Foreign made electric guitar. Dunno where, some asian country like Japan or China I think. 24 Frets, Neck-thru (!YAY!). Interesting shape, reminiscent of Ibanez SZ, suprisingly small-looking. transparent finish, so you can just see the wood (looks like racing stripes, awesome!). Tune-o-matic bridge, gold hardware. 3-a-side machine heads and this odd-shaped headstock. 25.5" scale. Solid Ash Arch-top, Maple neck with Nayto (?). Rosewood fingerboard. High-output 2 Humbucker setup. Think that's about all in this section... its rather straightforward, I love guitars like this.

I played it on some Legend amp at the store. The clean was beautiful, mellow and smooth and sounded oddly rounded. Reminded me very much of the verse tune in Hoobastank's "The Reason" (Beautiful song, by the way). Low notes are also very rounded, as with the highs, kinda like creed too. The fingerstyle picking of the intro to "One Last Breath" sounded really close to the actual song. On distortion I was doubly impressed. Bridge pickup grinds and is sharp (But not too sharp) as it should be, and is REALLY hot. I put a shiteload of distortion through it and palm muted a low note and ohhhh... Beautiful. Great for thick rhythms. Up high its sharp and great. I tried some Minor and Sus chords on distortion and the chord sounded really great, each string had its own voice, not a mush of notes forming into mud, where you can't hear the high notes. I did some tapping and it was sharp and repsonsive, always keeping that roundedness on the note. The intro to "The Leaving Song Part II" By AFI was easy to play for a hard piece. I also tried some pinches. Oddly, the higher pinches were more difficult than the low ones. Low ones just sprung out easily like I was doing something subconscious like a Hammer-on. The higher ones sounded good though, it could be my not being used to a 24-fret neck... i'm sure i'll adjust. Having the pickups set in the middle (front p/u from back, back p/u from front) made a great sound with balance of treble and bass that sounds fabulous. It sounds like a guitar that should be worth a lot more, and feels like one too. Great instrument, and looks hell awesome!! Great for my style (Hardcore/Metal/Punk/Alternative)
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action was great, maybe even a little low for me, i'll probably adjust. Strings seemed a little light. Pickups were at just the right height. There was a little bit of scratching on the finish on the side of the neck but hey, who'll see that? It was real comfortable and the finish I liked a lot, not really shiny, but dull and smooth, less worry about fingerprints. The gold hardware looks fab. It adds a bit of class to this otherwise rugged looking axe. Knobs were quiet, wiring seemed all great. Comfortable too, with the neck-thru construction.

I'm almost positive this attractive and beautiful sounding guitar will strand up to live playing. Its solid and thick, rugged, and a chip here and there (and even some duct tape) would make it look even cooler. I'd use it at a gig without a backup, but I have a backup anyway so it doesn't matter. Seems great though, i'd depend on it definitely
Customer Support

No Opinion
No idea about the brand, i only just found their site on the net after owning one of their guitars for around 10 months or so. The guy from the shop was awesome though, knew what he was doing and was an all-round good person. I'd bought much stuff from him before anyway, but he was great about holding it for me out the back in its case for however long I needed to pay it off. Hurrah!

I've been playing electric guitars for one year now. I've been through four (this is my fifth), they include: Onyx Custom Craft (Strat Copy), J&D Luthiers 906, Ashton AR-282, Samick SG-Custom Copy (3-humbuckers) in that order. Out of all those the Ashton is my favourite and my current guitar of choice, but I think when I pay this one off this will take its place. On-stage I play through a Marshall Jackhammer (Soon to be sold to buy a Boss Metal Zone) into a Marshall Valvestate 2x65 combo with reverb. At home I have a Roland Cube 15 with an Arion OD. The ashton sounds sweet through both setups, but the S880 I'm sure will sound better. I really love the neck-thru construction. It feels great and sounds almost lightly compressed. This is great because the sharpness and peaks in the ashton's sound really used to get to me, it seemed to sound hollow. This doesn't. (The ashton is set-neck, btw). I think this is great for the price and i'd think about buying another if it were lost. Fabulous, and i haven't even had time to bond with it yet.
