All of the basic, standard stock hardware. just read the other reviews, cause it the same as those. Mine is a jewel blue color, with little sparkelies in it. The one thing that sucks is i bought this guitar new, but it didnt come with a tremolo bar, so i had the guy at the music store give me one, i wasn't about to get ripped off, haha. anyway, the bar he gave me was way too long, and too loose, cause it rattles the hole when u have it in. I cut the rubber thing on the end off, and filed it down some, and it looks killer, but is still a little loose, oh well...

Well, this guitar is porbably best suited for rock/punk and mostly nu-metal sound. It gives a good crunch with distortion, but i think thats about all this guitar can offer. It does give a nice, warm clean tone with the bridge humbucker, and a more edgey sound with the single coil in the middle, but the neck pickup is not very good, and is muddy, and lacks any mid or high end output. although the other pickups are alright, i really am disapointed in the fact that it is hell trying to get harmonics/pinch harmonics out of it, the high edge i expected is just not there, very dissapointing, and something ibanez should fix. This really makes it hard to do any metal solos, and whatever, but if you want to play the nu-metal crap, this guitar is for you. trust me, there are other guitars out there, and if you think this is the best one, then i suggest upgrading the pickups at least, to something with a higher edge, these are just too flat, and bassy.
Action, Fit, & Finish

this guitar was to say the least, poorly set up. when i brought it home, it was out of tune, and trust me, it is NOT easy to set up/tune a floyd rose tremolo system thingy. After many hours of sh*tting bricks, and angry frustration, i was able to set the spring tention just right, and get it all up to tune. it is easier to do once you figure it out, but i had no idea how to at first. once i got everything set up, strings and all, it was good to go. the action was low, the way i liked it, but i got buzz from the frets, which sucks. i then raised the bridge, and it the action was way too high, so. i keep it as low as i can without getting much buzz, but i would definately prefer it lower. i dont know much about the pickups being adjusted or anything, but they are very wobbly, and move around much. other than the hardware, the guitar looks sweet, a killer blue color. the two things though, that piss me off, and im sure, a lot of other people, are the fact that, if you accidentaly BUMP this thing the wrong way, you will scratch it, so be careful when u are adjusting anything with a tool, i learned this the hard way;( the finish could DEFINATELY be more durable, and also, you get many fingerprints with this baby, cause it is dark blue, but i guess that cant be helped. overall i am dissapointed, because i was left to do most of the adjusting to myself, and beleive me, setting up a floyd rose is a pain in the ass, and i will most likely be getting a new guitar somethime in the future without one.
Reliability/Durability

so far this guitar has been OK. i will list the things wrong with it, and good with it.
PROS
-once you get it in tune, it stays
-'dive-bombing' doesnt throw it out of tune
-good rock/nu-metal sound
-bridge humbucker gives a good crunch
-warm acoustic tone
CONS
-finish is thin, scratches easy
-the tone pot is crackly, and doesnt seem to do anything
-the tuners are loose
-the input jack becomes loose a lot
-neck humbucker is muddy, and basicly useless
-near impossible to get pinch harmonics
-lacks treble/high end sound.
-cannot drop D without retuning the whole bridge(pain in the ass)
-have to re-setup the bridge if you put on different strings.
-need an allen wrench to re-string it
-when 'dive bombing' the sustain is cut off
-very little sustain
-some more little problems, but i wont list, i think the other posts can summarize it

i have been playins about a year. i am very sorry that i traded in my fender strat for this guitar, and would trade back if i had the chance. my fender definately had more sustain, and better harmonics, but was also noisy with distortion. i loved my fender though, only because you could re-string it without any tools, or whatever, with the ibanez, you need wire cutters to cut the ball ends off the string, an allen wrench to secure them to the bridge, and the same wrench to unlock the locking nut, which is a pain in the ass. i miss the days of just loosening the string, taking it out, and puttin in the new one. the tuning beccame off every day or so, but so what, at least you could drop D it, or other things without spending 30 minutes retuning the entire bridge. yes, i definately prefer a fender strat over this. if it were stolen, i would be pissed, because i dont have much money, and probly wouldnt be buying another guitar anytime soon, but i would save up, and get something very good, such as a les paul. i wish i could get my fender back, but i cant, haha, i learned this lesson the hard way i will just have to stick with the ibanez for a while. i wish it had better pickups, because i am dissapointed with the ones it came with,. i wish the floyd rose tremolo was easier., it is a good idea, but i think fender trems are better, becuase even if you yank it around a bit, it doesnt throw the tuning off all that much, and its easy as cake to re-tune it. definately look artound before buying this guitar, trust me. even if it sounds good, but you have no idea what a floyd rose tremolo is, IT IS A PAIN IN the ass. buy a guitar that is easy to operate as well, not just because it sounds good. i made this mistake. i had no idea what i was buying, but it sounded good, BIG MISTAKE. think about it before you buy it/ i think the floyd rose is a pain in the ass, and would definately get something like a fender in stead.

Read below, but just for reference, mine's in silver! It's pretty standard stuff, but there's nothing that i wish was on it that it doesnt have (other than a "made by PRS" sticker...)

For a 300 pound guitar, its not really right to expect it to hold its own against a Tom Anderson; you get what you pay for. As a beginner, it suited me perfectly. It can do decent takes on most kind of rock/metal/punk sounds, but its not exceptional in any area. Its certainly warm, which is a plus in my eyes, as its generally required for heavy stuff, which is undoubtedly where this guitar is aimed. The bottom end is quite round and full, and muddiness is always an issue; as much the fault of the basswood body as the pickups, i think. The tone control is effective, but maybe the pots are rated too low, the guitar could definitely do with some brightening up. Having said that, there is definitely a lot of variety to be had with the basic set up.
Put plainly, its a "jack of all trades, master of none" (!). Its something that will satisfy beginners fully, but leave more experienced players wanting something more versatile.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action was a bit high for my liking, but it took no time to change thanks to the floyd style bridge. The lead input jack was loose, but it only took a twist with a wrench to sort that one out.

I guess if i took this as my live guitar, id end up holding a maple neck, with a bit of mush that was once a body. Its that soft. Its fine for pretending to be a rockstar in front of the mirror, so long as thats as far as it goes... The strap buttons havent caused me any trouble so far, but i wouldnt like to test them. The body's prone to denting, but thats not the fault of ibanez, its just basswood is notoriously soft. There are a couple of finish cracks, but that was me being clumsy, and it couldnt really be expected to withstand that. As far as the hardware goes, i havent had any problems in terms of quality, and the control pots and PU selector have been fine.

I bought it new in august 2001 from local Ibanez dealer. Made in Korea. It has 24 Jumbo frets, Wizard II neck, Basswood body, Chrome hardware, Jewel Blue finish, 5 way pickup selector, Volume and Tone controls.
It has Ibanez Powersound pickups at H-S-H configuration. Standard bridge is Single Lock tremolo where strings are blocked only at nut. With this bridge strings was breaking quite often (caused by finger and tremolo bends). Strings E1 and H2 was breaking at end of ball. I've replaced it to Lo TRS II double locking bridge. Now I don't have this problem - I cut off the ball and block string in bridge. Also tuning is more stable with Lo TRS II than Single Lock.
Sound

I like Instrumental rock (Satriani-my first guitar idol, Vai and others), Ghotic, Electronic music. I liked sound of my RG at beggining but now I can see that I can't find my own sound. I am thinking about changing pickups to DiMarzio (I like Breeds). Single pickup is very noisy with distortion and I use it only for clean sounds. Neck humbucker is muddy when you want to get fat dynamic sound. When I select neck hum and set tone correctly I can get sound that lets me play "For The Love Of God" but it's still poor substitution for DiMarzios sound. Bridge humbucker is better cause it's not that muddy. But again - signal is too weak, to little harmonics. I think that when I'll replace pickups this guitar will get it's personality. Now it's just one of many guitars with common sound.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:4
This is the main problem with Ibanez. Factory guitar set-up was terrible. Very VERY high action - almost unpossible to play fast solos. When I lowered the bridge strings started to buzz. I gave back guitar to specialist for setting it up and he polished frets and nut so now I have really nice action and no fret buzz. Plastic part of pickup selector was falling from metal part but it's not big deal - just a drop of glue fixed that.
Reliability/Durability
:8
Well, I didn't have problems with this guitar after changing bridge and setting it up correctly. Finish is OK (but it's dark so fingerprints are visible). I think that first scratch is the biggest pain but as far as I used it seems to be quite durable. I can depend on it.

I've been plaing for 4 years, I also own korean Strat copy, ZOOM 505 multieffect, play on H&K 60W amp. I use some delay/echo effects from external delay device to get a space in my sound. If it were stolen I would buy another Ibanez but a higher model - used RG5xx or Ibanez EDR470. I wanted to buy EDR (very comfortable body - looks almost like JS) but I couldn't find any. I wish it had better pickups and I'm going to make my wish come true. I know that my replacements wouldn't make a JEM from my guitar but if I look at price of JEM and my RG + replacements I think it's worth.

The Ibanez RG 270 has H/S/H Powersound configuration,
Floyd Rose floting trem,
1 Volume and 1 Tone Pot,
Is made out of Basswood,
Locking Nuts,
and all the usual features.
It is great to play and a joy to listen too. Mine is the jewel blue finish and it looks stunning! If you have been play Fenders all your life the neck will take some getting use too because it is bigger and the frets are higher but otherwise GREAT!

It gives a great sound though my Carlsbo amp but I have changed the pickups to Invaders!:-) Before I did this the sound was Great with new strings! Once the strings got abit worn then the sound became rather trebley. Apart from that no complaits. Great sound!
P.S. Try upgrading to Invaders WOW

Here is where this great piece of equipment was let down abit. First of all the bridge wasnt right and it required abit of attention. The volume and Tone pot were both loose. The input jack was loose. Some of the wires inside were very badly soldered. The tuning pegs were also loose. I excepted abit more from Ibanez. Once all these were sorted out it was a sex machine! I would definalty gig with it without a backup!
One other comment is if you are not going to use a floyd rose dont buy one! You won't be able to tune down or drop D properly without altering the bridge which is a really pain in the crack.

2001? Ibanez RG 270. Made in Korea like most Ibanez guitars though im pretty sure each Ibanez is set-up in the US. Jumbo fret 24 fret slim and thin Wizard 2 neck which I have to say is one of the best easiest playing neck I have ever used. There is easy access to all 24 frets which is a real plus, the RG body is one of the best bodies I have ever seen not in looks but in playability and comfort. The wood is either Basswood or bubinga, 5 piece Maple Neck and dark rosewood fretboard. 1 Tone and 1 volume and the knobs are pretty damn good, Ibanez did not go cheap in that department. 5 way selector, Pickups are a H/S/H config. Pickups are stock Ibanez Powersound pickups and there not that bad at all and actually pretty good. Satin High gloss black finish, so fingerprints show up easy thats pretty much the only downfall of this guitar. This guitar has a single-locking LICENSED Floyd Rose, heres the interesting thing about a single locking trem, the strings are locked at the nut but not the bridge so string changes are easier but not neccessarily simple. I like the Floyd Rose because it stays in tune very well and tuning adjustments are quick and simple. No accessories are given with Ibanez Guitars, but thats understandable. This Ibanez isnt so much in the features or the materials, but the quality of how they were put together makes it a whole different guitar.

This RG is one thing Versatile! I read in other reviews of people saying its good for Metal and punk, if you havent noticed that two sides of the spectrum. I love the way this guitar can sound airy and light like a strat, then really shred even with the stock pickups. The powersound are quiet and above average in the output. But I like one thing about them that you can't find in many "stock" pickups. They can play clean very well and distorted very well also. There not noisy at all no hum even on the single coil. I play this guitar clean and it sounds almost as good as an acoustic, I kick in distortion and I get a total screaming axe. Theres really no sound you can't get from this guitar. Look at the numerous styles of professional artists playing RG's. From Offspring to Staind, there is really no style this guitar hasn't been used in. The ONLY thing I might do is change the pickups in about 2 years, to something better sounding like Dimarzio evolution.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
This guitar was well setup when I bought it but Im pretty sure the store where I bought it set it up as well. The action is nearly perfect just ever so slightly low so ill raise it a hair. The pickups were perfect though I might wnt to raise them to see if I can increase output. The Floyd was perfect no problems there. The setup was very well cant say Ibanez doesnt check their instruments because you can tell that they did.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is slight but not too light. And Yea Im pretty sure it would stand live playing like all ibanez's can. The hardware is of good quality no problems there. Finish is alright, probably will want to get a custom paint job in 2 years, thats just my taste. Strap buttons are what you would expect, middle of the road. Im not sure If I would use it without a backup because if you dont your stupid cause theres gonna be one time when something goes wrong.

My other gear is a strat which sits lonely in the corner. My favorite part of this guitar is the versatility and quality in the sound and the comfort of it. Everything is just what it should be no shortcuts. This guitar is exactly what it should be, and intermediate guitar not a beginner but just out of the range of some of the more expensive models out there. This guitar i sexactly worth the mney you pay for it $300 and sometimes less. Theres no guitar that can beat it in thi price range for what you get and the quality within it. It might not so be in the materials, but the quality and worksmanship that goes into Ibanez guitars. I am now ibanez for life.

My guitar was made in Korea about half a year ago. It's got a Basswood body, Wizard II Neck (fairly fat..), Jumbo frets, single-lock floating tremolo (Floyd Rose licensed). I got mine in black. It's got a 5-way selector, one volume, one tone, H/S/H config: passive powersound humbuckers and single coil. This is probably classified as a strat-style body w/ Ibanez's personal touch (sharper edges, etc.) It has a contoured back, which makes it extra comfy. If you're lookin' for a decent guitar for the money (I spent too much, but that's what you get for being able to play it first..) that has a floating tremolo, this is it.
Sound
:5
It suits my music styles (anywhere from Ozzy to incubus to even Sevendust, and lots of clean) pretty well.. I picked this guitar up because I liked the clean. If you set up the humbuckers right and use 'em with the single coil you can get some really nice clean tones. I play mine thru a fender 38W amp which is pretty decent. I also play it through a Korg AX1500G and a DOD Grunge Distortion Pedal. Personally, I only like the sound when its in the 2 and 4 position (except for heavier stuff, I go all humbucker for that, 2 and 4 mix the humbucker w/ the single coil, creates a better tone). It does lack a certain warmth, but then again it does keep the tone clean and unmuddled (for the most part). Occasionally though playing a lot of chords that have a decent amount of the bass in them will start to muddle up if you're trying to keep it clean w/ all humbucker and no single coil(neck and bridge). But you can probably just swap out the bridge 'bucker and be good to go.
Now that I've praised it, its on to the uglier part. Sustain. The sustain on this guitar is *horrible*. It doesn't last at all. I use the comp/sustain on my korg to keep it decent but its not that great. This is attributed to the basswood body and the floating tremolo. Even when played open it doesn't last long which can be bad for those sustaining solos(or tapping). But I think you can go from some good metal tones to some very nice clean for this guitar's price range. Probably one of the best values.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:6
I think this guitar was resetup by my dealer because the floating tremolo was *perfect* and the strings were brand new (.009-.042. I use .009-.046 now). The pickups were just in the standard position, I adjusted them myself. My guitar had a paint problem near my tone/volume knobs where it looked like it just got splotched a bit... I'll live. This was meant to be beat on.
Reliability/Durability
:7
I think if you're not gonna use the tremolo, blocking it up would be GREAT! Restringing is a snap (once thats done) and I intend to get it blocked. I've beat this guitar fairly bad and its withstood its falls. The cord-input has been dropped on numerous times, its a little loose now, but it still works (nothing $5 can't fix..). However, the tuners are rather wobbly, probably need to be replaced, and I swapped out my guitar strap knobs for locking ones because this guitar LOVES to fall off the strap. Having this tremolo means when you break a string, it doesn't break you. It just pops out the back and no harm is done. If you gigged with this in one tuning w/ the tremolo locked down, you're golden. No need to tune. It stays, period. Fine tuners work just fine and it goes off very little. However, you could depend on this guitar to get you through. Gigging w/out a backup is never an option so.... not even with a PRS.

I've been playing for 3 years and think myself not too bad (2 years nylon-string acoustic method, 1 year rhythm electric playing..). I was naive to electrics when I bought this and I wish I knew about the floating tremolo because YOU *CANNOT* go from Standard to Drop C and BACK. It just won't stay in tune. You have to pick a tuning and stay within a half step of that (you can drop d, thats nothing big, but dropping all the strings will not be good at all). I wish I had known that. If it were stolen, I'd probably get a guitar with a stop tail and now that I ahve more money, probably in a higher price range. I think this is a great guitar for the money if you know what you're getting in to, but if you don't, go with something safer that has a hard tail or a normal tremolo. the floaters SUCK. But, I once again to reitterate, I LOVE THE CLEAN. Love it! it's awesome! it's got a pretty good tonal range and the tone knob DOES work folks (you can tell, you can get very mellow to very bright) I compared this toa couple jackons(same price range) because those were everything that was there (played 'em and stuff, I didn't know too much about guitars back then), but in the end I liked this guitar's clean and playing a lot better. It just felt right. But once I get this guitar's trem blocked it's going to be my baby and I'm gonna treat it exxxxxtra special. Thanks guys.

1 thing has to be said first- the single coil pickup is almost unuseable because of noise. which doesnt realy matter because the 2 double coils can make almost all sounds that i use (punky distorted, occasional clean bits) i only have a TERRIBLE sounding 12w marshall valvestate amp, but when i tried the guitar in the shop i used a large fender combo that looked like it had a whole effects box stuck in it, it made me sound 100% better & im sure 2 upgrade my amp soon.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is almost perfect, if a bit high for soloing at 17+ frets. the lower strings sound more dominant over the lower ones in chording, although slight adjustment can solve this. Im not sue about the floyd rose & locking nut, the tremolo is very sensitive and i have kept the nut unlocked since i got it because i dont like using the tuners on the tremolo. Using the arm like u got the shakes doesnt knock it out of tune too bad tho. tThe finish came absolutely perfect exept for a tiny bit of wear on the lower cutaway, right on the sharp bit, and u cant notice it unless you are VERY close, i cant find any other flaws execpt the plastic bit on the end of the pickup selector switch fell off!!! nothing a bit of superglue cant handle.

i would definately use this guitar live if i changed the pickups to something more proffesional, di'marzios sound great. the suspended bridge looks like it could be trouble in a few years, but i only got it a week ago so i wouldnt know! it feels pretty reliable, but fingermarks show up VERY much, so u gotta keep those grubby mitts clean. great for the price mind

I own an RG-270 and it kept me happy for quite a while. I am only selling it for a new sound/look, not because it fell apart or anything. The Floyd-Rose is definitally a pain in the ass, but maybe its just me. I also think the black metal knobs are cool. Theres no unique or outstanding features, but the things just fine anyway.
Sound
:7
The sound suited my music style early on (when I played metal/rock) but, now I am playing more punk and its pretty much only good for muted power chords. I sometimes use a small danelectro black coffee metal distortion pedal, but that was a long time ago. The guitar is realtivly noisey (not too bad). But some noise is good I suppose when you are playing metal/rock. I usually play with both knobs on ten and the switch all the way down. That gives you the best sound, if you want a deeper basier tone put the tone back up and the switch all the way up. The sound is a metal rock sound perfect for playing 80's rock style music (which insn't very helpful in year 2001-lol). I havn't gt the guitar to play well clean, theres always a hum and the sounds too high pitch. So, keep it distorted and keep rockin'! My rating is based on the ability to play as a rock/metal guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The thing was ready to play when i bought it. The only problem I had was some loose screws and the nut around the input was a little loose. nothing i couldn't fix in about 2 minutes. Besides that, it was great. It looked great too, shimering black.

I think this guitar would do pretty good playing live although I havn't used it (unless you count concerts for family memebers in your attic). The harware will surely last. The finish seems pretty durable also. The strap buttons are very solid, allthough my strap keeps slipping off (i had a few close calls). I know it is a problem with the strap though, not the guitar. I can depend on this guitar and I would probably use it on a gig without a backup.

I have been playing for about 6 years and have only owned one other guitar besides this guitar. The RG-270 being the better one undoubtedly. I plan on selling the guitar however so I can have some money for a new one. Only because I have owned it for so long I am ready for a more expensive guitar (and a new look/sound). I wish I would have tried before I bought, maybe I would have realized it wasn't the right guitar for the sound I wanted. If it was stolen or lost I would probably try to find it so I could have some money when I trade it in, but if I couldn't I would not buy a new one. I compared it with many other guitars and it wasn't as good, yet for the price range this guitar is most likely the best. I don't really wish it had anything because I am going to sell it anyway. I do recomend this guitar for young players who enjoy playing in the style of: AC/DC, Kiss, Metallica, etc. Have fun! -Rob
