My Shannondale was made in China, I purchased it new in 2004. It is a shallowbodied acoustic with I think Piezo pickups internal. It has a cutaway, and has a sunburst finish. Controls are 3 sliders on top to control the High, mid and low levels.

Sound : 8
At home I play this unamplified, but for gigs I use this guitar with a Kustom Sienna30 Acoustic amp. I find the unaplified sound very good, but the volume is fow compared to my Super Jumbo Fender F55 12string acoustic. The amplified sound is good but not as completely acoustic sounding as I would like. The neck is much narower than other acoustics I have used, but is not too norrow for playing.

The guitar came perfectlly set up, but I did get it directly from the manufacturer at a the Frankfurt Germany Music Messe, so it was probabally set up for demonstration before it was displayed. There were no flaws and all the hardware was perfect.

I have used this guitar regularly since it was new and it has been dragged around quite a bit, I do not have a backup for it, it is the only one I take out for gigs. Last year I had to Epoxy the strap buttons in as they were both continually coming loose, but now they are fine. The battery holder broke and had to be held in by an extra guitar pick, but I emailed the distributor in the US and they sent me a new battery holder within a week. Other than this the guitar still looks as good as it did when new.

The customer service people were great, got my replacement warranty part to me with no hassle. This does come with a 10 year limited warranty

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 30 years. If this guitar was lost or stollen I would definately buy the same one again. I did think about replacing it with either an Ovation, or a fender Stratacoustic. This guitar plays and sounds better yhan both of these.

This is a shallow-bowl composite back acoustic/electric guitar. Mine is red burst and looks pretty hot! It has an extended cutaway and and sits well in my lap for playing. I have small hands, so the thin neck works well for me. It has an EQ and volume control. I don't know much about the pick ups, but I wasn't impressed with the plugged-in sound.

Sound : 7
It has a decent sound, but for the price I paid I think I could've gotten better. I found it was hard to get a good bass sound from it. But that's to be expected from a shallow-bowl guitar. It is not as full as bigger-bodied guitar. It does stay in tune VERY well. I once went for 3 months without playing it - came back to it being perfectly in tune. It was great! It sounds best un-plugged.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action is high. It will probably need adjusting if you like it low. Great finish, and I like the composite back. No buzzing at all.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar has traveled across the country, bought in Oregon and flown in the cargo hold of a plane, tossed in a car, taken to gigs, and never had a major problem. The plug jack came loose and fell inside the guitar, but it screwed back on easily when I pushed it back through. I like to ply tjis guitar unplugged.

Never used.

I've played for 7 and 1/2 years, have played an Ovation that truly sounds better. I have a Takamine acoustic/electric that I like better. The Shannondale sells for much cheaper than it used to, so for the new price, it's a pretty good deal. If you like Ovations, but don't want to spend the money, the Shannondale is worth a shot. Have it adjusted and it'll probably work better for you.

For a used guitar off ebay, I couldn't have asked for anything better. Not for sure on what year this model was or is made. I'm glad I own it. My plan was to sell it once I finished school. Well school has been over for awhile and I think I may just keep it. It has an EQ-505 with a volume control knob, and 3 slider treb, mid and bass. Also it has a battery check push button w/ a light to indicate battery power.

Sounds just as well as my Ovation Celebrity CC057. Whatever music style you would use with the Ovation would work on this guitar.
I am using a CRATE XT30RC amp and using the chorus on it. No other effects were needed for me. Full sound. I use it the most these past few months.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action was set well when received. Battery compartment is a tight fit to get out at times.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is comfortable. With a rounded back sort of like my Ovation CC057, this sits on my lap/leg better than my Ovation does, because of the difference in the curvature on the back. This is heavier than my Ovation to, so its durable. Strap buttons are solid. I take mine off the wall and play it almost everyday with no problems. Stays in tune. I was surprised with its reliability after having it for awhile now. One thing I did notice is when I leave the amp chord plugged in the guitar it would drain the battery, so unplugged when finished, there is no problem.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had this option because mine was bought off ebay.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 9 years. I bought this for my second acoustic/electric guitar while I was going through school and didn't want to haul my Ovation with me. So, I found this Indiana Shannondale SRB-N on ebay which is very similiar to it at a good price. Whoever didn't outbid me lost out on a good deal. If it was stolen I would seek to find another Indiana guitar at a good price for my second acoustic/electric. I wish it had onboard tuner. But maybe they will later.
