So, i recently traded my mim tele for a jackson dx10d, i cant say i am fully satisfied. The body is Alder with Flame Maple Veneer. The neck is Bolt-On Rock Maple with Scarf Joint Head Stock. 24 Jumbo Frets on a Rosewood fretboard floyd rose bridge with Duncan designed HB-103B bridge and HB-103N neck pickup. 1 tone and 1 volume. The volume pot knob is far to close to the bridge pick up if you ask me, and this is my biggest concern, it gets in the way of my hand and is a very big inconvenience. its really hard to for my big hands to play in such a tight area.

Sound : 6
Though it is nice to see a lower/mid level with duncan designed, these korean pickups are nothing to there american counterparts. they sound alright and they are a tad better than the jackson stock pickups on the lower end models. but they are to crunchy for my liking, although that might have to do with the alder body. i will be replacing the pickups with emg 81/85s. the pots on my particular guitar need to be switched out the volume cuts in and out when the guitar is turned up but the guitar was made in 99 so it should be cut some slack. this guitar is made for rock and metal. not very diverse but thats what i got it for .

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
im not a big fan of the floyd rose bridge but it beats the hell out of the bridge on my telecaster. i couldnt even palm mute on the tele bridge. floyd roses cannot be set up for d and c with out changing everything on it and it sucks but hey. people seem to like them.

Reliability/Durability : 8
this guitar has been beat, and its still standing i would never gig without a back up. but it will probabally be a while before i would need the backup. assuming i change the pots before i play a show with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 6
im going to give this guitar a 6 because the flame top is a nice feature for the proce, the duncan designed pickups are not as bad as the stock pickups but the volume knob knocks off alot of points and im not a fan of the rose but that is personal preference, if you find one for a good price id get it. but i dont think its worth the price people are asked to pay new. you would be better off with a prs soapbar 2 se.

Trans Blue, Flamed maple top on Alder body. Licensed FR - chrome hardware... It all works flawlessly. You know the rest by now. Slightly above average features for a lower/mid range guitar. The flame top is a great looker, many will like the reverse headstock and revers sharky inlays. However, that feature is why I initially hesitated to purchase. I'm just not a reverse headstock kinda guy. But I LOVE reverse sharkies. Better pickups (they are slightly above average) and a 5 way switch - maybe a coil tap would ahve upped the rating from a 6 to an 8 or 9. But all of that is curable. _above average features for the price_ The finish on the top is gorgeous. Rest of body also looks high end.

Sound : 8
Sound is also slightly above average. A bit bright for my taste. But that's to be expected with an alder body w/maple top. I did the pickup shuffle w/this guitar - trying a lot of combos. There's a few great choices, conventional and otherwise, that work well w/this guitar. The choice depends on your style. 1)Unconventional but it works well for me... SD JB Trembucker in the bridge and a bridge (yes a bridge) full shred in the neck. 5 way switch. Very versatile and has just enough bite. 2) Breeds all the way. Also very versatile and just a tad darker tone. This is a sure fire satisfier. 3) SD or Dimarz Distortions. Take your pick of hype preference. They both work out great. I suggest SD's UNLESS you can find an old Dimarzio super distortion. The new ones just don't compare. With the right pickups the sound is a solid 8.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This is a strong point. I can slap whatever gauge strings on this thing (08 to 11), set it up and tune, doesn't matter. Super low action every time. No dead frets. Neck is so friggin sweet. It plays like a 1,200 guitar. Every one who has ever picked this thing up comments on how easy it plays and stays in tune. A good part of that is knowing how to do proper setups. And you can't have faulty parts. Maybe I was lucky. Dunno. The only flaw I could find was the outsides of most frets were just a tad sharp/exposed. I remedied that quickly. If not for the frets I would give a 9 (10's are for perfection and nothing is perfect). So a solid 8.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Had this for a couple of years plus now. No issues. It's been handles, babied, abused, slobbered on (dogs), sneezed on (cats), no issues. cleans up like a champ and performs like a far more expensive instrument. However, if you don't gig w/backup(s) you either can't afford it or you're not very bright. Not being able to afford backup is fine and no shame. Choosing not to use backup is just dumb. Things happen. Parts will eventually fail, if not sooner. so far, this guitar has never failed me. Never even went out of tune beyond a slight turn of the fine tuner after ridiculous wammy use. A solid 9

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt w/them and don't plan on it.

Overall Rating : 8
Overall I have to give this thing an 8. It may be a 7 out of the box for some. But I knew what I was going to do after I bought it (pickups, 5 way switch, pot swap, orange drop, etc). It has delivered more than what I expected. I don't consider stock pickups and factory setups a detriment for rating purposes on lower end guitars. You can't run a race well on stock tires or a stock setup. Know what you want/need and what you plan on doing w/it before you drop your wad. There's not much to complain about for a $400 guitar. It plays fantastic and looks great. The rest is up to ownership to tweak for their own wants/needs.

DX10D Transparent Blue, 24 jumbo frets, duncan designed humbucker pickups, 3-way selector, volume and tone controls, nice reverse headstock, sharkfin inlays, mable neck and alder body

Sound : 1
I was very, very, very disappointed with this guitar, the pickups sounded very muddy, and produced a warbling sound, the selector switch didn't have any effect on the output sound, only the tone control adjusted the sound (as it should), The volume control (which is very poorly located so as to really get in the way of the picking hand)cut out completely at full volume, the thing just cut out completely! The sound returned when the vol was turned back to 3/4. I have a 80's Kramer Baretta with one Humbucker that totally blows this thing away in terms of overall sound, and power! (Hint, remove the useless capacitor from the volume pot, for real punch if you have a guitar with vol only! Tone controls are for the amp, and are a mere nuisance on the body of any guitar!)This Jackson played horribly every string on every fret buzzed excessively...even the high e! I returned it more than once within the first few weeks of ownership to the store, they tried unsuccessfully to rectify it with the obligatory truss rod adjustments, action/intonation tweaking etc... In the end I just gave up! I got sick and tired of returning the gat to the store time after time, I just wanted to play the thing! Now 18 months later the store's awesome manager has contacted me to say he will take it back, and let me choose something else to the value! I let the time lapse initially and just let the guitar sit there believing I was just stuck with a lemon. The guitar is GONE! and I will be looking at a new amp instead...'cos nothing compares to an 80's Kramer eh EVH?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
This guitar was set-up horribly from the get-go, the fret buzz in every position, the poor intonation...this thing had a visible bow in the neck! no ruler needed to measure the relief..I needed relief when I realised how many problems this thing had. The vol control cutting out was the icing on the cake so to speak, and I just refused to play it. It did make an interesting ornament in my room on the stand for 18 months though! I hated the placement on the volume knob! What's up with that? does any-one else find that it's right where you don't want it to be when sweep picking/strumming? I notice most if not all of the Jackson guitars have it in the same place...needless to say I will not be buying a post Fender Jackson guitar again EVER. I always wanted one since the 80's, with greats like Randy Rhoads, Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman etc endorsing/using them...but oh how times have changed...now they are not U.S. made anymore! But then is anything these day's? Nice to have my lifelong dream shattered in such a drawn out way! Thanks Fender, for ruining a great legacy! I never liked fender guitars for various reasons, and now legitimately I also dont like Jackson.

Reliability/Durability : 3
Parts wise this guitar had all the mod-cons, maybe that's what it's detined for...spare parts for a better built one that inevitably will eventually need them.

I could depend on this guitar as eye-candy when I awoke every morning, but in terms of playing it.....How? it was unplayable, and in that sense....unenjoyable.

Customer Support : 9
The store have always tried to help and have been excellent, it's my fault it took 18 months to get anything done about it, because I got sick of it and kind of forgot about the whole deal...it just made me appreciate what I had more....My killer Kramer Baretta!!
I e-mailed Jackson, who just advised me to get it back to the store for "fixing" by that time I was fed up with several "fixing" trips to the store previously, so the sands of time just kept on pouring...until now. The store manager had been thinking of my plight the whole time, but was unable to contact me as I had moved..it was through a friend who knows me and knows him that I found out he was happy to let me choose something else. The store I brought it from were a+++ in all respects, and are a credit to their profession. Jackson couldn't do much themselves as we are continents apart!

Overall Rating : 2
I been playing for 15 odd years on and off, so I do know a thing or two about guitars, having modified/improved some over the years as well as playing anything that sounds good. If the guitar was stolen I would replace it with something else, but fortunately that will never be the case! I chose this guitar for it's ultra sexy looks above all else, I just put too much trust in a name that has been degraded by fender.

I hated the guitar, I hated playing it (all of about 30 mins over 18 months), and now it is just time to move on with my true love Kramer! I will never consider buying a guitar again while I have my Kramer...The whole experience definately proved to me..."they don't make 'em like the used to!"

Features : 9
- Transparent blue finish (maple veneer top), 2006 model. Looks killer!
- Soloist-style, slimmed down strat body. The body wood remains a bit of mystery as the Jackson website has some ambiguous info whether it's alder (I think that's what it is) or basswood.
- Jackson licenced Floyd Rose (double-locking) bridge.
- 25,5" scale, bolt-on maple neck w/ rosewood fretboard. Very slim and fast - great satin finish! 24 Jumbo frets. The headstock is reversed (and I love it!)
- Volume & tone controls, 3-way pickup selector switch.
- Two Duncan Designed passive HB-103 humbuckers (which weren't in the guitar for long!)

Pretty much the only thing that was missing was some kind of a coil-split possibility. But hey, that's something that a little of tinkering & soldering can easily fix! :-)

Sound : 9
The original Duncan Designed pickups were modeled after Duncan Distortions, and they weren't bad in their own right. However, I already had DiMarzio Breeds in mind when purchasing the guitar, so that's what put in pretty quickly.

The Breeds are great - they turned the guitar into a clear sounding Les Paul with Floyd Rose and 24 frets! Both the neck and the bridge pickups are quite warm sounding and, coupled with alder/map top combination, provide a good punch with clarity. And they are very versatile, too.

I play pretty much everything from metal to jazz and everything in between, and the guitar has not failed me once. One additional mod that I did includes wiring the pickups in parallel when in the middle position of the 3-way switch. It brightens up the sound (yet lowers the volume, too) and makes the guitar sound, as if it had two P-90's on instead of two full-size humbuckers. Anyone who has ever listened to Leslie West in his Mountain days knows why that sound is so great - super clear with emphasis on higher mids. Cuts nicely through the mix but is no way shrill.

I play the guitar through Dunlop Original Cry-Baby wah-wha and a number of Ibanez pedals (Tube Screamer, Chorus/Flanger, Tremolo, Delay) to a Mesa/Boogie F-30 head and Mesa Thiele design 1*12" cabinet. As said, you can get pretty much all the possible (classic) sounds in the world with the DX-10D and the amp setup.

There is one serious flaw in the guitar itself. The high G note (either on top E string 3rd fret or on B string 8th fret)is completely dead, i.e there is no sustain whatsoever. The sound dies in a second or so. Maybe this is due to the construction and/or gluing of the body or neck woods but it's little bit irritating. It can be improved with accurate parametric EQ'ing (12 db to the high G!) to some extent, though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was okay after the purchase but I had to adjust the neck relief, as I got the guitar in the UK but hauled with me to Finland. For folks out there who don't know the climatic details, let me put it this way: UK is super-humid and Finland is super-dry.

I like my strings to be fairly heavy (.011's-0.52's)so the action has to be a bit higher than when using lighter strings. So after a bit of adjustment, it's great. There is nice tension in the strings, they don't feel loose at all. You see, I'm one of those guitarists who would like to tune up (e.g. to F or F sharp) instead of tuning down (to E flat or to D etc.), so the feel is actually great.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've had for 9 months or so, and the guitar seems to be built to last. The only problem that I've had was to do with the locking screws in the nut. They weren't made of proper metal alloy and gave in when I was tightening the srews for 10th time or so. Well, I threw them away and got new ones!

I've used the guitar on number of gigs and I've have had no problems whatsoever. After all the modifications, the thing is a real war horse.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The locking screws were probably under warranty but since a got new ones for free, why bother?

All in all, I have a feeling that Jackson customer support could be better but this is speculation as I have had no need to contact those guys. The guys at Rhodes Music were really helpful in the time of the purchase, though

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 24 years now, and I have owned a number of all sorts of guitar. The current number of guitars is 13 but hopefully I can reduce that by two or three...

So I own two Fender Strats, two Gibson LP's (one of them double cutaway) and two Jackson RR's just to name the main ones. The DX10D is a nice crossover or blend of all of the above: basically a Strat body, LP sound and a Jackson neck.

My advice to all people considering to buy the guitar is this: check that the sustain is there for all frets and switch the pickups. The original pickups are not bad, maybe a bit one dimensional, maybe.

I would buy it again, if stolen/lost. The thing I find liking the most is the reverse headstock - it simply looks super cool! I wish Jackson would have it as option to all of their Pro and USA models.

Features : 8
- Transparent Red Finish
- Alder solid Body Soloist-like, Maple top
- Indian Rosewood table
- Licensed Floyd Rose Bridge (stable)
- Jackson locking tuners
- Thin Maple Neck
- USA made (Indian woods) 1998.
- 24 jumbo frets
- 3-way switch (coil tap in middle position)
- Duncan Designed PUs H-H

Best features/price in middle range guitars. Very good woods and stable hardware.

Sound : 10
- My music style is very versatile right now, but back then when I bought it I was playing as a soloist hard rock, heavy metal and progressive metal. I bought it in order to have a "back-up" for my RG2750.
- I'm not a big fan of little boxes (only wah, chorus and maybe a DS-1), so I'd say that it was mostly used trough my Carvin MTS412 Combo.
- Zero noise. Even when I made the huge mistake of installing an Evolution set in her (sucked!), it still remain silent. The Duncan Designed are truly good PUs, I'd say that they're better than many DiMarzios.
- Sound With Duncans Dsgn: vintage "Les Paul"-like sounding but with Floyd! :O
- Sound With Evos: giant bees attack in the ear! (inmediatly removed)
- When I later changed my music style into a more versatile sounding, this guitar was with me all the way, up to the date. The RG2750 was left back and sold, because she was made just for Heavy style. Very, very versatile. Don't be fooled with the common say "Jackson is for METAL". Negative. In my new project we are playing songs that goes from heavy to jazz-rock, even tango in some passages and the DX10 (obviously modified in some ways, mostly switching and hardware) gigs with me everytime.
- I love this guitar. I don't really like de Jackson Floyd Rose, but it's stable, I think it's a matter of trust.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
- String action: very good. Some buzz starting at 16th fret in the 4, 5 and 6th strings. I think it's not possible to get the string action that I need in this guitar (very close to the neck: 1.3 mm).
- Zero flaws from factory. Perfectly fretted neck, glowing hardware until today, nice red finish easy to clean...

Reliability/Durability : 10
- I think an elephant could fall over my little DX10 and she will recover.
- The Floyd Rose had a rough battle back in my heavy days. It's still working fine.
- The red finish still intact.
- It's my second axe, I'm now using a custom-made guitar (Ricardo Miranda Luthier).
- Strap buttons replaced by DiMarzio Strap.
- I can depend on it, in fact I did it several times.
- I had used it without backup on two gigs. No problem.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had a problem. I have a Guitar Tech.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar since 8. I'm 21 now and this is one of the guitars I'd definetly buy if were stolen. I'm not sure if it's the guitar or the love I have for her, but this Jackson is pure gold.

I had the chance to compare the RG2750 with this guitar. She is way better and cheaper. Don't hesitate. Ibanez is not that good and not even close to be so much versatile.

I'm not sure what year it was made, but it was made in Japan.
It has 24 Jumbo frets with reverse headstock and reverse MOTO sharkfin position inlays. It has master volume and master tone with a 3-way pickup selector. It has a Duncan Designed HB103B pickup in the bridge and a HB103N in the neck, both are passive. It is an alder body with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. It has a beautiful transparent emerald green finish on a strat style body. It has a licensed Floyd Rose JT580LP double-locking tremolo, and die-cast tuners.

Sound : 8
I play a lot of different styles including 70's and 80's classic rock and southern rock, but mostly metal. I use a Peavey Studio Chorus 210 amp through a Boss multiple digital effects pedal. It has very little buzz, although I am thinking of installing EMG-81 pickups because I like the warm sound active pickups deliver.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It's factory setup is almost perfect although I think the trussrod could stand a little adjustment to make the strings a little closer to the neck without buzzing.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have never played this guitar live as I have only had it a couple of months, although I would not be afraid to. It stays in tune better than my Fender Strat or my Fender HMT.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with the company. It has no warranty because I bought it used, although I believe it was played very little because it looks brand new. It has no wear marks and when I bought it, it didn't have the slightest scratch anywhere. It has 2 small scratches on it now where I have bumped it.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing approximately 17 years. I have a Fender Fat Strat and a Fender HMT (which I believe stands for Heavy Metal Telecaster, because it looks like a semi-hollow body Tele, and it has a Kahler double-locking tremolo and 24 Jumbo frets, but the headstock is radically different than that of a Tele) and a Kramer Flying V, and I still have the first and second guitars I ever owned (a Kay that looks like a Gibson SG which was given to me by my mother when I was 9 years old, and a Dixon SE series bought for me when I was 12), both cheap guitars but hold a lot of sentimental value for me and neither of which I play anymore. I had never owned a Jackson, but my cousin had a Charvette by Charvel which is made by Jackson when we were in high school, and I loved its playability and speed, so when I spotted the Dinky hanging on the wall while I was shopping for strings and accessories, I decided to get it down and try it out. I instantly fell in love with it, so I took it home. Now I have become a Jackson fan and plan to buy a new Jackson DKMG Dinky in the very near future.

I've played one gig with this devil now. Great.
I'm a psycho on the stage, so even the EXTREMELY SAFE strap buttons gave up. There goes our cover version of 3 doors down's "cryptonite"- i never liked the song too much, anyway... altough i played 3 heavy metal yngwie-blackmore-satriani-anything inspired solos... well, the strap buttons were no problem, i played the guitar on my leg, altough i lost some style there.

You can definitely depend on this guitar.
Backup? yeah. or just change the strings a couple days before the gig. if that's possible.

It suits my sound PERFECTLY. My style is streamlined thrash, so, having simple controls and powerful but tasteful (bit o' blues to death metal) pickups. The neck is pretty fast but slight girth.

I'm using the guitar with a Morley wah and the only distracting sound is from the bridge cavity- it clanks.

It's definitely rich 'cause it's tonewoods are Alder body (sweet top end) and a mellow fingerboard.

I love this guitar 'cause it was built for me - I SHOULD KNOW AFTER 10 YEARS OF SEARCHING ! I only dislike the clanking which I can fill in.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I set the action to my tastes so I could cop good slide. The pickup height is cool I keep it the same as the factory standards. The funny thing about inexpensive guitars these days is that they have flaws but, they're pretty well off. I had this guitar for more than a year and I think I haven't found much problems.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar is so live that I recently purchased a backup of the same model. The hardware will last if good care is made. The strap buttons are solid and I put my life in this axes hands.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I forget the warranty ,but, I treat my 'friends' with care.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for going on 11 years and played through Crate solidstate amps mostly. A Morley wah and heavy glass slide cap my euipment off besides a Jackson Warrior.

I this axe was stolen I'd only replace it with the same model because I rely on it implicitly (please break out the dictionary for me). I love every detail and dislike the bridge clanking ambience wwhich can be muted. I bought my first one for is it's tobacco sunburst finish and more importantly it's manufacturer.

Buy one if you'd like a superstrat with attitude but, feels very 'at home' with you.

It has everything you need. 24 frets, a flyod rose whammy bar. This thing is perfect for anyone (like me) who has played for around 1.5 to 3 years of guitar and likes Metal.

Sound : 9
I sort of for get because I replaced the stock pickups with the DiMazaro Humbuckers From Hell because I wanted to try them and they were MUCH better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Everything was perfectly set up, but when replacing the pickups I found out that the wiring was done half assedly so it could have fallen apart if I didn't fix it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I drop it all the time and nothing happens. I would bring a backup up to a gig just because if I didn't the thing would fuck up on me because I have no luck.

Everyone bashes Customer Support so I will give it a 10 so the overall rating is better.

Get this guitar and replace the pickups and you will not need to buy a new guitar until you simply get bord of this one. If it was lost I would hunt the SOB done and beat him with this axe and then re-tune it and it wold be all good again.

This is like everyone else said, a Japanese made Jackson, but I have to agree in stating that the quality is just as good as guitars twcie its price. Not to many features here other than the Floyd-licensed tremolo, but as a guy who likes simple things, I appreciate this. I shouldn't have to play a guitar as complicated as an Indy race car. One thing I will say, this guitar is made for metal and rock. Don't expect to get great Led Zeppelin or SRV tones out of it.

Sound : 8
I play mostly progressive metal (Dream Theater type stuff), metal, and hard rock, with a mix of blues and a little jazz in their too. I play mostly through a Yamaha DG Stomp into headphones, as I am a college student in a dorm.

The stock pickups struck me as decent but quite week. They wouldv'e been fine for most people, especially inexperienced players and non gear aficonados. I replaced them with genuine Seymour Duncans, an Alnico II Pro in the neck and a JB in the bridge. After the pickup change, this thing was awesome. I can't get a bad sound out of it even with a solid-state amp.
Pre-pickup change I give the guitar a 7. Afterward I give it a 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Coming home from the store, where I got this guitar used, I was impressed enough with the guitar to buy it on a whim purchase, but after taking it home started noticing a few defects. The finish is near perfect, and like other people said, I couldn't tell if it was veneered or not. The electronics were well designed and easy to work. My only complaint was the poor setup at the shop.
Also the 19th fret suffered from being too high. After arduosly performing a DIY fret crowning, the guitar improved drastically. I couldn't believe how much it made a difference. It made me fall in love with the thing.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have taken this guitar around to a lot of places, and found it to hold up just fine. My only complaint is a couple cracks in the nitro-celluose finish that occured from me being careless. But I believe any guitar would suffer from what happened to it, so no complaints here.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I've been playing 2 years, and have owned this guitar for about 8 months. When I first had it I wasn't too impressed after a week of playing. I wasn't dissappointed either however. After I put in about 200 dollars for a pickup swap and a fret crowning, I have no complaints. I recommend everyone do these two things, and they will have a guitar that sounds and plays as well as something that should cost twice as much.

made i Japan( guess so...),burnt cherry sunburst,1 volume,1 tone,2 duncan designed humbuckers.Liceensed Floyd Rose(Hmmm...),double locking sistem,24 freets, sharkfin inlays,no f...in' accessories included. If there was an original floyd and some Evolution on it I would give a 10.Beautiful finish.

Sound : 9
I enjoy playing Vai-Van Halen stuff mainly.Pickups sounds great for the price, but there's room for more..Superbe clean sound, lot of guts in the distorted mode. You can put out a large variety of sounds, but, like Ian Cyrka once said, don't try to get a Les Paul sound out of a strat...
Some extra sustain over the upper freets ,that's what i would like.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Needed only few adjustments on the bridge and truss .Action is just a little high for what I've expected;put it lower and it buzzes around the 22-23th freet on the E string.Sometimes,a part of the Floyd resonates when I strum the lower strings, what can it be?
That's the dark side.Despite those i still give a 9.With some Di Martio Evo & Original Floyd it would be like till death do us parts...

-For the price I think this guitars sound with the duncan design (korean made) pickups are great. No complaints!

-Excellent set up, I have had no problems what so ever
-Pickups are adjusted fine for me!
-I have a slight ringing noise on my 4th string when strung open, but it is hardly noticeable played umplugged and absolutely not noticeable plugged in!

I guess it will withstand live playing, but I would be careful of the headstock hitting something or catching someone in the eye or something, man is that thing pointy!!!!

Strat shape body with a gorgeous dark puple finish. 24 frets reverse headstock. 2 humbuckers with JT-580 bridge. Chrome hardware, 1 volume knob 1 tone knob, and a Fender-style 3-way switch. Nothing too fancy, but gets the job done!

Sound : 10
Yet another great sounding/playing affordble guitar! I have nearly as much fun playing it unplugged as I do when its plugged in. Nah, keep it plugged in....... Of course, I installed my ever-faithful ass-kicking EMG-81 pickups in it! Without them, this category would be about a 7.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Pretty good when I got it, but naturally a tiny bit of tweaking to get it to my action preference. Finish is awesome, the previous owner(s) took very well care of it, as there are no nicks or scratches, etc. My other 3 Jacksons I tune standard E, standard Eb, standard B. I run this one in a drop-D tuning for REAL metal stuff, like Anthrax, Celtic Frost, Sepultura, "The Thing that Should Not Be" by Metallica. (Rant Alert....) Not for the wannabe metal nowadays like System of a Turd, Staind Shorts, Disturded, Limp Bisquick, and all the rest of them fucking nu-metal poser bandwagon idiots who think they know how to play a guitar. Play a fucking lead already....Oh you just don't want to? Or CAN'T?!! Thats what I thought. Go get more piercings, that'll make you a guitar hero......Better yet, think of the money you can save by buying strings in packs of 2 instead of 6. Bah..

Reliability/Durability : 9
Everything is solid, fits well, and I'm sure I could depend on this just as much as my other Jacksons.

Playing since 1986. I might emphasize that I play REAL metal. Hell, I even play some SRV style music on it, just for giggles. 'Nuff said. I shouldn't have to worry about a nu-metal player(?) stealing it, because the whole thing plays and sounds good, not just the bottom 2 strings.

I gave a review on this guitar a year ago and have to add to my original review.
Really it's got everything a metal guitar needs.
I really want to re-comment on the action, fit, finish and Customer support.

Sound : 8
First I play anything ( even one chord craprap ) and everything. Currently I use three different amps with this guitar. A Laney Pro tube 50 head, a Pro tube 30 and a Linebacker 100R head, all through and Jackson 4X12 cab or a Carvin 2X12. Live I use the Linbacker and a GNX1 just because it's so easy to switch around from sound to sound. My WAY prefered set up is the Pro tube 50 with a RV3 and a old tube screamer that is set for a clean boost. The overall sound quality is ok but not great. It is a little thin sounding but drives heavy songs pretty good despite the thinness. I boost my bass presence a little to help it along it's way.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
First understand that I bought this guitar as a blem online. It was a scratch and dent special ( there is a finger mark in the paint job ). The action was set up at factory specs 1.5mm at the 12th, but the guitar buzzed out at 2nd fret. No problem. It usually takes a day or two of monkeying around to get a guitar set up right with the truss setting in and the other things I usually do like blocking the trem so it is only a lowering device and you can mess around with alternative tunings without re-tuning every string. I quick look at the neck showed a bad bend at the second fret, right where the glue joint is on the neck. I should have returned the guitar right there. But I have never not been able to adjust a guitars action. Never. Honestly I have set up a lot of guitars for myself and tons for others so I guess I was a little to cocky about the whole matter. After owning this guitar for well over a year the only reasonable fix was this really strange fret job and lots of shims under the nut. The smart ass, Anonymous 08/04/02,( playing for a whole 5 years? I bet you really know your stuff! ) needs to understand that when you buy a guitar online you can't really check it out before you buy. You do have 45 days to return it but I didn't know the real deal for about 8 months. My problem is I trusted a online/catalog when you are told you are buying a cosmetic blem you expect it to only be cosmetic, well here is where it gets worse.
The neck has a stamp after the 24th fret that says "2". Originally I didn't know what that meant. A lot number? A reverse headstock? It can't mean it's a second quality neck? Could it? Well after a little digging around a found out the truth. This neck was a piece of junk in the first place. The Online store I bought it from told me they were really sorry for my " misfortune " and that was that! Jackson was purchased by Fender and Fender was( is ) in between organizing the Jackson purchase, but basicly told me I'm screwed.
Besides the neck problem, the volume, tone knobs fall off once and a while and the tuning pegs get loose all the time. I had to lock-tite ( blue grade ) everthing on the guitar. I never had to do that before.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I do play live this this guitar once and a while but it scares me half to death. I always have a three pack of other guitars ready to roll. The Jackson usually is not in my hands or in the reserve rack.

Customer Support : 1
I never got to talk to a Jackson person, I was transfered to Fender. Fender has always been really helpful. They just couldn't even sell me a new neck because they don't have any to sell. I hope that gets better. The online/catalog company was hilarious to deal with. They never owned up to the neck being a second. Here is some of the letters they wrote.
Paul,
> Our sales reps do not know right off hand what is wrong with a blem
guitar. The only people in Musicians Friend that actually know what the
blemish or scratch/dent is, is our warehouse, because they can phisically
look at it and see what is wrong with it. Not every one in our warehouse is
as technical with musical equipment as our Technical support team is here. I
am sorry for your misfortune once again. I would hope that you would not let
this break the friendship between you and Musicians Friend. Good luck in the
future.
>
> We appreciate you choosing Musicians Friend.

> Paul,
> Sorry for the mix up with your guitar. We could have helped you out a lot
better if we would have known your complaints with in the first month of
having the guitar. Please feel free to contact us if you have anymore
questions or concerns.
>
> We appreciate you choosing Musicians Friend.

The Big problem here is that they sold me a guitar that was a COSMETIC BLEM but the real deal is they panned me a reject guitar that was way more than a paint chip. They advertise the "scratch and dent" items are purely cometic and don't effect the playablity. Bastards.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I bought one of these because a member of my band has one and I really liked it. Mine was a different story.
Again, Don't ever buy a online guitar without having a panel of experts look it over so you can be positive it is not a junker.
And while mister 08/04/02 and all his smarts ( $800.00 bucks for a $399.00 guitar? You dumby. ) gives me his wisdom on how I should have paid $40.00 on having a salesperson set up a guitar that you just spent the later part of $1000.00 for? The last time I had a "guitar tech" put on a set of strings for me he got confused and threaded the strings through the guitar backwards, locked the tops of the strings in the trem and I had about 3 inches of core with no windings on the E, A and D strings. Since we have gone to that level I'll give anonymous a tip. That Pentatonic box you have been playing for 5 years...It can Move! Ha, Ha! Hey it's ok dude, Greensleeves sounds cool with enough distortion. Right?

My Jackson has a metallic red "strat-shaped body", 24 fret neck with reversed sharkfin inlays, and a reverse headstock. I don't have a clue when or where it was made. It has 2 humbuckers - stock for now, I replaced the Jackson Floyd Rose with a real Floyd Rose. I give it a 10 because it has all the features that I wanted.

Sound : 9
I play through a Digitech RP50 and a Marshall Lead 12. It sounds pretty good, it's got good lows - good highs. I will eventually replace the pickups for something with a little more balls, but it sounds good for stock. I give it a 9 because I'm not completely happy with it's sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought it used, it was set up perfectly. There is no flaws, it's in great shape.

It seems very durable, very well built. I feel as if I can depend on it. No matter what my guitar is, I would never gig without a backup.

*not a clue when it was made but I think the sticker said made in india
*24 medium jumbo frets
*solinated top with a flamed veneer
*2 duncan designed passive humbuckers/ 3 way switch
*see through burnt cherry sunburst finish with a flamed veneer on the top
*jackson version of a floyd rose tremolo
*not sure the tuners brand but they are really quite close to the gotohs i have on my other guitar
*usual jackson neck fast thin butwider than an ibanez (i like having the extra room to bend)

Lets all be honest here. You know the features before you buy the freakign thing. i hate when people come one ehre and say the features suck but they buy it anyhow. Yuor supposed to buy what you need and what works for you. For me i needed another guitar with a tremolo, two humbuckers, a nice finish, and above all good playability and sound. I shoould give this a 10 beacsue i knew the features are exactly what i wanted but im giving it a 8 becuase the features arent without their flaws (read on)

Sound : 8
sounds really good in high gain situations, maybe a little bassy but i crank out alot of pinch harmonics and they soudn amazing, my only gripe is that on the lower gain settings and on the clean channel the guitar is a little bassy... most likely due to the pickups (which are duncn designed but very good for stocks)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
finish is great, action was great, nice sharkfin inlays, reverse headstock, light weight alternative to my seven string, and is justa really good looking all around piece of wood. My only gripee which was worth 2 points was the intonation on the g string was off but i fixed this and now its fine.and the tone knob was not tight at all from the factory.

its a little early for em to judge this but so far so good

Made in india. Floyed Rose Bridge with tremelo. H-H configuration and 3 way switching. 1 volume. 1 tone. reverse headstock with fin like inlays and 24 frets. Transparent blue finish. Well, to be honest i think that this guitar is a decent but i think i got suckered on the price. for 800 dollars i could have bought an epiphone les paul custom or black beutey. Anyways i think the fetures are great for a guitar that i will be using for quiet some time now.

Sound : 8
I play metal and old rock. (niel young, metallica, rush and a little van halen) and this thing does it perfectaly. I will be planing on having it taken to my local music store to get the bridge adjusted so i can tune it down to 1/2 step tuning with out disloging the nuts and putting them back on after i use the tuning knob. i dont know about any of you, but i hate stringing a floyed rose and the repeted tension on the strings when i remove the nut with probly break them, as to seeing i use .9 mm strings. Other than the whoile tuning thing, i will replace the pickups to Full fleged Semor duncans instead of the shitty duncan designed pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
To the guy that wrote artical #2 (paul). well if you actually payed 40 bucks to have the action fixed instead of messing with it yourself, maybe you wouldnt be playing one chord rap songs with it now would you? but if you were playing for 20 years, and knew what a good guitar was, maybe you would have noticed the action was too high before you cheaked out with it. i will have mine fixed on and it will sound great, hell it does already. As far as the finish- you are right, every bit of dust when i play in my garage seems to cling to the damn thing and it just gets so dirty. Jacksons gotta get so expert painters or something to take care of this finishing problem of theirs!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I droped it down the stairs and it didnt break or scratch be sides that, i cant honestly say thet much. - one thing i had to fix though- the plug hole bolt thingy used to come loose and my cord would fall out, but besides tightening it it has been a tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never did, never will.

Overall Rating : 8
Iv been playing for 5 years and its an awsome guitar. I wish the pickups were better and it didnt collect dust like teenagers do aids. I have a crate GX-60 and it sounds good with my DOD death metal pedal but if you play it clean i recomend a boss acustic simulator or something of the sort, these duncan designed humbuckers dont do the trick. i plan on getting a metal zone which blows the dod to hell and back but besides that this guitar screems. It is a good value for what everybody but me payed for it!

2002 Model made in Japan. 24 Jumbo Frets, Dinky style alder body with flamed maple veneer top in tobacco sunburst. 2 Duncan Design passive humbuckers w/ 3 way selector. Bolt on maple neck, 25.5 scale and very fast/wide profile, rosewood board with no binding and sharkfin inlays, reverse headstock. The neck finish isn't really satin, it's much lighter, almost feels like bare wood. Jackson made floyd bridge and Jackson tuners

Sound : 8
I like to play pretty much everything except country, but lean towards fast and heavy. I live in an apartment so my amp is limited to a Fender practice amp and a Korg pandora practice unit, although I can hook up with a Crate voodoo when I can make the time. Effects are limited to a wah and maybe a bit of delay. Distortion is controlled through the amp.

Overall, I like the sound very much. Generally, if it sounds good with the limited equipment I have, it will have no problems with a good tube head. At first I wasn't sure about the Duncan Designed, but they're actually not bad. MidRangy, but you can get very decent harmonics out of them, and the alder/maple top body gives the sound that extra definition. I've found that other guitars in this (very cheap) pricerange use basswood or poplar bodies which tend to be muddy. I still will probably switch out the pickups with something hotter, maybe EMG or Dimarzio Evo's, and I'm positive this thing will just rip.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Excellent quality overall! The USA vs. Japan thing is a non-issue at this point, especially when an American Jackson is well over a grand. Granted, they are works of art, but for me the enjoyment is finding something that performs far beyond what you pay for it.

The workmanship on this one is great. All hardware was tight and clean. The maple had a really nice flame and wasn't bookmatched but pretty close. You wouldn't even know it's just a veneer if they didn't tell you, but it still works tonally. The tobacco burst was well done, with a really uniform fade from the edges. The body looks to be one piece as well. Fretwork was very clean and the neck was straight. The finish on the neck is excellent; can't tell what they used, but it's better than a satin and almost feels like raw wood, which is what I prefer. The rosewood board was dark and even in color, and the sharkfin inlays are clean with almost no filler and a nice M.O.P. Neck pocket was tight....this is always a stickler for me, and it just bugs the hell out of me if there's a gap.

Hardware is silver and consists of a Jackson Licenced Floyd and Jackson tuners. The floyd seems fine, and has kind of a lo-pro look to it. Might change it out for a Schaller or something down the road, but it's solid and works fine. The tuners were tight, smooth turning and no slips. Pots were the knurled metal kind with a blade style 3 way switch.

Like I said the quality is terrific. It seems like this model, in previous years, was made in India or whatever, and had resulting workmanship issues. I guess the switch to Japanese manufacture has helped things out quite a bit.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This thing is built tough. My yardstick for abuse is usually a Fender strat since they are ridiculous, and this feels very solid in comparison. Granted, the thin neck isn't going to withstand everything, but it does feel more solid than a Wizard.

The weight is excellent; light but not cheap feeling, and the finish is tough. The dinky style body is a more compact version of the strat and just feels great. I think it's actually almost an inch shorter on the upper horn. Solid strat buttons, but straplocks recommended.

Never gig without a backup, especially with a floyd.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing off and on for many years, very seriously for the past 3. I have a Peavey Wolfgang, Custom Shop Strat and a Ibanez RG570. I've been eyeing Jackson's for a little while now, and bought this on a whim. It just seemed like a bargain with the (apparent) quality, and the fact that I could pick it up and see it helped out quite a bit. I know online you can probably save about $50 bucks, I've done it, but a good once over in person is worth that much, especially when it comes to how it all fits together. The DX stacks up to all of my other axes and is great player, stock. With a pickup change, this thing will just blast. You can tell the tone is there, just needs some additional volume and color.

Like I said, nothing better than getting more than you paid for. I liked this guitar when I bought it, obviously, but had no great expectation. After having it for awhile, I've really come to love it. I'm especially impressed with Jackson. Always heard about how great their US stuff is, but with most companies the low end goes out the window. This is probably the best import I've played.

I think this guitar was made in India. Maple neck, rosewood fret board, 24 frets, solid top. Two Duncan design pickups, passive 103's, three way toggle. Floyd licensed wammy bar, locking nut. Small nice Strat type body.

Sound : 7
The dinky could be a great guitar. Low noise for what it is. I run through a Laney pro tube 50 with a boss eq and a boss reverb/delay. Duncan pickups sound real good for metal. I was really impressed. Stange, but it dosen't get real good pick harmonic squeal. Other than the lack of harmonic squeal it sounds very good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Sucks. Granted this was a finish flaw guitar but I'm not talking about the paint job. The guitar was sent with a real high action. So I've been messing around with the neck truss, nut and trem forever. The neck is bent at the 2nd fret, bad, and the only fix is high action. Jackson can take this guitar and shove it up there ass. As far as a metal guitar, why I bought it, it is the worst. A cheap Fender squire that I own has way lower action. Bent necks don't make me want to run out and buy another Jackon at any price.

Reliability/Durability : 2
Every time I pick this guitar up the action is different. I gonna give this thing away. I wouldn't use it to gig as my back-up's back-up. I've played with the truss so much I tossed the neck plate in the trash. Maybe It would play one chord rap songs.

Amendment to prior review......The guitar buzzed at the first fret on the b and e strings and the open d string buzzed bad also. Decided to adjust the truss rod and still could not fix the buzzing. Took the axe back to guitar center for an exchange and played 3 other DX10d's that all had the exact same buzz at the same spots. The tech at GTR center was able to correct this but now the intonation is slightly out. Luckily, the original purchaser has a 1 year warranty from Jackson . I am contemplating sending the guitar to them for a new neck.
This guitar is a great slammer...i.e if you need in inexpensive axe that looks cool and sounds fairly good this is it. But this line is seriously flawed. Jackson just kicks these suckers out with little quality control. I am hoping to get mine in shape soon but may return it and just buy a more expensive axe to avoid the headaches. Remeber, you get what you pay for. This is not the axe of anyone's dreams.....just a good backup with a shitload of manufacturing flaws. I love this guitar but if got stolen or broken in ? I would probably shrugg my shoulders and forget about it.....

Strat style body features 2 dimarzio humbuckers, maple neck and maybe an ash body. Made in India in 2000 or 2001 . The neck has a great feel to it and the shark inlays make for an attractive look. The floyd rose is great and this baby has 24 frets.

I play all kinds of music but use this guitar in a dropped D tuning for newer material ( Disturbed, Saliva, Godsmack, etc). I run through a Mesa Boogie Dual rectifier into two mesa 2x12 cabinets loaded with 90 watt blackshadow speakers. I have an SKB pedalboard : Vox wah/Boss SD-1/boss noise gate to amp. Fx loop to Boss EQ, Boss ce5 chorus, Boss flanger, boss Pf3 phase shifter, Boss DD5 delay/digitech reverb unit back to amp. This guitar does feedback a bit even at very low volumes with my setup. My 4 other main guitars ( Ibanez Prestige, MusicMan, Fender Strat, Jackson Dinky Xl) do not feedback like this guitar does. The pickups are ok but I will most likely replace them. However, this axe does sound great for the price.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action on this guitar is very low. I believe the nut is a bit low since the open d string buzzes. I will have to tweak it a bit but it is overall very nice. The Sunburst finish is awesome.

I recently bought a Jackson DX10 D guitar. It has some really nic features. It has an awesome flame maple tap with a burnt cherry sunburst (looks like a orange-yellow sunset). It also has a volume, tone and 3 way selector switch. Its equipped with 2 Duncan Designed Humbuckers. The neck is made out of maple, as for the body, probably alder or ash. One of my favorite parts about this thing is its Floyd Rose teamed up with a locking nut. :) It has what apears to be Gotoh tuners, which work perfect. Also one of the main points on this axe is the neck and fretobard. Its not too small, but not big enough to go over medium Id say. The fretboard is nearly flat and allows for nice speed, the inlays are beautiful sharkfins and look like real pearl (no idea what it really is but I dont care).

Sound : 10
My style is a southern style ix of blues and metal. Lots and bends, hammers, etc. Most of the technique is in my left hand (Im a southpaw), so my right hand picks maybe half the notes I play except chords of course). It handles it perfectly. I replaced its's stock strings (no idea what they were, they werent too bad) with a set of Super Slinkies, and it sings. You know when you combine super slinkies and tuning down a step and a half you get some major bending! Hell, sometimes I dont need the whammy for raises! It's very quiet, and only gives of a little noise when I turn on my Danelectro EQ pedal. By itself it's quiet as a corpse. It has a very rich soud, the only thing I can think of that variates it from other good sounding guitars are it's highs. It's highs have a little more edge than normal, which I personally love. I play with the highs boosted on my amp, my distortion pedal (DOD Grunge), and my EQ pedal. It screams so much, I wear earplugs to avoid a staticy sound my ears start making after about 10 minutes (no joke). It doesnt fare very well at making mellow highs without outside help from pedals and/or amps. I personally have no dislikes with this guitar, its the first I've found that has ever been totally pleasing.

When I got it, I took out one of the springs in the tremolo (came with 3) for easier vibratos and divebombs, and leveled the neck pickup with the pickup frame. That was it. One thing that caught my attention when I first picked this thing up was how low the nut was set. About 2mm!!!! This means I now I have 2mm action all the way up the neck, with no buzz anywhere!I got rid of my Jackson RR (offset V) for extra cash to get this. My V's nut was set higher, so the first 2 frets gave annoying buzzes, I hated it. No problem with this baby. The flamed maple top is matched 3mm off, but still looks good. Other than that, there were only 2 othr problems. One is that about 5 of the frets werent full filled on the side of the neck facing you, but doesnt affect playing at all. The other could be a problem to some people. One of the screws holding the spring claw for the tremolo in was screwed in at an angle. This means you have to monkey with it more the normal to get the bridge to balance out with the string tension. This would definitely be a problem with people who don't like to work on their axe. I can say that none fo these problems effect it's playing or sounds at all.

This guitar will easily withstand gigging, and the finsih is very nice and solid. I don't think the hardware will have a problem and the strap buttons are nice and tight. I would however take a backup for it if I gigged, who wouldnt with a Floyd Rose? Break a string and you need a backup!

I haven't had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
In the end, I have to say this is the best axe I've ever played. Nothing annoys me with it. This wouldnt be a guitar for casual players however, because it's Floyd Rose needs's attention to stay in tip-top shape. I wouldn't say I'd buy this same model again, because who knows if it'd have the same feel as this one. I will never pledge my allegiance to one guitar model, I pledge my allegiance to which ever guitar feels best. If some used Kasino guitar with the lower horn brok off feels the best to me, then I pledge my allegiance!! :) The only thing I wish it had, would be a toggle (the clicky metal ones) switch instead of a nomal switch, but that's just because I have a weird thing for them. I love that clicking sound they make!

Made in 2001 in India. It has all the features I wanted: a pointy reverse headstock, 24 jumbo frets, rosewood fretboard with shark fin inlays, bolt-on maple neck, locking nut, strat-style alder body with flame maple top, licensed Floyd Rose bridge, dual Duncan Designed humbuckers, 3-way selector blade, 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob, chrome hardware, and a beautiful Burnt Cherry Sunburst finish. This guitar has everything I want and nothing I don't. This isn't just some old axe that I picked up in a pawn shop. The time had come for me to procure my IDEAL guitar, and this was it, so naturally, I'm completely satisfied with its features.

I play hard rock and heavy metal, and many sub-genres of these. I lean more towards shred than anything else, and this is like the sterotype shred guitar. I'm currently running it through my DOD FX86 then into my shitty old solid-state Peavey. This guitar sounds much brighter than most other guitars of this type (such as Ibanez RGs). It isn't very noisy, due to the humbucking pickups. The locking nut keeps it in tune, and the Floyd Rose bridge is the best on the market. I don't believe it's a Floyd Rose Original, but I could be wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by the pickups on it (Duncan Designed 103s). I actually expected them to suck, but they really do sound good. They're well-balanced with an emphasis on the mids, medium output. I hate pickups with ultra-high output anyway. I'll probably replace these someday, but the stocks sound just fine. Everything about this guitar sounds great. I can't give it a 10, because it dosen't have a DiMarzio PAF Pro in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck, so I'll give it a 9.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Pretty much everything was set up good when I got it. Of course, I had to adjust the action to my taste and raise the bridge pickup slightly, but things like that need to be done on just about any guitar. I saw no point in having it professionally set-up, seeing as how I can do just as good a job for free. The tone knob was loose when I got it, but all I had to do was tighten down the little screw on the side. The finish on this guitar is absolutley beautiful. I could sit there and stare at it for hours. It's the kind of guitar that looks much better in real life than in a picture. The finish and all the parts were flawless.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've only owned it for about a week, but this is definitely a solidly-built guitar. It's made in India, but don't let that fool you, it's good quality. The hardware seems sturdy enough, and the finish is rock solid. The strap buttons are huge, so you don't have to worry about the guitar sliding out of your strap as much. I'm eventually going to install some Straplocks on it, but these are fine for now. I would never gig without a backup guitar, just because a string could break or something like that, but the guitar itself could definitely withstand it.

I haven't had to deal with Jackson yet, so that's a plus. There is some kinda warranty paper that came with it, but to be honest, I haven't looked into very much yet, simply because I know a good quality guitar when I see one, and this baby dosen't look or feel like it will need repairs anytime soon.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 4 years now. I love everything about this guitar and dislike nothing. The only things I would ever dream of changing on it are the pickups and the strap buttons. The stock pickups are very good, just not exactly what I want. If anyone ever stole this guitar I'd hunt them down and stab them in the face with a soldering iron. I'm not kidding, and that's not a figure of speech! In the event that the guitar had to be replaced, like if someone permanently tainted it by using it to play Nu-Metal or something like that, I would buy another one in a heartbeat. I compared this to all other guitars I know of, and this just happened to be exactly what I'm looking for. This is living proof that you don't have to pay thousands of dollars to get a good looking, good sounding, good playing axe. In your face Gibson!

Made in 2000 (India) this guitar has 24 jumbo frets, a Floyd Rose double locking temelo and a beautiful translucent dark blue flamed maple top that looks indestructable. The double humbuckers cancel very nicely and produce great distorion as well as clean tones. They are controlled by a three way switch. The body is a stat style with an upside down head, they just had to be different... Comes with a tuning kit - a couple of allen wrinches and a wierd looking hex wrench.

Sound : 8
I mostly play rock type stuff (Tool, Def Tones, etc) and this guitar kicks ass thorough all the tough distortion but clean tones are bright as well! I play through Crate amps and Boss effects (distortion, chorus, Wah) and this thing makes my Crate sing. For the price the guitar plays pretty good - not as nice as my Gibson Studio but nice for an inexpensive (relativly) guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action was set pretty high from the factory and I had to play a bit with the setup to keep the low E and A strings from buzzing when I lowered the bridge. I am always surprized how well the thing stays in tune when cranking the whammy bar. Which, brings me to another point. Tuning can be a bitch but once you get used to tuning and locking down a Floyd Rose you will do fine. Pickups were a little low. Once I finished the setup this thing can really crank! Plays sweet! One thing I do hate - the damn whammy bar keps coming loose. It's just the screw on cap type - grr.

Reliability/Durability : 7
One 1 inch chunck of wood got broken off the head. Those pointy upside down heads are always asking for trouble. Doesn't effect performance at all and it's on the back side so not really visable when playing. The translucent blue is absolutely striking. Unless you plan on swinging it around by the head stock and punching it thorough your speaker cabinet multiple times it should be fine on stage. Just bring a second guitar if you need alternate tunings - the Floyd Rose makes it prohibitive to retune live.

Don't kow, never tried.

I've been playing for about 12 years and have owned about 10 different guitars (both electric and acoustic) and this is now one of my favs. My Gibson collection (Explorer and Studio) will remain my favorites for gigs but for an inexpensive (under USD $400) this is the one I play. Great for rehersals, etc. This is the best mid-range guitar I have owned to date. If you are just starting or looking to upgrade to a midlevel guitar that sounds great but you want to beat the crap out of guilt free this is it.

Made in Japan (I think) 24 frets, volume and tone, 3-way selector, 2 duncan designed humbuckers, beatiful transparent red finish, strat body style, floyd rose double locking tremolo.

Sound : 10
This amp sounds awesome. It really actually improves the sound of a crappy little practice amp like I have, but also, since I do have only a crappy little practice amp, it is really hard to say what it sounds like. I can get a really dark sound without much tone to a bright glassy clean.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Well, I think I need to have it set up proffessionaly, and the pickups wiggle around alot. The finish is absolutely beautiful, transparent red, you can see the grain in the wood. It did come with a loose volume knob that had to be tightened, and came with a dent and a scratch on the back.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It seems like a very well made guitar, I have only had it for a couple of days so it is hard to say.

I love this guitar. It sounds awesome, is one of the best looking guitars I have seen. I've been having some tuning troubles with the floyd rose, but I think I've got that problem solved and I'm sure a professional setup will help, too. I love this guitar!!! Absolutely amazing for the money!!!
