Features : 9
24 Frets, Alder body w/ Quilted Maple top, H.Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard, bolt-on neck construction, vintage trem (I personally hate these), 25.5" scale, gold hardware, purple sunburst paintjob. Arch-top. 2 SC pickups and 1 HB, not sure what. 1 volume, 1 tone, 5-way switcher. The body looks like the Ibanez SZ's (as used by Steve Holt of 36 Crazyfists, one of the most awesome guitarists alive!), sweeeeeeeeet! Straightforward guitar, the best way to have it, don't let gadgets do the work for you... our guitaring ancestors did without so we should as well! This gets a 9 because of the f**ker of a floating trem in there. Other than that i think its perfect. If only it had a stop or a tune-stop bridge

Sound : 8
This is cool-as for my music style (post-hardcore/emo/goth/punk), when run through my marshall vs-265R. Stock humbucker will be replaced with something like a Seymour Duncan JB, and should sound extremely awesome. I'd never heard of this brand and its really hard to find their home site, so go to "http://www.jandd-guitars.com/" and check it out there if you want. A good heavy guitar, full-sounding, but again i haven't heard it with a JB in the bridge so i don't know exactly how great it could be. But so far i like this, i intend to use it as my guitar of choice for a while, and but another model in the archtop 90X series, maybe the 905B, and put a JB in that one too. I give it an 8 because i don't know how great it COULD sound with a non-crappy SD.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
i have no idea how well it was set up, in fact i was given this second hand. it played good to start off with, it keeps damn good string tension, and the strings are suprisingly high off the body. I don't care (i don't shred obsessively, but i still like to do flourishes/pinches and its harder with strings higher off the 'board), because i'm one for challenges and the more you play the more you adjust, you can't expect to know and understand and respect the instrument on first play. Thats what music is all about, at least what i'm into (while i respect them all, i don't know much about other styles), not making it easy for yourself all the time... eh, thats my philosophy anyway. Keep on pushin' the boundaries, of your music, your genres and yourself.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Shit this guitar is tough, it feels solid as hell. It looks built to take a thrashing where guitars like the SG would snap in two. Its thick, almost as thick (if not as thick) as the LP. This guitar will withstand how I treat guitars live, i tell you i'm not too gentle, i need a toughie like this, my ashton AR282 is slowly falling apart and i have to sell it before i kill it... i should use the $$ to but another one of these babies (a different model though).

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea, can't rate this.

i have been playing electric guitars for about a year now, i got my first in 2003 (an old onyx strat-copy), and have since gotten the following guitars in the following order.. the J&D, an Ashton AR282 and a Samick SG with 3-humbuckers. I've been playing the guitar since I was 10, and i'm 17 now, so 7 years, i'm fairly accomplished at playing my style and am comfortable around any guitar... and the J&D would have to be one of my favourites ever, i like it a lot more than the SG and the LP from gibson, or my ashton, or the cort x-6 my friend has, or any of the (many) strat copies i've seen and played (I swear if i hear another person rave about their strat i'll scream... i've seen them everywhere to the point i'm starting to hate them). Its a hardcore guitar, for metal or grunge or whatever thats on the darker or heavier side of music. My favourite bands 36 Crazyfists, Deftones, Glassjaw, AFI and System of a Down and this guitar fits great into all the styles. No buzzes. No annoyances. Just a rock-steady instrument ready to be thrashed, and still sparkling the next time you reach out for it. If only girls were more like this guitar (Kidding!). No really, this is awesome. Pity it isn't set neck, but you can't win them all. Thats why its only a 9.
