Ibanez RG2020

My guitar was made in 1999, in Japan. 24 Frets. 5 way selector, 1 volume, 1 tone, Piezo/Mag switch and preamp switch. HH pickup configuration. Stock pickups are Ibanez V7/V8 combo. Active electronics. Mahogany Body. Its a dark blue stained mahogany, with a clear coat. The finish chips very easily. Super strat body style. Double Edge floyd rose bridge. Non locking tuners, I believe they are Gotohs. The neck is very thin, but not as thin as the original Ibanez Wizard.

I play all kinds of music. Ibanez is generally regarded as a metal guitar, I dont think that is true. Im using a Flextone II HD with this guitar. The stock pickups werent noisy at all, but when I dropped a tone zone in the bridge it got noiser. The piezo sounds absolutely incredible, the best clean ever. I like most everything about the way this guitar sounds.

When I got the guitar, it wasnt set up well. Paid for the professional setup, oh boy what a difference. It is an incredible guitar. It plays extremely well. There were no flaws that I could see other then finish chips on the back.

This guitar is built extremely well. I can just see the quality in the workmanship everywhere.

This guitar has two humbuckers(v7 and v8), and piezos in the lo-pro edge double locking floyd rose tremolo. It has a neck that is cut in three different ways and the pieces put back together with the grain facing in different directions to make the neck more precise. She has 24 frets and a transparent blue-green finish and the ibanez logo in mother of pearl on the headstock. I couldn't imagine a more versatile guitar. The features are great.

I use a 30 watt marshall amp with a digitech RP200 effects pedal. I play mostly old and new rock, but i still mix in some blues and creedence clearwater revival(i dont know what kind of music to classify that as). It has a great sound for rock, i can get a heavy sound out of the v7(neck) and all the highs for solos and leads out of the v8(bridge). I've heard better pickups though. The guitar itself has a great sound and good sustain, which would be better if it didn't have the tremelo it does, but would anyone really want to sacrifice such a great tremolo for a little bit of sustain? I will mark the guitar down a little for the pickups, but those can always be replaced.

I bought the guitar at woodwind and brasswind in southbend, and they gave me a free setup with the guitar, so i dont really know how the factory setup was, but i like it how the guy there did it. I got it on a great sale when they marked down their scratch and dent section half off, so i got it for around 700 dollars. It had a ding/scratch on the bottom fin. It seems to have a poor finish which chips and scratches very easily. There are no other flaws that i can find though. Being the ding/scratch probably happened at the store and the thin finish has more to do with durability rather than action and fit im going to mark down in the next part.

This guitar will stay in tune for anything, and it is very reliable. The finish is very thin and it chips very easily. Its such a beautiful guitar, i feel like crying when i see a chip in it, but it happens. However, its ok having a few dings in a guitar that sounds that great.

I didnt get anything but the store warranty and thats where i get it fixed. I dont know how good ibanez is at taking care of their customers.

i've been playing for quite a while, but im still not that great. I would have never been able to buy a guitar of this quality had it not been on sale. Thank God for that scratch.(: I do wish it had nicer humbuckers like dimarzio's. If it were stolen, i would the theif down, kill him, and take my guitar back. I love this guitar. I also have a gibson all-american II that my uncle gave me recently and a seagull acoustic. The ibanez blows the gibson away, and its hard to compare it to an acoustic, but i'd say they have equal sound quality. I love the feel of this guitar, and the way it plays, the only thing i hate is that weak finish. It just hurts me to see it when it has a scratch or ding on it, but hey nothings perfect.

I will not write all the same stuff, just read backwards.
But i can told you that the fesatures of this guitar are a lot, so i you are looking for a guitar with a lot of features, and sounds, here you have it.
The neck is perfect is just between satriani an vai necks, is an ultra neck that is perfect for my playing style.

I dont really know how is the original sound because when I bought it the bridge pickup was replaced by a dimarzio steves special(petrucci), but with this pickups it really kick ass. I will maybe change de V7, because i like paf pro pickup, but dont worry the v7 sound cool.

The adjustments made by the other owner where quite good in the bridge and pickups, i just raised a little bit the V7, but after that was perfect. The bridge is great but it get a little bit out of tune (i will send it to adjust). But after all the bridge is a babe.
The finish is beautiful the tb (tranparent blue) is really great, you can see that is a professional guitar.

I bought it 2 months ago so i dont know if it will satnd live playing, but it looks like it could resist anything.
Be Careful with the painting beacuse is thin.

It a great guitar for the money. If it where stollen I get an other one. Dont forget that is a prestige so is handmade and is really better than any fender for the same price. Here you get acoustica and electric sound and that is great...

I have to say eight because the stock pickups suck mightily. Once replaced with a seymour duncan JB (trem spaced of course) and also and alnico pro II in the neck, well then this guitar gets an 11 for sound. it really kicks arse.

Was alright, but any guitar needs a setup unless its coming to you straight from a custom shop. Once setup and oiled, action is tight, finish is killer, then it gets an 11 again.

2 outputs (magnetic and piezo) and a volume for each output. tone for the magnetic sound and a great 5way coil selector (H/-/H). Passive humbuckers. V7 and V8 by ibanez. For a prestige model I'd prefer dimarzios but ok it's an excelent guitar with a very beautiful finish. Dark blue, like the color of the ocean's deep and a brown line around. Excelent hardware, I like it. The bridge is the best ever. Really. Not only the best floyd rose tremolo that Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and other great players use but with the technology of L.R. Baggs for the sound of an acoustic guitar (thats why it has two outputs)
The neck is PERFECT. My friends told me that is too thick. But you have to play for a while to get used to it. Jems guitars have thick neck too. Vai use 19mm neck and Satriani 20mm. This guitar is 19,5mm but don't forget PRESTIGE.

It's perfect for everything I play except Jazz and blues. This guitar is more for metal and hard rock. That's my styl. My gears is an 65watt Ross amp and a great multieffect pedal from Boss co the GT-6. The amp is not good, but with this guitar and the pedal I'm satisfied. I need to change the amp but I don't have any money after that purchase heheh. Here I go again: This guitar needs Dimarzio's
May be a paf pro or a breed. But I like the V8 pickup.
About the wood..Perfect and if you remove the plastic cover of the springs on the behind you'll have the sound of god (I saw this on malmsteen's guitar and it's working if you play hard)

Ibanez did an EXCELENT job with the setup. with 009 strings the bridge is perfectly straight, straplocks installed and enormous machogany body and color.

I don't know cause I have this guitar only for 3 months...but I think it's ok. Not like fenders though but ok. I'm afraid about the painting. Ibanez factory use thin paint but if your careful (not like Johny greenwood playin the creep song) i believe you'll have this guitar for many years

Multi features with multiple angles for different sounds with the piezo! Lo pro edge trem with super fast wizard neck! Fabulous!

I love the the sounds! I did replace the pickups(v7, v8) with dimarzio air norton and a dimarzio Steve's special like Petrucci from dream theater! Way more control! I use a 5150 head with vintage 30 stack and gmajor(tc electronic) and eq with bbe maximizer! Sounds phat! Guitar gets heavy tones as well as acoustics!

Good Setup! Action is great! I wish it was finished like the 3120tw ibanez with the maple flamed top, but that is me! It still is beautiful! Also wish the guitar had inlays like the 3120tw model prestige? 5-way selector is cool!

Great guitar! I love this model along with the 3120tw! Prestige rules! with the dimarzios, this guitar is killer! I play Opeth/inflames/dream theater type stuff and the piezo helps greatly live! Other guitars like this are the Petrucci Ernie Ball model! But it is way spendy, plus looks kinda weird? All in all, the best guitar with most versatility I have seen in years!

this is a beautiful guitar! this is the only 6-string double edge in the rg look. Gorgeous transparent blue top to a mahogany body and a trim around the edges of just transperancy(wood color/look). Made here by hand in the U.S.A. 24 good ol' frets. two humbuckers- V7 V8 and a PIEZO pickup on the Lo Pro TRS!!!! The best Floyd Rose licensed locking tremelo out there fitted with cutting edge L.R. Baggs piezo pickup for on the fly switching to acoustic guitar-that's right electric guitar with warm beautiful acoustic sound and response. The neck on this is one of my personal favorites, i had no idea what to expect because when i got this it was order only and i have a rg520 w/a wizard neck on it which is very thin and fast and a little wide. On the rg2020 since its prestige it has a prestige wizard neck-it is basically like my other except its not as thin and a little smaller in width, and instead of the gloss they usually cover the back of the fret board with this has been sanded(16 different steps it takes to make iit silky smooth). the head stock is a little smaller and the ibanez inlay is mother of pearl and different design than the usual rg's. And the body seems a little thicker, which is nice. One flaw is i play very hard and a chip has arose right by th top of the pickup(because there is no pickguard and i heard i banez has thin coates of paint)Oh and another nice bonus was it comes with LOCKING STRAP holders!! You cant possibly get more features in one guitar-it has another output(thats right two outputs!) so you can run the piezo just by itself or by a press of the button go out of one imput and mix in the piezo with the magnetics!!!!

This guitar has every sound you can ask for!!!! I currently have a Marshall VS102r 2x12 going out of a crybaby, digitech wammy/wah, and boss chorus/phaser/compression-sustainer/eq/digital delay. And it is amazingly quiet. ive run it out of 10 12" speakers basically right by my side with 300 watts pushing and not a scream was heard unless you wanted it. The configuration they use on the 5-way switching is also different than normal(thats ibanez's style) when goint to the 2,3,or 5th slot it will manipulate just one pickup on a humbucker(making it like a single coil) or intermixing the two pickups--the 4th slot almost sound acoustic itself-but nothing likt the piezo just a flick of a switch away which really does sound great.

Prestige Prestige Prestige!!!!!these are the best of the best when it comes to Ibanez and i can see why! the tremelo stays in tune incredibly-usually only has to be fined tuned after big temperature change(like any wooden instument-cause duh wood expands and contracts with hot and cold). like i said above i play very rough and it is amazingly tough to break a string(unlike my other rg! thats why i got this one-to use that one as back up)

This guitar is very durable but still is so beautiful/expensive it doesnt seem to be meant for metal-which i play but i know that i will tear up any guitar and its worth it for the sound and versitillity. Like i said before a little chip has arose but im rough. And the strap locks that come with it are a little long so when i jump a lot of pressure is put on them and the nut itself starts to get loose-im sure if you dont jump of crap and swing it around you wont have a problem

So far ive not had to deal with them-i will see what they say about the paint though.

i've been playing for over 5 years and am in a serious band and this is a very professional guitar-it amazes every guitarist i show which is almost worth the price within itself. i will be upgrading to the Flextone II hd w/floorboard so that all the crap i have i wont have to deal with and the versitillity of that matched to the versitillity of the RG2020 Double Edge- i am KING OF THE WORLD!!!!!HA HA HA HA HA
