See my previous review. This is an update and a 'goodbye' review, since tomorrow I'm going to go and trade it for an Ibanez SC220. It's not that I don't like the RG anymore, I just like the S-Classic a lot more (for starters, it has a fixed bridge, mahogany body and a much more comfortable neck). I have owned the RG for almost three years.

I got into this pickup-changing thing and tried DiMarzios, EMGs and Duncans (in that order). A few days ago I put the stock pickups back in because I wouldn't get much for the Duncans in the trade, and damn... I like the stock pickups better than any of the replacements I tried! Just goes to prove that if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it unless you really know what you are doing.
Nowadays I also use a much better amp than when I bought the RG. Then I had a Park G10, now I have a Tech 21 Trademark 60.
The bridge pickup (V8) has well defined and powerful crunch (without overdoing it) and the neck (V7) is smooth and fat for soloing and some clean sounds. The split 2nd & 4th positions are good, but the middle singlecoil is pretty bad by itself. So if you make the mistake of buying an H-S-H RG instead of H-H one, do replace the singlecoil with a Kinman (or Duncan) if you ever intend to use it.

Not a single problem. I did manage to put a few scratches in it, but nothing that would be visible from more than a meter away.

Well, I had something of a love/hate relationship with the RG. I never liked the tremolo and somehow the RG feels big (I'm 172cm/70kg, so it's probably not just me). I haven't measured and I doubt it's actually any bigger than your average strat, but it FEELS big and somewhat awkward for rhythm playing. Very nice for lead playing, though, and of course that's what it was designed for. I did eventually get used to the huge frets, but I still like them a bit smaller (thinner anyway).
Initially I really loved the ultra-thin neck, but I've found it is actually a little fatiguing for my hands (or maybe it's just that while the neck is thin, it is also wide). Also, the flat 17" radius is not a bonus on the lower frets (but very nice when you go above the 12th fret).
As much as I dislike tremolo-bridges, I'm probably going to miss the string locks. You can tune the RG once, play heavy palm-muted stuff every day and do outrageous string bendings and check a month later, and it will still be in tune.
I think Ibanez makes very good medium-priced guitars. I personally think they are slightly better than the Jacksons in the same price range, but the difference is slight. The Jacksons are prettier, but they tend to have more singlecoils in them, whereas Ibanez now makes the RG in the perfect H-H format. As I said, I think the difference in quality is negligible, so try them all and pick the one that feels the most comfortable to you.

I guess this has been said enough in the previous entries. What i would like to add is that this guitar has a much lower action as compared to most other guitars and that could be good or bad news, depending on the guitarist. For me personally, i rejoice at this! The neck is amazingly small and easy to grip and the wood is really smooth..great for sliding those power and bar chords. (used to get blisters on my thumb with my old guitar) As for the wood used, its really fab. Simply tap on the guitar body and you'll see how much it vibrates. Floyd Rose is very very flexible- pulling it up and down is a breeze and the range is really wide. The finish is the best part. Mine's a grey and silvery finish..which makes it really stand out. Throw in the shiny metal parts and the mirror pickguard and its really a beautiful thing. This guitar really looks beautiful.

I play progressive rock, rock, alternative, jazz and neoclassical. I use a peavey amp and korg effects. Initially, i thought that the sound was pretty thin. After playing awhile more, i realised it was rich and full but yet thin in a certain way. This makes the guitar sound good, but yet very agile. Unlike the typical fender sounds, this guitar sounds really unique. Listen to Petrucci's guitar for a similar sound. As for the pickups, the guitar is pretty versatile. The accoustic sounding pickups sound really rich and full and the last one sounds bright and agile. The first pickup (nearest to you) sounds a little dampened but this is solved by cranking up the distortion.

I guess i've mentioned about alotta this in the features. (by accident!) Well i've tried meddling around with the floyd rose and such and so far its been pretty smooth going. (unlike my old guitar - i totally destroyed it) the Ibanez manual gives much help too - with the measurements for the actions and the gauge of the strings - really useful information. As for the flaws, there was a little scratch in the pickguard but i guess thats insignificant. The guitar is very playable straight from the box and is easy to maintain.

Havent put the guitar to the gig test yet. So far, the guitar parts seem pretty solid and looking good to last. i've yet to drop the guitar (hope that doesnt happen) so can't really determine anything and i've not had the guitar for a time long enough. However, the mirror pickup needs lotsa cleaning as the dirt and grease from your hand gets over it all the time. Tip: Use a newspaper and put a little water on it. Use it to clean the mirror pickup GENTLY and you'll be VERY amazed at the results.

I've been playing for 3 years and i really do find this guitar comfortable. The RG series is really suitable for lead guitar and its sound is really unique. That's what i really love about it. In addition to that, it is really easy to playing and is simply comfortable. Unlike the conventional fender style (and usually boring), ibanez guitars are exciting and unique. They break away from convention and this is found (as usual) in the RG570 guitar. However, if you've not had experience with Floyd Rose bridges, dont try this. Mess around with a cheaper guitar first. It can get rather messy. If i lose this guitar, i'd buy a better one.. but i'd stick to ibanez...mabbe a better RG guitar or a JS/JEM model

It's a 99 24 fret, HSH pickups, 1 volume, and 1 tone control. The pickups are the V7,S1,V8 (5 switch selector) with the Maple 1PC Bubbinga Reinforced thin wizard neck, and a rosewood fret board. It has the Low Pro Floyd Rose all chromed out, and the locking nut. This guitar is the Grey Nickel, which is like a silverish/grey, (no finger prints show up on it) and it is all chromed out. (Looks really sharp)

The pickups had a very high rating, and it's nice to hear the difference in sound when you switch the selector. (some people use to much effects, and you can't hear the difference in any guitar when you switch the selector) I play rock/metal and some jazz, and it does it all nice. (switching the pickups is not a even a consideration.) I use a Roc Pro 1000 head, and 2x12" cabs stacked, with a Metal Zone pedal and a ToneWorks PX2. I play with just the Roc Pro distortion sometimes, and it kicks ass, I am talking pure crisp vintage sound, and when I go clean it get's even better.

When I first got it, it came right out of the box, and the second string had some buzz to it. I took it to RIT music, and had them set it up, the action is even a little lower than the spec recommends, and I get great action with no buzz. This guitar fit's great, and plays smooth as silk. (I go to the music store and goof with other guitars, and say "It doesn't even compare to by Ibanez RG570". The color is the grey nickel I mentioned ealier, and there are a little spot around the center pickup they missed, but the overall guitar with the chrome floyd rose and hardware looks great. (This guitar has the better low pro floyd rose and fine tuners) The pickups don't make much noise at all.

I've had it about a month and a half now, and I have changed the strings about 5/6 times, (I play alot) and with the reinforced bubbinga neck it should last a long time. My cat has knocked over the case 2 times from standing up agaist the wall, and no problems.

I have been playing about 20 years on/off and am getting really serious about my playing, I wanted something nice without over doing it. I was originally looking at a RG470, but fell in love with the reinforced bubbinga neck on the RG570. (The RG570 has the better floyd rose with the snap in wammy, not a screw in, and the neck plays nicer than the RG470) If it were stolen I would have to search and replace it. At this price, you couldn't ask for a better guitar. I played the Peavey Wolfgang with the birds eye maple neck, it was the only guitar that compared, but at $1400.00 dollars forget it.

My guitar is a new old stock guitar, so it has some of the older features. Purchased on-line from a seller. This guitar has the features of a top line guitar at a reasonable price. Japanese-made, 24-jumbo frets, master volume+tone, H/S/H, passive electronics, basswood, rg/strat shape, floyd rose, gotoh tuners, ultra thin and wide Wizard neck, and mine came with a M100C case

I play a lot of heavy, classic, and modern rock. The pickups on this RG is a V1(neck), S1(mid), and V2 (bridge). The sound is clean and works well with distortion. I find it easy to get the right settings because of the versatility. These pickups are not on the newer models, but these really have great tone to them. Awesome for vintage sounds and new rock (much better than my previous all single coil strat).

Well set up, except that the pickup output screws were all set to the lowest position which will need arranging. The finish was absolutely astounding. Though this finish (pearl blue) can be difficult to find in the ibanez series, it is the best blue I have ever seen. The strings needed replacing, I use ernie ball 10's, so I had to adjust the bridge tension to keep it level. Perfectly smooth and adjusted 2-piece maple neck.

This guitar is pretty solid. A great guitar for live stuff. The black hardware may eventually wear off, but that can easily be replaced a long while later. Very thick, strong finish; strong strap buttons; highly dependable (no need for backup)

I've been playing quite a while now (2 years or so) and i've found this to be an incredible guitar. The floyd rose system keeps everything in tune all the time and the pickups are amazing. If stolen or lost I would definately buy this guitar again. For anyone who is considering an ibanez vs. a strat, get the ibanez. Though fender is better known, you will sacrifice quality and sound if you buy from them. I have a standard strat from fender and I can tell you that they don't even come close to Ibanez's quality. They're single coils aren't nearly as versatile as the Ibanez's H/S/H configuration. Thanks Ibanez!

Made in 1999. 24 frets HSH pickup configuratiooonn 1 volume and tone knobs 5 way selector. V7 S1 and V8 passive pickups made by IBANEZ! it is made out of BASSWOOD!!! strat style that is a cool iron pewter FINISH!! that is dark dark gray with a tiny tiny HINT of blue and it is really fattt brotha it has a floyd rose EDGE bridge that is really cool i think is the 2nd best to the lo-pro EDGE but it is great. super thin neck i got it for $646.41 including TAX yall and a SKB hardshell case. it sells for $549 at sam ash which is the cheapest price ive ever seen in my life yo.

it suits my music style great i play limp bizkit and korn and stuff and i dont care about 7 strings cuz they arae too dam expesive and i use a peavey STUDIO PRO 112 with dumb ZOOM 3000s processor. It is kinda noisy on the single coil i guess. it has a nice sound the pickups are pretty good i m not changing them i compared them to EMG 85's and wut the hell i see no difference seriously children its really teh amp that makes ur sound different, pickups contribute to like 10% of your sound and the amp is like 60% or more. It can make a good heavy sound real easy and i love the color and shape and sound and price it is great.

the set up and action sucked and this was my first floyd rose thing i ever owned and i tried lowering the strings but i was doin the wrong thing and the bridge flew up and then i pushed the tremolo down and my high E string broke and i was mad sad but thats ok i fixed everything and now it play s like a dream i guess maybe not i still have to get everything low cuz im not good with this stuff. yeah it had one flaw the tone knob was loose as hell and now i have to bring it back cuz its loose and whenever i turn it it shoots back at 0 so that sux.

i can really depend on this guitar...if it had a fixed bridge but it doesnt so i cant but thats not the dumb guitars fault no i wouldnt use it on a gig without a backup because if u break a string ...haha. the finish is kinda thin i heard but i didnt get any marks on it yet the hardware and everything seems great and the guitar feels solid as hell so are the strap buttons those are solid too i love them they are nice and chunky like a little fat boys boob.

I wish this guitar had one more volume knob for the neck pickup so then i can play tom morello stuff.

The guitar needed set up when I got it. Not a problem for me. This is not a guitar for the easily frustrated or non Mechanically inclined. If you don't know how to work one, DONT BUY A GUITAR WITH A FLOYD ROSE!!! They are a pain in the ass if you dont know the way they work. Everything else is perfect, exept the neck-body joint. I can fit a penny in the gap. Does not reflect on the sound though. It buzzes ever so slightly, only because I play a low action downtuned to drop D

For some reason when dialed in with good strings, this thing will not go out of tune. It does withstand live playing, and finish is covered with stickers so I dont worry about that anyway( I has also been signed by various local artists/friends). I put dunlop strap locks on all my guitars, because dropping them is stupid. I do depend on it and I would play In the middle of a mosh pit without a backup

Its humbuckers aren't noisy at all, with clean sounds it is very bright and nice sounding, on distortion it just plain kicks ass! I really love the sound of this guitar!!!

I meant to put this in my review, but I forgot. Noticing that several people who have reviewed this guitar have had problems setting it up and keeping it in tune, etc, try going to this site for help. www.jemsite.com it is like the ibanez set up bible. Yeah, it primarily deals with jems, but the set up tips will work for pretty much any edge or low pro edge equipped ibanez, especially the rg570 which is almost a jem. this site is really a lifesaver and will help you with all of your ibanez set-up woes!
