I already have one acoustic 6-string jumbo JB Player for many years and I have enjoyed it a great deal. I was looking to get started with a 12-string and thought about JB Player. I bought this 12-string guitar online in 2008. It cost about a hundred dollars and am very happy with this purchase. The guitar is plain and simple with no flashy features but it is a great deal for the price.

Sound : 10
The sound is great. I tried many 12-string guitars and this one has a wonderful stable, bright, full 12-string sound, better than far more expensive guitars that I've played. It fits very nicely to country, folk and rock styles. I haven't tried amplifying it yet but recorded it through a Shure SM57 microphone into my computer and the result is satisfactory. There are no special noises from the guitar. It played great for chords all the way to the 12 fret but playing solo on it will be limited to the first 9 frets or so (depending on your style).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
There are very small flaws in the guitar that do not affect the laying or sound. There is one flaw in the first upper fret on the very top but not where you actually play the guitar. The head of the guitar is quite large relative to other acoustics I've seen. It did not fit into the gig bag that was recommended next to it online and I had to buy a hard-shell box for it, but that's no big deal and probably even better for a longer life for the guitar. The tuning pegs look solid and hold tuning, which is a good thing for a 12-string.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I haven't taken this guitar on stage yet but it seems durable to me after almost a year of playing but that is too early to form an opinion about durability. So far so good.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed any and doubt that there is such a thing for a
$100 guitar.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing a JB Player acoustic for 12 years and this 12-string for one year. I enjoy them both very much. They are great value for money. If you want to get started with a 12-string and looking for a great sound start with this one.

Indonesia made, 20 fret, solid top (I think) no elecs, spruce and mahogany dreadnought.

Sound : 10
I was at the Guitar Center in Hollywood looking at Martin and Guild 12-strings, when this guitar jumped up at me. The $99 price tag was certainly interesting enough, so I picked it up and gave it a whirl. I tell you, the sound and intonation of this guitar simply impressed the hell out of me. This sounded better than most $800-$1000 12-strings out there. Hell, it sounds better than my 68 Gibson B25-12N.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action was set just low enough to play at the 10th-11th fret without too much buzz. The tuners were loose, but the damn thing was used and I have tools....so, moving on...it is a bare-bones 12, so not much else to say about that...

Reliability/Durability : 9
oh, I think live/gig playing would be fine once a fishman gets installed. The guitar is extremely stable and holds it's tune. Even after playing Love Buzz.

oh, c'mon....it's a $99 guitar....
