I play Hard Rock (Guns N'Roses, AC/DC...) and she is great for this, especially with the JB humbucker in the brigde....ok, my marshall combo JCM 800 4010 (2204 head) is THE amp for me(talking about combos obviusly), but i love this guitar....she really rocks!

A little bit of noise sometimes with the single coils but really nothing important. I can have a great bright sound for the rhytm parts and a very good,large and warm lead sound....and i like it so much.

If you don't look at the aggressive look, you can appreciate some good blues clean tones with the single coils...pretty warm.

For now the only thing i really don't like is the jackson logo too much little for me(this is a lefty one), i really like the bigger logo on the right handed headstock.

Good action, nothing special but good.

Pickups are good too. Maybe the DK2M (which have 2 humbuckers) is better, it could be.

Floyd Rose Licensed isn't the real Floyd Rose but is pretty good.

The finishes aren't bad.

She is brand new now so i can't tell you.

I would buy she again for sure, because for 450 euro it isn't simple to find a guitar like this. I like the look, especially the headstock....I wish she had a bigger logo like the right handed models, but in the end i love this guitar.

2007 Jackson DK2M-MG in white bengal finish. Absolutely beautiful finish! 25.5" scale bolt-on neck, maple fretboard with black sharktooth inlays and black binding. Alder body. Floyd Rose licensed trem. EMG 81 in the bridge, EMG 85 in the neck. If it had an original Floyd Rose I would have given it a 10, but alas, it has a licensed so it gets a 9.

With this guitar I play tech/death metal. I couldn't imagine a better guitar, aside from it having an original Floyd. The alder and EMG's give it a bright tone with a sharp attack, but that really helps define then notes when you're playing with a lot of distortion. Sustain is excellent considering its bolt-on neck. Turn on the EMG 85 and you have a crisp clean any guitar would be jealous of. I was shocked to hear how well it played jazz and the like, but playing this guitar for jazz would look slightly silly IMO (If that's important to you).

When I ordered this guitar, It arrived in standard E, decent action, with string gauge .9's. After playing it for a half-hour or so, I decided to set it up to my personal liking. Removed the strings and put on GHS Boomers, 10-52. Tuned to drop-C, adjusted spring tension, and lowered the action. USA Soloists (or any other guitar) don't have anything on the action of this guitar, it is as good as any.

I just received this guitar, but most Jackson's are pretty road-worthy.

This is the best value guitar I've ever seen (for its style). $750 for a Japanese made Jackson that will stand up to anything on the market right now. Also, the white bengal finish with it's maple fretboard give it a totally distinct/sexy look.

My Jackson DK2 is a brand new 2007 japan made model with a finish in transparent red(looks great!) and black hardware.
This guitar is equipped with a seymour duncan "jb 4" trembucker and two sd single coils (S/S/H config)
Furthermore, it has a floyd rose style trem which works, once having been set up perfectly, very good. I know that a lot of guitarists hate the floyd rose style tremolos and i also know that they can cause a lot of trouble. It just has to be set up precicively! My guitar never gets out of tune, although i use the trem a lot and pull it really heavily.I needed a metalaxe, and the jackson dk2 offers the right features for this style of music.

I play the jackson through an engl e 645 powerball with a 4x12" celestion vintage 30 cabinet.
With this setup, i can get that metal sound i??ve always dreamed of.
The sd "jb4" trembucker is probably one of the best pickups which have ever been made! It has tons of output, a warm and clear tone, precicive highs, enough mids,it has punch and it bites! It??s not as agressive as an emg 81 (which i also play and like a lot) but it has character and sounds warmer and more brilliant.
The two single coils do a fine job too, switching them parallel offers you a great clean tone, but i never use them for solos or things like that... I??d rather have had a two humbucker jackson(with sd "sh2 jazz" pu on neck) but i??m a lefty and jackson only offers this model to minors like me...

When the guitar finally arrived, it had been set up very well.
I don??t know if it was factory setup or if this has been done at the guitar store where i bought it.
Unfortunately, i had to change the tuning, because we play on dropped c in our band. after that, as i had expected, nothing worked together anymore. i tried to fix it but i failed and gave it to a guitarbuilder but he couldn??t also do it satisfyingly.
a friend of mine who is very keen on guitars finally got it and from that point on it works almost perfect. Unlucky, the e side scratches a little bit, my friend suspects a fret or the neck not being straight.i hope we can fix that soon. Finish was good, no flaws, factory setup was good... but that f...ing scratchy e side!

Altough i own this guitar for just 9 months, i think it will last a long time. The painting is good, with tons of gloss paint, no scratches to be seen by now. Floyd rose style trem works fine,never gets out of tune. Huge strap buttons. High quality tuners.
I??ve already had a few gigs with this guitar and i would consider it as dependable...

I had to wait hardly 6 months to get this guitar because it was not available in europe so that it has had to been shipped from the u.s.
Import laws made by the eu make it sometimes difficult to get a product from oversea, so you have to wait a long time for it.
Never dealt with the company, warranty is two years, i think...

I??ve been playing for three years now and i also own an ibanez guitar with emg 81 pu.
Being a lefthanded guitar player, i dont have the possibility to choose between hundreds of axes.
The jackson dk 2 offers the features i need for my style of music (mostly death metal and trash metal but i also enjoy hard rock and classic rock): a tremolo, very good pickups, an easy to play neck and last but not least a great look in bloody transparent red with black hardware,sharktooth inlays and that unique jackson headstock.

I actually have two of this model. One 2002 Eerie Dess Swirl finish, and one 2005 in solid black.

The orginal Duncan Designed pick-ups sound quite well in my ears. Nice caracter. But they should have been punchier. When I kick in full-on distortion, they're a littel short. So I've replaced them with orginal Seymour Duncans. One of them with a Invader, and the other one with two Duncan Distortion. (Yes, I had to cut a bigger hole for the neck pick-up. Now both of them sound really good.

I think the set-up was really good. The string action was perfect for me, and the "tiliting-angle" of the bridge was right.
The feel of the whole guitar is just perfect. The balance, the feel and size of the body and neck fits me excactly the way I want a guitar to fit.
The finish was also really nice on both guitars, though I think it looks better with black hardware.

Probably the weakest about this guitar. I've expirienced the same problems on both guitars. The guitar doesn't go properly back in tune when the whammy bar is used, the finish is a bit too fragile, and the electronics, espescially the pots, doesn't excactly seem like high-end. But considering the price of the guitar, I can live with those things

As I said, the shape of the guitar is aswome, both to look at, and to have in your hands. There are some things that is not so great about it, but for this price is a lot of guitar for the money

I will defenately recomend this guitar, at least if you change the stock pick-ups

DK2 Pro in Transparent Black and Transparent Blue (see review why), Floyd Rose Licensed Trem, Seymour Pickups. Alder body, Maple neck, two single coils, 1 humbucker, 5 way selector switch, large strap hooks (they are good and work).

I choose the Jackson because of the edgy sound that I'd heard from other Jacksons/Charvels and how it sounded in the shop. It is very bright but is quite versatile, though the blues tones aren't quite as warm as I'd like them to be. Generally it sounds extremely good and holds notes extremely well with great clean sustain.

Oh here we go. OK, from the shop the guitar was solid, the neck joint extremely solid, but, on taking the guitar home I realised that there was some strange clicking sounds coming from the body of the guitar when it was handled and turned over, even more so when using the Trem. The string locks as usual were checked but this was not the problem. Also coming from the neck if you listened very careful was the sound of ripping wood grain when the tremolo was used. The seating for the string locks was also hanging over the edge by about 1-2mm which had to be corrected. As the shop couldn't fix the other problems or replace it, this was refunded. I located another DK2 in Trans Blue from another shop, this had another problem where the string locks would not lock the wound strings at all, rendering the Floyd next to useless, even after full tightening. Also once again the lock seating was hanging over the lower edge of the neck by 1-2mm. The paint work in general was pretty good on the transblack, the finish was good, the neck finish was ok to good, though there were some very slight finish problems along the top. Overall I am extremely disappointed with the build quality of both guitars I'd tried.

Considering the problems mentioned in the previous category, I would assume both guitars would have either got worse or remained faulty. I had one for around 3-4 weeks, the other used for an hour but was not purchased as it was faulty from the outset, so I cannot comment on how long it will last. I would imagine most parts would take a fair bashing.

Fender quoted the shop a 2 month wait minimum to replace the Jackson DK2. This is an unreasonable time, why aren't there enough in stock in the UK?!

I've been playing circa 15 years, I am unimpressed that one of my guitars which was a ??150 and about 12 years old is more reliable than this ??400 (??550 RRP!) guitar. Both I had were seriously flawed from the outset. I stuck with Jackson, but since the second DK2 I tried was also of poor build quality, I have lost faith in the name. Some people mention that US built Jacksons are better, but I certainly don't want to take that chance.

If it were stolen (returned and refunded in my case) would I buy another? I attempted to and got another faulty one, so my answer would be no.

I love that it's like nothing else, it's shaped well, it looks good, the transparent black one looks amazing, the blue one doesn't look quite so good, but I hate being let down by poor workmanship.

Sad that this now puts my replacement guitar buying on hold.

The Jackson DK2 Dinky is a fantastic piece of kit. The body is made of Alder and is a perfect weight. The colour of the version I have is transparent blue. It is an amazing looking guitar.
The DK2 has a 5 way selector switch, volume and tone toggles. Mine was made in Japan. There are two single STK-1 Seymour Duncan pickups and a Seymour Duncan Humbucker. The sound is immense.
The Floyd Rose floating tremelo system and locking mechanism mean that it stays in tune constantly. Fantastc.

I play metal (mostly Maiden) and this axe is easily the best metal guitar I have played. It surpasses the following (which shows you just how good it must be!!!)
Gibson SG, Les Paul, Fender Strat, Washburn X20, PRS etc.....
Of course the Washburn is a beginners guitar but the others are more expensive axes so that is a pointer ot the Dinky's pedigree.
The DK2 has a really good sound on both clean and heavy setting. I prefer a more bassy tone so feep the tone at 0 but I can imagine the crunch would be amazing if you really wanted to thrash it out!

The guitar was perfectly in tune when I received it but then I got it from a local music retailer. The locking system was already set in place. The only thing I had to do was raise the pickups a touch but then that is my own personal preference.
There wasn't a blemish on it and the surface was beautifully polished.
No problems here for me!

I don't play live (I mean I don't gig) but I would say that the Dinky DK2 is a pretty durable guitar. The floating trem doesn't affect the tuning and the strap buttons are pretty reliable. I reckon anyone could depend on this guitar.

I have years warranty on the guitar but haven't had any dealings with the company. Can't really comment on this one!

I would say that the DK2 Dinky is easily one of the best guitars that I have played. I have played high end Fender Stratocasters along with high end versions of other companies guitars but the Dinky surpasses them all. This guitar has both style and attitude! A rare combination.
If it was stolen then I would replace it....definately.

Pretty good for the price paid. For all of that plus a custom body, it only came to about 300 quid! The only annoying thing was that it came with no extras, other than the allen keys and things to tune it.

When i first read reviews on here, people said the pickups were very noisy. Well, i say this. They aren't the greatest pickups on the earth, but they still do a damn fine job when you put the right effects through it. All i use is a zoom 505 II through an AXL 25w, and it sounds killer! just like guitarists a la kerry king, scott ian etc. I would say the sound of this guitar would suit a more rock/ metal guitarist, but im certain it would be fine for other styles, even jazz. You do get a bit of noise, but not much. and hey, what are noise reduction effects for???

From the place i had got it, sppedmusic.co.uk, it was not set up very well at all. I had to increase the action as the strings were actually touching the fret board. although it was delivered all the way from wales. I had that sorted in no time, just allen key the posts until theyre the desired height. My one boggle with the guitar at first was the floyd rose. if you are wanting to get this axe, i would suggest reading in to how to tune floyd rose guitars, else u will snap 2 stings like i did! hehe. its simple really, just dont use the tuners on the neck wen the neck is locked down, use the ones at the bottom behind the tremelo. Also, i would suggest that you get it set up at a guitar store. itll cost about 50 quid but trust me, its ssooooo worth it. Now i have it set up, i dont have to worry about the technical side of it all, and my guitar is perfick!

This guitar is as solid as a rock! even with the floyd rose, this guitar would last through a gig piece of piss with out going out of tune. Speaking of that, the ONLY way this guitar will go out of tune is if u put the whammy bar all the way down, but even then its very slight. As for the hardware, ill probably change the pickups wen i have the money, but other than that, im totally happy with it. I play thrash metal, so im a very violent player, and this guitar lasts! that proof enuff for ya?

good support, crappy company. on their online operation, they dont pay for return postage if you fuck it up, and they dont order too often. i had to wait a month and a half before my axe arrived!

Ive been playin guitar for two years, and bass for 3. This guitar is MADE for rock and metal players. So if your looking for an affordable axe that kicks arse in almost every way, this is a very good investment! If this broke id get another one, opr any other jackson. They are one of the only brands to be trusted!!

Well when i first got it i felt it blew away even the MG series of the dinky in playability, maybe it was just the MG i tried wasnt up to scratch but this model felt faster and smoother, the stock pickups arent too shabby but dont go expecting a hot metal sound because you just wont get it. I changed the strings over to 10-46s and it feels much better and in the process installed a duncan distortion in the bridge which has beefed the sound up unbelievably, ive tried it through both my Randall Rh100 and my El34 100/100 hooked to a voodu valve and the guitar sounds killer. I would suggest replacing the neck pick up also as its not bad but when you have a killer pickup in the bridge and weak pickup in the neck it does spoil the feel imo. The guitar does sound very crisp and crunchy but also allows a lot of flexiblilty with regard to tone with the stock pickups installed. My only complaint is it would be nice to have another volume dial but thats pretty much just personal preference

The guitar in the shop was set up reasonably well, ive changed strings but not lowered the action any although i may well lower it off slightly but all in all the general set up was pretty sweer. certainly one of the better guitars ive played out of the box so to speak. as i said before i put a new pickup in it pretty much straight away but the routing through the body was pretty nice and wasnt incredibly tight making for an easy installation

The guitar seems like a solid guitar for the money im well impressed i have an ESP KH2 and although its not to that standard it really isnt far behind i would certainly buy one of these over the newer LTD ranges that are similarly priced as the wood is so much better annd the quality of the overall guitar is much higher.

An awesome little guitar well worth the money, can quite easily match up to guitars worth twice as much. stock pickups are a bit weak but theyre not so bad that they must be removed immediatly. over all its gotta have a 9

This is an update of the previous entry made. I recently installed a Dimarzio Super Distortion pickup in the bridge position of the guitar....wow. This pickup maximizes the resonance of the wood of the guitar and the note-worthy characteristics of the pickups lower end and mid chunck as well as higher output really make the guitar sing. Solo's on higher frets sound studio quality, i played the guitar last night through my Peavey XXX and i was astonished at the crunch and balls and clarity of the guitar. If you decide of buying this axe id strongly suggest buying this pickup for it and for middle and neck positions use the Chopper and Fast Track 1. I am fond of Dimarzio pickups for their characteristics when using a high-gain harmonically rich amplifier and supplimental cabinet. Youll have a rig of the Gods once youve done so.

Mine came from the factory with a "USED" stamp on the neck,
a small factory paint job blemish was the culpret.
Erie Dess swirl paint job is beautiful, the reason i chose it over the Ibanez 470s.

This guitar exceeds my expectations for the styles i play, mainly metal in the vein of Killswitch Engage, Pig Destroyer, Neurosis, Soilent Green, Crowbar, Isis, Lamb of God, you know..high-gain, fast chops, and low tuned destruction. I currently use this Axe with a Randall RH200G2, with a 1980's something Marshall JCM900 4-12. The stock pickups dont produce an adequate super high gain sound i know my amp can make, i use to have a Jackson KV w/ an emg-81 in it...which absolutly killed, ill replace these pickups soon with an 81-SA-SA. The stock sounds can cover anything from Dire Straights to Slayer, i can nail Lamb of God's "Black Label" with the bridge p/u and lots of gain on the amp, or switch to neck p/u and play some blues with my redneck buddies. With the right pickup combination you'd be able to hear everything this guitar brings to the table with the body wood and neck construction. I need those hotter neck pickups for bell-like swooshes and harmonic overtones for faster sweep picking, as well as the bridge pickup replaces for high gain clarity and maximum pinch harmonic ability. if it werent for the pickups this guitar would rival anything this side of a $1500 Jackson soloist.

Right off the bat i threw off those whimpy 10-46's and right now im using GHS 11-50 gauge strings(3 nickle wound the other plain steel)Tuned in D, and occasially ill throw off the top lock and bring it down to drop C. The Factory setup thought was perfect, effortless sweeping and endless arrays of chords and key transitions are effortless, the compound radius fretboard and scalloped neck joint makes climbing up for The Scorpions- "Rock you like a hurricane" solo as easy as tuning it (note if you are experienced with floyd rose designs you can do this easily, just as if you can solo good enough you can pull off that solo). My axe's paint was a custom shop erie dess swirl, that came flawed , only a small 1cm blemish on the back of the guitar, like i give a rats ass, still looks good on the front and it doesnt hurt how well it plays!!!

I play my axe everyday, its the only one i own b/c i dont buy guitars for the hell of it, everyday its ready to play, its durable and well built and thats why i dont need another guitar,i gig often with it, and dont need anything for its well being except for a dry cloth to keep off dust and moisture and a fresh pack of strings incase one breaks.

Ive been playing around 12 yrs, its been the 2nd gutiar ive owned the first being a strat. Its perfect for my needs and playing style and gives me the freedom to continue to grow musically due to its design. I'd never lose this guitar, but if it were stolen and i knew who did it, their kneecaps would spend a few minutes with my baseball bat( and its a wooden one too!) The guitar is great for metal/shredders... and can hold its own in any musical genre, Im sold on jackson guitars, and will always be. Just remember to throw in some descent pickups if you get it. Buy it.
