Solid strat style body, string-throug config, tuneomatic bridge, sealed tuners, maple neck w/rosewood fretboard, jumbo frets.
Standard stuff really.
I was considering a string-thru schecter C1, but saw this thing and snagged it for half the price.

This guitar does just about any style well. I play mostly blues, rock, heavy metal....and it delivers every time.
The "duncan designed" pickups haven't been a problem at all. I'm a pickup whore, changed more pickups than my underwear, but surprisingly these "designed" pickups don't cause any noise problems and are very full sounding for factory pickups. Maybe I got a gem set or something. At some point I'll prob change them out just to do it, and maybe install a pull pot for coil splitting.

Not a flaw on this guitar. I bought it new, with the hardshell case. I had a luthier friend of mine intonate it, but he said the factory intonation was almost dead on, not even worth doing really. The neck joint is nice & tight. No buzzy uneven frets.
My only beef with this guitar is the cheap plastic nut, the low strings like to bind on them even with lube. It'll soon be replaced with a hand crafted bone nut by my luthier friend, a $25 fix.

As reliable as can be expected. I'm sure a few drops will ding/crack it, just like any guitar. The neck is slim, but it really stays in tune even with heavy blues bending going on.

2 year warranty. I haven't had any reason to call Jackson for anything yet.

I've been playing 17 years, been in several bands. I play tube amps and have a home studio setup. I've never owned a pointy guitar, but after buying this on a whim I'm very glad I did. In fact, I plan on buying an extra some day, the tobacco sunburst looks really sweet(i have the butterscotch sunburst).
The factory sunburst finish looks really nice, no real need for a figured top anyway, not at this price level.
If you find one of these and I don't buy it, I urge you to get one for yourself. Then drop it off a bridge as soon as possible so the collector value on mine goes up...lol.

Great sound. The pickups suck big time. I'm putting some EMG's in soon. It's a really bassy sounding guitar. For the money it sounds great. The only down side is the pickups.

It was set up great. I lowered the action a bit, becuase of personal preference. I got the dark metallic blue, it's great, in low light it looks black, but it the like it shimmers.

Awesome, has failed me yet. Stays in tune. Built great. The pots get scratchy too often though after cleaning them.

Made in Japan. Ash body. 2 Duncan Designed humbuckers. 3 way toggle. One volume. One tone. Rosewood fingerboard with trademark Jackson sharkfin inlays. String through body. 22 fret bolt on rock maple neck.

I play in a cover band - mostly rock, hard rock, alternative, some dance stuff, and this guitar suits my style nicely. The stock pickups are great. It's funny to hear some people knock the Duncan Designed pickups, but the specs on these pickups are over 95% the identical to the USA made Seymour Duncan pickups. There is nothing about the sound of this guitar that I don't like.

Excellent action, fit, and finish. I especially like the "satin" chrome hardware. Straight out of the box it needed nothing. Remember, this ain't no Korean piece of...
Don't mean to knock the Korean guitars, as I've had a few nice ones, but 9 out of 10 times I've found a noticable difference in the USA made and Japanese made guitars.

No idea on this guitar, but I will say this about Jackson... Awhile back I bought one of Jackson's DX guitars (made in India - YIKES), and straight out of the box the neck pickup didn't work, so I logged onto the Jackson web site (www.jacksonguitars.com) and got a phone number and called their National repair center in Ft. Worth, TX. Anyway, the guy I talked to was polite and more than helpful. He told me to send it to them and they would repair it and send it back at no cost to me. Well, I declined and sent the guitar back to musiciansfriend. So, I would think you can probably expect good things from them.

made in 2000, in Japan. It had 22 frets. I swapped out the stock ones right away, in favor of EMG's, and 81 in the bridge and an 89 in the neck. The neck was thin (maybe too thin, seeing as how unstable it was.) Volume control, as on all Jackson's is too damn close to pickups. Fixed through body bridge. Everything here is in past tense, because I luckily sold the guitar.

With the EMG's, the guitar sounded great. The stock ones sucked in this guitar. Very versatile, but it better be after $160 worth of p/u's.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The action sucked. Buzz at the nut, buzz at the 1st fret, no matter how I had it set up. Action too high at the 12th. I think I had a lemon neck on this one. Tuners didn't seem all that stable, but I was going to replace those with Sperzels anyway. But I got too sick of this thing before that happened.

Couldn't play without a backup. the thing went outta tune way too easily, especially with a fixed bridge.

Well, Jackson was so damn slow to deliver the guitar in the first place, that I didn't even bother with trying their customer service.

I've been playing for 11 years, and I've owned 8 different guitars. I've never been so frustrated with a guitar, and I've never been so happy to box it up and send it far far away. This coming from a guy thats owned 3 Floyd equipped guitars, all of them being more stable than this junk. What do I love about it? The EMG's, which I kept. What do I hate about it? Everything but the EMG's. My favorite feature was how much nicer it looked in a big box with a UPS label on it. Compared to my Ibanez SC420, it is the biggest let down ever. I should have just bought another Ibanez SC. Anything I wish it had? A new home, which it does.

This Guitar plays like a charm, I play mostly Metal, Rock, and Blues and it plays all 3 just Great!. I am using a Marshall VS265R Stereo Chorus Amp ( Valvestate ) 130 Watts, I also use a Digitech RP-100 for some effects. The action is awesome on this Guitar, simple to use just a pickup switch and Volume and Tone Knobs. Very Full sound especially for Metal!! I like everthing !

2000, Japanese made, 22 fret, Amber Sunburst, twin humbucker, rose wood, etc etc etc.
AS for features this guitar has exactly what I wanted, minus EMG pickups. I am NOT! a fan of tremelos and have been searching for a non-trem modern guitar.
Sound

I play everything and demand versatility from an ax and I am very happy with this one. The neck is wide, rather flat and plays very smoothly. Not having a trem adds to the tone and sustain. The one thing that impressed me the most was the way the guitar carries its natural sound to the amp, even with the so-so picksups.

The guitar was purchased from Guitar Center, so I obviously needed to be setup correctly(they are terrible at guitar maintenance and setup). After a new set of strings and a minor adjustment to the Tuno-o-matic the action was low, and the pickups set to my liking. The amber sunburst is beautiful. Looks really nice.

I have been playing 18 years. This guitar is played through a Crate G40c. if it was lost I would replace it immediately! There are not too many non trem guitars out there that don't cost over $2K.

Made in Japan, propably in 1999 (or 2000). Ash body, maple bolt-on neck, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets / 25.5" scale / 1 11/16" nut. 2 Duncan Design humbuckers. String thru body tune-o-matic bridge. Strat-style body, black. 2-way pickup selector. Master volume and tone. Non-locking tuners. No case or even a gig bag.

I play metal and hard rock, occasinally some blues and rock. This guitar suits my style pretty well. Stock pickups sound pretty okay, considering the price. Neck pickup is a bit too dark for me. Acoustically sounds quite rich so better pickups can make this guitar sing. I will be changing the pickups in the near future. Surprisingly quiet, practically no noise at all.
I use Marshall JCM800 halfstack and this just sound awesome through it.

This one was set up really well. Action, pickups, intonation, etc. Fabulous. I took it home and just started playing, I didn't have to take out my toolkit. Only little flaw is that the 'A' string doesn't sit in the saddle as well as the other strings, but this is barely noticable.

I haven't played this one live yet, but I think this will be very suitable for playing live. My main guitar is Jackson Kelly XLR and I have played it live on a several occasions, so why would this one be nay different? Jacksons are built to last. I have replaced the strap buttons with DiMarzio Clip-locks, though. I would use this without a backup, but I actually bought this guitar as a backup. :-)

I think the warranty was 3 years, but can't remember for sure. I never dealt with Jackson so I can't say anything about their customer support.
The retailer I bought this one from was quite irritating however. The salesguy seemed to think that he is the greatest gift to all mankind, but it's not really Jacksons fault, is it?

I've played for 8 years. I think this is the second best guitar there is. The best guitar I know is my Jackon Kelly XLR. I bought this one as a backup for the Kelly, but it's much more. I wanted a guitar with fixed bridge and that great Jackson neck and that's just what I got. Great versatile guitar. The pickups are pretty good, but they could be better.

Ok, this is a great guitar, but comes with one fatal weakness : The pickups. Get some decent sounding pickups and youll have great looking, great playing guitar that suits a variety of situations. YOu could play a whole bunch of style with this. Also plays very nicely, I can shred or play legato licks quite nicely.

This guitar has been thorugh a few live playings, and has held up nicely. Its durable, doesn't damage easily, and stays in tune well. Also, intonation seems good at lower tunings. I have 2 guitars, this one and an Ibanez, and If I could take one to a gig, it would be this one. (The locking trem on the other is a pain in the ass.) Only one problem so far, the input jack has been a little unstable, I have to tighten it every once and a while, and the plug often seems loose. I simply bent it inwards slighty to correct the looseness.
