FREE to me (gift from nephew....I think he found it somewhere) black Scout - Complete retro feel (Martni esq.) Model: Scout - BK
I can tell you that I'm a big fan of less expensive acoustic guitars a) I'm poor b) the gamble is worth it....If it's a player and it was cheap or free that's gravy! No China made label but we all know it's like that! I bought new Martin lites and this baby rings and rings. Neck is great / truss rod set up is very coo too..................
For the el-cheap-o price leader guitar it's a winner!

things where a bit loose but I attacked them early on and they've been great ever since.

Specs:
Dreadnought-stlye acoustic guitar from the Indiana Guitar Company. 20 frets, made in China. Sunburst finish. Laminate Spruce top with catalpa back, sides, and neck. Rosewood fretboard and bridge.
Sound
:
No Opinion
The laminate top gives it a really punchy sound. I really enjoy the tone a lot. All the strings ring out evenly, and the heavier ones don't overpower the lighter strings like on most cheap acoustics. Perfect for me.

Setup:
The guitar is set up quite beautifully for a 99 dollar guitar. Low action with no buzz, perfect really. The only thing I adjusted on this guitar was the tuners. They were significantly loose, and sometimes would slip if I strummed roughly. However, I tightened them up with a screwdriver and all problems were fixed.
There were no problems that a Phillips head and a minuscule amount of effort couldn't fix.
Finish:
The finish is wonderful. The sunburst catches your eye the minute you walk into the room with it. The neck binding and body binding(front AND back!) give it the look of a professional instrument. It gives the guitar a "vintage yet elegant" look, which blends perfectly with my hunting/fishing/outdoorsman-themed living room.
However, it isn't without it's minuscule flaws. In the area where the fretboard comes over the body there is a small amount of paint that trails ever-so-slightly onto the binding. There's also a ding on the back of the headstock of mine, but that most likely happened in the store(I bought a floor model).

I don't think I have to worry about this guitar giving out. It's built solid. The only thing I might replace are the tuners, but not for awhile.

I bought this guitar so I would have an acoustic I could carry with me on trips and to friends' houses instead of lugging my heavy Les Paul and amp everywhere. This one fit the bill, so I bought it.
Overall, this is a great guitar to have around. It looks great, sounds great, plays great, and you don't have to worry about someone messing it up. You could buy a new one every week at the price they sell these for.

I bought this Scout at a flea market in Tenessee brand new for 69.00 in 2007. I primarily play bass, but guitar, banjo, piano and some other instruments too. I've played guitar and been raised around music all my life. The finish on this guitar is gloss black with some minor flaws, but I'm not taking it to a guitar show. It's a dreadnought body, stays in tune perfectly, (REPLACE ORIGINAL STRINGS WITH GOOD ONES!) Tunes great, Neck is perfect size for me.
Manufacture date I'm not sure of, but was made in China. No pickups.

I tell you, After I bought the guitar I took it to a guitar store and compared it to MANY guitars: Martin, Gibson, Epiphone, Jay Turser, Washburn, Taylor, Fender, etc. and to tell you the HONEST truth, I wouldn't have traded it to any one of them for my own use. Now to sell, I'd had to trade it, cause, I'm no fool. But to keep and to play, the others were honestly no match. Now, maybe I got an exceptional one, but everyone I've let play it or hear it was just amazed at my 69.00 guitar. It has a perfect tone, perfect ring, perfect lows, harmonics, chording, and just sounds so great. If you are looking for a cheap good sounding, good playing guitar, go check out the Indianas and set and play several of them before you pick. One thing I did notice is I played 6 or more of these and the one I bought had the best sound of them all. It could've been the strings, but I took no chances. Don't waste your money on an overpriced Taylor or Martin. Heck, if you want a reletively expensive guitar just buy a Washburn. But if you want a cheapo, you WILL NOT go wrong with this Indiana Scout!

Beleive it or not, I didn't do anything to the guitar except add new strings. It could probably be a little nicer if I added a brass nut, saddle and pegs, and maybe filed the frets a tiny bit, but no worse than any other guitar. User preference will play a large roll here.

This guitar will certainly hold up to live playing. The hardware seems like it will last, but who cares, putting on new hardware prices still won't make this guitar cost equal it's more expensive rivals. The finish isn't perfect, but as far a durability, I believe it will be fine. Better than Gibson anyway. It's certainly dependable. Once the new strings are broken in, two weeks in the case and it's still in tune. 2 months... still in tune. Yes, I'd take it on a gig with no backup. But, for those of you who do alot of gigs, why would you take any guitar on stage without a backup??

I've been playing for 20 + years. I've played many different guitars including all the famous name brands and some cheap ones. This is one of the best playing, best sounding guitars I have ever heard or owned. I'm thinking about going and getting a couple more just to have around incase they quit making these. Heck, for 69.00 why not??

Built 2003, for the price a decent beginners guitar. factory strings sub par, broke two the first 2 days. (one was my own fault, one just snapped). Action was very high, and tuning pegs not perfect.

For the price, a great beginners guitar, and ahs withstood a few beatings, like falling on ice with only a gig bag to protect it. The action was high, but for ten dollars got it lowered at my guitar shop, and now it plays like a dream. The sound has progressed and is now very warm and bright, and i will own this guitar forever, even if it is broken and put up on my wall like a yuppie restaurant.

I recieved my Scout Nov 2003 as an early Christmas present from my wife. It has the black finish and for a cheap guitar it really looks nice.

The Scout has a nice rich tone. The strings were a little heavy for my tast so I replaced them with DiAderio .009 light gage acoustic strings. There are no buzzes and it stays in tune.

The fit and finish is really very good for an inexpensive guitar. There were no flaws and except for the strings it plays very well. My daughters boyfriend has a Yamaha acoustic and this thing is a dead ringer to it.

As i only use the guitar at home or jamming with friends, I don't really know if it has the stuff for giging. the wood seems to be very soft as i just dinged it the other day. The tuners seem cheap and there was only one strap button(lower). I added one at the base of the neck.

Been playing 40 some years, mostly electric blues Classic Rock and Funked up R&B. I have a 1964 Gibson Melodymaker, 1980 Legend Rock&Roll 50 amp and the Indiana Scout. I checked out acoustic guitars of all sorts and always wanted one that suted me and my budget. I found it in the $100 Indiana, inexpensive and a good player.

I bought mine new about three months ago.I play bass but I wanted something a little quieter and portable just for practice and to help in song writing. It has a maple neck with 20 frets and a laminated top with a beautiful sunburst finish. The tuners are machined and stay in tune very well. It came with no accessories.

Factory set up was horrible. I lowered the action at the nut and the bridge a bunch.I had to level the 14th and 15th frets(right where the neck connects to the body)as they were too high. The strings were crappy and somewhat corroded.I replaced them with a set of medium phospher bronze DR's. The sunburst finish is very nice though there are a couple of scratches on the sides of the fretboard. Note- this was the last one in the store.

I have played the bass for about three years.I have an Ibanez GSR 200 with a Fender Rumble 60 amp and a Digitech multi effects pedal.I bought the Indiana because I didn't have much money to spend on it and it had a good warranty. Not the best quality but it works for what use it for.I bought a Sunlight for my son for the same price and it is a much better instrument.( The price of the Sunlight has has gone up since then.)If lost I would sure spend more time picking out my next guitar.
