Chrome plated body and headstock. Original Edge tremelo, DiMarzio custom 10th p/u's H/H, volume and tone knob with push/pull pots for coil splitting and high pass filter, 3 pos. toggle, luthite composite body and maple neck with rosewood 22 fret neck.

Sound : 10
Tones are killer. I have played many JS's including the JS-4 Electric Rainbow and an original JS-1. None of these nail the signature chrome boy tone like the JS10th. I too was scepticle because of the luthite body, but this thing sounds great. Hats off to Steve Blutcher at DiMarzio for these p/u's. It is very warm and chunky. It cuts but never gets edgey and has tons of bottom end. With the coils tapped it has a very impressive strat tone. Very fat and dynamic with sweet bell like tones. It is not only the best JS tone I have heard, it is one of the best tones I have EVER heard,PERIOD!!!!!

Here is where my opinion of this ax is torn. The action and playability is great. As is the case with most high end Ibanez guitars. The neck is small and fast. I would like a little flatter radius, but this is still a very comfortable neck. The finish on the other hand leaves a little to be desired. I was aware of the flaws these were coming out with and mine is no exception. It has no major flaws. Just several very small flecks, like tiny dust particals, in the finish. They are not noticeable from any distance. Inspite of the small imperfections, this guitar looks beautiful. I LOVE CHROME!! I love it, and would buy it again and again!! For this reason I still have to give it a 10 in this category.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Only time will tell. So far the chrome on the body seems to be resistant to pick scratches. I am one to baby my guitars any way. The head stock is an area of concern. It is not chrome plated like the body. It has a chrome film overlay and is probably easily scratched. So string with care in this area.

Customer Support : 10
I have never really needed any support other than a couple of questions answered over the phone. In these instances, assistance was very friendly and helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for over 20yrs and have many other high quality guitars. I am forever haunted by the eternal pursuit of that ever illusive ULTIMATE tone. I have to rate this one in the top 5% of all tones. If it were stolen I would hunt down and kill the thief. Then I would buy another one.(if I could find another one) I love the whole vibe of this guitar. I am disappointed with the finish flaws. I love the chrome boy looks. I only wish for the perfect flawless finish. I have #112. If I could afford it I would have at least 5 more.

Luthite body...thats right luthite......It sounds great. Wood varies too much..I have heard many bad sounding wood guitars.
Two humbuckers with coil tap (pull up tone knob) and capacitor between humbucker output and volume knob. A capacitor is a short circuit to high frequencies, and so as you turn the volume down, the highs are still at full force. This is also activated by pulling up on the volume knob.
Neck feels like a great Strat neck. This guitar is very Strat like. Even sounds like a Strat when you tap the coils. But sounds like Joe Satriani when in humbucker mode. This is by far the best sounding live guitar that I have ever played.
The guitar is perfection. Strings bend very easily. about as easy as a Les Paul.

TONE...TONE and TONE. Every setting is great (6 settings).
The guiatr cuts through any massive high gain amp with punch and more importantly clarity. It has a sweat upper midrange tone and the harmonics jump of the fretboard at the slightest change in pick attack. Very musical. Even better than my Music Man EVH. That says a lot, because I thought nothing could top that axe.
I used a 30TH anniversary Marshall with a Boss DS-1 (Japan). My tone was almost as good as Joe's tone when I heard him live. I don't have the magical speakers that he has stuffed in the two 4-12s he uses...so I probably will never nail it, but the missing link was the guitar. After using a boatload of guitars ( Gibsons, PRSs, Fenders, Van Halens) I found the guitar to be the missing link. It brought me that much closer to Joe's live tone, which is what I wanted to begin with.

THE BEST GUITAR FOR PLAYING SOLO's INTO A MARSHALL AMP>
With a Les Paul, you cannot shape the sound while playing, but with the JS10TH, you have the capacitor bypass and coil tap at hand. If your tone isn't right while you are in the middle of a solo, you can change it while playing.
The problem with most guitars is that when playing live, the amps change sound as you turn up. When the tubes are pushed hard and the speakers are pushed, the highs get shaved off. The once magical LES Paul Marshall tone, is now under a blanket sounding. The JS10Th cuts through that and still sounds even better that it did at low volumes. It is truely the best live guitar that I have ever played.

Very well constructed guitar with all high end parts. Like any other High end Ibanez. The main topic is the chrome finish. My rating for this is category is for everything EXCEPT the chrome finish. Mine is number #24 out of 700 made world wide.

Sound : 10
Very versitile sound. The 3 way toggle switch, with coil taps give a wide variety of sounds to play styles from blues, classical, to massive gain power chords. Warm and rich, crisp and sharp leads, to hallow and tinny sounds, this guitar can do them all

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Out of the box this guitar is ready to play. With the exception of my Parker Fly, I have never had a guitar play more PERFECTLY for myself as the JS10th. Action and Intonation just the way I like it. Low and Tight. I am also impressed with the Chrome Pickups NOT buzzing or creating some ground noice as I experienced with my Steve Vai Jem 10th.
Now the Chrome Body finish is another story. I knew the finish was going to have problems. i.e. pealing, air bubbles, flaks. I called Hoshina ( ibanez ) to ask if the JS10th had these types of imperfections. They told me "NO, not at all. NO problems with the finish." This was a lie. I have seen 5 JS10th and ALL of them had some type of air bubble, or water spot type imperfection in them. Some a lot more than others. Mine is Fair. Only a few air bubbles noticable only from about as far as 5 ft away. Beyond that you can't see them. All in all. Still a nice looking guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Only had it for a few months.. The main concern of cource is with the chrome finish getting scratched or scuffed up and this is my the biggest and only concern I have with the guitar. I will be VERY VERY VERY careful with it. The guitar itself should stand up to anything.

Customer Support : 9
I have delt with Hoshina ( ibanez ) only a few times. With the exception of trying to get answers about the condition of the Chrome Boy finish before I purchased it. They were VERY helpful. Like I mentioned about my SV Jem 10th having BAD buzz and ground noices every time I touched the pickup, It took 3 times, shipping it back and forth before they fixed it 100%, but they did untill I was satisfied with it. Now it is PERFECT.... in short GREAT Tech and Cust support

Guitars: Ibanezs: RG 570 Multi Color 7 sting Universe (autographed) Jem777 white (autographed) Jem 10th soon to come Jem 90th J. Petrucci JMP-1 (autographed) J. Petrucci JMP-100 B/W (autographed) JS10th Chrome Boy Parker Fly 84 Fender Strat
Amp: Mesa/Boogie TriAxis Mesa/Boogie Simel 2:90 Lexicon PCM 80
JS10th CHROME BOY: A nice guitar and collectable item. I do feel that Ibanez should not have relased an imperfect guitar at such a HIGH price. They should have offered a rebate for the imperfections in the finish, OR taken them back and corrected the problem. For those of you who were lucky and recieved a Perfect JSth10. Congradulations on you guitar. For the rest of us, I feel a little cheated. Just a little. But I just had to have it......

JS-10 Model aka "Chromeboy" Dual Humbucker (FRED and PAF Pro Bridge and Neck respectively)Made of Wood Composite called Luthite, rosewood neck with 22 frets. Maple backed neck with stripe down the back. Orginal Edge trem as opposed to the Lo-Pro Edge on the JS1000 models. I have to give the guitar a 10 on features only because there is nothing you can't do with what it has. really!

Sound : 10
The sound is MAGNIFICENT. I thought the tone would be brighter due to the chrome finish on the guitar. It doesn't unless you want it to. The FRED and PAF PRO have been specially wound to match the tone balance of the guitar body so they are not the standard passive pickups you will find with the other JS models. I play from Dream Theaterish riffs to Stevie Ray singing guitar, and it hits them dead on with oomph to boot.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The folks at Ibanez did a number with this one. The guitar was set to rock as soon as I pulled it from its case. They set it up to Joe's specs and it felt just smooth as glass. Great feel to the neck with the string tension. INCREDIBLE JOB Go Ibanez. (too bad they don't put this kind of attention to the rest of their guitars that aren't the "signature line".

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Due the nature of its finish, it can get marred noticeably if you whack against a hard surface. I will play this guitar live eventually but I am myself getting informed on how to care for the chrome finish. It does not look as if the chrome will fade off of it, though, the finish looks fantastic.

Customer Support : 10
The company is very easy to deal with. I never dealt with them for warranty or such but for information purposes they have always helped me out quickly and more than adequately.

Overall Rating : 10
The best guitar in my collection by far and will be the most enjoyed since I have lusted after it since I first saw Joe with it on the cover a magazine in '90!!!

An excellent guitarr, Luthite body , JS shaping 22 frets, Jumbo original edge tremolo dimarzio pickups (great sound)

Sound : 10
The sound is different from any of my other guitars. It can be warm, and bright, and it has plenty of options. Excellent pickups, with the combination of luthite body, makes for a really special tone. Tons of sustain as well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action is low, and perfect. No fret buzz, easy access to the higher frets, and a wonderful feel.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Well I only got it a few months ago, but so far it has held up in live playing, and I am sure that the hardware will last due to previous experiences with other JS models.

Customer Support : 10
never dealt with them yet. Hopefully won't have too.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 15 years, and this is just about the best guitar I own. (I currently have 17 guitars) I can't find any problems with it at all.
