sound : No Opinion
i like a rich clean tone, i kinda find that in the middle pickup.
right now i am using a peavy amp with a dod death metal and a danelectro 60's style distortion, and a morely wah. if you turn the highs down on the death metal then you can get a good solid distortion out of if. mostly the clean is a cheap non quality sound, but hey i only payed 20$ for this thing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
when i got it , it was in a 1002 pieces so i prety much set it up how i liked it. the original finish was like a milk jug, when i painted i just sanded alittle , filled in dents, primed and then painted.

Reliability/Durability : 7
the tuners suck. their like a 12$ set. i am going to upgrade soon, i just finished it about 3 weeks ago.

i also own a strat and a takamine, this would be the first to go. probaly if it were lost or stolen, the only thing i would be mad about would, that i spent a month painting it. and payed to have somone set it up and wire it.after all that it ened up costing about 130$

well think it was made in korea or indonesia...whatever...22 frets, volume and tone pots, a cheap tremolo arm, and finally a 5-way selector. S/S/H config, the finish was veeery cheap, but hey this guitar only costs 200 to 250 ? (euro). very good neck though, fast action...no accessories...

Sound : 7
i play different kinds of music, such as old classic rock, copying classical hits of the 17th to the 19th century. then what i use it mainly for is for punkrock and ska, so i need a nice clean sound and high output for the humbucker in the bridge position. actually the humbucker is the only pickup on that guitar that DOES NOT hum like the single coils, they are just too bad...humbucker though is good for that price. the sound is not that great, but actually not too bad for playing punkrock, because of its bright sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i don't know if the guitar which i own was set up at factory or at the store where i bought it...but the action was very good, very playable and very fast...good for playing lead sounds...well everything o.k. here...i'll give it a 9.

Reliability/Durability : 6
first of all: this guitar is only for practising at home, or for beginners, after one year you'll hate the cheap sound!
well i've experienced some problems the pots; they're just making strange noises when i turn them on some special positions...but i think the finish is good enough to last for the time you want to play this guitar...i would certainly use it on a gig without backup (actually i don't have another guitar)

Customer Support : No Opinion
never ever dealt with them...

Overall Rating : 7
nothing more to say.....very good beginner guitar because of the fast-action neck and the acceptable sound...but don't consider using it over 1 year!
i'm thinking of buying a new one soon, maybe an Ibanez S520...
so, that's all...good night

year don't know, made in korea, 22 fret, 5 way pick up switch ,volume and tone, single at neck and centre humbucker at bridge, maple neck and fingerboard,. Goes out of tune quickly if whammy bar used.

Sound : 5
rock style mainly but also clean chord progressions all over the neck,
very good for leads, and the low action make this a very fast neck. Using a fender champ, a little scratching with the pots, will go out of tune quickly if the whammy bar is used, bright sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Set up was good, the action is very low, among the lowest I have seen. Playable straight away. but strings could have done with a change. 5 because of the strings but I got the guitar cheap as it was ex display... no buzzing at all on the neck.

Reliability/Durability : 4
The tuners aren't the best and it will go out of tune quickly if the whammy bar is used. Strap buttons are fine, finish isn't that great but this can add character. Need a back up if playing live.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with the company. Never will.

Been playing 20 years, and bought this for my 13 year old son as an introduction to rock music playing, I told the shop what I wanted and this is what they came up with, excellent choice. it was ex display, definatley buy another at this moment in time, but after a year or so he will hopefully move to another better giutar and I will use this one. I will add either a locking nut and or new tuners and maybe a decent whammy bar and it would be just about spot on for me. only moan is the whamy bar knocking it out of tune.

Same as everyone else. 22 frets, made in indonesia. rosewood & maple neck, some unknown body (probably agathis). 2001. Has every feature you could want in a budget guitar, except a locking tremolo

Sound : No Opinion
Ok sound. Not much buz. Absolutely no character. Kinda sounds like a synth trying to sound like a guitar. Surprisingly good artificial harmonics though. Using with a AVT100 marshall.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Only had it a few days. I'm adjusting it for a friend. Generally has ok parts (for the price) but put together by a blind one armed indonesian monkey whilst being chased by a komodo dragon. Everything was wrong - and still is. Fix one thing, find another thing wrong. About to give up. Originally: strings too high, I think the truss rod was in extension (you could actually see the concavity in the neck), pickups all over the place, tuning pegs too rigid, but the most surprising thing is...........................IT CAME WITH DIFFERENT GUAGE STRINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reliability/Durability : 1
Will not withstand live playing. Will not even withstand practice playing. WHY?????????? because it will not withstand TUNING. In order to play a guitar, one must tune it. BEWARE ALL. tuning heads must be replaced immediately.
Of course the hardware will last. No one will ever play something that doesn't hold tune.
50 backups wouldn't be enough. In fact, 1 backup for every bar in a song wouldn't be enough.
For some reason, it kinda feels like the electronics aren't quite right. Cant quite figure this one out yet cos there's so many other things not quite right

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. But I'm gonna strongly encourage my friend to do so......QUICKLY

Overall Rating : 3
Played for 7 years.
Boss me 30, original crybaby, marshall avt100, squire strat silver series, takamine g series,
I wish my friend had asked me before buying this guitar!!!!
If lost or stolen, I'd like to hunt down the thief and laugh at him. But then again, everyone else would when he goes out of tune after the first note at his next gig.
Yeah, its a cheap guitar, but just cos its cheap doesn't mean its worth it if you cant use it. Fork up an extra few and get something worthwhile.

It is a 22 fret 2001 model, im not gonna go over the details again, as everyone has already said and to be honest, im not a guitar buff (YET!)

oh yeah it came with some tools and stuff, i got the T,blue coulour version, which in my humble opinion kickas ass!

i will give it 9, coz it dosent have brand name pick ups, but it still kicks serious butt!

Sound : 10
Ok, i play everything from indie to rock to metal to punk, i have even been known to play bluesy style stuff! It seems to be able to cope with everything i have been able to through @ it so far, though i have only had it one day!

im using it through a bargain basement style 10 watt amp i picked up @ the same time, this is my first guitar, i had #200 to spend, so i went for this baby!

Hey Joe by the one and only jimi Hendrix sounds brilliant on the clean channel, with the volume whacked up loud! even though its going through a 10 watt amp!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I was pretty pleased with the whole thing, except a few minor inconveniances! ie i dont know if this is the same for all electric guitars, but i had to remove this plastic film from the scratch plate and little bits got caught round the tone knob, and round the bridge and pick ups etc! a tad annoying! the humbucker was a bit wobbly as well! generally good after minor adjustment!

Reliability/Durability : 9
the strap buttons are so solid, i struggled to get the god damn strap on!

I have only been playing a little while, maybe 2 months ( i had a fender dg3 accoutic before!) so i wont be gigging for a while but in my opinion it will be fine for gigging, i would use this without a back up, though i would take a very good/quick tuner!

Customer Support : No Opinion
NOT DEALT WITH IBANEZ

Overall Rating : 10
I compared this to guitars in a similar price range , eg squier strat, tele, some no name bollox, and a yamaha pacifica. They were all complete shit compared to this beast! i took the liberty of trying out proper fenders and epiphones etc, and in both mine and the guy @ the shops opinion this thing kicked there sorry asses!

i would not hesitate to buy another! i would hunt down the bastard who took it from me, and cave his head in with a sledge hammer!

I would just like to say this thing kicks butt from start to finish! fantastic value for the money i payed! It's an Ibanez for f*cks sake!

what i can say it is not wonderful but still good it has a pretty good clean sounding not as a strat but if is your first guitar that would do it. I don't have anyone problem with my guitar. I have 3 years of playing guitar mostly metallica, maiden... but also offspring, or three doors down and even the new shit slipnot or system of a down. It work for me.

made in indonisia in 1998. has 21 frets, and a horrible sounding laminated top. basically a strat minus the second tone control. ssh config. ibanez "powersound" pickups. if you ask me, ibanez has no business making pickups. its basically a strat knock-off. complete with the same style bridge, neck, etc. gig bag included. not to many great features. pretty much a one-trick pony.

Sound : 4
i play everything. jazz, blues, metal, punk, and funk. this guitar sounds horrible. its made of some obscure wood called "agathis" it might as well be made out of plywood. the finish makes me think that the body was just dipped in a vat of paint a few times and left to dry. the pickups are noisy as hell, (except for the humbucker of course). there is NO Character in the tone. it sounds like your playing a synthisizer.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
the factory setup on this guitar was horrible. the strings were so high, i thought i was gonna cut my hand! the pickup adjustment was too high. the finish is horribly thick, and takes away alot from the tone. probably just to cover up the crap wood they used on this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 5
not reliable at all! a few months into the use of this guitar, the pickup selector switch crapped out on me. had to take it in to get replaced. the bridge is a little rough, and breaks alot of strings. the finish gets dented easiily. definately wouldn't gig without backup. wouldn't even gig with it at all, it sounds horrible. i could probably rip the neck off this guitar with a little effort.

Customer Support : No Opinion
have never used them

Overall Rating : 4
if you are thinking about getting this guitar, DON'T!! there are many better options in this price range. go for a used epiphone or squier. or maybe a used mexi strat. don't get this guitar! i promise you, you won't be satisfied.

I bought it in 2000, think i'ts 1999 or 2000 Model.
This one was made in Indonesia, 22 Frets and a nice RG-like neck, Black Finish w/ white Pickguard. It has the typically Ibanez 5-way selector, 2 Single Coils and a Humbucker (Powersound Pickups are not the Best but do think they will put Dimarzios on a 250 $ Guitar???). The Fretboard is made of Rosewood, the Body is Agatis. It has a RG designed Body and comes w/ a Standard, non-Locking Tremolo (Strings thru Body, I like this because it is similar to an fixed Bridge).

Sound : 9
I play heavy shit (METAL) and I think this one can do it, I'm using a Metal Zone and some other Effects thru an Marshall MG80RCD. The single coils are not made for high-gain (buzzing too much). The clean Sound is OK. I think the Humbucker can handle the Metal Zone quite well, it kicks Azz !!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I think the Setup was good, there were enough Space between the Strings and the Pickups were set nice. I only tightened the Finetuning-Screws on the Bridge a littlebit cuz I need a bit more String Tension (I tune it very low). The Tuning machines were OK (It absoluteles stays in tune).
When I bought it the Jack was a bit loosen, I tightened it and got not any problems again. I said it before this one normally have a standard Tremolo, but I bought it without a Tremolo-arm, so I am not sure if it stays in tune if you are tremoloing but without using the Tremolo
it's stability is fine.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I would definitley use this Guitar on a Live-Show (without a Back-Up) cuz I am playing on it for over 1 and a half year without problems. There are no problems with the Hardware, once my Strap slipped off but that was not a problem with the Strapbuttons (I was holding the Axe a bit too vertical).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I had never to deal w/ tha Company cuz there were no problems with the GRX.

Overall Rating : 10
This is my First Guitar, I bought it and got no fuckin' Info before but I NEVER regret anything. This is definitley not my last Guitar but I will still love it. I think everyone knows that this is a Beginner-Guitar and all these Punks should stop to compare this one with for e.g. an 1000 Dollar Axe.
This Guitar works very nice, I think it the Price can't be beaten and the Money/Value Relation is fantastic. Maybe it would look a bit better if the Pickguard and Pickups were black too but this doesn't really matter. If it was stolen I am absoluteley sure that I would buy it again. I think it is
a PERFECT Beginner-Guitar but you'll like it much longer, even you are getting professional. Nice Guitar, buy it !!!

this is a 1998 model, made in Japan oddly enough, most of the 40's are made in china. 22 frets, solid agathis body with rare electric blue finish, maple neck, rosewood fretboard. Comes with 2 passive powersound single coils at the neck and middle, and a powersound humbucker at the neck. It's got a basic strat style body, personally i like the more pointed ibanez body style over the traditional strat, i'm not a fender guy. Strat syle bridge, 6 saddle, each with 2 allen screw adjusters. Non-locking tuners, that work really well, even though they're ibanez made. Medium thickness neck, comparable with a strat or tele, thinner maybe even.

Sound : 6
Suits my stlye pretty well which is rock/grunge, it also can get pretty nice clean channle sounds though it gets a bit fuzzy on clean chords. I play it through a 25 amp ibanez amp most of the time, but gigs i play it through either a roland 4x6" digital amp, or a fender m-80. Mine had a short in it from day one so everything buzzed, but that got fixed along with another minor problem i'll explain a bit later.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The factory setup was superb, nothing to complain about but the short in the humbucker, which made everything buzz. everything routed out fine, no scratches anywhere. everything was great

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar stands up live, probably as a backup though. In my band we call it the beast though, because it's been dropped so many times and is still going strong. no chips or scratches even after a dozen drops or so. I trust the strap buttons, they seem to hold without moving at all. Dependable all arround. I don't have a "backup" so i always gig with it. now to the problem... after about a year of hard playing the humbucker burnt out, so i took it to the local BCR and got all the pickups replaced. Seymor Duncan's all arround, 2 hot rails in the single slots and a screamin' deamon in the 'bucker. it'll shred anything now.

Customer Support : 4
Never needed it, when it burned out it was already out of waranty. normal 1 year warranty on it

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playing it for about 4 years now, and i also own a squire (i know laugh, but it's a great bass) 5-string p-bass. no regrets about this guitar though, it'll beat anything for the price i paid, which with the new pickups was just over 350 bucks. If it were stolen i probably wouldnt get another, simply cuz i've got this one so custom to me, it'd be tough to do again. i particularly enjoy it's toughness, i love being able to bang it arround a bit and not worry about it, it's a tank. i compared it to a jap-strat and epiphone les-pauls and it won hands down. it's made me an ibanez man for life

it has tone, volume w/ 2 pickups and a three way selector...
s/h PC...
the wood is mahogany (i think)...
with a satin finish...
double-cutaway...
rosewood neck...
this guitar came in a kit, gigbag, GT10DX amp, cable, GA20 tuner, strap, pouch, book, video, distortion pedal and picks were all included...

i think the guitar is better for hard-rock sounds and should stay away from alternative w/ this...
GT10DX ibanez amp, and an ibanez ds-7 distortion pedal...
it isn't all that loud which is good i dont like to blast my music so i would recomend this guitar to NEone who plays it in they're room :)
the sound is pretty dull now but it used to be better...
it sounds the best w/ the overdrive turned up all the way... so i would stay with rock music.
it is my first guitar so hell ya im gonna like it!

this is my first guitar so i dont know jack sh*t about this category but as far as i can tell, it was set up well in the factory, and no, there weren't NE flaws...

Made in Indonesia in 1999. Strat style, 22 frets, Volume, Tone, 5-way pickup selector. S/S/H configuration. Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Agathis body. Non locking tuners and tremelo. Mine is Metallic Grape color. Which means Blue/Purple with sparkles. When I bought it online I thought it would look kinda fruity, but it turned out to be nice looking in my opinion. Standard features for a beginner guitar.

Sound : 9
I play emo, punk, rock. This guitar is good because it has a humbucker pickup, which makes the clean sound that I need to play. My setup is the GRX40 > No name 10 watt amp. However, I bring it to my friends house and play with his amp and effects. Then, it is the GRX40 > Dunlop Original Crybaby > Boss Metal Zone > Ibanez Smash Box > Digitech GNX1 > Crate GFX65. Nice clean sounds on the singlecoils. The humbucker is also decent. It sounds like any strat in the same price range. It sounds very good with the effect pedals and the amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I got this brand new online on Ebay. The action and intonation were pretty much on the spot. I didn't have to tweak it any. It came with warrenty and an instruction manual that tells you how to change the action, replace strings, etc. The pickups were fine. The controls were fine. The strings were below average. Everything worked as it should, which is not the best considering this is a $160 guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 7
It's a beginner's guitar. It looks like it would last aslong as you don't abuse it. I've had it for a month and nothing has broken. I would gig with it, but not without a backup. The strap buttons could've been bigger.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 9
This is my first guitar. I plan on getting better pickups and a new amp and some effects processors soon. If this were lost or stolen, I would save up for something better as I would need something better by then. There's nothing I love or hate. It's a good beginning guitar. I compared this to my friend's Squire strat. This is better in my opinion, but I might be biased. I don't wish for anything more for it because then I would just be greedy. I got what I paid for, and unlike other people who reviewed this guitar, I knew what to expect from it.

My guitar was made in 1998. I'm not gonna go over the features because everyone else covered it.

Sound : 9
The sound was good when I got it, but I changed the bridge pickup to a Duncan JB. Now the guitar sounds awesome. Currently my practice rig consist of GRX40 -> Zoom 505 II -> Ibanez Thrashmetal -> Ibanez GT-10. I only use that one for my "At-Home" jamming. In my band, I use the GRX40 -> Zoom 505 II -> Laney g130. I don't like the sound of the laney (it's not my amp anyway), so I'll probably get a Crate GFX-212 or a Marshall MG80RCD. I've tried the guitar with both and both sound amazing. The JB really brings out the sound of the guitar and I just love the sound of the 2 single coil (stock) pickups when they are on together.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Everything is pretty good now, I just want to get a little lower action without fret buzz.

Good guitar. I'd buy it again, if I didn't want anything better. It's a good guitar for the money and it is my first so I'm a little partial to it. Made in Indonesia in 99, I think, 22 frets, 5 way-selector, one tone, one volume. Dunno about the pickups but they are S/S/H. Strat-stile body made of agathis, and I think that the neck is maple with rosewood fingerboard. Nice dark blue finish. Non-locking tremolono and non-locking tuners. I got it with a cable, gigbag and some picks, and some tools for the bridge.

Sound : 8
I play metal, and I actually think that it does the job quite well. One of my friends says that it sounds much better than his Squire (S/S/S). I use a shitty Peavey 15 W amp, but i play through my stereo cause the speaker on my amp really sucks. Not noisy at all, unless you stand close to a computer or a TV set. Then the single coils get noisy. The single coils sucks with distortion, but clean they sound really great (I get the best clean sound when i play with dist, but turn the volume to a littel bit past zero). The humbucker sound very flat when on clean, but sounds really good with distortion.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action was actually set quite well, and there were no other flaws. Not best, but really great for the price.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I think it would witstand live playing, but I would definately use a backup in case of string breakage. The finish is good enough for the price, and it doesn't seem to wear of at all.

I have been playing for about a year, and I'm completely satisfied with it. If it was stolen, I wouldn't buy it again because I want something a little bit more metal-looking. I think it's a really great guitar for the price, but I wish it had EMG pickups =)

its got 22 jumbo frets..made quite recently..it's a strat style guitar with a nice red finish...has one volume and one tone knob,5 way selector for the s/s/H configuration...non-locking tremelo..non-locking tuners...passive electronics..made of some cheap wood called agathis...it has an awsome thin maple neck with rosewood fingerboard..its the best part of the whole guitar...nice and fast...i got it in the pack..so it came with an amp..gig bag.picks..cable..etc...etc..

Sound : 6
well..my set up consists of a grx 40, boss me-30, stephens audio 28 watt amp...i play most any type of hard rock from pearl jam...creed.metallica..stuff like that and it fits my style quite well. the neck pickup has a very smooth sound to it..and themiddle pick up gets a little more bite to it...the humbucker is by far the best pickup of the three..it is bright though..the pickups get quite noisy when at high gains with humming and lots of feedback..especially with the single coils..itas ok but the humbucker is bright and quite muddy..as withe the rest odf the pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the action from the factory was set very high..i used it at first then eventually set it much lower to get a faster feel on it..pickups were adjusted fine..very nice finish..no flaws to complain about..i have yet to chip or dent it in the 6 months i've had it so i can't say how well it was finished

Reliability/Durability : 10
i havent gigged with it yet..i would asay it would be able to withstand the punishment of live playing...not without a backup of course...strap buttons are big..but i don't know if there big enough

Customer Support : No Opinion

Quite recently made..standard 22 frets. Standard S/S/H configuration. Features disasterous strings...(you should never use factory strings)
The tuners are off as well. They are always off after you play with them for a while.
Also when I purchased this, I only got THE guitar.. no box/bag, no warrenty, no nothing...just had to walk out the store clutching a guitar.

Sound : 7
Sound is ok~ That's all. The single pickups are pretty good, although noisy. But the Humbucker is quite sufficient for the job also. Single pickups sound bright, even the humbuckers are bright. The first 2 pickups sound exactly the same. I can never hear the difference.

The clean state sounds cool. I love it. The 5 setting selector switch looks like it's going to break down soon.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
This guitar was neglected by the guru's at the music shop. The guitar was not properly set up, very bad action. I had a really tough time setting it up. I recommend it to change the tuners.

Reliability/Durability : 6
This guitar is not suited for live gigs, I repeat NOT suitable.
If I can replace the tuners and get a $150 single pickups then I would. The guitar cable socket is not very durable. Finish is about a $300 guitar's standard.

Customer Support : 1
I wouldnt try to call customer support since I never got any warrenty, papers/manual/etc.. Looks to me like the guys at the store are pretty crud for not providing warrenty.

You know what? you can get a replacement if your hamburger was off at Burger King. But with a $400 guitar...Noooooo.

I have to give a zero for this...(why cant I choose zero?)

Overall Rating : 6
I am more into acustic guitar, but this is my first elec. I own Yamaha/technics keyboards..etc. But this is a budget job I just need to use at home.

This is a suitable Strat wanna-be I guess. My choice in purchasing this guitar was because it wasn't made by some company by Fender (if you know what I mean) and also the no-name brands like peavey/ashton/samick were not even upto the $300 guitar standard.

I used a ZOOM 505 with this... no problems.
The next thing I wanna buy is some pedals, maybe a BOSS AC-1 to emulate an acustic... and strum my head off.

This guitar has a 5 way selector switch for the H-S-S pickups. The Body style is a strat, with a back feed bridge (not locking). The neck is great, thin, and not painted with paint that will slow you down when you play and your hands are clammy. Nothing extra came with this, and im not sure what the wood is.

Sound : 10
My setup is-- GRX40-->ibanez SM-7 Smash Box-->Small Stone-->Crybaby-->Park Bass amp. There was a lot of feedback on the single coils, even when i had the void switch on. But about a week ago, i changed where my amp was pointing, and no more buzz, even when I don't have the void switch on. The sound is really low in mine, because i use a bass amp. When i first got this guitar, i sucked, but now im pretty good, for some reason the pickups got better after useing it for a while. I play slipknot, RATM, blink 182.....its good for all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The strings that come on it suck. They broke the day after i got it, but thats minor, just make sure you pick up a good set when you get this guitar. I don't know much about how pickups are adjusted and stuff, I used a Gibson Melody Maker the one 1 pickup work, sometimes, so this was a HUGE improvement. The tuning pegs are kind of loose, but when the string is tight, they're fine. It stays in tune pretty well, I played it for 2 weeks with out tuning it and it was only a small bit out of tune.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I'd play a live show with this guitar, i wouldn't worry about having a back up. The finish is really good, but since mine is black if you touch it, you see a smudge. A damp cloth will get dirt and smudges off. The strap buttons are good.

Customer Support : 5
Well, When i had to have my guitar store call about a pedal, they didn't answer, they had to keep calling. Thats the only experience i've had.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing it for about 6 months. I would probably buy a jackson dinky reverse pro, then i'd get this again (i doubt i would lose a guitar though). I can't same anything else really.

All of the people in this forum that are complaining about this guitar need to get their heads out of their butts and realize that we're talking about a $200 guitar. It's a BEGINNER guitar. Get over it - you get what you pay for. I've been playing for 10 years and most of my electrics are American Strats. This little Ibanez is awesome for what it is. I bought it because I thought it was cool, and it's fun to plink around with. If you want fancy hardware, smokin' pickups and everything else you people are complaining about, then go buy a $1,200 Strat. Otherwise, shut up and play. The fit and finish is great - I just set the action (the intonation was spot-on from the factory), plugged it in and started jamming. For the money, you can't beat it. I love my little Ibanez - for $200, it rocks.

Made in Indonesia. 22 frets. Volume, tone, and 5 way pickup selctor. Single, single, and humbucker. Not sure of make of pickups (only sure that they suck). Made of maple as far as I know.

Sound : 3
The sound is good if you're into that 50s and 60s stuff, or anything else with little distortion. This thing sounds bad distorted. I've heard worse, but only from a bargain guitar. The guitar squeels really bad. It has a really good sound for little distortion, but nothing else.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Well, I may have just gotten a lemon. The volume knob is loose and it fell off the pickguard. A few tuners stopped working.

Reliability/Durability : 9
One thing I can do with this thing is count on it. No complaints really. It seems a bit frail, but nothing a little screwdriver work could never fix.

Never messed with warrenties in my whole life. If it broke it just broke and I went on.

1999 model, can't remeber exactly where they are made.Nice Agatis body, a little heavy but after 5 minutes of having it on it is just fine and nowere near as heavy as a Les Paul. Ibanez Powersound pickups(HSS). Neck Is thin and wider than most necks. Feels better than most other necks. Non locking tuners and standard tremolo. Gotta love the black finish.Came in an Ibanez Jam Pack which included gigbag, awesome Ibanez GT10DX amp, Korg GA-20 tuner, strap, picks,Allen Wrenches, and chord book that also has some Cool riffs. The Guitar makes a statement Even before you plug it in.

Sound : 10
This Guitar was definitely made for the person who wants to rock., Though many great clean tones come out of the cheap priced but excellent pickups. With my GT10DX amp, This baby cranks out tons of distortion. With the volume and distortion All the way up on my amp, feedback becomes an issue. With a 20 foot cable you will be just fine. Has tons of sustain and gain. When asked for clean sound, it delivers beautifully. Love everything about it. Try one and see for yourself.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is set just right. Never need to adjust the pickups. You can definitely tell that the people at Ibanez know what they are doing. When I first took It out of the gig bag, it looked like it was made yesterday. The frets made for excellent intonation and effortless bending. The pickup selector worked quietly and perfectly. The saddles were set pefectly. The bridge is a standard tremolo that's works fine the few times I had the whammy bar on. The nut was cut with no flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Am not in a band but I would think It could withstand at least a world tour. The hardware seems like it would last forever. The finish is definitely going to last unless you intentionally scratch the crap out of it. The strap buttons stayed tight. I definitely would not need a backup. I can definitely depend on it and you can too.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to deal with Ibanez because they make instruments that don't need customer support. Doubt I'll ever need to contact them except maybe to congratulate them.

Overall Rating : 10
You can tell it was definitely made with beginners in mind, but is good for anybody. I guard this thing so it won't get stolen but if it did, I would definitely buy another one. Nothing to complain about. Though not as great as an RG or Universe( My Favorite Guitar of all time), definitely something to buy.

Indonesian made guitar with a maple neck, agatis body, and rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are Ibanez's "Powersound" pickups in a S-S-H configuration and there are strat-ish volume-tone-tone controls and a 5 position rocker switch. The body style is the same as the RG, an looks pretty good in metallic red. The tuners aren't great and neither is the fulcrum tremolo. All-in-all a rather average beginners electric.

Sound : 6
It's a pretty versatile guitar, but is definitely more suited to rock and metal. I'm using a small Ibanez amp with a Zoom 505 (my practice setup) and can get a pretty good sound easily. The powersound pickups are rather impressive for the price range, but keep in mind you get what you pay for. Humbucker screams nicely, and a good clean tone can be coaxed from the single coils. Be warned, hum in prevalent in positions 2,3 and 5.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Almost everything was a little off in the setup, but nothing was seriously wrong. Pickups and bridge needed minor adjustments, but the neck was fine. the nut seems to be cut well and there were no loose controls. However, the guitar played exceptionally well once I had it set up to my tastes. Again, for the money, the setup was more than adequate.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Good hardware should last, finish is safe. I intend to use it as a backup/practice guitar, and it should serve this purpose well

Customer Support : 5
Never dealt with Ibanez's customer support, but I've heard both negative and positve stories

Overall Rating : 8
I bought this guitar as a secondary/practice guitar to complement my Carvin DC135, and it hasn't disappointed me. It has the same pickup configuration as the Carvin, which is another reason that I purchased it. If you compare it to a PRS it sucks, but for the money it is a very well built and decent sounding guitar. I love the feel of the guitar, it plays very nicely. My only complaint is the tuning machines are suspect. Bottom line, for the money it is a good deal.

made in 98, indonesia, 22 frets, volume, tone, s/s/h, crappy tuners, strat style, metallic red finish, powersound pickups, so-so neck, floating bridge. very crappy wood called agatis.

Sound : 3
i play whatever i feel like, i am my own master, roar. the humbucker is too quiet and feels kinda pansy. after screwing with the height of the two single coils, and replacing them, neck with middle and middle with neck( i dont think it did much), but i have a nice sound when playing with neck/middle combined ONLYm, all other sounds are bad. i get horrible feedback on it, but that is what happens when you screw with the height. i get a thick sound out of it you feel like you could cut it with a knife. i use a boss metal zone and a boss digital delay 5, through my crappy fender frontman, *sigh* but i am just frustrated with my lack of volume, and if it were a bigger amp, it would sound a lot better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
pickups adjusted bad. paint job fine, set up pretty poorly and my neck started to bow, but i fixed it. crappy saddle, strings keep breaking on it, bad string height.

Reliability/Durability : 1
HORRID. after the first two weeks, the straplock flew out of the crappy unknown wood the guitar was made of. after the fourth month, the jack came loose and the nutaround it broke. then the springboard on the back was fine, until the screws flew out in the middle of playing and i could play with it until i epoxied the screws back in. then after owning it for about a year, the jack started going haywire, i opened it up and i almost died because i saw the absolutely horrible soldering job that was done on it. the wire was holding on by just one thin strand. i managed to fix it, but in a few weeks it broke again, this time frustrated, i ripped it out in a rage, and then proceded to destroy the beast with a hammer. the paint or the wood wont last, due to how much it was cracked and chipped from my assault. all other hardware should last. it survived my attack and i taped it back up, so now it looks like crap, but with ATTITUDE. i wouldn't use a backup, because this wouldn't be the guitar i would play, and if i did play this, it would be to only smash it, and probably get some bad indonesian splinters in my hands from it.

Overall Rating : 1
been playing for two years. yes people say i dont know what i am talking about, but believe you me, this guitar is frankenstein's monster's monster. iown an ibanez soundgear 300 bass. if it were stolen or lost, i would hunt down the person who stole it and laugh at them, if it were lost i would hold a ceremony. i hate it, it just falls apart, i would sacrafice it, but the gods would kill me for such a crappy sacrifice. i wish it had a maple fretboard, schaller tuners, a bolt on bridge, and an alder body. i say, after my first two weeks i was sobbing becaus eof what kind of crap i had bought. i have a love hate relationship with it however. i like the fact that it is so light, and i love the sound in the second position that i cant get on any other guitar. this is just crap. dont buy it. steal someone else's guitar, just dont go near this freak.

Made in 98. 22 frets, 5 way pickup toggle with s/s/h config. The pickups are Ibanez powersound stock SHIT (passive electronics..Shit again) . Neck is Maple/rosewood, this is the guitars crowning glory if you can believe that. The body is an obscure wood called Agathis. It is a super srat (RG) body NO LOCKING TREM OF ANY KIND! Shitting tuning machines. No accesories included.

Sound : 7
I play metal and, ironically, it doesn't do it that badly. It is played through a Marshall VS30R with a Boss Metal Zone and a Dunlop original Crybaby wah. Sounds pretty good, nothing special but it does the job. This guitar could concievably play any style of music under the sun.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
Action sucks, pickups sound the same no matter what position they are in. My biggest beef with this guitar is the tuning machines, the absolutely refuse to stay in tune after after 1 count it 1, full step bend. Let alone using the whammy bar.....The frets are, in Ibanez's words, low wide. Think about that for a minute.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've had it for 8 months and nothings broken, so i guess its reliable....

Made in Indonesia. I'm not sure what year it was made. It has 22 medium frets, Ibanez Powersound pickups (2 single coils and 1 humbucker), 5-way selector, hardwood body, Wizard neck, non-locking tuners.

Sound : 10
It suits may style fine. I play many different types of music (punk, metal, etc.). The pickups are not noisy at all. The single coils only get noisy when the television is on. It has a great sound with the amp I am using. I use a Laney HC50R 50-watt combo amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was setup very well when I got it. I ordered it from American Musical Supply. The finish was perfect. The only adjustment I made was raising the bridge pickup some.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar is very reliable. I have had it for about a year and I have only had two problems. I had a problem with the strap buttons, so I switched them to Dunlop straploks. The other problem is with one of the tuners. The G string will not stay in tune for very long. I have to retune it at least two or three times while I am playing. I would gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not dealt with the Ibanez company yet.

I have been playing for about three years now. This is my second guitar (I borrowed my brothers Peavey Patriot until I learned how to play). I own two other guitars, an Epiphone PR-200 Acoustic-Electric and I recently purchased a Danelectro 59DC Reissue. I use a Laney amp and a BOSS PH-2 Super Phaser. If this guitar were lost or stolen I would probably buy it again. I couldn't find a better guitar for the money. The only problems were the tuners and the strap buttons, everything else was perfect.
