I'm not sure what year it was made, maybe 1990. It was made in Korea.
24 frets. It's got one volume, one tone, & a five way selector switch.
The pickup configuration is H/S/H standard stock Powersound passive pickups. Body wood is basswood, neck is maple with rosewood fretboard. Finish is "moon shadow", or black as its also known as. It's got that strat shape with deeper cut-aways. My guitar is used and for some stupid reason it had a Floyde Rose 2 type tremolo, where you don't have to cut off the ball-ends off, man that thing was the biggest piece of shit, so i installed a Kahler locking floyde, and man you could really tell the difference, I could dive bomb the shit out of it and it would stay in tune fairly well tuners are the stock ones which seem to be fine (doesn't really matter since it's got a locking nut). The neck is a wizard style 25 1/2 inches and has 24 jumbo frets its preaty thin and fast, i like it. I give it an 8 with the new/used Kahler Floyde.

Sound : 8
It suits my musical style just fine which is Heavy FUCKIN' Metal and I'm talkin' about real metal you know the '80s shit: Metallica, Dokken, Skid Row, Poison, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, etc...; Also classic rock like AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Hendrix, .38 Special, The Cars; Blues stuff like Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, Clapton. Oh, and Christian Rock for when I'm playing at church.
I'm currently using my cousin's Kustom KGA16 16 watt amp w/Celestion Super 8 8" inch speaker and Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, I also have a Kustom KGA10 10 watt amp but it sounds like shit. It can get noisy if you stand too close to the amp but even then its not too bad. The sound is preaty dark kinda nu-metelish which sucks but then I just turn the Highs and Mids up and the Lows down. The neck pickup has some muddiness to it but its not too bad. This thing can make any sound I want it to make, and has quite a bit of variety. Plus I love the ergonmick neck heel, its a perfect fit.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action when I got it was poor(it was owned by a 13 year old who knows nothing about guitars) so i fixed it. Pickups adjusted fine though I lowered the neck pickup a bit. The bridge was properly routed though for the new/used bridge it had to be widened. No mafor flaws except for nicks and scratches that occur with regular use, but my guitar tech at Music-Go-Round said i needed the neck shimmed a bit.
Oh ya, my cousin's older brother put on cream pickup rings and put them on backwards, the thicker one on the neck and the thiner one on the bridge, so switched them,

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar will and does withstand live playing, givin' its only like 15-20 minutes about once a month. The hardware seems like it will last quite a while. The finish seems good enough to last. The strap buttons are solid enough but I want to get strap locks anyway. I think I can depend on it, I haven't had any najor problems with it yet. Personally I would never gig without a backup, especially since its got a Floyde, but since I can't afford another guitar I would and do use it on a gig without a backup. I need to get some Seymour Duncan or Rio Grand pickups in this thing, then it would really scream.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I got this guitar used so there isn't any warranty and I have never called them for anything. But I always go to the guys at Music-Go-Round with my questoins anyway and Worm and Travis definately get a 10 in my book.

Overall Rating : 8
I'v been playing for about two and a half years now. The only other gear that I own is the 10 watt amp and the Metal Zone. If it were lost or stolen I would be shit outta luck 'cause I don't have any money nore a job, but i would probably buy a better Ibanez or something in the shape of an Explorer. Explorers are fucking awsome, they just scream '80s heavy metal. My favorite feature is definately the Floyde Ilove dive bombing that thing it sounds so cool, I've wanted a guitar with a floyde and i finally have one I wish I had a white Gibson Explorer with the mirror pickguard and a nice Marshall Full stack, that would be sweet.

1) What year was it made? Where was is made?
2002, korea.

2) How many frets?
24, jumbo frets

3) Solid-Top? Laminated top?
Laminated top.

4) Which controls are given?
One volume, one tone knob, 5-way pk selector.

5) Pickup conf?
H/S/H, ibanez PS1 & PS2. Passive.

6) Body and neck woods?
well... american basswood for body, fretboard is made of rosewood.
finish is blue jewel (very good looking!)

7) Body stile?
Ibanez RG. The best body i've ever seen. Period.

8) Bridge style?
Some crap-halfway-between-floydrose-shaller piece of chromed metal.

9) Tuners?
Ibanez stock. I think are used in all ibanez series (from "shit" to "heaven").

10) Any included accessories?
You must be kidding... I only got some shitty allen wrenches (they broke in two weeks) and a "horrible" piece of junk called "cable"...

EIGHT... just for the price paid.

Sound : 7
Suits my stile very well. Yeah... Ok. It should. RG are made to rock, cut and crush. At least in their mind. I play mostly hard-rock and metal. Both old school (so, notice, i play seriously, not that rubbish-like music they call nu-metal).
I played (since now) it through an homebrew 7watt class-A valve amp.
One EL84, 10" jensen alnico speaker, and one channel: two 12ax7 with 4 gain stages (last it was a catode follower).
It had so much gain, that it was impossible to play it clean. Tons of feedback, and very loud. Much more than that piece of shit called Marshall. But good things dont last long, and it broke two weeks ago. Last day i ordered a H&K Tour reverb 100watt and it will blow my little "hi-octane" away. I think i will teach my neighbourhood some basic concepts of LOUDNESS...
Well... It's not that noisy, or as someone here says. Well the s.c. it's a bit noisy when you sit near the loudspeaker, but @ two meters you'll hear nothin'. Try to lower that fuckin volume knob if you like to play litterally into the amp case!

Rich/Full sound? Bright sound?

Mmm... it sounds like a 400? rock guitar. no more no less. Good for distorted/lead sounds. If you want better sound you have to pay more. Period. Quality dislikes cheapness in this fu**** world.
Well, if you have been playing for more than two years with a crap-imitation-strat, i think you'll like this guitar.

SEVEN! I Think I'm Gonna Try DiMarzio P.ups

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
At first, the action was very high. Much more than my not-that-cheap-gibson sg'61-replica. So i lowered the strings turning a few times (two or three) the bridge screws. Well, it's much better now. Then i changed pickup's height. The neck one was lowered a lot. I lost some volume but i gained sustain. The bridge one was raised a bit (JUST a bit) and i think now distortion it's slightly better. I'm gonna try some other settings as soon my new amp arrives.
And now... the worst thing on this guitar. THE BRIDGE.
I dont use tremolo a lot, but when i use it, it doesnt return to the proper pitch. I have to do it by hand. And when you're doing some FAST licks ("Black Sheep" intro&solo by Sonata Arctica may be a good example) it's a pain in the ass!
On the other side it keeps tuning very good.
I've also opened the back to see if there is some space for an homebrew (yeah! i love doing things by myself!!!) preamp/booster. So i saw the mess ibanez did here... Wiser not say... They could use heatshrink tubes to cover soldered contacts, at least!!!

SEVEN! I'm gonna redo all internal wirings by myself and change the bridge (or bridge springs).

Reliability/Durability : 8
Will this guitar withstand live playing?
Yes. I think it will. I mean just playing... if you want to mess around the stage, hit the people down with your axe or kill your drummer (maybe becouse he is louder than your "awesome" AVT100 marshall) during play. No it wont last a minute. But if you want to do something like that, you better buy a guitar made of CONCRETE instead of a wood one. OR MAYBE a TRUE battle axe (you know... made of steel, hard, heavy...).
Yes, i can depend on it. I only would use a backup because of broken strings. You cant know when your "e" string decide it's time to say goodbye...
Finish... well... it's another pain in the ass. I like a lot my axe color and now it's full of scratches... shit! Also the neck wood seems happy to absorb everything... i have to clean my hands every 5 minutes. I also changed my nut bolt with a better one. The stock one wasn't very good.

EIGHT! Next guitar will have a natural flat finish...

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for 2years and a half. I'm a (quite) good guitar player. I've owned a zoom 9000 (it failed one year ago), an EKO DV-10 which was a good guitar but it was very HEAVY. I've tried many amps but none makes me cry like my new H&K.
If it were stolen i will torture the thief until death, using fire, water, whips, knives and so on... Couse it's my only axe at the moment!
I choosed my RG270 between a ibanez SA260, Yamaha RGX420, Ibanez RG470 (better bridge but p.ups are quite the same), fender strat standard, epiphone les paul black beauty. If i could turn back time i would buy the SA260. I later realized i dont need the extra two frets and a locking tremolo. And the overall finish quality was better on the SA260.
Remember. If you are an experienced player and dont want to waste money, dont buy it. Save your money.
If you're upgrading from a shitty-crappy guitar and you don't have much money, well this rating is for you: EIGHT!

'01 Ibanez RG 270 - black, superstrat shape, rosewood fretboard w/24 frets, H/S/H pu config, Floyd Rose-style tremolo, vol/tone controls and 5-way pu-switch.
It's got the features that you need in a rock-guitar.

Sound : 7
I use it in three different setups: 1) A Marshall VS100R 2)A Marshall MG15CDR 3)A Digitech RP100 with headphones. I play rock, from pop-rock to metal, and it can do it all, especially the harder stuff. I only use the bridge and the neck pu's - the other positions are quite noisy. The bridge position is fine when i'm rocking away at low volume, but when i'm playing with the band I find the sound it produces too piercing and thin - no good if you're not playing metal. The neck position is much better, it gives a more full sound - I would like it to be a little fatter though, but as it is it's by far the most versatile pu on the guitar. I usually use the tone control to adjust the sound.
I guess the H/S/H configuration makes the guitar quite versatile soundwise, but I almost only use the neck pu. The overall sound is ok, it doesn't take you to cloud 9, but it does the job well. The sound never drowns in the noise when playing with the band, it stands out very well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was set up at the shop when i bought it, but I have since lowered the action a little. The black finish was nice and shiny at the beginning, but now it has a thousand small scrathes, and it works like a magnet on dust and fingerprints - i don't even bother to clean it up, it looks the same again five minutes after you've polished it. Other than that the only problem I've had was the "head" of the pu switch, which fell of, and crappy soldering in the jack-input, which I had to fix.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Like so many others have said before me - never gig without a backup. I'm sure this guitar would withstand liveplaying, and if you treat it right it'll probably play for many years. I've only had it for a year, so I can't tell for sure though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Ibanez.

Overall Rating : 8
This is i great guitar for beginners and intermediate players, and I guess it could do as a backup for more experienced players as well. It's easy to play, it sounds ok and it's fairly priced - I don't regret having bought it, but on the other hand it's definitely not going to be the last guitar for me, I'm still looking for the perfect one...

I bought it in 2001. Still playing it and it's fantastic. Well, the floyd is kind of annoying in the beginning but you get used to it. You have to select the perefect action (string height) for you to get good sound out of the guitar. Also the right amplifier is needed.

It has volume and tone control. That's enough for me. Full tone and full volume, while the effect pedal and amp EQ is set as I wanted to be.

Passive electronic, but good.

It has jumbo frets, which make slidings easier.

In the standard you'll be given a set for repair, tremolo, and guitar of course!

Sound : 8
Nice sound, but not the best. Well it's enough for me.

I use it on Boss MT-2 and Laney TF300.

I play metal and it's good for it, but it's not good for playing some soft rock or pop/rock. It's too grim.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Action was low and I didn't like it. Factory strings sucked pretty much.

Pickups were good.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Good for live playing, yes. Played on rehearsals and one gig, and it survived.

Yes, without a backup.

Straight forward rg design, mine was made in 2001, finished in metallic blue. pickups are H/S/H. 24 fret, wide fretboard. Different to higher model rgs because the 270 only has a single locking floyd rose. This means that it is only locked at the neck and not at the bridge. Doesnt seem to make too much difference as this guitar never goes out of tune.

Sound : 10
My style is rock grunge punk and metal. And this guitar does does well to cope with them all. Not as nice as a strat on clean but when distortion is on this guitar is amazing. It gives a full sound especially in positions 1 and 5. I run mine through a marshall valvestate 100w amp.
ON setting 2 and 4 there is some slight background noise but this is due to the single coil pickup. In the other positions this guitar is noisless.
It gives a full sound which doesnt cut out too many mids. I like playing in position 1 using the bridge humbucker as it gives a bright but still deep sound.
Ths guitar is very versatile and i can say it is a good alternative to an epiphone or a mim strat.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I raised the height of the bridge humbucker to make it louder and this was great.
One slight problem was that the pickups went slightly rusty after a year or so but i just gave them a polish and they seem okay now. This didnt affect the sound though.
Floyd rose is amazing even if it is only a single locking one. Stays in tune for ever.Nicely chromed

Reliability/Durability : 10
Yes i am in a band and i have had this guitar in the studio twice and have played live without a back up a many times.
hardware is great i have bashed it around a bit and it stands up well.
strap buttons are solid.
I can depend on it totally.

havent dealt.no problems

I have been playing for nearly 4 years. I purchased this guitar about 2 years ago. It was an upgrade from my squier strat. And i was totally amazed, its such an improvement on the squier. No back ground noise or squeals and the humbuckers give such a full sound.
If this was stolen i would definately buy another one but maybe a 470 or 550.
I love the floyd rose and how it never goes out of tune.
If i could have one thing i would like to have a chrome scatch plate on it like some higher rg models.but hey you cant have everything it was only 300 bucks.
If your a beginner looking for your first guitar or your second i would say buy this becasue it kicks ass. There are not enough good things I can say about it.
If you have a fender try this guitar and you will feel real distortion and full sound.
It just too good for the price.

2002 Korean made, 24 jumbo frets, fully BLACK finish, 2 controls and a 5-way switch for ibanez chrome humbucker pickups. Beautiful Basswood for body. Beautiful, cool and slick shape for a guitar. Floyd Rose bridge style. Double trem locking system, this guitar never goes out of tune.

Sound : 9
Sound is great. You could shift from a clean (close to acoustic) sound to a full-on heavy distorted sound. Just what I need for my music (heavy metal). This guitar amazingly suits all different kinds of amp and effects and gives you a variety of sounds (from cool bluesy to heavy metallic). The only dislike is that it produces noise sometimes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Excellent packaging.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I bought this guitar last year and not a single string was broken while I played (and I play pretty harsh...) Looks like it would last a life time. It is relativelt heavy though and kinda tough to jump around stage with. I would definitely have a backup, preferably a Jackson guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not needed any repairing so far.

Overall Rating : 10
This is definitely my number one guitar. I also own a Les Paul and a Jackson Kelly. But this guitar gives me the cool look and supplies me with the evil sound that I need for heavy metal. If it was stolen or lost I would surely get another one, but with a custom paint job this time.

Made 2002, Korea, 24 frets, I'm pretty sure it's a laminated top. It has 1 Volume control, 1 Tone control and a 5 way selector switch. Pickups are Ibanez Powersound, I have replaced with Bill Lawrence, because I need to keep my main sound :)

The electronics in my RG-270 were passive. The finish is a solid Moon Shadow color. The body style is similar to a squared off stratocaster. The bridge is a Floyd Rose Licensed DOUBLE locking tremolo, as opposed to the older models which were single locking. Tuners are non locking, but has the locking nut, so I guess it doesn't matter. 25.5 scale, thin neck. Comes with allen wrenches and tremolo arm.

Sound : 8
This suits my music style very well, which is REAL metal (not nu-metal shit), I use it with a Marshall AVT-150 Half stack, it's not too noisy to my ears, and even with stock pickups, it gave a nice balanced tone. This guitar has a lot of variety, thanks to the 5 way selecter.

Only thing I dislike about this guitar is that the tremolo amp likes to come loose, as do the strap buttons =]

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was setup good at the factory, it was playable, in tune, and sounded great. The pickups were adjusted nice and high, like I like em. The guitar didn't seem to contain any flaws, but I will make an update if I find any.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar WILL withstand live playing, the hardware will last, the fnish will last, the strap buttons may need replacing, and I would NEVER EVER gig without a backup..
