Well, the equipment is standard and can be classified as an out of the way push attempt by Jackson to make a kick ass playable, and awsome sounding gig guitar for a price that just kicks ass. I got mine on clearence and it was about 350 offthe list price. Not bad, seeing as to the Duncan Design humbuckers and the floyed rose locking system. I have to admit this is what i will be playing for a while, and the features and neck on it make it a far cry from the peice of crap squier i played. I definently have to say if it were lost, id pay double to have it back.........

A little bassy, but hey, a flip of the high end on the amp and a little mid adjusting make it sound great. I would definently recomend a BOSS ACUSTIC SIMULATOR (AC-2) for playing it clean. Other than that, i think this guitar kicks ass.

The action was far better than i expected. Jackson did a great job at setting it up. I think that i would have expected less of a setup for the price i paid but the guitar was more than what i thought.

I havnt had the chance to smash it yet (hell i dont even got no back up)but its decent and sturdy. I have to take it into the shop in the month to have it Setup again.but besides that iv been playing for a while and think its a decent ax.

heres what i say, guitar center made a positive and honest effort to get me an axe that would play nice and be a great choice. I was even hooked on an epiphone custom les paul and the guy said "that guitar is nice (450) but I would rather have you get this jackson here (250) for a 200 dollar difference, and it sounds great to boost. Just try this out" I have to say the guy saved me 200$ and he was honest to a fault....thats why im going to guitar center for all myt needs...the people are great and care for the customer...and thats what we need more of nowadays..........

This is a basic mid-level Jackson; single-locking Floyd copy, two Duncan Designed humbuckers, 5-way selector switch.

I like the sound of this guitar. It gets a nice, raunchy tone through my setup.

Okay, I have a couple of very minor gripes here. The whammy is a single-locking Floyd copy. They could have gone a couple of dollars more and at least used a double-locking copy. Here's one thing I've learned recently which helps a lot: SOLDER THE BALL ENDS OF YOUR STRINGS SO THE BALLS CAN'T SHIFT AROUND. It makes a WORLD of difference, not only in tuning stability but also in making the guitar feel more solid. The other minor gripe is that the nut on the input tends to come loose. At least it did until I tightened it recently with a wrench.
This neck plays like a dream! I love the feel of this guitar. It has the small frets, which I prefer, as opposed to the super large jumbos.

I've been playing for 20+ years and this guitar is fantastic for the money. It looks like the guy who wrote the review below mine got a lemon. I've picked up and played several of these (plus the DX10D) in stores and they all seem pretty sturdy. I wish it had a real Floyd, but those have now gotten into the league of $1500.00+ guitars. That's ridiculous because I have a 1986 Kramer with a real Floyd and it cost $480.00 new.
As of this writing, Guitar Center has the DK2 on sale for $299.99. That's with a double-locking Floyd copy, sharkfin inlays, and a transparent finish. I paid $349.00 a little over a year ago and now I feel slightly ripped off. I don't blame Jackson or Guitar Center, though. That's just how the cookie crumbles.
Would I buy it again? Yes, but NOT for the price I paid, considering how Jackson's in this range have dropped recently.

I bought it new. 24 frets. Dual Duncan Humbuckers. The body is alder, painted metallic red, with a maple neck / rosewood fretboard.
The bridge is a floyd rose, that moves up and down.

The pickups sound heavy when the selector is in the middle possition, but sound way to bassy. When you put the selector all the way to the right you get a very weak single coil sound with no gut at all.

When I bought this guitar new off the shelf I obviously wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. The people who manufactured it weren't either for that matter. It seemed fine in the store, the action was nice and low and fast how I like it. It wasn't until I brought it home that I noticed a buzzing sound every time I tapped the neck from the top and back. Even strings buzzed every time I played. I put new strings on and tryed to raise the action and adjust it in some way. What I discovered was that the neck is completely bowed. When the bridge is perfectly paralled to the body, the strings are low and the 1st through 5th frets and high at the 8 - 24th frets. Seems like a bent neck to me.

I'm returning this guitar. I really expected more from a $350 piece of equipment. What a disappointment. I hate Jackson.
