This guitar is an RG 570 with a locking tremelo, basswood body and rosewood fingerboard. It is a really cool purple color that changes in the light!

This guitar has a great sound. It features two sets of humbuckers and a single coil-you can get almost anything!

I bought it new. It was made in Japan by people who know what guitars should be built like (yeah uh huh). It has 24 frets it has one volume and one tone. You know all of this stuff if you read any other post. H/S/H config for the pickups. The body is basswood and the neck is maple with a rosewood fretboard and a bubina or something strip for support in the back. It is super strat style and is really pretty. It has an Edge locking trem which I like. I got a hardshell case with it, so that is pretty darn cool huh?

When I first got it I hated how it sounded because I was used to my other guitar (a strat). After playing with it and modifiing it I love it. I am using it was a small Peavy practice amp right now because i'm really poor, but i've played it through really nice Marshall stacks and it just kicks ass. It is really quiet except for the single coil of course and that isn't even that noisy. I really like how this guitar sounds. It has alot of sustain. It buzzed alot when I first got it, but I fixed that. Anyone who can't get this thing to stay in tune and stop buzzing is some sort or retard.

it was set up horribly, but I got it fixed. The pickups were too high, but a simple screw driver adjustment was all it needed. The only complaint I have is the finish. It is too thin. It had a few chips in it when I got it. I wouldn't be too mean to this thing.

If you don't knock it into stuff, this thing rocks for live playing. The strap buttons are really big, but I still like the snap things. I would always bring a backup simply because if you break a string, you are SOL.

1998 model, made in japan. 24 frets, 1 tone knob, 1 volume knob, 5-way pickup selector. Pickups are v8 at bridge, s1 in the middle, and v7 at the neck (h-s-h). All passive electronics. Basswood body, not sure about the neck, but the fretboard is rosewood. Wizard neck (thin, for fast playability) with re-inforcement strip. THe finish is Iron-pewter, black with a sort-of grainy appearance (looks pretty cool, better than just plain black). Edge (not lo pro edge) bridge, licensed under floyd rose. I don't think it has locking tuners, but who cares because it has a locking nut. Neck is equipped with jumbo frets, and I think the scale is a little wider than most guitars. I got a free Ibanez Proffesional Deluxe case with it.
Sound

Sound is pretty good, depending on what style you want to play. I play everything from blues to metal to shred and the guitar suits those styles pretty well. If you want to play strictly blues or alternative or whatever, this is definately the wrong guitar for you. THis baby was made to burn! THe bridge pu is fairly hot, sounds good when distorted. It even offers a decent clean sound. Middle pickup is a little more noisy (it's a single coil, what did you expect?) but seems to be shielded all-right because it isn't as buzzy as one, say, on a strat. Sounds best when clean or with light distortion. It's a little punchier and tinnier than the other two. Sounds good for clean stuff. Neck sounds good, but I really don't use it that much (good for clean also). With the right amount of distortion, the guitar can really burn, but it also sounds good with more subtle distortion for a sweeter type of sound. The guitar does clean up fairly well when you turn down the volume. Of course, you will have to buy replacement pickups for whatever style you are into.

I bought this used, so I can't really comment on the factory setup. I was set up super low, the previous owner liked buzzing! No dead notes except one, when I bent the 20th fret up a whole step on the high E string. Raised the bridge just a little and that took care of all the buzzing from fret 12 on and the one dead note, and it still plays great (not like cutting your hands on wire when your playing on the higher frets). It still buzzes a little on the lower frets, and I will adjust the truss rod eventually to correct this, but it isn't bothering me at all yet. The tremelo routing is great, you can pull the pitch up a full fifth and more, even when the bridge angle is set a little off (ass down) of perfect neutrality. Heard about the lion's claw routing on the JEM? Same thing, just not the cosmetic effect. Pickups are solid, they definately don't wiggle around" like I've heard some say. Even if they are not as high or low as you would like, how hard is it to turn a freaking screwdriver? Have I mentioned the edge trem yet? It is great. I've never had a locking trem and this is excellent. The EDGE has a really solid feel and makes no clinking noises. ANY FLOATING TREM will be affected if in pitch if you put too much pressure on it with your palm, so you will just have to deal with it (this is not a defect). If the trem is properly set up (angle, tuning, etc.), the edge will not go out of tune often. You can play for hours without having to retune. I really don't know why people say this thing always goes out of tune because mine does not. Just make sure the strings are properly stretched before you replace the locking nut, or you will have to retune often as they stretch and stuff. Also, if you've just bought or are going to buy this guitar, go ahead and take it to a luthier so that it can be properly set up and play the best that it can play. And it does play quite well when properly set up.

THe guitar seems like it will stand up to live playing (I have played it for hours straight without a problem). Of course I would't know since everyone in my town listens to teeny bopper bullshit rap and I cant find anyone in my town to shred with. The hardware finish is rock solid and will not scratch easily unless you are just being plain careless with it. The finish does look fairly thin, but like I said it looks better than just plain black. It has a coat of laquer on it, so unless your name is Stevie Ray Vaughn it won't chip off with regular playing. Unless your either so cool or so drunk that you bang it around like Robert Townsend. THe strap buttons are pretty big. The guitar seems dependable (only had it a week though). I would bring a backup to a gig in case a string breaks (remember, locking tremelo).

I've been playing for 2 years (bass 2 years before that), so I basically know my shit. I use this guitar through a boss metal zone which I bought the same day (see metalzone review). It is an upgrade from a set bridge Jackson Rhoads, and I love it! It is absolutely the coolest guitar I have ever played. If it were lost or stolen, I'd probably immediately buy another one (or maybe an S-series for variety), but I know I would stick with Ibanez. I love just about everything about it (except for the immediate Floyd-Rose woes that anyone who's never owned a Floyd equipped guitar has to adjust to, but it's worth it). I didn't really compare it to anything much else except the rg520q (which I didn't like because of the exclusion of the single coil). Nothing else really had the features at the price range I was willing to spend (which is another reason I like Ibanez). There isn't really anything else I want on it with teh exception of maybe some new pickups, but I bought it for what it did have. Besides, anything else you would want on it you can put on it (tuners, pu's, whatever). One interesting thing, this guitar is accually the same as the JEM except for the different neck and pickups, an EDGE bridge instead of a LOWPRO EGDE, and no pick guard. Plenty of guitar for the money. IT absolutely kicks ass. Again, I see none of the problems that seem to plague some of the more recent posts. With the variety of the pickups and the locking trem , this guitar is very versatile. If you like to play fast, you have found the right guitar. Set up properly it plays great. Just add your personal preference of pickups and your ready to go. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

24 frets, 5 way pickup selector switch, volume and tone pots, H-S-H pickup confirguration. Pickups are stock Ibanez passive pickups. It has a Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo and Wizard neck. I bought it used, but it had been returned after only a few days of ownership by another person. So it was virtually new.

I play progressive death metal (oxymoron, eh?) and, at first, this guitar was perfect. The neck is fast, low action and good playability. I use it with a Peavey Express 112 since nowhere I play is big enough to need more, with a Boss DS-1, Dunlop Crybaby, plus other pedals as needed. It definitely has the character of John Petrucci's guitar tone, somewhat understated and mid-rangy to my ear. The passive pickups aren't hot enough for death metal. There isn't much variety to the distorted tones the guitar puts forth -- either thick and sludgy (a la Crowbar) or thin and wimpy (a la a Service Merchandise guitar). Oddly, the single coil puts out the best tones, distorted or clean. While not HOT, it cleans up the distortion and seems to put out a more even sound, mixing the sludge and thinness to perfection. I like the sound at times, but for heaviness, not great. For solos, it is OK, but again there is a lack of power in the guitar's sound...I could put in some EMGs, but not right now.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The paint job, binding and routing were average on my guitar -- very minor flaws. Looked like the store I got it from mishandled it. The set up, though, was awful, and remains that way. No matter who's worked on it or how much I've adjusted it, the strings BUZZZ constantly. Tried every suggested solution, nothing works. The bridge literally floats, up and down at the slightest touch, and every note and chord you play goes directly out of tune. I don't know if it's the strength in my hands or a bad guitar, but it's really irritating to work around. No problems with the pickups themselves, but the wiring of the pickups and pots was at best shoddy. I've had to resolder everything to keep it going. The locking nut doesn't hold the guitar in tune, the microtuners are not good because it takes too many rotations to make a microtone adjustment -- you end up unlocking the nut, retuning using the tuning pegs, and starting the battle all over. The neck is exactly what I want, like a plank of wood, and the frets are in excellent shape.
Reliability/Durability

As far as live playing, bring a backup because heat and sweat decimate this axe. The poor soldering and wiring (before I fixed it) would cut out after a little moisture got in the air. The finish and hardware won't degrade quickly. But the electronics are not set up for live playing, even jamming. The tuning is the biggest problem -- it'll turn your hair grey. It's maddening. I would not depend on this guitar for anything as it will only cause tremendous headaches for anyone that wants to record, jam or play a gig -- great for a bedroom shredder though.

I dealt with Ibanez regarding an RX770 I had a few years back -- they were helpful, if a bit slow. They sent me a history of that model of guitar and specs for it. Never dealt with Ibanez regarding this guitar, but they couldn't help me if I wanted them to.

I first started playing in 1987, but only took up music very seriously in 1993. I wish I had already figured out that I needed to buy for my needs, not because favortie guitarists played a certain brand or I wanted their tone. Sounds silly, but a lot of people I know fell victim to that desire/sales pitch. You know, "Hey how's it goin' today? Who's your favorite guitarist? Mesa/Boogie's and the Custom Shop this way, sir!" I love the action and playability this guitar has, but I hate the tuning problems and its immense unreliability. If stolen or lost, I would only want it back to trade it in on something else. I recently played the ESP 7 strings (both M and H models), and was shocked at the difference. I'm trying to get the Tune-O-Matic ESP 7 string, and get rid of this piece of junk.

24 frets, H-S-H, ... yadda yadda, it's all mentioned below. I really wish it had a locking tremolo, though. I really hate the fact that you have to reset your intonation every time you put new strings on it. WHY?? The locking nut with microtuners on the tremolo would generally be a good idea, except for the fact that this bastard is consistently out of tune.
Sound
:8
I guess it sounds pretty good, except for the constant buzzing of the strings. No matter what I do, I can't seem to keep it from buzzing. The tremolo action is so light, that just the pressure of a bar chord brings it up, causing the whole chord to go sharp.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
It was set up okay I guess. I was thinking that I'd be able to adgust it and get better perfomance out of it, but that just hasn't happened. The strings buzz. Always. I've screwed with it and screwed with it, and I just can't keep 'em from buzzing. The volume nob is very close to the bridge pickup... which is good if you like to mess around it a lot while you're playing. However, I use a volume pedal, and it seems to just get in the way while I'm playing.

It seems really solid. I don't have the same paint complaints that others have mentioned, but then, I pretty much baby it. The pickups almost seem like they are just "hanging there". I don't really see how they could fall out, but they sure do wiggle a lot. This guitar will never leave my living room, so I don't see much need for a backup.

I hope you like tuning your instrument. and tune and tune and tune. It's always out of tune. I'll get it perfectly in tune, and five minutes later, it's out of tune again! Really frustrating. Almost to the point of making it unusable. I highly recommend this guitar if you love out of tune buzzing sounds. But if you put enough distortion on it and tune between every song, it sounds pretty good.

This is a 1998 model, with 24 jumbo frets, one volume/one tone knobs, H-S-H configuration with a 5-way selector switch, Floyd Rose Edge vibrato system, Gotoh tuners. It's the Juniper Green finish (stunning) and it came with a huge set of Allen wrenches (why I don't know, you only need the one size). It's also got probably the thinnest neck I've ever played. It's really great! The body is basswood, the neck is maple with a bubinga stripe down the back for reinforcement and the fretboard is rosewood.

I play this through a Marshall VS-102, which can turn virtually any guitar into a winner, but I must say this thing really sounds fabulous. I play mostly hard rock, with some metal, and this could not be more perfect for that. Undistorted, the sounds of the single coil and bridge/single coil are great for delivering shimmering acoustic-like tones, while distorted, any pickup configuration delivers, the goods, though I very rarely find the need to take it out of the bridge pickup. It's very bright, and picks harmonics like crazy. I love the sound--it's the BEST!
Action, Fit, & Finish

This guitar was set up near perfect. The one flaw I found (if you can even call it that) was that the bridge stuck up a little, because the tension in the strings was too strong. But, a quick turn of the screwdriver adjusted the Floyd Rose to the proper position. Other than that, everything was perfect and will never be touched. And you really can't beat the "black chrome" hardware.

This guitar looks capable of withstanding anything. I must admit at first I was a little nervous about that super-thin neck, but I've gotten used to the idea that nothing bad will happen. The finish looks like it will last forver, and the hardware looks like the stuff tanks or something are made of, so no fears there either. The strap buttons are bigger than most, and are very solid--they're never slipping. I can depend on this for my life, and would absolutely use it without a backup during a gig.

It's just the best. I have never enjoyed playing as much as I do with this. I chose this over a Jackson and ESP, both of which I seriously considered, but they just didn't have the feel, OR features of this guitar. And of course, NO ONE has that sweet Juniper Green finish. It is everything I want in a guitar.

My other guitar is AmStd Stratocaster. Compared to it, Ibanez has obvious differences what comes to sound, due to pickups of course. When played without amp, I'm really tempted to grab Fender and Feel its sound. Ibanez sounds like dead, although its body resonates really nicely. Amplified sound is -lucky me- a whole different story. I think Ibanez has done a good job what comes to variety in tone. By using switch/vol/tone with an idea, one can really get good sounds out of this! Just try neck/middle combo with vol put a bit down, chorus and lush reverb. Sugar! Then, bridge pickup, major distortion and ahh... Eternal erection. ;) Although I really like Ibanez's tone, there's certainly place left for my Stratocaster. In clean and shred. Not better, but different. We'll see what I'll get with different pickups.

I bought this guitar new. I haven't had to set it up again since trying to slap in some .10-.52 strings I used in my strat at that time. They didn't work.. Back in .09-.46 and it's a dream. Easy to set up and keeps its settings. Guitar is also nicely finished. Better than my stratocaster, I have to say. It's got red flame maple top with gold hardware. A bit cheap compared to let's say, PRS, but does it fine for me. Frets are well dressed, haven't cut my hands yet. The only thing I have to complain is that neck is so lightly fitted into body (to allow better access to +20 or something-fret) that one can bend neck sideways in the neck pocket and detune guitar.

Some people say that RG necks are too thin and fragile, but I'll trade it to excellent playability. I think everything works ok. It was also an amazement to me that now I have to change strings just because they get old, not like with strat when strings just got broken. (And I have a graph tech equipped and well set-up strat)

This Ibanez is really what I were looking after, although I bought it even without trying it with an amp.. (about 15 min of drooling and such (I said that it is a beautiful guitar), quick visit to cash dispenser and..) Afterwards I was a bit bugged about the fact that I could've bought a used JEM for the same price. If this is stolen, I'll get an Ibanez Universe. Same kind of design and That B String!
I'm playing thru Digitech 2112/Marshall 8008/Rivera CS212-setup.
If you're about to buy RG guitar, feel free to ask. I'll try to answer your questions, although this is quite much what I think about it. I'm also quite picky about my gear (in a good sense..) so this isn't just 'it's good becouse I paid money for it'-opinion.

For the price, this guitar has an excellent tone. Though I don't think it would be too suitable for blues or country, this guitar is an excellent mid-priced guitar with a very metallic sound. I'm strictly an extreme metal player, but I think the RG-570 would be suitable for any aggressive style. I use this guitar with a Digitech RP-5 processor through a Marshall JCM800 head and JCM900 4 x 12 cab. I wouldn't know if the guitar would be suitable for blues, country, or any other similar playing style because I don't play anything even close to that.

Not sure of the year I think 97. 24 Jumbo frets, Hum at bridge V8, Single S1, and Hum at neck V7, all passive. 1 tone and 1 volume. I don't know the body wood, the neck is maple w/ a rosewood fret board. It has a Iron Puter finish (not the best paint job I've seen). Strat Body style, very comfortable. Floyd Rose patent whammy. I paid $950.00 as a combo w/a Marshall VS30R amp. They threw in strings, picks, hardcase, strap, and some other things.

I jam at the house and play 99% metal. The sound I get with my Marshall alone is cool. I bought a Zoom 505 pedal (I don't like it.) I usually just use the bridge pickup. It can get some great harmonics and sounds great for heavy metal. The single coil has a good clean tone to it. I don't use the neck pickup except when I am experimenting with different sounds. With the music I play I wouldn't miss the single coil or the neck humbucker

I don't know how long it was in the store. It buzzed while I played it and the intonation was a little off. I figured I could fix it. I fixed the buzzing but the strings are to high for my taste. I have checked the neck and it's straight and the whammy is square. I have had better action on cheaper model Ibanez. For the price I paid I would expect better. The pots seem to be made cheap because the knobs seem to tilt to one side easy. The paint doesn't seem to be thick enough because you can see where the paint has soaked into the wood. Nice color though. The finish on the hardware is Iron Puter, looks cool but it seems cheap. Maybe they were experimenting???
