I own a right handed LS-1, which was built in Korea.
It has a pretty Cherry Sunburst finish. It looks good.
The humbuckers have been waxed, they should be off course.
It has a slim 60s neck, which I think plays perfect.
The cutaway is sharp, not rounded, like the Gibson version.
The neck has NOT been glued in. I don't expect it to be for the price.

For the price, ???140, this Les Paul model is pretty good.
And a Les Paul should be heavy, and this one is.

Rating: not a full 8, I guess a 7.7. It is good for such a low price.

Sound : 8
I play usually rock and punk like things.
At home I use a simple Behringer GM108 Amp, because at home don't need much more.
I've used the guitar with a Boss OS-2 pedal, and a Boss ME-50 multi-effect pedal.
Overall I think the sound is quite OK. The neck pickup sounds very warm, which I like.
Using high gain the humbuckers do indeed become microphonic, the neck pickup faster than the bridge pickup does. You can decrease it by turning the volume a little lower, and by using less gain (can also sound rad enough).
On stage I had the guitar plugged in on a bigger amp, which was directlty connected to the PA system. The audience had a good sound, and my humbuckers didn't scream.

Overall: for the price the sound is awesome.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I got some good pieces of wood! The cherry Sunburst looks really pretty.
There was a small kind of a scratch on the finish though! But I didn't think it was a big problem.

The guitar was set up pretty well, the action comes real low! Awesome.

The pickups were set up ok, I think that's something for your own taste. However the rythm and treble were balanced out good.

Reliability/Durability : 7
The guitar will defenitely withstand live playing as long as you don't do strange things with it. The volume and tone swithes might get loose a little bit when you are not carefull with them.
The 3rd string sometimes gets a little out of tune when doing string bends and the 4th string is a little hard to tune.

One strap button became loose but I fixed it just with a screwdriver :) no problem at all.

Overall, for the price this quitar is really solid as long as you are careful.

Customer Support : No Opinion
It has a 3 year warranty and a 30 days all money back guarantee.
(Musicstore.com)
It was ordered by internet but I have visited the shop in Cologne, and they were friendly there. If you live near Cologne you should have good customer support.

I'm not experienced enough to rate this, though.

Overall Rating : 8
If this guitar was stolen or lost, I wouldn't buy it again because this guitar is perfecty suitable for beginners. Eventually you will need something better.
It might be a good backup, though.
The really best thing about it is the price! This guitar is very good for its price. (all ratings done in comparison to price)

THIS GUITAR IS VERY GOOD FOR BEGINNERS, REALLY!!!

I have the lefthanded model (LS-1-L), but the features should be the same. It's a Les Paul Copy in Cherry Sunburst (nice!).
These are the features as listed on their site:
Construction: Left Hand
Body: Alder or Mahogany
Neck: Maple or Mahogany
FingerBoard: Rosewood
Scale Length: 628mm
Radius: 350mm
Frets: 22
Machine Head: Kluson Type, Die-Cast
Tremolo: Tune-O-Matic Bridge
Hardware: Chrome
Pickups: Chrome, Ceramic
Pickguard: Humbucking x 2, IV P/Guard
Controls: 2 Volume, 2 Tone,
3 Way Toggle Switching

Now I don't know if mine's alder or mahagony but it sure is heavy!
If you look from the side you can see the body is made out of 5 pieces of wood. But it is wood. :-)

Sound : 8
First of all I put 010 strings on it.

Without amp it's very resonant. Nice full tone.
I will try to compare it to my old Ibanez RG470 which is equipped with DiMarzio and Duncans is made of lighter wood and has a tremolo.
The J&D sound much thicker through an amp. The cleans are warmer and the distorted sound is, well also thicker, also alittle less bright. It is more of a rock guitar not so much a metal axe.
The sustain is great! Very long.

I must say that the pickups were microphonic (they squealed if you used loud, distorted sounds). But I knew that since the previous reviewer wrote that and so I wax potted them.
Now the neck PU is quiet. The bridge almost (maybe I'll pot it again?)

That beeing said, the pickups sound ok to me. The bridge is rocking and the neck is veeeery thick, maybe al little too much so.

My rating is based on the wax potted version.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The guitar was set up ok.
It had a very low action. Right on the edge of buzzland.
So, I made the action higher. I'm also used to higher action. I don't like it too low.

There ware to little flaws:
1. there's one (exactly one!) fret that still buzzes.
2. the fretwire edges were sharp. But I was prepared for this so I filed them down and now it's.

Oh, and there is a minor finishing flaw on the side, but that doesn't disturb me. The top looks great.
Everything else was allright. Even the routing is well made.
The guitar looks beatifull!

After filing down the fretwire edges it would be a 7-8.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Haven't played it live yet. I'm still not sure how well the wax potting of the bridge pu worked. I will either pot it again or maybe change the pickup.
But then i will surely use it live.

Reliability??
It's made of wood. It's heavy. It's bolted together well. So I think it is reliable, after you have done something against microphonic pu.

Overall Rating : 8
Alright, you get a great guitar for 177EUR (~200$).

If you can deal with the fretwire problem and the microphonic pickups by either potting them or changing them, then I can recommend this guitar.

I don't know how it compares to Epiphones, Gibsons or other Les Pauls. (Being a lefty I can't just go into stores and play them :-(. )
But you'll get a solid, playable, good sounding guitar.

I've had it for little more than a year and a half.
It's a Les Paul Goldtop copy.

It has the early goldtop color (NO bullion gold) and a bolted thin (60's) neck. But other than that it looks like a '57 with humbuckers.

I've recently found a photo of it... ... along with other J&D guitars.

It's a russian site, so I don't understand what they say. But it'll give you some idea of what it looks like.

Sound : 7
Acousticly it sounds alot like a Les Paul. But plugged in you can hear the difference alot clearer. It doesn't sound necessaraly bad, but it sounds a little different.

I think the humbuckers has alot to do with it. Personaly im thinking about repacing them. Not sure with what, just yet.

They allso have have a tendency to glitch (the signal spikes) sometimes when playing through a wah-wah or at high volumes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
To be honest I don't remember how the action was when I bought it. But it's a Paul - it's suposed to be low.

The fretts are way to sharp, not that you cut yourself on them. But they could sure have been done alot better. Could be worth grinding down.

The finish is ok, considering what I payed for it.

The tuners are exceptionly good. Still im thinking of replacing them with groovers. Just for the look of it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I havn't played it Live. But I think it can withstand a lot.

I have accidentaly knocked it in to the wall a few times, but without any marks so far.

The electronics seem to do fine, except for the humbuckers, as I mentioned earlier. And little problem with the pickup switch. But it was easily solved.

Customer Support : 3
None, what I know of. I guess you have to get in touch with the store you bought it from. According to Swedish Law there IS A TWO YEAR WARRANTY!

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for about three years. I own a Fender Bronco, Peavy Classic 30 and a Gibson Les Paul Standard 2002.

You can't compare it with a real Gibson, though. But it is a good backup!!!

Personly I HATE the Epiphone heads. This one has a "real" Gibson head, in my opinion. Except for the logo of course. This was the main reason I bought this guitar ( i didn't know better back then ). But im not sorry. ;-)

If it were stole or lost i would try to get a hold of a nother one. But this time as a "Sunburst", and with a glued neck. If J&D has one???!!!

It's a good guitar if your willing to work on it, or if you don't have such high standards. Considering the price.
