2005 24 fret Jackson SL1 Soloist. Black guitar w/ all black hardware including the Floyd Rose tremelo, 1 double active EMG bridge PU, 2 EMG singles, 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob, 5-way PU switch. Neck-thru body, sharktooth inlay, locking nut. Came with the Jackson rectangular case.

Sound : 8
I played in a heavy metal bar band through the mid to late 80's into the mid 90's and used a Charvel/Jackson Model4 with a sanded neck. I had played Jacksons before so i knew that the Jackson would fit my style.

The locking nut and floating tremelo makes the thought of tuning down to 430 very difficult at the very least, which has always been an issue for me from most of my guitars being the same. That is one disadvantage as well as the floating tremelo can be more difficult to tune until you get the hang of it.

Though it is not as rich as the LP I like the sound of this guitar. The neck-thru body is much nicer than the the bolt on and helps keep the sustain.

Great setup. I love how it stays in tune! Beautiful guitar! The guitar came well intunated.

I do not like the strings but new i wouldnt so bought new ones right then.

The guitar feels and looks great! A real work of art. The guitar is just simply built to rip. Zero flaws and has great action. I may andust it slightly to lower the strings but for now it works great.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar will withstand playing on the road for years! My last Charvel/Jackson did so i know this one will do the job even better. The hardware is very strong and similar to my last one so i know it will hold up for the 20 years like the last one did. I would always use a back up guitar when gigging lol. Actually i learned that lesson while in a battle of the bands i broke a string with no back up and actually borrowed a top of the line jackson to finsh and fell in love with it =)

I bought the guitar from Guitar Center in Fredricksburg, VA. It was by far a pleasure to buy from them and will continue to buy anything I need from them. Great store! The exact guitar I wanted was not in stock so they let me take a brand new SL1 home to use until my guitar was made, that is the most amazing customer service i have ever experienced! Cutomer for life.

I have been playing for like 20 years, I used and still use a Hot rodded Marshall Master Lead 100 watt Head, ADA MP1 tube preamp, Alesis midi-verb III and an Alesis noise reduction/compressor through a Mesa/Boogie 4x12 top cab.

I went in to Music Center to buy a brand new Les Paul Custom but after playing it for a while i found it would not stay in tune. I stretched the strings repeatedly but it just would not stay. After playing a guitar for years that never needed tuning i couldnt bring myself to drop $3,000 on this guitar so i said let me see that PRS and didnt think it was all that, nice but not the end all. So then i said let me try that SL1 ive been reading about ;) I really liked it, it felt a lot like my last one with a much better neck and was so much cheaper than the LP i had to get it. It does not sound as rich as the Les Paul but it is good and after playing it I truly love it even more and know i made the right desicion. Im teaching a guy using a Les Paul so I know how they sound(great) and how they dont stay in tune very well.

If it were stolen, I would have no choice but to go get another one immediately.

If I could build the dream guitar it would have the majority of this guitar and just a few changes with replacing the 5-way switch with a switch per pickup.

If you are looking for a guitar that stays in tune and plays well with great action and has good sound get this one!

I give the Jackson USA Soloist SL1 a 10 due to playing top of the line guitars and feeling like this one took first place! I would make the dream guitar a little different but this one is almost perfect. Great Job, Jackson!

Straight out of USA custom shop in 1995. Has alder body with highly flamed maple top, quartersawn maple neck, ebony fretboard, ivoroid bound neck and headstock, 24 frets 6100 wire, mother of pearl sharkfin inlays and logos (both jackson and custom shop), recessed tremolo cavity, all this with a transparent green finish (really sharp looking). Has a REAL floyd rose locking tremolo system, standard non-locking tuners. Two humbuckers - Dimarzio Tone Zone (bridge) and PAF Pro (Neck) with 3 way toggle selector, 1 vol and 2 tone controls.

Sound : 10
This guitar is the best for what i play, mostly metal & progressive styles, but im sure with the right pickups and string gauges that other tones can be achieved for different musical styles. I run this guitar through my MESA/Boogie Mk IV head with MESA 4X12 cabinet, have a TC Electronic M-One, Roland GP-16, and BBE 482 sonic maximizer in my effects loop. The tone is incredible, i can bypass the fx loop, play straight thru the amp and still achieve great tones. I can make this baby scream, moan, and beg for more, she will always sound good. Harmonics are awesome (double octave neck, COME ON!)...no noise at all (that's what humbuckers are for)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought this guitar used from a fellow who hardly played it, so it sat in a hardshell case untouched for 5 years and remained mint (could still smell the oils when i opened the case). I had a pro set-up done on it with ernie ball flat wound strings (9 - 42) and bamn hello ma'am. I traveled faster than any other guitarist has ever gone before...the sustain is quite a surprise (all to the advantage of neck thru design and construction)...the action is set-up as low as possible with no fret buzzing, the pickup/string clearances are just right, the floyd is even (the guy who did the set-up knew what he was doing, if u in LI area, email and ill lead to the right dude) This guitar is flawless (from the macroscopic level)...Everyone who has seen this guitar (esp. those who know guitars) have complimented the flamed maple top...it's one of a kind. Look at www.jacksonguitars.com in the archives section on page 2, it's the green girl, i named her GWEN (phonetic for Green and a cut Girl name)

Reliability/Durability : 10
I always play with a backup (my other Jackson!!! haha) because you never know what a floyd rose can do after a while of hard playing and shredding...I maintain my guitars and equipment, i wipe her body down after each and every usage (to maintain free of dust, sweat, and moisture, etc), clean the strings, oil the fretboard to keep from cracking(lemon oil on ebony and rosewood boards is highly recommended, never baby oil)...The standard strap buttons are good surprisingly, but i dont throw my babies around like some idiots do (i play precisely, no room for sloppiness)...Jackson engineered and produced an amazing piece of art here!

Never had problems with this guitar...I know dealers who work directly with Jackson and they never complain about the employees...I dont know much about the warranty on it since i didnt need it...I'm giving it the fair rating because I have yet to deal personally with Jackson and only heard by ear as to how good they are...Customer service is something i would very much like to experience in due time

I've been playing for 13-14 years...I own a Jackson RR-1 with all the goodies yes (check the review out if interested)...If it were stolen? - i don't talk about those things BUT GOD FORBID if i catch the mo-fo who tries, i know this river where bodies are popular for floating around (catch my DRIFT?)...I love this guitar because after playing fender strats & les pauls, i realize this baby has a little bit of both of them guitars in one (neck thru, strat body, light weight, double humbuckers, tone, etc.)...I would like to say that my next purchase will be a custom shop soloist, but this will have an archtop, H-S-H pickup configuration, maple fingerboard, mohogany body & neck, and im still undecided on whether to go with a Floyd Rose or the Tune-0-Matic this time....Friends!! i speak from my heart, Jackson USA will make an outstanding guitar for you (well worth the price) Jackson is the ultimate in craftsmanship, precision, dedication, and passion when it comes to their product...the closest to Jackson perfection are Brian Moore Guitars (PRS and the rest can take a hike)...what's the logo?? that's right ~~THE EVOLUTION OF THE SOUL~~~~~
