1998, Japan I believe. Solid black: beautiful. volume, tone, 3 pikups with a fender like 5 way controller. I've sinse put in dimarzio tone zones but almost wish I hadn't. Floyd Rose locking nut trem system...which is alright but makes tuning/string changing twice as tedious!!! Very thin playable neck...probably this guitars best feature. Only complaint: no independant volume controls (no tom morello ish noises)!?

With my pickups this guitar has a wonderfull thick sound. It is very versatile but isn't good enough to cover up for A- crappy amps, or B- crappy players (unfortunately). The 570 is really a hard rock guitar...it does clean but feels, looks, and SOUNDS most at home with a Mesa Boogie like liquid crunch tone. I play a variety of stuff- funky blues, classic rock, prog, folk...but like I say this guitar is at home with metallica. I don't often use the single coil as it creates a serious buzz and is relatively quieter than the humbucking hickups. I've played it through a variety of amps: fender twin black faces, fender deluxe combos, marshall combos and tube stacks, peavy etc. etc. etc. and it sounds best with a tube amp (but don't they all. Wahs and most line 6 stuff also adds to this guitars beauty.

I've taken this on trans atlantic airplane flight dropped it onto hard wood flooring and rammed it's headstock into most hard surfaces commonly found in a basement and it never EVEN went out of tune.

If it were stolen/lost I wouldn't replace it with another...mostly because a good amp is more important than a good guitar at the end of the day...and I'd like something that I can do alternate tunings on.
HOWEVER, If I had limitless funds then YES by all means I'd buy another 570.
BOTTOM LINE: dependable, fast playing guitar for hard rockers!

Made in Japan, 24 frets, lo-pro trem. I don't know what year it's made but definitely pre-2003. Nickel-gray finish, looks a lot nicer in real life than in pictures.
Everything have been said so I won't go on about it.
It came with some manuals and a set of allen keys. They are obviously useful but the allen keys were sort of disgusting. For some reason they're reallt sticky so I have to full wipe them, but no big deal.
The whammy bar took me awhile to push in (I'm just too weak and I was scared I'd break it.) but it works fine after that.
Including a good soft case would be good.

I play jazz, rock and some shredding stuff. I use it with marshall or peavey practice amps. I've only tested it with the peavey since I only got it a few days ago. It sounded good. I've heard people saying Ibanez guitar sound really "electric" or unnatural. I have to disagree with that. It sounded really nice and natural.
Even though there's only one tone knob on it while my les paul has two, it is versatile. Pickup switching is quiet, unlike my old old peavey guitar.
Humbuckers are very quiet. I tend to use them more than teh single coil pickup anyway.
It sounds really fat with distortion and I can get some really nice clean sound with it even when I was playing with a little solid-state amp.
Nothing I don't like about it so far.

I got it off the internet (my first time.) and I'm really surprised and relief that it was fine when it arrived. Finish was perfect, even better than my Gibson Les paul gothic.
It was really really out of tune when it arrived, which is not surprising but since it is my first guitar with a locking trem, it took me awhile to get everything straight.
Action was nice and low.
You can see how nice the wood is on the neck. The finish is what really surprises me. I've played and seen the same model in differnet colour but I have not see a real thing that is in nickel-gray. I was expecting some sort of dull gray colour, but it turns out it's kind of sparkly. Somewhere between gray and reflective mirror finish, which is cool coz it looks awesome without fingerprints and does not get scratched as easily.

:

It will definitely withstand live playing and teh hardware looks solid. I think the finish will last. It looks like one of those finish that doesn't get scratched easier but the paint will just chip off. (sorry I don't know about paints and finishes at all.)
Strap buttons are a lot better and bigger than those found on les pauls. I'll probably put a homemade strap lock on though since my strap is a bit worn.
I can depend on it but I won't gig with it with no backup especially since I'm a newbie to floyd rose.

Overall, it's an awesome guitar for people like me who can't avoid facny models like the Jem whatsoever. I've been playing for almost 4 years. I owned a Gibson Les Paul gothic, an electric acoustic guitar and used to own a Peavey beginner strat.
As I said I only had it for a very short time but so far it's great.
If it were stolen or lost, I'd try to find it again. (it's a close out deal.)
I wish it came with a padded soft case.
I used to dislike Ibanez guitars because the necks are too thin. I preferred chunky LP style neck but somehow I started liking thin necks. That's one of teh reason why I chose this guitar.
I'm hoping it will stay in tune okay. Floyd rose is a bit annoying but I think I'll get used to it.
Also, this guitar is relatively light (may be I'm just used to the les paul.) which is a very good thing for me.
I compared it with other RGs and decided that it's much better for me to get a closeout pre 2003 higher end rg instead of low end 2003 rgs like the rg350 dx. I believed i have made the right choice.
I also tried a few Cort X series guitars but the necks were too chunky even though the trems were nice.
I'm enjoying the extra features this guitar has that the lesp paul doesntt- whammy bar, 3 pick ups and 24 frets.
Cheers.

I've had this bad boy for about a month and must say that I am a big fan of ibanez having owned about 6 over the last 25 years (has it really been that long?) Anyway I got the Rootbeer metallic finish which looks cool. Nice closout price for brand new guitar online. Made in Japan, I don't know what that's about because I heard that the new ones were Korean. The 2003 models are being made in japan under the prestige series so I don't know if maybe they stared the production early. Whatever, It's made in Japan and seems well built.
can get a variety of sounds but it really wants to Rock hard dude.

I play everything from the Beatles to Motorhead, this is more for Mototrhead. I use it with an Anniversary edition marshall JCM 800 50 watt w/ 412cabinet. It also sounds good with my liittle Marshall lead 12.
Sounds most excellent for metal, OK for blues.

Guitar is built nice but I took it to a luthier for a proper setup. I must say that I am disappointed with the much vaunted Edge bridge which was the reason I bought this guitar online without playing it in the first place. I don't really bash it and it doesn't stay in tune any better than my Roadstars. The action is a little too low and I will ahve to get it adjusted again as my pick makes contact with the pickups when I am in a frenzy.

Don't use it without a backup or any axe with a locking system for that matter because string changes can be times consuming. Besides you have to cut off the ball end on this baby.

I've been playing over 25 years and currently have two other ibanez roadstars and a Takamine acoustic and an Alvarez twelve string. The one thing I should have checked out first was the tremolo which seems overrated. Check out the tremolo on the new RG's from Korea it is a new type of Edge.
If it was stolen or lost I'ld probably get a different model with a tremolo that actually can take a beating.
I love the way it sounds and looks and the neck is sweet. The action is too low and the tremolo is overrated.
However for 425 with a hardcase you really can't beat the value. I will probably ship the guitar to Jem for a set up next time, if they can't get that trem to sing nobody can.

ok here is where i have to bash ibanez... these guitars are built very well (japanese) but the 2 screws on the back of the neck are where the major problem is... myself and a couple other musicians have had this problem so im not alone... i dropped the guitar one time and there are 2 LARGE cracks starting from the screws and going arround almost to the fret board... i have to give it a 5 for reliability... do not count on this one as ur only ax for live shows

2002, Japan made. Rest of the specs are already posted here.
I had an Ibanez (Corean) JS100 but I quickly got rid of it and bought this instead. This one is not as sexy, but by far this axe is much accurate build.
The materials are of excellent quality for the money.
My only complain is about the E string because it is too close to the end of the frets and drops off when i press to hard. (Check as well the lower E string also, if you intend to buy this guitar)

I play most Heavy Metal, and this guitar is definitely made for it. I am using a Digitech RP300 effects, and a Fender Deluxe 90 amp. The overall sound I get is really good. The hardware is not noisy at all.
Consider seriously the replace of the V7, S1 and V8 pick ups. The stock pick ups lack of personality, but if you throw in a pair of high quality pick ups, you'll get a really excellent quality guitar for the money.
After reseraching on the subject I installed Dimarzio PAF PRO on the neck, and Dimarzio Evolution Bridge. This is a killer combination.

The guitar factory setup was terrible, a los of buzz mostly. But after spending bucks on luthiers I decided to set it up myself.
The finish is very good, anyway, you should examine it carefully specially on the E strings detail I mentioned above.

I use this guitar as my main one, I trust this for live playing, but I always have a back up. Restringing and tuning takes a lot, but once you are done, it stays in pitch.
One thing you must consider in order to achieve a long durability is to store it on a hard case, and be warned that only Ibanez hard cases will accomplish that, because of the special bend on the neck of this guitar.

I ve been playing for 15 yrs already, and this is my second electric guitar. I was looking for a IBANEZ RG770 but these beautys are not made any more by Ibanez, as they were as good as the best Jems. If you see one, do not heasitate.
I think you can not go wrong if you buy this guitar and replace the pick ups, my only advice is that you look carefully at every detail before taking it to home.
If It were stolen or lost, I would definitely buy it again.

1987 built in Japan. Thin, 24 jumbo fret Wizzard neck (rosewood f-board on maple). Ibanez's own H/S/H pu config. Floyd Rose licensed Edge locking tremolo and nut. Gotoh tuners. 5 way selector switch. Basswood body in the Strat style, etc.,etc.etc.
Sound
:

This guitar tries to give you the sound of a LP and a Strat in one axe. While it doesn't deliver either exactly, it does give you a wide variety of electric/metal sounds. The bridge pu gives a good bit of distortion and works well for the darker, heavy stuff. The middle, single coil pu is powerful and fairly clean, provided it isn't overdriven. The neck pu was a dissappointment to me- very thin and whimpy. I replaced it w/ a Bill Lawrence L-500, but I'm still not happy (it's too low of an output). I run this thru a Peavey Backstage Plus and a Line 6 MM3. You won't get any kind of an acoustic sound at all, which is OK if you don't want it.

Got this used. Finish is in remarkable shape when you consider it's age. It does have the neck pocket crack in the finish that is pretty common, but other than that it looks almost brand new. I needed to adj. the pu height when I got it- who knows whose fault that was.

The black trem and tuners have held up great, but the strings are a major undertaking to change out. NEVER RELY on this one axe when playing live. Bust a string and your hosed!! The locking trem does stay in tune, no matter how hard I push + pull the whammy. A big plus!! I replaced the strap buttons w/Schaller strap locks, just 'cause I felt like it. The orig. buttons are pretty large- making a quick change difficult.

This is not the guitar for you if you're a beginner or unfamiliar with the Floyd Rose locking tremolo system. It will frustrate the
$#@* out of you when you change out strings or replace a broken one.
Being primarily a rhythm player, the positioning of the volume control is a big problem for me. I'm constantly hitting it and turning the sound down. I also seem to always want to rest my heel on the bridge (too many years playing acoustics only), which actives the tremolo unintentionally.
On the positive side: the neck is very fast and easy to play. You can jam for hours on end w/o tiring. The trem stays in tune 99.9% of the time, provided you pre-stretch your string when you first put them on. The hardware on this Ib is pretty indestructable, and still looks great after 16 years. The 3 factory pickups give you a wide variety of sound possibilities, more so than a Strat or LP; but just not up to the level. This makes sense given the difference in price between them and the 570.
The resale value of these guitars SUCK. While they list for like $800, and sell for the $600's, you can pick them up used, in excellent condition, for only $200-300 (check eBay to see). I don't understand this, given that they are extremely versital and built to last (at least the older Japanese ones). The Korean models are supposed to be of a lesser quality, at least that's what I've heard.
Bottom Line - If you want an inexpensive, reliable, heavy metal/hard rock axe that can approximate the sound of a LP AND a Strat in one, and you don't mind spending significant time changing strings, then by all means buy a used, not new, RG 570. If not, then look somewhere else, especially if this will be your only axe.

This guitar is made for Rock/Hard Rock sounds, but it is suitable for any sound if you get the guitar-amp-effects settings right. I use a Peavey 35W amp, a zoom 505 effect and BOSS OS2 dist/overdrive pedal.

I bought this guitar with metal in mind - it delivers!
The V8 bridge humbucker has a reasonably high output, it also retains clarity where other stock pickups would become "muddy". Sounds closer to a Dimarzio FRED than an EVOLUTION. It probably is comparible in output.
The S1 single coil is a bit of a waste on an RG - what sort of metal head would use a single coil? It is of reasonable quality and sounds like it could be useful for something - Radiohead perhaps ha, ha, ha. The between positions are good especially the middle singlecoil selected with the neck humbucker. RGs can get a fairly wide range of sounds.
The V7 neck Humbucker is not quite as high in output as it's V8 bridge counterpart. The V7, in my opinion, actually sounds better than the V8 but then again I play on the neck too much considering I'm supposed to be a metalhead. The V7 is also prety good for playin' the blues though.
I play the following setup:
IBANEZ RG570 > IBANEZ DS7 DISTORTION > MORLEY PRO SERIES WAH > MARSHALL VALVESTATE 2000 AVT150.
I use the Ibanez DS7 DISTORTION to boost the Overdrive One channel on my amp.
I get the rest of my effects from my amp.
The V8 bridge humbucker has a dark sound which adds a distinctively metal sound to this guitar. It is by no means an EVOLUTION. I am assuming that anyone most of the people considering an RG of any sort are a fan of Ibanez players - Satch, Vai , Gilbert and Petrucci(former Ibanez player). The V8 can get a "Satchish" sound with a ton of delay and chorus. Vai and Petrucci are definately out the window. The V8 favours tone over output. A bad thing? You decide. Saying that the V8 does get a good harmonic response but in comparison with a Peavey Wolfgang Special QT it isn't that high in output.
The S1 middle single coil is supposedly high output but it still is a fairly pointless feature on a Rock Guitar unless you need John Sykes style clean sounds.
The V7 neck humbucker is quite bright but cannot achieve a Les Paul type P.A.F Slash sound.
Most seem to be replacing the stock Ibanez V7 neck and V8 bridge humbuckers. I will do like wise. I will probably get an EVOLUTION put into the bridge but I've heard that a STEVE'S SPECIAL sounds better in an RG than an EVOLUTION and both have an output of around 400mV.
I'm set on a P.A.F. PRO for the neck position JEMS and JS series Ibanez guitars both use them in the neck position - I'm guessing it is the right choice of neck pickup for an RG hopefully it will be.
The V8 bridge humbucker is surprisingly noisy compared to the V7 neck humbucker. The between positions and the S1 middle single coil are also noisy but what else can you expect with a singlecoil?
The V7 neck humbucker is completely noiseless. This will undoubtedly vary with different setups.

I lowered the action when I brought it home but I use a low action for others it may have been perfect.
I was concerned about the angle of the to the top of the guitar - it wasn't flush.
I set up the guitar and the EDGE keeps almost perfect tuning still no match for an Original Floyd Rose though but good luck trying to get one on a guitar in this price bracket. The bridge cavity has been well routed but I think Ibanez should make more of a big deal over the paint in the back and bridge cavities. No one can see this kind of thing but it is probably the little things that seal the deal.
Overall the paint job is excellent - Cosmic Blue is the coolest colour ever. I 've heared all the stories about how the paint on RGs is willing to be talked off the guitar but a few chips always look cool. If you through the guitar about (I DON'T) then the paint is bound to come off.
One of the two major annouances I have with the paint on this guitar is that it scratches really easily. Most noticeably on the headstock. It is black and scratches when removing a string from under the retainer bar. The Mirror Silver Ibanez logo is just so cool and whats more it doesn't scratch!
The other problem is that if you palm mute and sweat as much as I do the Iron Pewter paint will be rubbed off the saddles on the bridge. Again no big deal but Ibanez should review their choice of paints so that longevity rather than looking the daddy's bollocks is what is most important.
One last thing was the irregulary huge strap buttons that Ibanez have used. The screws are so big that the choice of strap locks is limited but the strap buttons are so big that I haven't needed them as of yet.
However,I blame Sound Control for knowing Jack about guitars and having staff that are mostly ,literally, idiots.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar will withstand gigs aslong as it is treated with the love that all guitars deserve and not thrown around all over the stage.
The bridge's paint will come off fairly easily but apart from that the hardware seams to be made of a reasonably hard metal (e.g. not gold) unlike some other RGs I have heard about you can't snap the bolts for the locking nut.
The finish won't come off.
The strap buttons are the best I've had on a guitar, their size is questionable though. They won't come out when you stage dive like my friend's ones did either but that was on a Korean made Ibanez GIO and as anyone with experience of Ibanez will know that Korean made guitars are in a waord SHITE!
I doubt whether I can depend on this guitar or any guitar with a recessed FLOYD ROSE, one snapped string and you're on the way to the knackers yard.
I will get a non-FLOYD ROSE guitar as a backup at some stage but until then I'll just pimp someone else's guitar as a backup whenever I'm gonna be playin' a gig.

Never had to deal with Ibanez. Thank GOD! I know this thech guy and he waited seven months for a replacemeny locking nut for an RG a couple of years ago.
I'm sure just by reading some reviews you'll get an idea of how much Ibanez care for their loyal customers.
They should have an advertising slogan; "Once you've bought one of our guitars you're on your own."

I've been playing for almost four years but I can shred a bit.
If thie guitar were lost or stolen I'd probably consider an RG550 or a Peavey Wolgang Special QT.
I love the bridge (the original JEM and JS series guitars used EDGEs prior to the introduction of the LO-PRO EDGE). The pickups are good considering their stock still gonna' change them though. The Super Wizard neck is trully amazing especially if you've got small hand like me. I love the guitar in general except for that bloody single coil.
I compared it to the RG550 and the Peavey Wolfgang Special QT. I played five RG550s and they all played like crap compared to the five or so RG570s I also tried. My brother already had the Peavey so no point in me getting one.
I wish this guitar had a coil tap. It would just be so cool - like one of the old JPMs.
