I play metal, this guitar is made for metal. Perfect.
I use it with a Randall Warhead amp and Mesa Oversize Recto 4X12
Not noisy except when you want to be.
Very full sound, but very clear and articulate
No dislikes with the sound

The action was set very low, I had to make a truss rod adjustment to loosen it to stop the strings from fretting out on the first fret.
The only complaint I have is where the strap buttons were located, they make the guitar very uncomfortable and neck heavy. However, if you move the strap buttons to 1-behind the neck, and 2- about two inches to the right of the input jack. Then it balances like no other!

Yes, it will survive live playing
The hardware seems like it will last.
The finish is very thick, and seems like high quality.
The strap buttons are solid, now.
Yes, I feel I can depend on it.
I never gig w/o a backup.

Made in Indonesia, 2007. Model name is Xiphos. Weird shape guitar, designed by Ed Laing for Necrophagist guitarist Muhammed Suicmez (outstanding shredder by the way!). I deeply investigated the guitar before I bought it, it has a nice story, go to http://www.ibanez.com/eg/xiphos.aspx and watch the video. I also heard that there are Japanese versions available too but no idea how much they cost. I bought mine second hand (only used for 2 weeks) from one of my friends who bought a real bargain USA Jackson from Ebay about the same time he received this XPT. I paid 350GBP for it but usual price for the new ones is around 450GBP here in UK (cheaper in USA : 650$ new). A nice bargain for me.
Finish is called red chameleon, guitar changes color according to the light angle, it is mainly red but under stage lights it changes from red to yellow, green and sometimes a weird greyish color. Really cool. Body is mahogany and it is kinda heavy. Neck is thru, 648mm (25.5") scale and it has 24 jumbo frets, just like some RG models, with shark inlays. Quite fast and comfortable neck, a little bit wide for me but that's OK, wider space between strings gives a little more clarity on each note, I suppose. Action was very low when I got it that I had to heightened the strings a little, low E string was rattling like crazy. Now it is perfect and the action is still quite low without any buzzing. It has 2 DiMarzio Activator humbuckers, 1 volume and 1 tone knobs, plus a LP style 3-way selector switch below the knobs (bottom of the body). This is a good idea since I usually hit selector switch by mistake while performing live, now I will not, because it is really far away from where my right hand is. Bridge is not my favourite, it is Edge III, but it does the job well.

Guitar has 2 DiMarzio Activator humbuckers, very strong sound and not muddy. Crystal clear. Especially bridge bucker sounds exactly like a properly fitted EMG81, but of course it is not an active pickup which I like most, because you don't deal with a 9V battery. It is a perfect fit for me since I play strong guitar music and I am into heavy metal, trash and sometimes death metal. Both buckers are quite silent without any humming, they are very stable and not microphonic. Impressive pickups.

Perfect. Everything is cut, placed and finished perfectly. You can hear a selector click sound on most of the guitars but not on this one. Pickups are placed correctly and routing looks very good without any flaws. Because neck is thru and the heel shaped pretty good, there is nothing to stop you when you get higher on frets. Nice and smooth.
It has a gothic style feeling on it although it changes color under stage lights but maybe that's just me. Finish is really cool.

I've been playing since 1991. My main guitars are: a Dean Razorback Explosion (2006 Chinese), a custom shop ESP Horizon (1995, USA) and a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser FR (2007, Korean). My main FX unit is Zoom G7.1.ut and I mainly use a Marshall JCM800 for live performances. For practice, I use a Fender 30W.
It is a comfortable guitar and built with good workmanship. Neck is impressive as well as the sound. Body/neck joint heel shaped so perfectly, there is nothing to stop you when you visit the rusty end of the fretboard. Very comfortable neck with butter smooth action. Frets are very high quality and probably will last for a lifetime. I am not a big fan of Indonesian guitars but this is a nice one.
This is a heavy metal guitar, I don't think it is good for any other style, not only because of it is extraordinary shape but also because of the sound and tone properties. It is strong and it has all the roars and growls of a heavy metal guitar. Perfect for Dimebag, Scolnick, Friedman, etc type shredders. I think it is especially designed for live playing but I really find it comfortable to play while sitting too. The overall shape reminds me Jackson Warrior a little, but it is better for me. It fits better anf feels right.
The only thing about this XPT700 is the bridge unit, I really don't like Edge III tremolos, they have a lot of parts and pieces, I like more plain units like original Edge tremolos or the first Floyd Rose ones. But it doesn't interfere with the playability anyway, it is just my personal opinion. Bridge is quite solid and guitar definitely stays in tune for days.
