OK, first of all, this guitar is NOT a reverse. It has the Jackson JT580 Licensed Floyd Rose tremelo, a s/s/h configuration with Duncan Design pickups, 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob, and a 5 way p/u selector. 24 fret rosewood with rock maple oil finished neck, and amber flamed maple top with a matt-silver type of finish on the hardware.
Sound

Well, this thing sounds pretty good stock, but the Duncan Design pickups seems to be a little bit muddy sometimes, not too bad though concidering this thing comes with these pickups, and most of the stock pickups on the lower end jacksons dont sound anywhere near as good so I cant complain too much, but if you have the cash I reccomend doing like I did and dropping some real Duncans in it. I got this guitar in Christmas of '00. I have been running this thing through a G80RCD Marshall combo, which don't sound too bad, I know, I know, it's solid state but probbaly one of the best solid state combos made, and it sounds really good with this guitar stock, dont get me wrong, these pickups sound excellent with clean tone, especially the neck pickup, but I'm a big metal head and I had to have something that would scream on the highsand bark on the lows so I through a SD Screamin Demon in the bridge and hotrails in the middle and neck and now this thing is a pure beast, the tone is awesome, and the guitar has awesome sustain for a tremelo guitar.

Well, I bought this thing from some guitar shop on ebay, my final bid didnt meet the reserve but I guess the shop wanted to get read of it so they emailed me and said I could have it for the final bid which I found out later was only $30 from the reserve price. So, anyways, I got the guitar, pulled it out of the case, and man, I almost busted a nut on myself, I mean, in all fairness wether this thing be Jap made or not, it's a beautiful damn guitar. The flame on the topis just awesome on mine, and I like the silver color of the hardware but I do plan on putting chrome on this thing later on down the road, original Floyd, locking nut....etc..etc..The neck has a really nice profile, its fast and easy, and the guitar itself has a very controlled feel to it, like you know exactly what will happen with it, and the shape of the body has to be the coolest on this guitar, its a super strat style but a little bit smaller than the normal Jackson SS bodies, hence the name "dinky," it fits perfectly to your body because of a deep tapered curve in the back which when standing up and playing leaves a nice space that your stomach tucks right into, so its almost as if the guitar becomes part of you, so I really like that, makes it feel solid and controlled, and we all know the key to a good shredder, or any playing, is control. Now, as far as the action goes, its great, I recieved the guitar and it was already setup pretty damn good, but the strings were 9-40, and well, homie dont play dat, I mean, 9s are ok, but for the bedning and shit that I do I just cant use 9s, I always find myself running the high E right off the fret board, and I overbend with them quite a bit, so I plaid with these 9s on it for about 3 weeks till they started lookin dim, then I took it up to the shop, got the Duncans dropped in, and then had it setup with some 10-42's and it was killer man, the action allows any style, but for me, I do neo-classical metal, which includes arps, and sweeps, and all this fast picking and shit so I needed the action low enough for short string to fret distance, but high to not get a claspy sound when playing fast and bending, so after I got it setup at Mars it was incredible, I absolutely love the playability of this axe. MY only concern was the same problem a gentlmen mentioned earlier, the extremely stiff fine tuners, I dont know what thew hell was up with that, I mean, this guitar stays perfectly in tune, this JT580 trem is a hell of a lot better han the JT500 put on the lower end Jap Jacksons, and its built a lot better too, I suppose that the tuning holes just werent deburd good or something, so I just put a couple drops of 3-in-1 oil in there and they been free spinnin ever since, so don't base your purchase on the tuning keys, its a minor bullshit problem that requires 25 cents worth of oil to free up, and yours might not even have that problem.

Well, let's see, it's damn near the end of Febuary now, I got this guitar somewhere like December 10th 2000, so I've this thing long enough to know what the deal is with it now. I will say, I've had it this long and this guitar is still in brand new condition, other than the loads of DNA I have left al voer the fretboard...haha, but Im getting that cleaned at the next setup. I have accidently bumped it into a couple doors and whatever and had some shit scrape across it and what not and this thing still looks new. Also, the strap buttons kick ass, I've jammed a lot with this thing, I use a plain 80's lookin leather strap and Ive never lost one end of the guitar do to the strap flyin off, so I think your safe there, but I did instal strap locks just to protect the instrument, as I said, I love this fuckin guitar. It's a really durable guitar, I try to take care of my instruments, but I don't baby them like a child either. As far as gigging with this....ITS BEEN DONE!!....and fortunitly nothing went wrong, I mean the only thing that could have was a broken string, but thankfully that didnt happen. If I did use a backup guitar I would just use another one of these.

Well, I know this will sound funny, and probably make you doubt my playing ability but I dont care, you see I'm only 16 years old, not your typical 16 year old though. Im not into the whole Korn, and Limp seen, I mean, this guitar will do that shit perfectly, just drop it into D and go, but that ain't my cup of tea, you see, I'm a big shred head, Vai, Malmsteen, Satch, Gilbert and so on and so forth, my point being, don't think of me as some other drop D rapcore junky, cause I'm not, I'm totally an 80's metal head, and I like some of the new neo-classical metal bands like Symphony X and Metalium and all that shit. OK, here's the part you might find hard to believe, but I don't care, it's the truth, I only been playing for about 14 months, I got my first guitar in Christmas of '99, now, the thing is, I was expelled from school nearly all of that year because I got busted with some weed, and, well, I won't get into that, so I basically sat on my ass at home all that time playing guitar for about 4 hours a day, I cruised olga and guitarnotes and learned some songs, and some licks, and well, soloing was my first love, I started soloing about a month after I started playing, starting off with blues and shit, then as time progressed and my playing progressed I got into the really harccore shit, arpeggios, sweeps, and those sweet ass diminished runs that my main man Yngwie does, so basically I have dedicated my life to the guitar, you don't understant, I love the guitar, it's all that matters to me, I plan on making it big with the guitar, and this may sound arrogant, or whatever, but I plan on being greater than Yngwie, I have been playing for 14 months and I can already do some pretty peppy arps, and some pretty fast runs, but enough bullshit about me, none of this even matters to you, stop sitting there and go and buy this damn guitar!!!!...this guitar kicks ass, I was originaly gonna get a USA soloist, but after playing one I decided that I didn't want it because the neck is finished, and well, I could save shit loads of money just getting this DK, so anyways, I've said too much, go buy the damn guitar, and email me if you have any questions, thanks!!

The DK 2 is NOT a reverse headstock guitar, it is the professional(import) version of the now discontinued DK-1.
24 frets, brushed chrome hardware, Duncan Designed HSS pickups, 5 way blade switch, licensed Floyd, sharkfin inlays, trans blue laminate, bound neck, overall a nice guitar
Sound

The Duncan Designed pickups in this were just too weak for me, it would be good for blues and classic rock but a pickup swap would be needed for me to make it a stage guitar.
Nice clean sound but not much punch, decent harmonics with the bridge but I could tell the difference when switching guitars - I would have to up the volume.

got the guitar from ebay and it arrived with the wrong nut clamps, the dealer replaced them, I had to do my own setup, but I do that on almost all my guitars, the fine tuners were EXTREMELY stiff, almost to the point that you could not turn them by hand, oil and working them solved this but I have never run into this on a Jackson, top is nice, fretboard and finish was good

Good guitar for someone who can't afford or justify a USA made Jackson, I didn't like the neck profile or the pickups and traded it within a month.
However, I recommend trying one, I am very picky about the feel of my guitars and bought this without playing it.
It would be ideal for someone who isn't into the speed necks and heavy music.

Japanese made, 24 frets, see jacksonguitars.com for total configuration. Pluses: The neck on this guitar plays like no other. For those who play with a classical style (no protruding thumbs) this thin neck is perfect. I prefer the "bare" wood feel on necks so I opted for the DK2 instead of the Soloist, which by nature of the neck-thru has to be painted. The neck is not reversed. Minuses: The fake floyd rose works fine, but after a decade of using a real floyd rose, this one has some annoying characteristics. 1. It sits higher off the bridge and can be in the way for muting the higher strings. 2. Its not as fluid as the real thing. Too much tension? Maybe this can be fixed. Lastly, the volume knob is a little too close to the bridge/bridge pickup.
Sound

Sounds fine, there's a wealth of different tones available because of the HSS pickup configuration. Bridge pickup is more suited for lead solos, and rock/metal; middle and neck pickups together give an awesome clean tone; and each single can be tweaked to give that classic strat sound to the level of Stevey Vaughn. I will probably switch the pickups out at some point. I play through an old Roland GP-16 processor that feeds two Roland KC-300 keyboard/mixer amps. Sorta' like going straight to a board.

Ah, here we go. From the factory the guitar was not set up well. Intonation was off, some string buzz, floyd rose was not set up well. But, I encourage all new guitar owners to get a pro to set up guitars and not rely on a factory to set them up, especially if they have a floyd rose system. Why? A guitar must be set up for an individual, ie., action, string gauge, etc., etc. So even if it were set up from the factory I would have had to get it set up for me. Aside from that, the workmanship isn't really awe-inspiring on this guitar. the work was kind of sloppy around the nut. Its not one of their customs, and cost a third of the customs, but it is a Jackson and one expects very high quality. Nothing that interferes with its playability or sound was wrong. After a proper setup the guitar plays very well.

Seems durable, built for live playing. I mainly do home studio work so I am not very hard on guitars. Gig without a backup? With guitars having a floyd rose? Are you insane? Ever hear a floyd-equipped guitar after a string breaks? Ever change a string on a floyd? I guess at a gig a string break equals set break.

Sorry Jackson, but the world has to know. Dealing with Jackson Guitar company is no joyride. First, I wanted a Black, Left-handed DK2. The Jackson sales rep told me there are no more black DK2s and convinced me to get candy blue and told me it would be 3-4 weeks for delivery. OK. After 4 weeks we called and said where is the guitar? Oh, we're shipping it Monday. Next Friday we say where's the guitar? Oh, we're shipping it next Monday. The next Friday we say where's the guitar? They say Oh, we dont expect any Candy blues for 3-4 more weeks, but we do have Black Lefty DK2s in stock. So, they then send me a RIGHTY Black DK2. So, after a month of run arounds, I finally get the lefty guitar. Would I buy another one? I'd rather rip my right arm off and beat myself to death with it.

Been playing for 29 years now. Previously played a lefty USA BCRICH Strat bought in 1989 that was awesome but it developed a warp in the neck that couldn't be properly fixed. Also play a 1980 Yamaha SBG2000 for jazz and some mellow stuff. If the Jackson were stolen I would be forced to find an alternative, but there isn't much out there like this one. I might spend the extra thousand and get an ESP. To summarize, I like the neck a lot, hate the company. Compared to their competition, Ibanez, I think the Jacksons are a little higher quality, both in finish and sound.
