Had to give this a "10" because it was everything I asked for!!

Sound : 10
This guitar fits with everything Ive played so far. Jazz, Blues, Metal, everything. Playing it through an Engl Savage 120 head w/4x12 Mesa cab loaded with Vintage 30's. And a Dr.Z Maz 18 1x12 combo. Mostly play metal, but all other styles are easily accomplished.

Thick warm sound, that's very articulate. Nice mids, balanced low-end, and smooth highs. The most versatile of 10 guitars that I own.

I have no dislikes at all with this guitar, I love this thing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Setup was great. A little high for my tastes, but easily remedied.
Pickups were adjusted to an optimum height, sounded great.
Top matched perfectly.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is built like a tank!!
The quality components used, make me believe that this thing will last a lifetime. I always add straplocks to my guitars just for my peace of mind. But the strap buttons were really solid, no play at all in them.
I wouldnt ever gig without a backup, yet again just for my peace of mind.

Jim is the man!! After just meeting him, he seemed like an old friend. Cordial and accomodating with his knowledge and time. He stands behind his guitars 100%. Ive never had any problems, and I know if I did, JIm would rectify them, quickly! Lifetime warranty on all his guitars, cant ask for any better than that!

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for 18 years. I have owned 9 different PRS in that time, as well as, Ibanez, Charvel, Taylor, Ovation, and Rahan customs. This guitar has become my #1 piece out of 10 guitars I currently own. In any price range this guitar would be a value. But at the price point Jim sells them at, they're a steal!! Nothing lacking, since it was built to my specs. Ive got another Nunis custom in the works right now, and cant wait to get it!!!

If you want a custom guitar, built to exact specs, with shining customer service, and a wealth of builder knowledge, give Jim a call!!!

Product: J. Nunis Custom Guitars Custom Single Cut
Price Paid: US About the same as a new LP Standard Plus

In July of 2005, I just Purchased The J. Nunis custom (single cut away) directly from Jim himself, built right here in the grate state of Georgia,USA. This guitar was handmade "by Jim" to my exact specs!! My custom features a solid mahogany body with an outrageous 5A quilted Maple top!! With A Faded cherry sunburst finish,, BEAUTIFUL!! The neck is Flame Maple, set, with an ebony board. The cool thing about the neck and board is, Jim offers a wide range of inlay patterns you can choose from. I chose a slanted rectangle in true mother of pearl that just sets the ebony board off!! The neck has the same feel as my '95 Les Paul Standard, Just the way I wanted it. The pickups I ordered are a Duncan SH-6 in the bridge and a Duncan Pearly Gates in the Neck.

The tone of this guitar is simular to a Paul. You get a nice warm tone on high gain or with the gain backed off. Playing clean,, I like to set the pick ups in the center position to get a nice phat low end from the pearly Gates and my high end from the SH-6,, It makes your clean "clean". Any time I'm above the 12th fret 9 times out of 10 I'll be set on the neck pick up, you can hold a note on this thing for ever. Especially on the 12th and 14th fret. You loose a little above the 14th but it still sings. The only dislike I have is I don't have as much variety in tones. I will probably have to split the coils on the pick ups if I want more range of tones.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action on my J. Nunis custom is right on the board. So much so,, I had to have Jim bring it up a tad before I brought it home. It had some minor fret buzz but after the adjustment it was right on. The top is just amazing! I could not believe how nice it turned out. Perfectly bookmatched. I have not found any flaws in the top or finish as of yet.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I haven't gigged with this guitar yet. I've mainly played it at home and at rehersal,, so far, it seems to be molding to me. The guitar is so light (right at 8.5 lbs) it just feels great in your hands and is so easy to play. Just as a precaution, I had strap locks installed as I do on all my guitars. "Would you use it on a gig without a backup"? I never play a gig without a back up! It's definatly a very depenable and soild built guitar.

Customer Support : 10
Jim has called me on several occasions to check on the performance of the guitar. I haven't had any complaints yet. I get a strong feeling that Jim stands behind the quality of his work and will go the extra mile to satisfy his customers.

Overall Rating : 10
I have to say,, I was alittle apprehesive about buying a custom built hand made guitar. I just didn't know how it would turn out. I had an opprtunity to play a J. Nunis custom about 3 months ago,, and that's when I made up my mind to have Jim build me one.

I do compare this guitar to that of a Les Paul and a PRS. I wanted something simular to each but not just another LP or PRS, so I went with the J. Nunis,, And I'm glad I did,, I LOVE THIS GUITAR!!

I plan on having another one built in the near future. Jim offers so many different features,, I just need sometime to figure out what I want!!

Peace!
