The Best Feature to me is the angled neck plate. It allows easy access to all of the frets. The coil taps and HPF are usefull as hell (more on this later). I lso like the fact that you DO NOT have to cut the ball off of the string ends! The trem unit is first rate. Also the prestige neck is just right for players with smaller hands like mine. And the black hardware is just first rate.

Sound : 10
Firstly let me say I am not a Satch fan at all, heard that song back in the 80's, it was cool but not enough to get me to buy the album. So the "model" had no effect on my decision. I picked it off the rack at guitar center while I was waiting on someone. Hit a note on a spider and thought OMG this thing has massive sustain. I am a working pro and needed a guitar that I could use for a variety of situations. I want to clarify what the guy who must not know dick about guitar sound said. He gave it what a 5? wow. I use all tube Marshalls, combos and stacks. And I can get any sound I need from 50's through today. And if you pull both knobs it sounds better than my pre cbs thwin ever did or could and that goes for the other 5 fenders I have owned. For those who said it won't do metal? I put it up against two Seans one was a Razorback and this thing has more gain and way better tone, not even in the same league. I would be lying if I said money didn't facor but it is a working ax and I don't want to destroy a 3k guitar on stage. But before I paid for it I tried a few Prs, Gibsons, and Even a Jackson or three. Hands down this thing was more versitile and better playing and sounding.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Two Things Here, One Good One Bad. The one I bought off the rack had a couple minor cosmetic flaws and the nice guys at Guitar Center Columbus, (shout out to ya!), ordered me in a new on in the box. Ok The Bad News. The new one while flwless in finish needed a lot of adjustment and still had a dead spot. So I returned it for my old one. But as others have said the knobs/Pots seem sketchy, loose but not loose. Wierd and hard to describe, I am getting used to it. When you put pressure on them they are smooth though. But the neck is amazing. You know a lot of people I know have a saying or a process when it comes to buying public guitars. I say 1 out of every 60 is playable some of my freinds put that number at 1-160. But they don't have a rack of these either. All I can say is thing plays better than ANY thing I have owned ever in over 30 years, perfectly intonated and pure sustain at every position on every note. Like someone else pointed out you can see the joint in the back. But hey You can spen 4k on a PRS that is AA and not book matched. Well I rest my case.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This an't a battle ax like a Paul but if you realize this it last like any other, yeah?

Customer Support : 10
They have a forum which is cool.

Been playing for thirty years, and have had a lot of stuff over that time. Lately I have settled in on Marshalls and Eventides. I do a lot of live and studio work. If it were lost I would be on a world wide search to find one just like it. As I said before, before I paid for it I spent a couple trying out other brands and models. My strat And PRS are about to onto ebay. Well crap I got someone in my ear that is not going to go away. Buy one and have it set up by a pro, and raise the pups a little.

I play classic rock with a mix of some 90s stuff but mostly the 70's and 60's loud concert stuff like Jethro Tull and Deep Purple and Cream. Im using a JSX half Stack right now but Im still trying real hard to like it. i didnt want to be a total Satch Head by buying all his gear. It just happened to be the best sounding amp i tested.
Pretty good sounding guitar overall. Not the heavy-metal monster you would think. The coil taps are cool but they suck the life right out of the volume. I corrected that quickly by kicking on my Fulltone Fatboost to level it out and that worked well. I have a 50th anniv Strat and an old PRS. It sounds better than the PRS but the Strat has better tone on the neck pickup. I tried my friends 58 custom shop les paul reissue and that guitar blew all three of thes away, as well it should have seeing that it cost almost 4000 dollars.
My biggest complaint is the hi pass filter. Its activated with a push-pull pot on the volume. In the up position the whammy bar hits the knob if you swing it side to side. I think its a some pretty crappy design work for a 1400 dollar list guitar. Also the setup was not very good but I dont usually complain about that because everyone's idea of what is good depends on taste and style anyway.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
As i said, the setup is not too good but I will fix that (if I decide to keep the guitar)
The Black Pearl finish has a goth metal vibe to it that I dont really care for but I hated the red JS1000 and the White ones are impossible to find new anymore. They have a new silver one coming out and i didnt care for that either. There are no real cosmetic issues with the guitar that I can see.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Who knows for sure how the finish will on the hardware and paint hold up with heavy gigging. My guess is that the black will wear off the bridge pretty quickly but that would be pretty normal for most guitars.
I wouldnt feel comfortable using this guitar alone on a gig without backup only because of the locking tremolo. It would take too long to change strings if one broke on you during the set.

Customer Support : 6
Have not tried them yet but I plan to level a complaint about the whammy bar hitting the volume know. Piss poor design for a 1400 dollar guitar. Gonna email Joe about it too!!

Overall Rating : 6
been playing for 30 years plus.
Wish I had known about the hi-pass filter not being on all the time.
I dont think right now that I would replace this if it got stolen.
I love the fast neck and its super light and comfortable. Mostly I choose this trying to get a bigger hard 60's 70'd rock sound thsan my strat will give me and also because i use and need the whammy bar. The Les Paul blew it away tone wise but no whammy.

Burnt transparent blue finish; bought Feb 2007 from GAK.com in the UK.

I'm a fan of Joe's tone and bought this guitar for it's sonic versatility; I play anything from blues to neo classical, as well as all sorts inbetween. I risked buying this instrument online without having touched one in the wood which was quite stupid really baring in mind that I knew the neck/fretboard was pretty bespoke to Joe's prefs; The board has a highly tapered radius which likely wont suit a lot of players and the neck is thin and quite flat in profile and has an 'unfinished' feel (ie, smooth but not laquered/varnished). The fretwire used is quite narrow stuff.

The body is wonderfully light-weight and is contoured beautifully and the brb finish was flawless on my example and gives the guitar a visual depth when viewed closely.

The overall impression is of a compact, well made versatile workhorse.

Sound : 9
Sonically the guitar is fabulous. I am not a gigging musician really, more of a recording musician; I often play the JS1000 un-plugged and by comparison to my 72 Strat it has a thinner brighter sound (which is expected due to the sculpted basswood) but still has wonderful tone and ringing sustain. By comparison the strat has a deeper more resonant bell-tone; The JS1000 is brighter.

Plugged through a Marshal JMP-1 tube pre-amp the versatility in the wiring and pups come into thier own; The JS1000 wants to be plugged in, whereas the Strat is more than happy unplugged.

The variety of tone available through the pups and wiring make this instrument such a great all round blues/rock guitar; The pups want to sing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Generally the fit and finish is very good; My instrument arriveed in pristine condition without any obvious issues.

The action was set quite high (not overly high but I expected it lower) and there was very slight buzz on the lower strings from around the 5th-9th fret; The floyd in standard tuning with factory setup wasnt flush with the body, it was tail high; No complaints though really as this is to be expected; especially with a bolt-on neck instrument with a factory set-up; Nothing a good technician/luthier cant sort out and anyone who buys a mail order instrument should expect to do this anyway.

Genarally the overall workmanship and quality is very high.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Cant comment really; only had the guitar for 10 months now and it hasnt seen any gigging action and is generally looked after as though was fine china.

This is daft in a way; I bought this guitar so I could have something to throw about a bit and not care so much if it got marked etc; Unlike my 72 strat which I want to look after these days as they are becoming sought after now (but which I refuse to stop playing also because it's such a nice players instrument and wants to be played).

I expect the JS1000 will last well as it's very well made, good materials and well crafted.

Not needed them thus far

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for around 20 years on and off; Some classical training early on; Segovia got me hooked when I saw him on TV as a youngster.

I wish I had tried before buying the JS1000; purely for the curvature of the fretboard. It took my picking hand quite some time to adjust to the curvature of the strings at the bridge, which is quite extreme by comparison to my 72 strat and a massive departure from the almost flat fretboard of my old Kramer Stagemaster.

If I'm totally honest I still dont think I've fully come to terms with the high curvature with my pickhand and it may well be that I never will fully but I have learned to cope and will hopefully fully adjust in the course of time.

If I lost this guitar I would probably replace it with another JS1000; The guitar has so much to offer and my issue with board radius is something I am prepared to live with because of the guitars outstanding qualities.

I love the compact, form follows function, feel and versatility of the guitar; this guitar will do anything almost. A lot of guitars do one thing well, the JS1000 is an all rounder in every respect.

I looked at other mid to high end guitars when shopping around. I wanted a Floyd for sonic jollies, I wanted versatility (tonally). The JS1000 ticked all the right boxes; my only bugbear was that I couldnt find one locally to try and so chanced the purchase online after much reading (such as this fine website).

I would recommend that anyone looking at buying one really needs to try one first; mostly for the feel of the fretboard above anything else.

Well i'm sure others have written enough about the basics. Mine is born in 2000. It's a BTB. Everything is original.

Sound : 10
Ok here's the important section. THE SOUND of this guitar is just breathtaking if you like to play solos or melodic lines. It's a very bright and full sound. The expression is just outstanding you can form the tone to the shape you want. I was always in search for this sweet and living tone. For rhythm it's great as well. It does not have this kind of edgy sounds like Strats or LP's but it round and with the push/pull options very versatile. It's not an extrem metal guitar. There are others like the RG's or a good Jackson. But if you need a guitar for many sound sphere's go for it. Clean is very, very beautyful, especially with some good effects. The pick ups are very strong. IMO a very friendly guitar, but if you want to scream go for it's ver easy to get really special tones out of it.
I own or had quiet few guitars. Gbison LP Studio, American Fender Strat(tuned), Flying Rocket, JPM, RG 550, FGM 400(all Ibanez), PRS CE 24
For lines and solos it's my first choice, without thinking to take another one. That's just it for me!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought it from ebay. The fretboard is not anymore like how it should be, that's why i'm gonna to change it. But the rest, as always by good Ibanez, perfectly

Reliability/Durability : 10
There's nothing i have to worry about.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had anything to do with them

I'm playing for 18 years. Well that's my babe. There are not many guitars i've played (friends, stores) that give me this tonal reflection. Probably a PRS Santana. But it's just a very expensive guitar. Even a JEM is not as strong IMO in single tones.
I'm a gear junkie. Have really good equipment. But the best on this guitar is. Just take an amp, plug in and play. Other goodand expensive guitars sound just good if you have a great amp. JS don't need that. It's the tone of the guitar that counts IMO.

Japan 2004, BTB Color.
You know the rest.

Sustain is longer than eternity.
Dunno how ibanez managed to make a guitar with such a long sustain from such a light-weighted guitar.

DiMarzio Paf pro neck position is probably the best neck pickup I have ever heard. Is seems like it was made for this guitar.
Add the split ability and you have a ton of heavenly sounds.

DiMarzio Fred on bridge position is a good balanced, midium output pickup.
You can play almost any music with this axe, as with most ibanez guiars. I wouldn't suggest this guitar to a metalhead though, unless he/she plans to change the bridge pickup with a higher output one.
I like EVERYTHING on this guitar. Best on my collection.
I play through various equipment, cannot mention it here.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Setup factory was pretty poor. I made my own setup, I stopped visiting guitar technicians 10 years ago. I had previous experience with an edge pro bar, which is the only thing you may need assistance for.
The electronics were simply perfect. No mess up, no cold solderings or poor wirings. Everything was wired properly.
No flaws on finish, standard fretwire (I like thin frets, I hate large or jumbo frets). Volume control is EXCELLENT. Probably the best around. It does exactly what a vol control should do. Lower the volume without affecting the tone. PERFECT
Wood is basswood, so you can expect a balanced tone, which is an advantage if you plan to change a pickup. Mahogany, for example, is wood that tends to tremble the sound, alder tends to add bass. Basswood is well-balanced.

5 for factory setup, 10 for action/fit/finish

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Don't know yet. Have it for a year, but judging from the construction and the electronics should last a couple of lifetimes.

Customer Support : 7
Haven't dealt for this guitar, but have dealt with my old JEM and I was satisfied.

Overall Rating : 10
've been playing for 15 years. Let me tell you this...
This is a top end all-around guitar. If you are looking for a rock guitar you should probably look for a gib. If you are looking for a metal guitar you should probably look for other Ibanez or Jackson guitars. If you want the best all-around guitar that modern guitar commerce can offer, get this axe.
Best neck pickup ever had my ears hear.
Best neck I have ever put my hands on.
Man , I LOVE this neck. It's not as flat as a LesPaul, the radius is smaller, but once you get used to it, you simply can't do without it.
I tried a couple of other ibanez guitars first (was going to buy a new JEM). Then I saw this JS. I always thought that signature models suck, cause you pay for the artist's name on it (JEMs were and are an exception too). I decided to give it a try. I simply grabbed it, and ... CLICK. Couldn't get my fingers of. Bought it and run home. Played for 1 hour. Changed strings, made setup adjustments and played again for 6 hours.

I won't go on with the features. See many below. Besides I have no idea what jumbo Warnoff threats are anyway. Mine came with usual tools and hard case.

Sound : 8
OK this is probably sacrolidge round these here parts. But I don't actually like Joe Satriani's music very much. Leaves me cold I'm afraid. I admire his technical ability and tallent though. And the reason I bought this guitar is because I really like the tone of the Dimarsios on this axe and the amazing versatility the thing gives you. I mean this high pass filter type thing it has. Well I don't know of any other guitars that have this. But this is an excelent feature. On my Marshall VS100r combo, I use the OD channel 1 with gain at 10. You can obviously get a good classic rock sound using the bridge PU (Dimarsio Fred). But with the high pass engaged roll the volume right back and get an almost clean sound, just breaking up. Marveless. Audible clear clean tone, to rock all controlled from your guitar. And thrown in the combinations you get with the coil split feature. Another really nice sound I like is the same amp setting but coil split and using neck pick up with the volume rolled back to about a third from silent. Really nice bluesy jazzy sort of tone for leads. Not quite a strat sound. but that's why I've got a strat as well. But very close and very nice in it's own right.

I play anything from surfy type big reverbe stuff, through to chunky riffy metal. Playing through a Marshall Valvestate 100r, with Carl Martin compressor / limiter in the loop with Electro Harmonix Holier Grail reverbe.
When recording on PC, straight into mixer through Marshall JMP1 with compressor in loop. Or a Johnson J Station amp moddeler.

If there's one thing I'd say this guitar is not quite there for. It's heavy grinding palm muted metal riffs. The bridge pickup isn't quite hot enough for that. But when I want to play that stuff I use my RG with stock Ibanez pickups. in that respect, I'd say the RG's bridge pickup screams where the Dimarsio Fred sings. Do the old hammer on and pull off stuff, give the string a bit of vibrato and listen to those harmonix. Sweet. I give this cattagory 8 due to it not being up to full on metal. Not to my ear anyway. However, I doubt there is a pickup that can do that stuff and still pull off all the other tones this combination can.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This ones black. I got some money off mine due to a piece of missing lacker on the heal. However, the guitar apart from that is beutiful. Really light and slim, no harsh edges. A pleasure to play. I've been playing 11 years and owned this about 9 months. I felt like a way better guitarist once playing this because you can just get such a range of sound out of it. The strings glide nicely over the thret board and you can bend them with such ease. Can't do that on either of my other 2 guitars.

Only one problem in this area. I suspect it's my fault for not properly stretching the strings. But over use of the tremelo does tend to make the G,B and high E go out. I have to pull the bar back the other way slightly to get them back.

I'll give this a 8. not taking points of for the lacker as anything can happen between factory and customer. I'll leave 2 point head room for perfection. Which probably doesn't exist.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I'm not sure how hard the finish is, thinking of that chip again. Never scuffed or damaged it myself though. Crome hardware I think. Should stand up. Wouldn't leave it on a beach for too long though and I don't chuck my guitars around. SO it should last. I'm tempted to put it back in it's hard case after playing it at home, but I play it so often it's a pain to keep getting the thing down from the wardrobe. So it stays out on a stand in the corner hopefully out of harms way.

Would I use it live. Yeah no probs. Would I take a back up. Well if someone has a spare 1200 quid, then yeah they can buy me a back up. Blue please. I can't afford to take back ups of anything in this price range. I would say I'd take my RG as back up due to it having a locking trem system, but it would be pointless as it sounds nothing like this one.

Customer Support : 7
I emailed an Ibanez dealer in the UK who were helpful regarding some replacement springs for the saddles. Never dealt with Ibanez direct. the dealer was, Nervarda music in Portsmouth.

Overall Rating : 9
If the guitar was lost I'd have to have some serious words with myself. If it were stolen. I would find the unfortunate culprate and gentily explain the error of his ways. Before bludgening him to death with a Jim Dunlop Cry a baby.

My JS1000BTB is made in Japan with the serial no. start with 05 means 2005. It is a Team J.Craft limited guitar!. This guitar came with an Ibanez hardcase with Team J.Craft logo with it. Inside only have the JS1000 guitar, tremolo, allen Key and an instruction book of Ibanez.

Sound : 10
I am a guitarist for almost 4 years but i had tons of experience in sound due to (GIT) and myself have about 18 guitars. This guitar seriously sound better than my JS 1 to compare. With good sustain and also i am a user of Di-Marzio, i just like it!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar set-up is fine! I just have to lower the floyd-rose alittle to suit my playing and it is perfect! The finish of this guitar is better than the normal JS1000btb because the paint job is done by Team J.Craft and i can see it. That is just my opinion!=)

Reliability/Durability : 10
I just bought this guitar and only done 1 live show, it does not give me trouble! In fact, my Jem 7VSBL give me a little due to broken string! So i had to use this guitar to replace my JEM for the 2nd set. She just did her job and made me fully satisfied with it!

Customer Support : 8
Let me see, My JS 1 back plate were broken and try to find one to replace it, I cant find it in the Distributor in Malaysia in fact i had in during my journey to visit my forster family in Japan. They have what kind of accesories in a guitar shop in Kyoto and i can easily but replacement for it but only in Japan!

I had 7 Ibanez guitars,(PGM300, PGM500, JS1, JS1000, RG2820, S-520 and JEM7VSBL) 2 Fender( Stracto. USA deluxe and Stracto. Japan 1960) 2 Gibson( Explorer Gothic, Les Paul Custom), 1 Washburn( Dime 3), 1 Ovation and others. JS1000, I would like to complete with PGM300, and JS 1 because they use the same pick- up. Overall, i like the playability of JS 1000 compare to this 2 guitars.

The bass side of the locking nuts on my JS1000 weared out after 3 month, since its still under warranty, the shop ordered a replacement for me. It arrived almost TEN MONTH later! anyways I was happy I finally got it and soon after I got home I replace it with the old one, and guess what? the replacement nut is 23mm in width and the original is 22mm.... what can I say??

I am really impressed by this japanese instrument. My review is based on +25 years of experience as mucisian.I did own and still own some of the best instruments ever made.Is better by far than the tom anderson (drop top, cobra),Parker(night fly)but can not touch the sound of a prs custom 22 or fenders from the custom shop,is better than most new Gibsons but can not touch the sound of a good vintage Gibby. The thing is thar this instrument is at list 2-3 times cheaper than the above mentioned instruments.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The finish is poor at my openion and can not be compared with top instruments as prs tom anderson etc.The guitar looks cheap and it is cheap if you compare it with top us manufacturers,on the other hand playability is high the fretboard is top quality and can handle real low action without buzz. The tremolo is best at my openion really close to the right hand no problem at all for heavy dives or reverse bar.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
It looks it want stay for ever but thanks God i cant proove that yet.The metal at the bridge looks poor and not solid at all.The finish is poor ,case is extra.

The greek dealer is fine.

I wanted a cheap all around instrument for practice alone or with the my band .For live or recordings i use other instruments but as i said this guitar sounds much better than some really big names in guitar industry.I guess i would sound killer with this guitar live but i dont like people to see me with Ibanez. Its like driving a ferari and you dont like others to see you with a Fiat.(if can passed this complex i have there is not a problem at all).ITS A VERY GOOD GUITAR AND TOP QUALITY FOR THE MONEY.IF YOU ARE AFTER TONE THIS (SERIOUSLY) COULD BE YOUR INSTRUMENT WITHOUT SPENDING MUCH MONEY.On the other hand you dont get the feeling that this guitar will stay alive for long time.Nuff said.

JS1000 Black pearl.

Lo Pro Edge trem.
Dimarzio PAF Pro and FRED (neck and bridge)
Coil tap and High pass filer (Push pull volume and Tone knobs)

240 mmR (9.5 inch...nice and round) Identical to fender strat necks. Not flat like the RG and S series. (17inch....400-440mmR)...which sucks major balls!!

Sound : 10
I mostly play progressive rock music. I have to cover a wide variety of songs, and that is why this guitar is the most suitable for my taste. I used to use a S series before, which was also good, but the JS1000 just blows it out the water. This guitar is just amazing. I had the JEM in mind because it looks cool and everything, but the neck on the JEM is totally flat!!! Believe it or not. The neck radius on the JEM is 440 mmR, which is approximately 17 inch radius.
I have heard that it is much easier to shred on a flat neck, but so far I havent felt that way, and I played guitar for more than 13 years. Besides, I dont think Joe can go wrong with his choice and the JS series has been the longest porject with Ibanez.

However I would still recommend you to try this guitar, especially feel of it before you buy it. many prefer flatter necks for speed paying. Steve Vai is one of them.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Ok! this is where I am a bit upset with Ibanez. The action was set ok, but the bridge wasnt set right. As far as I know Floyd trems should be in parallel wiht the body, but mines wasnt. It was floating a little above the body. I havent tried to change it because my S series floyd is even much worse. and to tame a Floyd is a nightmare. Let thi guitar get a little older and I will try to fix this problem :)))

My other grudge is that my 6th string buzzes a little if you strum hard, but if you play normally, it is fine. It happens with my S as well, so I am not much worried about it. However, this might be a problem in future as the frets wear out, but I fervently hope not. I think raising the action can fix this problem, but I havent tried to do that. I found this gutar on sale for $699, so I can live with it. However, if it was the regular $1119.99, I would have probably changed this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have only played it for a week, so i can tell yet, but as far as I am concerned this guitar will hold up a long time. However, the fret wires seem to be very thin.....so I am not sure how long they will last. I play a lot of "Legato" so my frets wear out quickly ....which sucks. My S series will probably need a fret job pretty soon.

Customer Support : 1
I have emailed them, but I have never heard of them.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall this guitar is AWESOME. I would recommend anyone to buy it. If you have this guitar, chances are you wont need any other guitar. It can play anything from blues to Jazz to even Thrash metal!! YES!! IT IS that VERSATILE....it will just blow your mind away. I love this baby WAY TOOOO MUCH!! I am glad I bought it :)

I play mostly metallica, steve vai, dream theater, etc. and it does it all. Great clean sound when you split the coils. Pickups are both great.

I think this catagory is shit because i've never seen a guitar set up good from the factory. I set my js up how i liked and it plays great. The finish is perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
If i was gigging i would take along my universe because of the floating trem. I don't think this guitar is gonna fall apart while i'm playing. The only guitar that would do that is a squire.

If this guitar were stolen i would for sure buy a new one. I love the trem and i'll probably never buy another guitar without one. This is an excellent guitar with more sounds than you can imagine. I would highly recomend this guitar to eveyone who is reading this.

The features are pretty standard. The push/pull coil taps are a nice addition.

Sound : 9
The Dimarzios sounded surprisingly good. A little thin, but its a pretty light guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Factory set-up was poor. Intonation was way off, string buzzes, etc. After an intonation setup and tremelo adjustments, it turned out OK. A little buzz between the 10 and 12th frets.
The tremelo was extremely poor. It seemed to drift out of tune very easily. After a few whacks on the bar it would go out. With a floating bridge it can be a pain to retune quickly. I ended up bringing the guitar back to guitar center. It seems a little ridiculous that an $1100 guitar wouldnt stay in very well. I tried a few other Ibanez guitars, and it seems the Edge tremelos stay put a helluva lot better. I ended up trading for a rg520. It stayed in tune better, and even if it drifted, it was only half the price.

Reliability/Durability : 5
Finish was OK. It seems a little cheaply put together for a guitar in that price range.

My JS1000 is a 2000` model...It features two Dimarzios Paf pro H/H,a low-pro tremolo,basswood body,rosewood fretboard with 22 warmoth frets...

Sound : 10
I mainly play metal (progressive, power) ,but i also play instrumental rock and blues...This baby does it all !!! It can deliver incredible smooth tones (blues, ballads, clean etc) ,and some of the heaviest sounds you ever heard (power metal, thrash etc)...I cant think of another guitar that does it SOOO well for all sorts of music genres!!
I use my JS with a Boss Gt-5 and a Marshall JCM900 head with a 4x12 cabinet...The sound is bright, thick and full with amazing systain. I can compare JSs sustain only with Neck-Thru guitars...The variety of sounds that this guitar can do is countless. You can crunk every sound imagineable. Those wacky sounds that are present in every Joe Satriani`s song, are an easy task for this baby...I loved it all the way..

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar is set-up pretty good from the factory. I guess that the action was a little too high for me, but i fixed it easily immediately after i purchased it...I also changed the strings from standar 9s to soft bullet 10s...The pickups are adjusted perfectly.I cant think of better Hums than Dimarzio`s PafPRO for this guitar.
The low-pro tremolo is a VERY good tremolo and fits perfectly with the guitar`s character...Its very well adjusted from factory too...
My only complain is that the guitar`s finish is not as good as it should be...Its good but it doesnt represents JS`s name and character.
Only flaw i see...

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar`s borned for live performance...Reliable and Durable all the way.I`ve never used backup guitars on gigging since i bought the JS.If someone asks me if i could play a whole 2 hour gig with just the JS and no backup, i would say YES without second thoughts...:):)

Customer Support : No Opinion
I`ve never had any problems with my JS , so i cant say anything about support...

Overall Rating : 10
I`ve been playing for 10 years straight...I own and owned many guitars. My main axes now (besides JS)are a Jackson SL2h,an esp M-III,
an Ibanez Rg7620 and a fender strat standar USA...
If my JS was stolen (GOD NO) i would go and buy a new JS without second thoughts. This guitar does it all for me. I love everything on this guitar. My favorite feature is the warmoth frets. Bendings are much more accurate and easy with warmoth, and fretting is much more accurate...

I think this guitar was made in 2001, but I'm not very sure. It has 22 frets. Also, it has a volume knob, a tone knob, and a 3-way pickup selector. It's got two hambucker pickups, but has a built in feature where pulling up the tone knob makes the pickups to be single coil. I'm not sure what kind of wood it's used, I think it's basswood. It's really thin & light weight. The bridge has a floyd rose tremolo, which stays in tune really good. The neck is thin, thin and really good!

Sound : 10
Oh, this thing is a TONE MACHINE. It can get you from soft rock, to heavy metal, and everything in between. I mostly play Joe Satriani stuff, and that's one of the reasons why I bought it, because of tone. I can also play heavy stuff, Metallica, etc. The guitar is not noisy at all, but it's a tiny bit noisy on the single coil feature...not a big deal though. The sound is just right on any setting. It has a really rich, smooth, and at the same time attacking sound. It can go from really soft leads, to more trebbly sounding licks. It got tons of sounds, by just messing around with the tone and the volume knob. Also, the pickups sound different on every position.
I like pretty much everything on it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action was good, I think a little too high, but that was easily fixed. It was of course, lower than my previous guitar, but not so bad. Everything seems to be adjusted fine. The pickups had a fine height, and I've needed no adjustments.
No flaws, nicks, or anything. No previous sign of abuse at all.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Seems to be built really strong. The feel of the neck and the body it's just too good to be true. It feels really solid, the connection. I dont' know how well it'd stand live situations, but I hope it does last a lot because this is a $1000+ guitar, so I'm expecting it to be good. The finish is good, so do the knobs. One thing I don't like, it's that sometimes on the volume knob when I turn it all the way from zero to 1, 2....or any setting, I'll get a scratchy sound, but it goes away with time. I think it's pretty reliable. The strap buttons are way solid and big, so there is no way that it's falling. I'm sure I can depend on it, I've used it for the past 2 months without problems or worries. I would use it without a backup because I don't have another guitar, but if I were to get a backup guitar, I'd get the JS1000 white :)

Customer Support : No Opinion
I emailed them because the salesman sold me the guitar and he couldn't find the alley wrenches, nor the key for the case. I emailed Ibanez and complained, but they never got back to me. I guess the email was not a complain mail address. Anyways, I hope it all goes well and I hope I don't have to deal with them.
The salesman from Guitar Center who sold me the guitar, a week later called me up and got me another set of wrenches from another JS1000 that they had just gotten in, so it wasn't a big deal then.
I won't give an opinion here, since I really didn't deal with Ibanez that much, only one email.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for almost 2 years. This guitar has it all that I've ever missed from my previous Ibanez RG220. Tone, tone and more of it. If it were lost or stolen, I'd hurt the son of a b*tch who stole it, then save up and buy another one. My favorite feature is the tone knob, with the dimarzio fred pickup.....sweet lead tone :)

Let's see, the axe is a JS1000 in a burnt see through blue colour made in March 2001. It's a standard Jap Satriani model. Its got 22 Jumbo frets that dont look very jumbo and is supposed to have an American basswood body, Not to sure whether its really 'American' or not. The neck on this baby is bolt on with a JS shaped maple neck and a Lo-pro edge locking trem. It's loaded with 2 Dimarzio humbuckers, namely the Fred at the bridge and a Paf Pro at the neck which has a coil split feature as well as a high pass filter.
The body is similar to a strat with rounded edges and the guitar feels incredibly light compared to other JS's I've played.
Comes together with a Ibanez hardcase which is pretty decent compared to my old two dollar strat case. Overall not too bad.

Sound : 8
Well if your thinking will it make you sound like the Satchman, the answer is straight Hell No!!! Lets start with the sounds when plugged in clean. Both pickups sound full and bright with the Paf Pro sounding bassy and clear. The Fred on other hand sounds quite different with a trebly clang to it and more aggressiveness.
Pile on the gain and lets hear this lion roar. Well the one thing I found instantly was that these pickups dont have the high gain distortion crunch (Vai, Van Halen etc) no matter how much you dial up the gain or what stompbox you use. Its more conserved and mellow concentrating on a clear, smooth tone rather than a balls to the wall crunch. The neck pickup sounds very "always with me'like with a clear lows and middles with the bridge pickup giving a more 'train of angels' kinda highs with boosted middles. Cant really say this guitar suits all purposes cause those coil taps basically thin out and lower the volume of the sound rather than give it that strat twang, even with the high pass filter on. Basically it doesnt sound like a strat or lespaul so if you want those sounds get a real Fender and Gibson. But if you want a guitar that screams COOL and shouts instrumental ROCK than you might wanna try this out. Overall would like more higher gain pickups like Vai's Evoulutions but this is after all Mr Satch's tone machine not Vai's rock monster.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The guitar was quite poorly set up at the factory or rather I was too picky cause the action felt a little high and it took me a while longer to get the damn thing in tune cause they left a few screws at the the trem unscrewed. Everytime I used the trem it would go severly out of tune , which should clearly not be happening on a locking trem. Anyways once this was sorted out there was a bit of fret buzz at the 10th fret which sucked cause I had to increase the action again. Arrrgh!!!! The finish was near perfect with a few minor buffing scratches here and there. The neck joint was neat and tidy and the frets were well dressed but could have done with a bit more detail, the fret buzz didnt help neither. One thing I was annoyed with was that the pickup selector switch felt loose and in my opinion cheap, hmmm not sure if its like this on all models. The other controls worked fine and the tuners worked smoothly.
Just make sure you get the shop to set it up and dont expect it to be perfect out of the box. Overall, I thought this department could have done with a little more improvement for a signature model.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The guitar looks like it'll hold up for live gig that doesnt involve too much head banging and thrashing going on. The hardware is pretty tough so that'll last through some serious trem abuse but youn might wanna be careful with that pick cause the finish scratches real easy. Strap buttons are worthy but i suggest using the Dimarzio clip straps cause they just feel more secure. Dont think I could totally depend on it in a live situation without a trusty back up cause its a locking trem guitar and replacing the strings is near impossible at that stage. I would rather be safe than sorry, Know what I mean?

Customer Support : 9
I ordered it one and a half months ago and it came it exactly when they said it would and came all properly boxed up. High marks in this department.

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing for about 3 years, got a few other axes like a Yamaha RGX, Old Squier strat, Fender P-Bass Lyte and a Yamaha 12 string acoustic running through a Marshall Valvestate 265 combo, Park RCD30 combo and a 30 watt old cheapo Johnson amp. I expected alot more out of this guitar cause at the price you expect better quality handling. However, for the Satch enthusiast it will do fine. I dont mind this guitar but if it got stolen or wrecked I would probably get a different guitar like a Fender Roadhouse strat, PRS or a true blue Gibson. Overall just wish the pickups were a little hotter and a better factory set up. Might try out a Yamaha 812W or a SG700 cause for the money these guitars are worth every dollar.

I think the most remarkable features on this guitar are de option to convert the humbuckers in single coils and the superb tremolo. The "single Coil" sound doesn't have the classic Fender Twang, but it works pretty good for clean sounds. You may find all the specs at the Ibanez website.

I have to say it has a lot more features than the typical guitar.

Sound : 9
Obviously it sounds like Joe Satriani. I have to say that the guitar is great for soloing and for making open chords in weird voicings, but I didn't like it for blues or jazz.

I'm using a POD 2.0 through a Fender Passport 150 PA system.

The "single coil" sound is a little noisy, but you can survive with it (actually this configuration is less noisy than any Fender)

The sound is rich and full, somewhat obscure, but you may obtain faboulous screaming harmonics.

I think this is a truly great axe for the rock-heavy metal guitarist, but is not quite flexible. The sound is really good if you are playing power chords or solos.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have had other Ibanez guitars, and the factory set-up was terrible. This one is different. Good intonation, great action. Obviously this is a $1,000+ guitar, you expect this to be a standard.

The finish is really beautiful. The machinery is very unique. Two thumbs up for Ibanez on this one.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I don't think that the hardware will last. Strap buttons are amazingly solid. I'm using this guitar for practicing and it seems to be very reliable. I obviously would use a backup, since the guitar has a floyd-rose type tremolo, and if a string is broken in the middle of the gig you are in trouble.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No opinion.

I've being playing for 13 years. I mostly play blues, rock & jazz.

I really love the finish and the humbucker-single coil feature. I dislike that the sound is not suitable for all styles of music.

I think this is a very good guitar. But if this will be your only guitar you got to think twice before making the investment. I have a Fender Stratocaster Stevie Ray Vaughan and a Les Paul Custom '57 so I can have a "pure rocker" guitar like the JS1000, and if a need some twang o something to play jazz I have the other guitars.

The guitar is very beautiful, has great DiMarzio pickups and is very comfortable. This guitar is Ibanez's top of the line and is a very fine instrument. I really like it.

This axe has some sweet sound to it! I play alot of instumental pieces so it fits my style like a glove. I use a Boss DS-1 and a Korg AX1000G in my effects loop at the moment and the guitar sings like an angel through my effects setup.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was set up well at the factory. Intonation was good and the action is the lowest that I have ever played on. The only problem I had the first day I brought it home was some fret buzz (none of which came through the amp) that was easily fixed. There were also NO shims used on this guitar in any area.

The finish is a flawless snow white. Absolutly beautiful. Like everyone said, floating bridge......need to have a backup at gigs. Strap buttons are solid. I have a soft touch when I play so I'm really not worried about it wearing out.

Features : 10
I'm not sure of the year it was made. This is supposed to be a simple guitar, but these features make it the most versital I've had the pleasure of playing. It has a Basswood body, 22 frets, 2 humbuckers FRED and PAF pro, 2 push pull pots (one is a coil tap, the other is a high-pass filter--great feature!!), Floyd Rose style lo-pro edge tremolo, and a fantastic 9" radius neck!!! This neck is incredible, it is very comfortable for playing both chords and leads . . . quite a departure from what I'm used to: flat wide Jackson necks. This works perfectly with my smaller hands.

Sound : 10
How can you describe perfection??? The versatility of this guitar has unlocked my creativity; I've been playing mostly Jackson style guitars, flat thin neck with screaming humbuckers, thinking what I needed was more gain. This guitar has medium output pickups, but it has wonderful singing sustain and a wide open tone. I can get everything from singing leads to the sound of a tender kiss on this guitar. I bought a JMP-1 to be able to dial in any sound, but I find that I just use a couple of different settings on the amp and control the tone changes mostly from the guitar knobs. The high-pass filter allows the high frequencies to come through as you roll down the volume on the guitar . . . For clean or slightly dirty I like using the neck pickup in single coil mode. That is a piece of heaven.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I bought this guitar used, so I can't really say how it came from the factory, but there other things I can comment on. What had me disappointed were the shims used . . . other people have commented on the shims under the nut, but I found something rather disturbing . . . in an attempt to reduce the string buzzing I was getting, I took the neck off and found another shim. A guitar of this calibur should be cut precisely, not so-so and then made to work. But then, again, the sustain and tone are still great, and isn't that what counts? Anyway, after some work, I got the action set up really well; very low and even across the fretboard.

One thing to keep in mind is that this guitar is made for a very light touch . . . If you pick too hard, the strings will buzz.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't play in a band, but if I were to buy a back up . . . I think I would get a black JS 1000

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for about 10 years now and have gone through several guitars. This one is a keeper. It has the most versital tone of any guitar I've ever played and I love that I can control the tone from the guitar and not messing too much with different amp settings. Another of my favorite features is the neck; it fits like a glove. And I do plan on getting another one anyway, but I do hope this one is never stolen.

The only thing is I cannot give it a 10 because of the shortcuts taken in making the guitar.

This is a 2000 model in Black Pearl. Lots of features too many to list here. Can be read at the Ibanez site. My favorite features however are the compound radius neck, the high pass filter and the coil tap.

Sound : 10
I play many styles and have a guitar or two for each sound. I bought this for mostly hard rock(Van-Halen, Dokken, Satch etc.) as I thought it would compliment my Les Pauls and and Strats nicely. It certainly does that. It drives my Marshall's lead channel better than any other guitar I own(I own 12 in all) and sounds like heaven on my Fender tweed Blues Deluxe. The high-pass filter when engaged provides killer clean tone when backing off the volume to clean up the sound for jazz or blues in either humbucking or single coil mode! This guitar has the widest palette of sounds I have ever heard from one instrument. Every sound it makes is pleasing to the ear. Outside of my Gibsons, I couldn't say that about the other guitars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Factory set-up sucked big time!!!There was almost 5/64" relief in the neck at the 8th fret with the guitar capoed at the 1st fret and fretted at the body. It bowed so much you could've shot an arrow off of it. If you bent ANY string more than half a step at the octave, it would begin to choke. Relief should have been no more than.008-.014"... The harmonics were way off. I don't honestly think anyone at the factory check intonation, if they did they sure as hell didn't strobe it! The spring tension on the Floyd Rose was way off as well. When the guitar was tuned to pitch the bridge would pull forward about15-20 degrees with .009-.042 strings(factory recommended). Fit and finish of the guitar was otherwise superb. I think they just let the NEW GUY do the set up. The string height was 5/64" at the octave on the high E and 6/64" at the low E and as high as that is, it STILL CHOKED with the lousy factory setup. Pickups were a little low. I raised them up a bit.

I straightened out the neck to .008" relief, reset the spring tension on the FLOYD ROSE, lowered the action to 2/64"on the high E(very impressive for an IBEENHAD*ibanez* to get that low. Only my Jem7vh was able to do that successfully, the other Ibanezs I've owned would never usually get down past 3-3.5/64" at the octave before it would choke on a bend. The bass side I took down to 4.25-4.5/64". Once the intonation was set, I had killer harmonics, and one of the most awesome guitars I've ever played.

I am rating this category low for the extremely poor factory setup. The quality of the materials used was excellent, they just didn't know how to put those materials together to make them work properly:)It could've been a 10 if they did it right.

Reliability/Durability : 10
All quality parts as far as I can see. Wouldn't use it without a backup only because of the Floyd Rose:)
