Super Strat configuration, H-S-S, with trem. Got it as part of a set so naturally it came with gobs of stuff.
Black finish with a few pearly flecks in it.
5-way switch.
Volume and tone, but not two tone knobs, just the one. Of all the things about this git, the knobs seem cheapest, everything else seems pretty good. But the knobs stay on and work, so no big deal.
Sound

I commute between two apartments and have different gits at each one. Whenever I come back to the Ibanez GSA 60 location, I am always delighted anew each time. The guitar just plain sounds good. Lots of ring, lots of sustain, lots of variety from the PU's. THe humbucker gives good crunch, the SCs are sweet. When I first got this item I was new to the electric game, but now after playing for over a year and having something to compare it to, this guitar just keeps on bringing in the goods.
I prefer my hohner OSC for a few things, but that's more a matter of style.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
Decently set up in the box, I tweaked it a little but it did not need a professional job, unlike the other 3 electrics I have.
Pickups, sure I adjusted them who doesn't; I like a quiet middle one so I moved it back, but that's just me.
Otherwise incredibly playable right from the start.
Oh, I changed the strings, it came with 9's and I like 10's. No big deal.
Reliability/Durability
:8
In over a year of constant use it has acquired one tiny dent where it fell against a furniture corner. Otherwise still perfect.
It stays in tune as well as or better than my others (a vintage Avenger, a Hohner OSCII), and I would gladly play live with it and plan to. WOuld naturally use a backup, both in case of weird accident and because for some songs I like a neck humbucker.

Played as a kid, then dropped it, took it back up as an adult. Been playing for a little over a year, including live (parties etc.). Tend towards the indie-surf rock and turkish. This does well on both, being quite flexible, can give me the clean sound I want for turkish, as well as whatever might enter my mind for indie rock, except for things that prefer a neck humbucker. I use bluegrass licks sometimes and the middle PU lets me do those too, nice and clean, then flip the switch to the bridge hummer for crunchy power chords. I don't like lots of stratocaster-esque twang or quack, and this is mercifully free of those, but folks who like that sound may find fault with this; I don't. I don't use a lot of FX, tend to play clean or with just a little overdrive, so I cannot speak to how it works lots of FX.
I was very much a novice when I bought this, and lucked out - I could have done waaay worse in my ignorance at the time. Now after a year of playing, alone and in a band, this is still a great guitar that I enjoy playing and do not have any reservations about. I will keep it and use it as one of my main guitars, despite what anybody might say about it being a beginner's guitar. Obviously there are better instruments out there, but for the money I think this is a total winner.

8/8/08 manufacture.
Three decent pick-ups, two single coil and one humbucker, with a 5-way selector, but unfortunately only master volume and master tone knobs. Nice string-through body bridge, and decent tremolo arm set-up, which holds its tuning fairly well.
Sound
:8
Sounds fantastic, even on the cheap practice amp I've been using it with. Low noise, great sound. No fret noise out of the box even with detuned strings. Not too bright, but good tone and sustain.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
Pick-ups could have been better aligned, wiring visible from front of body. Pick-up selector and knobs are completely noiseless and smooth. The finish is beautiful, but has a bit of a sparkly character to it, despite the photographs portraying a more matte/low gloss tone. Bridge was decently set-up, but factory strings didn't even survive tuning, so I adjusted the set-up pretty much immediately with my new strings.
Reliability/Durability
:10
Seems extremely reliable, wiring looks impeccable and there's no unexplained noise. Strap-buttons are great for standard buttons, but of course a strap-lock set-up is prefered. Finish shows smudges easily, but looks like it can take a beating.

I traded in my old Danelectro in favor of a more modern sounding guitar, and got just that. It doesn't have the beautiful tone of my semi-hollow u2-56, but it has good sound more suited for heavier music. I've been playing an Ibanez GSR205 bass for several years and loving it, and my experience so far with this guitar has been almost as good.
I wish this guitar had independant volume knobs so I could use the pick-up selector as a killswitch, and the bridge could stand to be a little more stable. Likewise, the pick-ups could have a little more omph.
Overall, I think this is a fantastic value for the price. It could stand for some upgrades, but it still performs beyond its price.

I bought this as an inexpensive back up for my Ibanez SAS model. I know it is a cheaper version but there is enough character in this guitar. The body has a nice contour which you might expect from a Joe Satriani model. The neck is incredibly thin. I would have preferred one slightly thicker but everyone has their own tastes. The tremelo bar and bridge are ever so sensitive yet they do not put the guitar out of tune. This is ideal for me when playing country music like a slide fiddle.
Sound

The pickup selector give such a range of sounds so there is no need to buy a modelling guitar. In particular the positions 2 and 4 sound very much like an acoustic and the bridge pick up is really good for leads.

This was perfectly set up. No fret buzz, no uneven frets and a perfect action.

The price of these guitars is astonishing. For a few pounds less you could end up with some junk which will discourage any player. It is probably the best solid body guitar at around one hundred and fifty pounds. For people who can play acoustic guitars and want a first electric this is the one I recommend. Though I do mention the thin neck it is not too pricey, gives good variety of sounds, stays in tune, is light though thick in sound, does not have the hassle of a locking trem, and looks like a really expensive model.

Ive been playing for around 4 years and this guitar was my first. Gotta say its been good, the only things i needed to fix where the volume gages popped out, could be somthing i did, and tighten the pickups. But other than that its been good. However i would say this guitar is good for rythm but not very good good for leads. its a starter guitar but i wouldnt upgrade to it unless u had one of those walmart guitars of an acoustic.

I pretty much stole this guitar from a broke dude off craigslist ($70), but I was totally floored with what I got. I was expecting a beater to screw around with and not care if it got dinged up or stolen. What I wound up with is a guitar that seriously competes with far more expensive makes at a price that is a total joke.
Don't let the price scare you. It's not "cheap". It's just inexpensive (thanks to CNC technology and outsourcing- not because they cut any corners with quality)
If you buy guitars to name-drop and impress other gear-queers, an Ibanez Gio isn't going to do it. If you want a reasonably priced guitar that plays like a much, much more expensive guitar, this is definitely the best bet.

Ibanez GSA60
Mine was bought as a christmas present in 2002.
I have been playing guitar for 23 years and have owned many guitars. Some of the best some of the worst.
This one has a jewel blue finish. It has a strat style tremelo which is basically locked down. It stays in tune better. I dont even use the tremelo. It has 1 double coil pickup at the bridge and 2 single coils at the mid and neck positions. It also has a 5 way selctor switch and 1 volume and 1 tone nob. Very basic guitar. Im not sure what the body is made of, but am pretty sure its not plywood. The neck is rosewood and has 22 frets. The cool thing about this guitar is it has a contour top which I have never seen on another GSA60. Very comfortable fit. Im sure this guitar was made in 2002. It was made in Indonesia. Overall it is a very solid guitar and I still own it to this day. It still looks brand new after 4 years of playing out. I keep pretty good care of it though. Sentimental value.
Sound
:9
I play mostly metal, blues, and rock, but also I am in a praise band at my church.
For the metal stuff, The double coil is very hot and can get as much crunch as you want. As far as the clean sounds, the fourth setting on the selector switch to me gets the best sound. It sounds very bluesy with vey minimal distortion, and with no distortion gets an awesome full clean sound.
I used to use it with a Crate amp, and it sounded horrible. Needless to say I got rid of the Crate amp. I did some research and found out that some of my favorite guitar players would play through a bass amp. So guess what I tried? Yup I play through a bass amp. I have a Berringher ultrabass 180 watt amp with an alluminum cone. I use a Boss chorus ensemble, a Boss turbo distortion, a Boss digital delay(DD-6), and a Boss V-Wah. I have spent the last 2 years trying to get the best sound for that guitar, and with these pedals and the right settings, I can play any style I need, to to fit my musical tastes. I refuse to play country so I dont know how this guitar will hold up in the country world.
I will say the pickups are a little noisy on the 1st and 5th settings on the selector switch. It gets some undesirable humming noise, so when Im not playing in between songs, I have to shut the volume off. It was like that right out of the box.
I have recorded on a CD with this guitar, and we used that guitar to play leads instead of my buddies $800.00 carvin guitar on some songs. You can tell on the CD which leads were played with my Ibanez. Way cleaner and clearer sound. We used all the same settings in the studio for both guitars.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
The action on the guitar was pretty good right out of the box. I have never messed with the action ever. I can pull pinch harmonics or false harmonics very easily with it. My buddy that plays metal with an american tele. Played my guitar and couldnt believe how well it played. And when I told him what the price was, he was floored.
Like I said, the bridge is locked down and I dont use the tremelo. It stays in tune that way. I had to raise the double coil to get more crunch and sustain, but it now gets more feedback then I like. The volume nob is getting loose and noisy from constantly turning it down to kill that unwanted humming noise. There were no flaws on the guitar, but the little plastic handle on the selector switch has always fallen off. I suppose I should glue it.
Reliability/Durability
:10
Overall this guitar has been very reliable. I play out once a week, and this has been my only guitar for 4 years. It has never let me down. I play pretty hard and it has stood the test for me. I hardly ever break a string, so to me the saddles and nut must be set up properly. The strap buttons have never come loose and the hardware has always stayed tight. I never have used a backup with this guitar. The finish still looks brand new.

I also own an Ibanez bass, but only bought that because of how impressed I was with this guitar. I also own a Washburn acoustic but its a cheapo.
I love how reliable this guitar has been, but HATE THAT HUMMING NOISE!!!
I have compared this guitar with a Fender Telecaster,a Carvin, and a Fender strat. All expensive guitars. I will say I wouldnt trade this guitar for any of them.( maybe the tele ).
If this guitar were stolen, I would have to hunt down the individual who stole it and make him pay. That is more because of the sentimental value though. I used to play on a Jackson and I think this guitar is very comparable. Pretty much the same. Its pretty much a basic beginners guitar but still has that quality feel to it. Nothing special or unique.

22 frets, H/H pickups with volume/tone/3-way p/u selector. I strongly recommend finding one of these with 2 humbuckers and no single-coils. The singles don't sound very good (though that is always subjective.) The tuners "catch" a lot, the tremolo needed to be locked down. I am rating this compared to an advanced player's guitar. For the beginner I would give this a 10. It is an excellent guitar to start on and learn about.
Sound
:7
I play mostly classic rock with a little blues and little metallica thrown in there. Peavey classic 30 amp. This guitar has a beautifully rich, full sound- especially clean. I repeat: THE CLEAN SOUND OF THIS GUITAR IS INCREDIBLE, ESPECIALLY WITH A TUBE AMP!!! I love this guitar's versatility. Mostly clean amp with an overdrive pedel used mostly as a boost, and this baby can get close to Stevie Ray Vaughn. Throw in one of those hellacious Boss Metal Zone pedals and you've got something close to Metallica. I have also had no problems getting close to Guns-n-Roses, Zeppelin, and AC/DC sounds with this guitar. This is a spectacular beginner's guitar because you can approximate so many sounds. It doesn't absolutely peg any one of them, but can get damn close to them all with a little bit of tinkering. Sustain isn't wonderful, so if you have weak hammer-on/pull-off technique it won't be too pretty. Just practice...
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
If this is a beginner's guitar, it doesn't really matter how everything is set up. You have to learn what you like, and how to tweak your own guitar. I lowered the action a little, raised the pickups a little, and adjusted the saddles to get the intonation where it should be. Also, I had the bridge pinned down to the body of the guitar because it did not stay in tune with the bridge "floating." Finish is great. Even if you don't clean it up for several months, it looks beautiful when given a little attention.

The strap buttons come loose once in a blue moon, just tighen them. It seems like this thing will last forever. As I get better I will probably keep this guitar and use it as a backup.

I have been playing for about 4 years. I have a Peavey classic 30 amp (which I love), and Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive(which I love), a Vox Wah (which I love), a Boss DD-6 Delay (love it too), and a Boss Metal Zone that is falling out of favor. Would I replace it if it was stolen or lost? probably just for $%^& and giggles- it is a great product for the price (i.e. it's really cheap, but plays well). I love how versatile it is as a beninner/intermediate guitar, I love the attention to quality Ibanez gives. When I was shopping for my first guitar, I compared it to a Mexican Strat and a Epiphone Les Paul knock off. The strat had no balls compared to this thing (difference between single and humbucking pickups). This guitar sits somewhere in between both of those. I loved its tone through the tube amp. As a first guitar, this gets a 10++.

This guitar is somewhat versitile in that it doesn't do any one sound particularly well. However, this is a beginner's guitar, bottom line. For that purpose, it works really well.
I bought this as my first electric...and I loved it. It really is the perfect guitar for a beginner. The price is so reasonable that there's no reason not to buy it when you're just starting out. However, there are plenty of drawbacks that experience in playing and listening will bring to light. The first problem is that the pickups. The humbucker has a bright sound that can get pretty warm, but it takes a lot tweaking to take away the muddiness. The single-coil pickups are basically useless, as the tones are uncharacteristic and unresponsive with very little sustain. The overall sustain is average, and after letting a note ring out for a while, the tone is lost. This, however, should not be a problem for a beginner; but if it is, you can easily get the pickups switched.
The next problem: the tremolo bridge is useless, and hinders the guitar more than it helps. I used it for the first week, but the slightest touch of the whammy bar sends the guitar flying out of tune...I don't even know where the whammy bar is anymore. Then, God forbid you change tunings, or the bridge gets thrown out of whack, throwing the action off, loosening the neck and causing a lot of fret buzz as well. As my ear and feel for playing developed, I realized all these things and I took it into a shop to get it adjusted for thicker strings, tighten the neck, and the bridge locked down. This helped tremendously for keeping it in tune (bottom line: Get the bridge locked down and you won't have a problem). That is out of the way...let me tell you that this is a good guitar. The problems I described above are quite ordinary. I can't imagine more quality for the price. If you're looking for your second or third guitar, this isn't the choice for you. But there's tons of quality here.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar set up was decent, but I had to take it into a shop to get it fully adjusted for it to play really well. The pickup arrangment can be slightly annoying, because with the action set a good height, the pick hits the middle pickup when playing in proper strumming position.
The guitar, however, is really comfortable to play on and the neck is nice and sleek and fast. Good for learning on, and even for intermediate use.

Overall, this is a beginner's guitar and to that end, it works great. I loved this guitar; it was my first electric. The sound isn't amazing, and can be quite uncharacteristic. Only two of the pickup selection positions are even useful (bridge humbucker and one up), and still take a lot of tweaking to get a good, full sound from it.
For the money, though, you get what you pay for and a lot more. Plenty of enjoyment and good durability and decent sounds, all for only 200 dollars. Not a bad deal at all. If you're in the market for your first guitar, don't look anywhere else.

My GSA 60 was made in 2002 in Indonesia. It has 22 frets, laminated top, with one tone and one volume control and a 5 way selector switch. It has an Ibanez Powersound humbucker at the bridge and two Ibanez Powersound single coil pickups. Body is made of Alder, neckl is maple. Has a high gloss black metallic finish that is beautiful. Body style is a stratocaster style with the typical strat string through body and a standard tremelo system. Tuners are sealed, locking type tuners and they work great. The neck is the typical Ibanez thin neck with medium frets. It didn't come with any accessories because I bought it off of ebay, but I purchased a super nice Ibanez gig bag with it that even has a removeable back pack on it!! Great guitar for the bucks.

Like most Americans living in the Philippines, I'm a retired military person, married to a Filipina, so I am quite a bit older than most of the people who review on Harmony Central. I was a teenager during the late 60's and early 70's and still like the music from that era. I write some of my own stuff, which would probably be considered somewhere between blues, rockabilly, electric folk and classic rock, but I love old Cream, Blind Faith, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Stones, Beatles, you know the music of my era. I do like some of the 90's grunge rock, such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Creed and some punk stuff like Greenday. Handles all the music styles I play very well and I love the H-S-S configuration. The only amps I've use it on at home are my Marshall MG10CD, VOX Pathfinder 15R and VOX AD15VT (these are the amps most Americans here have, because these brands are all that are available here for the most part. You can get Peaveys but they are made in China and suck). This guitar sounds best on the VOX AD15VT at home. It sounds great on all three amps. It is a versatile guitar by all means, much more versatile than the humbucker versions of the Les Paul in my opinion. This is an excellent guitar sound wise and I have no trouble maxing it out in this department.

I have this guitar, the amps I mentioned above, a Fender made in Mexico Standard Fat Stratocaster, which I put a Duncan Invader humbucker at the bridge, and Vintage Noiseless Pickups at the middle and neck positions Pickups on, a Fender 52 Telecaster, stock, an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, a Squier Standard Stratocaster with Texas Special Pickups, a Squier Standard Telecaster, which I bought because I wanted a Vintage Blonde Telecaster with a Rosewood Fretboard, which I have put Vintage Noiseless Pickups on, an Ibanez GSA20, and RG350, Rockstar Strat, Tele and Les Paul Copies and a Fernando Strat Copy. Like the last reviewer, I also have a Washburn X-21, which is inexpensive but a fuckin good guitar. I've got two Epiphone Acoustic Guitars, one Ibanez Acoustic Electric Guitar, a Washburn Acoustic and a bunch more. I'm addicted to collecting them, and sometimes it's a waste because most of them don't get played. I really love this guitar. Overall it's an 9.

This guitar suits metal pretty well, at least the humbucker does
I use an Ibanez ToneBlaster 25R with it and with this amps overdrive, all hardcore fits in perfectly, too bad for the single coils. When you switch to a clean tone, the humbucker really gives a to agressive impression, so you chose to switch to a single, but then they sound less loud and rather sharp...
The good thing is you can't hear noise or any bad fuzz of the guitar in non-action.

Well, the guitar came in perfectly good state, no flaws in the production, though there is a little twist in the wood of the neck, but it's smoothly polished and you don't notice it.
The neck feels very soft, but at first you can't slide over it well, but after a while this smoothens up. (probably sweat that does the job? :-)

If you don't do crazy stuff with this guitar, I guess it will last some time.
The shining polish contains sort of scratches after a while, and if you touch the guitar (with clean hands or dirty) you always see the spots, thanks to the black finish I have.
If you use this guitar live and a string breaks, you're screwed for the song. The bridge looses some tension and the whole guitar gets tuned completely wrong!!! (I don't really know if this is normal with a bridge with tremolo, maybe let me know)

I play everything from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Metallica and it all suits very well. I play it through a TubeScreamer and a Peavey Rage 158. The guitar is intonated in the local shops and plays now teriffic. Only my Fender plays better. It sounds very good. Especially the bridge humbucker. The sound is full and heavy. Perfect for all kinds of Metal. The Single Coils suits for the clean parts or the blues parts.

A very nice guitar to start your carrier with. But it has te be replaced after 2 a 3 years. Because of the frets and the pickups. You would like a smoother kind of sound.

I got mine just like everone else's on this page. nothing special. My guitar is in Jewel Blue and looks REALLY cool. Finish is perfect. I didnt like the chrome volume knobs it came with and decided to replace them, but when i pulled the vone knob off, the shaft of the pot ( the thing that attaches to the knob ) came with it! i had to buy another one.

I play pretty much anything, mostly punk, grunge and metal. The amp that i use the gsa60 with is the fender frontman 15r (need to upgrade that =P), and they sound pretty decent together. The guitar isn't too noisy either.
Pickups will probably have to get swapped for Dimarzios sometime in the future.

The nut that came with my guitar was horrible! Fret-buzzing like crazy, action was too high. I assume it's a cheapo plastic nut, because every time i used the tremolo, it would go out of tune. (not even my old squier did that.) After 2 weeks, I couldnt bear it any longer, I bought a Graphtech Tremnut for it, installed it, popped in 5 springs in the back, tada, perfect. I suggest this to all gsa60 owners who have tremolo related tuning issues.
Pickups were adjusted fine, but i lowered the humbucker a little to compensate for the higher output.
The paintjob is fantastic! Glossy, super-shiny, you can see your reflection in it! I've knocked it around abit and still not a scratch. Usual pickmarks but thats inevitable.

The standard strap buttons seem pretty solid, but I wouldn't gig without Dunlop Straploks. I recommend these over the Schaller variety too.
The bridge seems to be holding up, the tuners (most likely Gotohs) keep in tune, and the electronics are pretty darn good. My old squier had much noiser pots and a loose switch. This one on the gsa60 feels very solid.
The finish will definitely last.
Dependable, Giggable, but it'd be stupid to play without a backup.

I haven't been playing long, upgraded to this from a squier. I know the gsa60 is still classified as a beginner model, but with a few upgrades, a few tweaks and it's definitely a keeper.
If it got pinched, I'd bash the thief. And then buy an RG. Maybe a LTD.
I <3 the sexy finish, the chrome hardware, the feel of the neck.
Great bang for buck too. Recommended.

The two single coils provide for a good clean tone, but they arent my favorite singles. The humbucker just seems to sound better the lower you downtune. Strangely enough I really like this stock hum, it has clarity and never fuzzes over.

The factory set this baby up pretty nicely. It actually came in tune right out of the box. Of coarse, youll have to do some adjusting to your own needs. All the hardware is nicely installed, and feels solid. The tuners are OK, and I locked up the trem as a fixed bridge because it got annoying and went out of tune too much.

This guitar would definatly withstand live playing but it would be stupid not to use a backup. For tuning issues, get locking tuners, and thats it. Finish is strong, but i scratched it up. Solid instrument.

very very amazing clean sound with switch on top pickup. distortion sucks so get a new humbucker somthing real nice if you want a cool distortion. or go with a big muff pi pedal or somthing. but if you want an amazing clean guitar go with this.

the finish i had was a silver scratch proof coating. its really nice. but if your a sweaty bastard like me it will get sticky so watch out. the action on mine was high but i didnt lower it it made me solo faster on guitars with lower action. dont ever try to put a whammy bar on this sucker cuz it will go out of tune in a second. but besides using the whammy bar this thing stays in tune really well. the strap buttons on mine always come loose. this guitar is really light. so you can move around alot. and the neck is for people with big ass hands like mine.

The humbucker on this thing is it's strong point. It doesn't compare to my '89 Gibson Les Paul, but it held its own for a while. The single-coils are weak, though, and don't distort well at all. Needless to say, they have nothing on my '84 American Strat's. If the single coils were as strong and distorted as nicely as the humbucker, it would be far more well-rounded. Beyond that, the single coils hum. Humming singles is one of those things that comes with the pickup, but these are worse than most. If they had more guts to them, they could pull off some nice tones, but they're too weak and too noisy to be bothered with. I've played it through my Marshall, a Crate, and a couple of Fenders & other Marshalls with the same effect. For its price, it is better than most beginner guitars, but it doesn't have much use beyond that.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
The action came and still is decent enough. It hasn't needed a truss rod adjustment at all which is especially remarkable because of the humid conditions it was sometimes left in. The pickups were set up properly with the right distance from the strings but, as stated earlier, position can't help weak pickups from sounding weak. The folks at Ibanez, even overseas, send their guitars in great condition from my experience.
Reliability/Durability
:5
The strap buttons have caused some chagrin towards Ibanez. After the guitar suffered two short-distance falls to the ground, I took it upon myself to use a buffer between the screw and the wood. Since then, the buttons haven't come loose. The tuning keys aren't the greatest when coupled with the trem, so a dive bomb or even a quaver may knock a string or two out of tune, which is bothersome. Also, the volume and tone knobs are easily removed and I had to glue mine in place. A violent sneeze knocks them loose and, even with their small size and mass, they are a bit painful if they fall on an exposed toe.
If you want to ignore what's important and focus on aesthetics, the paint is on solid. I don't play very hard unless I'm doing "Everlong," but I played with metal picks for a while and they only scratched the finish. It got a good run for its money and was passed along like the town whore between myself and bandmates and there's not a spot on the body that shows the bare wood.
As for gigging without a backup, I have no reason to gig with it anymore. When I did gig with it, it was reliable enough after securing the strap buttons and control knobs to go through the set.

I've been playing a couple of years and have amassed a Gibson LP, an American Strat, a Martin acoustic, a Kawal acoustic, a Marshall, and a dozen or so effects pedals. I only recently have decided to get rid of this guitar because it's just collecting dust. It suited its purpose as a beginner guitar and works very well as such. The weak single coils, the hardware issues, and the tuning instability keep it at the beginner level, though. The humbucker is what you'll probably use and it's excellent for its price.
Bottom Line: If you're looking for a decent beginner guitar for someone just starting out, have a ball. It'll hold its own for a while. It won't put you out too much on cost and it probably won't crap out on you unless you're abusive with it. It's all about the Golden Rule. If you're looking for anything intermediate or above, get a higher end Ibanez or a Jackson or a Fender or a Gibson or something.

My GSA60 was made in 2003 in Indonesia. It has 22 medium sized frets. It has one volume and one tone control and a five way selector. It has two single oils and one humbucker. The bodystyle is agathis. The bridge is like a cheap tremolo effect and if you use it, your strings will be detuned.

It suits my style very good. I play metal music. I use a Peavey Studio Pro 112 amp and a Boss Metal Zone pedal. It is very quiet. It gives off a good sound. It cant give off that many sounds to it but it satisfies me.

I've been playing for about 2 years and this guitar is my favorite. People say its a beginner guitar and I think otherwise. Its a great guitar. I also own a Ibanez GRX720 (7 string). Before buying this, I wish I had a cabinet amp to go with it. I would definitely purchase it again if it were lost. I love the way it plays and the way it looks. I hate the bridge on it and the cheap tremolo. I compared it to other Ibanez's and this one suited me best. I wish it had a way better bridge and two humbuckers.

I bought my Ibanez GSA60 in 2002. It has 22 medium frets on a rosewood fretboard with pearl dot inlays. The body is made of agathis, a cousin of mahogany, which provides decent sustain. The pickups are 2 powersound single coils and a powersound humbucker in an SSH config. The bridge is a standard trem and the tuners are non-locking w/ no locking nut. It's basically an Ibanez fat strat copy.
Sound
:6
I play blues, classic rock, and modern rock(not nu-metal). This guitar suits fairly well to these styles. I'm running it through a Roland Cube30, and can get some decent distorted sounds using the bridge humbucker. But this guitar really preforms best clean. Using the neck or neck and middle pickups I can get some really crisp cleans out of it. If I roll the tone knob back I can even get some mellow jazzy tones. The guitar isn't that noisy, but there is a slight hum which gets annoying, especially when recording.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
The setup on this guitar was decent. The action was low and it came w/ a set of 9's. You might have to play w/ the pickups to get the high end to really shine through, but that can be fixed w/ a screwdriver, so no worries there. I've poked around in the trem cavity and electronics, and everything seems to be in order. But the cavities weren't very clean. I did have a problem w/ the saddles. My high e string kept breaking, and I found that it was because of a small metal barb on my high e saddle. The problem could be fixed by sanding it down, but I opted to buy some Graph Tech String Saver Saddles instead. If you play heavy string sets(over 10s)then you will need to pick up some more trem springs, as only two are installed. Other than that, its pretty solid.
Reliability/Durability

Very durable. I've practiced and jammed w/ this guitar and it can stand up to being dropped, hitting walls, and all of the other everyday accidents. The finish is pretty good and isn't wearing off. The strap buttons have never had problems either. I think that I could depend on it to gig, but definetely wouldn't go w/o a backup.

Read other reviews for this, but the thing I have to say is the best about this guitar is that you can find the pickup you need for whatever style or song you are playing. The different pickups vary the sound greatly, and the switching system really has been a bonus.
I love the combination of the RG models and the S series. If you're an Ibanez freak like myself, you can appreciate this. With the slender, aerodynamic neck, you can play fast with no problem. But its more comfortable than the S series model with a thicker body and the standard flat back. This combination in itself makes it the ultimate guitar at its price.
Sound
:10
The sounds, like I said, vary greatly depending on which pickup is used. I usually get a great sound from the humbucker for things like Staind, Deftones, Taproot, and Mudvayne. It has a fuller tone on the humbuckers than the neck, which is great when you want some heavy distortion. With certain settings on my clean pedal, you can get nearly an acoustic simulator with twangy tone on the neck pickup, which is really cool when you want to bust out some acoustic jazz or something. You can play almost everything with this guitar, each with its advantages.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
No complaints here. I got mine in blue, it also comes in black. the place from where I purchased it also offered a custom finish in red or green, but I didn't feel like paying the extra money.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar withstands a lot. I mean, I have dropped it, banged it against the wall, and it has fallen off my guitar stand. It still stands up to this abuse, and still sounds great. I have used it for tons of live gigs, especially when I was first starting in my band.

I own four guitars now, this was my first one, and I still use it for certain songs, because of its ability to play such varied styles. My favorite feature about the guitar would have to be the variety of sounds through pickup switching and its ability to sound great on a heavy distortion, without having problems with clarity, ect.
Also, as described before, the combination of RG series and S series makes it the ideal guitar if you're not satisfied with one. The aerodynamic neck makes it a great play, and the nice body makes it comfortable. Great price, great guitar.
