Features : 8
22 Jumbo Frets, Infinity Pickups, Spring tension knob, Amazing tremolo.

Top wood: Burled Poplar
Body wood: Mahogany
Neck wood: Maple? I'm not sure.
Neck is quite thin and very fast.
Dual-locking tremolo.
S-style body.

I've literally spun this guitar by the bar and it stays in tune. The pickups have a great amount of output, however, the single coil (H/S/H) is too thin for my taste. The two humbuckers sound great. I find that the neck pickup gives some very warm (but a tad muddy) tones in clean, and is a good sound when distorted. I am a great fan of the bridge pickup, however. I find that it has great output for harmonics and any style of shredding I've used.

I can imagine, in the distant future, replacing the pickups for DiMarzio's. But that is far from necessary.

As previously mentioned, the single-coil pickup is thin and tinny. The humbuckers are great, however.

The neck pickup is muddy when distorted, and that may fit your style, but I don't like it, even though it has a nice, warm sound. The bridge pickup is very good, and I think it has a great amount of output. I used it for harmonics when I tested it, and they picked up incredibly. You can't go wrong with this bridge pickup.

As previouasly mentioned, I can imagine changing the humbuckers for Dimarzio's much later on, but I won't wish to make any changes for the next long while.

I'm not sure if this guitar was set up at the factory or at the store I bought it from, but it's perfect.

The strings are nice and low, and barely takes effort to move across. The neck is the fastest I've played, and I have no trouble whatsoever playing this guitar. I snapped a string a while back (B) and I was surprised that the other strings held tune, which I found to be rare.

The neck is set in straight and has stayed that way for quite some time. I've used some different tunings (Drop D, B, Normal, DADGAD) and I haven't had to change a thing.

The finish is amazing!
It's natural poplar (burled), I don't believe there is a coating on it. I absolutely fell in love with the look of it when I saw it, and I still dream of it ;)

The tremolo on this guitar is incredible. I lifted the guitar by the bar, then spun it around while holding the bar, and it stayed in the same tune as before. I've never used a tremolo that held that well. I imagine hat this tremolo will hold for a very long time.

I've babied the guitar other than that, so I can't say whether or not it can take a beating. It is very ligfht, however, so I imagine that a decent fall may scratch and dent it pretty bad. But I'm not sure.

As well, the knobs and locking nut are all still in prime condition after 6 months. Nothing wrong to report.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. Haven't had to.

Overall Rating : 8
This guitar has a better output and neck than my SG, and rocks harder then my LP. I fell that it is too light, but everything else is golden. I would definitely buy this guitar again should anything ever happen (I hope nothing does).

In short... save money and buy this guitar!

This is the best sounding guitar I have ever heard. Each string of a chord rings out clearly and sustains beautifully for what seems like a very long time. The sound is full and rich with a detailed high end. Out of probably 25 - 30 guitars I've ever owned I've never had one sound this good.

Of course all of that changes when you plug it in.

When you plug it in you are rewarded with a bridge pickup that sounds like Fran Drescher, a middle single coil that sounds like a bad imitation of a $90 Fender Squire, and a neck pickup that isn't awful, but really is too thick and muddy for a mahogany bodied guitar.

I will say that based on the sound of the guitar acoustically, it will take a good set of pickups and sound amazing... however, as things are...

I rate it a 10 for playing in a blackout, only a 3 when you plug it in. Average them together giving a bit more weight to the electric score since that's what it's intended use is and you get a...

The finish of this guitar was truly great. I expected to find some filler on the inlays and some botched spots on the binding, but found nothing. There was a tiny drip of finish on the back of the neck (about the size of the tip of a pencil) but since it was a matte finish I ended up polishing the neck to a bit of a shine anyway and the slight imperfection was gone.

The problem for me is that this guitar sat in a Guitar Center for a week or so between the first time I played it and the day I went and bought it. The initial setup I remember being alright with middle of the road action and no memorable fret buzz. The setup when I got it home was not good. The only thing that would have been wrong from the factory was the neck angle. I needed to add 3 shims at the back of the neck pocket to get the trem springs off the backplate with low action and .010 strings. The rest of the setup would have needed resetting for the thicker strings anyway, but I will say that perhaps the jackasses that wander the floor of Guitar Center passing out cables and trying to play sales professional should leave setting up instruments to the certified repair guy...

I discount the setup since I know it was played with at the store...

For a small finish imperfection and improperly shimmed neck it gets a...

All I can say so far is that the ZR Trem is the most stable bridge I've ever played. It stayed in tune for more than an hour with new strings and fairly heavy trem use. This is amazing...

As for the rest of the guitar, I feel pretty good about it lasting as my 2 year old daughter decided to stand on it and walk down the line of the neck like it was a balance beam while it was in a gig bag and nothing broken or out of place. This makes me fairly certain that the guitar will withstand just about anything...

It's thin and might look fragile, but it definitely gets a...

Ibanez shipped out the tools, Trem Bar and info same day when I told them it was missing from the Guitar Center... That's pretty good...

I've been playing for 22 years. I'm currently playing in a Grateful Dead Tribute and doing some originals that are more like New Age meets Electronica, funk and fusion. I've used the guitar on 2 gigs since picking it up last week and it was a beautiful playing experience. I've got a few guitars, but really only play a Strat and an SG live. This S blows both away. I feel like the rest are just guitars, where this is an instrument. The feel is really top end and as soon as I change out the pickups, the sound will be as well. I knew what I was getting into with the Ibanez pickups. They don't put good pickups in any of their guitars. They'd really do well to use only aftermarket pickups or sell the guitars without pickups all together.

The thing really is a work of art. It's beautiful to look at and an absolute joy to play. I looked at a few other guitars in this price range like Brian Moore, ESP LTDs, PRS SE series, and even a few used Carvins and this beat them all hands down. I'd buy it again in a second.
