I just bought a jb player spruce top A-style mandolin. The top is a blonde finnish to look like a vintage mandolin. The neck, back, and head are stained red with the blonde top it looks really nice. The tuners are chrome, and the small neck makes it so easy to chord on. No accessories, this mandolins gives off a Bill Monroe feel with I really love.

Sound : 8
I am a guitar player but I decided to get a mandolin because they are alot easier to travel with. The chords are very full and rich, with the double strings it is like playing tweleve string guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action seems very high, and tight with alot of string tension. On flaws it even still had the pickguard cover. It also has thick white body binding resembling the old martin and gibson guitars. With the intials JBP on the head.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I am going to use at a few bluegrass festivals,I am not going to use a backup because I cannot afford the second mandolin right now. It seems very dependable and I have two Epiphone guitars that are not this durable. It is a very heavy durable body that reminds me of the old kay mandolins which were built like a sherman tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I bought it on sale at the local music shop and nothing was said about a warranty.

Overall Rating : 5
I have been playing the guitar for 15 years,Epiphone Biscuit dobro,Alvarez regent acoustic guitar,Oscar Schmidt Banjo, and a couple older violins. I was thinking about buying one of the cheaper johnson mandolins from the internet for around $100.00. I was on phone talking to the local guitar shop he told me about the johnsons bad craftmenship. He told me to at least go to the shop and look at it. So I ended up with a great mandolin however paying over double the price.
