Alder body rather than mahogany I think ... however this is definitely a Les Paul - one of the most impressive LP clones on the market right now. It plays and sounds how you would expect, looks great and obviously has all the feautres a Les Paul should.

I've done a little reading and it seems that J&D are an OEM maker who mostly build for other companies such as Epiphone and Aria, which is probably why their own-brand stuff is so much cheaper.

Sound : 9
The pickups seems to be pretty decent, my main amp is a Fender but I have a Vox AD15VT which lets you play with loads of different sounds and I am not disappointed by this guitar on any of them. Sure if you go buy a pair of Bare Knuckles it will sound better but that would be like doubling the cost of the thing!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The shop I bought it from seem to be really good at doing their setups pre-sale, so I got it with the action I wanted, and the finish and frets are spot on. They did say in the shop that J&D stuff really benefits from a good setup, but any decent retailer should be doing that for you anyway.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Looks like it will take a battering ... in fact a few knocks will start to make it look like a 'real' Les Paul! If these guys are making guitars for Epiphone then it's good enough for me. I'd gig the guitar without a backup but you will always break strings from time to time, so it'd be stupid not to have a spare.

Customer Support : No Opinion
They don't have a great website but I'd be very confident that my dealer would sort out any problems I might have. Can't see what there is to go wrong really though.

Overall Rating : 10
A cracking Les Paul for peanuts. Their website has some others with fancy quilted finishes and stuff, I'd like a look at one of them although my honeyburst one is nice.

I wouldn't bother buying an Epi or even Tokai LP when you can have a serious instrument like this for this price!

it has two volume and two tones. made from Japenese wood.It has the basic les paul features mother of pearl fret, toggle, humbucks, gorgeous tension on the strings. easy to bend no matter what gage u use. however there is nothing outstanding. apart from the headstock and the grain is gorgeous. BIG DOWNFALL is that the scratch panel screw rubs against it and has scratched the varnish of it :'(

Sound : 9
the sound through clean is gorgeous but through distortion its a beast. its great for jazz or heavy. amazing but it could be better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
The set up was terrible. I had to spend #25 because the guy thought that i had done it because it was that bad

Reliability/Durability : 10
stays intune, everything is just how i bought it except under the scratch panel but thats not that bad either. I use it in my gigs all the time its GRRR8

Customer Support : 2

Made in China! It's a Les Paul Custom copy, but made of Alder instead of Mahogany. Top and neck made of maple.
Pickups are loud but not precise in sound.
My technician had to change frets for 2,8 ones - now its better!!
He also made wiring as on Jimmy Page's guitar - with my own specific needs and also installed an active. New potentiomers are push-pull.
A very important thing - it isa set-neck construction that rocks!!
I'm still planning to change pickups - if i don't byu another guitar earlier :))

Sound : 8
I love Les Pauls. think you'll agree with me.
the sound is quite cool with all the changes my technician made.
I play Hardrock - Blues - Psychodelic in my Moskow band BLUESTATE. By the way If you ever to Moscow - come to our concerts!!!
It's not noisy at all - if everythingis right with your equipment. Currently I use Custom-made tube preamplifier and Dunlop Crybaby.
I like the sound of my guitar, but I wish it was Mahogany so that sound had more "Les Paulness" -Right now it sounds cool but different - I'd say it's similar or even better than Gobson's LP Studio Light which costs 5 times more!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
When I bought the guitar it was in perfect condition - During the gigs and concerts it surely got some abuse - few ticks. But it's durable i'd say!!!
as lots of adjustments weremade I can't remember how it feeled like new, but now it feels like REAL Les Paul more than some Gibson Les Pauls!!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Yeah!!!!! Everything in this point is OK - you can depend on it -it's solid. You can drop it - but not from a skyscraper :)))AND you can go out at -20 (here in Russia it's really a problem - it's cold here!!!)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it thouhg had a warranty for a year. Seems difficult to contact Chineeze plant - don't know how and don't know what for :)))

Overall Rating : 8
For the price - cool guitar. And this is my second axe. i quite love it and plan to retain it for different tunings as i get another one(s). I'll kill anybody who has any bad intetions on my gear.
i don't think that I'd bought it now - if you have money - look for an American or Japaneeze guitars - they have better wood.
BUT - Comparing to the guitars of the same price - it's cool - if you don't mind changing frets and electronics :)))))))))
I still want a real Gibson.......................
