Jackson tuners
Thin scale neck, 25.5"

Sound : 10
It suits my musical styles very well which are primarily shred and metal. I usually play through a Marshall AVT 150 combo, which is solid state with a tube in the pre-amp section. It is suprisingly quiet on stage compared to the other guitars I have used. It has a wide spectrum of sound from a heavy crunch for metal, to a bright crisp jazz tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
At first I didn't like the action at all, but once I got it set up properley at the local shop I go to (Musicians Network) it has played efortlessley. The finish and binding were done correctly, yet it hasn't retained much of a shine. Also the volume knob will not stay on the guitar, I've switched the knob it self, but just live with out it.

Reliability/Durability : 7
The guitar withstands live playing very well, and stays in tune even though I do a lot of whammy tricks. The hardware may have to be changed a bit pre-matureley yet I would infact play a gig without a backup and have without any problems.

Features : 9
Made in Japan 2004
24 jumbo frets
1 volume 1 tone 3-way selector
H-H configuration
2 EMG HZ's that are....passive
Colour: BLACK
Strat body
Licenced Floyd Rose

Sound : 9
I play NWOBHM and 80's heavy metal, and this guitar suits my style quite well. The pickups are quite hot, and they sound good if you're looking for a pickup for metal. I'd give it a ten with EMG 81's.
Pickups should be warmer, but for lead playing they are good. With heavy distortion the neck pu gets a bit muddy too. Not much variety with this guitar, but hey, I BOUGHT THIS FOR METAL

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Factory set-up was ok, i just had to set-up the tremolo system a bit.

Reliability/Durability : 9
No problems so far...would gig w/out backup.

No idea....

I have been playin for 2 years. I used to play with my fathers Gibson LP Standard, but i was too non-metal...XD

I think this instrument is good value for the price, which doesn't mean it is flawless. I've had this model for over a year. For one, the pickups will have too be changed eventually since the passive EMhz sound too muddy and not warm enough especially for playing rythm.

- The neck feels great and is fast. It is maple if memory serves me right.

- The pickup selector switch is real cheap (made of plastic) and will need to be changed. Buying a new switch cost me about 25$ can.

- The floyd on this guitar is of average quality: guitar needs to be re-tuned pretty often and, if it were not only for me using the whammy, I'll just block the mechanism and save myself problems. Nothing spectacular here. I might change it eventually for a genuine floyd rose (which is way more expensive too).

Sound : 9
Some users may point to the opposite, but this guitar is not that versatile...it suits better metalheads obviously.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
One of the thing I hate the most is the finish!! It cracks easily and, even by paying attention, your guitar will not remain scratch-free for long.

I also found the frets to rust easily although I did not expose the guitar to any radical temperatures...

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I wouldn't use this guitar as my main axe for the simple reason that the guitar, even when properly set up, can go out of tune too much for my taste.

Most importantly, I think you should realise all the contraints that buying a black guitar will bring: fingerprints and dust are basically a problem that only constant polishing can save... it can get annoying...

Also, remember that, although this guitar is pretty cheap (for all its features and real cool look), though it needs maintenance and, eventually, upgrading. I find it doubtful that most buyers would want to keep for long the EMGhz...the pickup selector also caused me problems as it is cheap and made of plastic!!! (got another one made of metal)....

It looks good, feels good, but you'll end up paying much more than what you did in the long haul. Make sure you buy lots of guitar polish if you pick this one up!

I use this guitar to play metal for the most part (metallica, new sum41, pantera, etc..) The stock pickups were pretty decent, but they didn't have quite the punch I was looking for. I upgraded them to active EMG-81s. I play through a Line 6 Spider II amp. This guitar sounds great for soloing or for playing intense rythm riffs, although it lacks a little bottom end (alder/maple/emg81 does this). This is really no problem though, I'm just a bit picky. The cleans are really clean, and the harmonics are great. I give it a rating of 7 with the original pickups and 9 with the new ones.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Everything was perfect from the factory, except for the action, which was a little to high for my tastes. I tend to like it lower than most people though, so that shouldn't be an issue. All it takes is a few turns of an allen wrench to lower it anyway. I didn't use the stock controls for long, so I don't know what quality they are. The finish was beautiful glossy black and didn't even have a finger smudge on it.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I just got it, so I haven't been playing it for long enough to find out yet. It seems pretty solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them yet... hopefully won't have to.

I've been playing for almost 3 years now. Aside from this, I own a Fernandes Ravelle Elite ($1,100 list) which has the traditional Les Paul neck feel to it. This guitar is nicer for playing leads and is more comfortable playing high up the fingerboard. I still love my Ravelle more though (they serve different purposes). When puchasing this guitar I compared it primarily with the ESP KH-202, which has all the same features. Its body is made of basswood though, which is not as nice as alder. For the price, this is the best metal/rock guitar on the market and with upgraded pickups it competes with $700-$800 guitars in terms of sound.

2002? 2003 model? not sure.

24 frets, nice inlays (sharkfin)

Came stock with EMG-HZ's, but i took them out after about a year and put in a Seymour duncan 59 in the neck, and a Duncan Dimebucker in the bridge. The dimebucker kicks ass!

Sound : 10
I play metal. The emgs were ok, but the seymour duncans are a lot nicer. I play through a Mesa dual recto, and with this guitar, it sounds SICK!!!!(really good) I plug straight into the amp and use the amps drive. I used the guitar with one of my friends Line 6 Pod xt, and it worked out alright, but not as nice as the mesa.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Beautiful action, very nice for an inxpensive guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Very reliable, never had a problem.

I gig with it all the time, but i do bring a backup guitar, incase I break a string, thats the only reason!

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them.

2003 made in Japan. 24 frets with shark inlays. H/H EMG HZ. Alder body. Black finish. Soloist style body, floyd rose type bridge.

Gets a 7 cuz the floyd is pretty crappy compared to others and the HZ pickups suck balls! Other than this the rest is pretty good.

Sound : 9
I use this guitar through a Peavey XXX. At first this guitar saounded like crap, EMG HZ's were muddy and not very hot. I got some Dimarzio's for christmas (super dist and paf pro) and noticed a huge difference. Awesome sound, great dist tone on the super dist and a very smooth tone from the paf pro.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar came perfectly set up from the factory!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Awesome quality! The only thing I don't like so much is the neck, it's kind of chunky compared to my ibanez rg's. Other than that it's rock solid, great guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had any problems with the guitar.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for five years. I own a Peavey XXX, marshall MG50dfx, ibanez rg 1570, ibanez rg 350, fender standard tele, fender standard strat, epiphone les paul, gibson faded v, muddy waters tele. What i love about this guitar is the quality, once again, it's very solid. What I hate? The crappy ass floyd and stock pick ups it came with. This guitar can be modified with some after market pickups of choice and an original floyd to kick some ass. Gets a nine because of the shitty stock emg's.

Nice shaped axe! I bought it for the Floyd Rose which works very well.

Sound : 10
If have play this guitar on a Marhsall JCM2000-top and a POD 2.3 on my computer. It has quite, clear and well balanced tone and hot as hell! I didn't hear it with an EMG'81-pickup, but I can't imagen that it could sound a lot better than this. Of course in first place it is meant to be a metal-guitar, but I think it could also be just for pop and some blues-rock.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar plays fast, very easy to handle. Good factory setup, although I had to refix the action after two days. The Floyd Rose works as always. I like the looks of this guitar, a real babe-magnet.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The only thing a can 'complain' about is that I think the input-jack must be replaced soon, because it is (already) making unwanted noises. I heard that the inside hardware is of less quality so maybe I have to replace that in the future, but still this guitar is of a very high standard.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Of all guitars I have owned (and which were much more expensive), this one is the best. And after 17 years experience I know it can't go much better than this.

Its a 2004 or a 2003 not completley sure
24 frets
1 vomume, 1 tone, 3 way selector (which i like.I dont like to many options)
Humbucker humbucker congfiguration, 2 EMG-HZ's passive
alder body, maple neck
Floyd rose bridge (has its ups and downs)

Sound : 9
I play mostly metal and Nu-metal such as Tool,Korn,Chimaria,Lamb of god and Black Sabbath. Stuff like that. Im running it thru a small amp, 8 inch 30 watt marshall. Nothing to brag about. And a digitech RP100. The guitar has a great sound. A little bit Muddy but that's probaly my crappy amp.The only thing i dont like about the guitar is the jack got loose after only having it for about 3 months so it cut out every once in awhile.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When i got the guitar it was in perfect conditon. I got it thru a dent and scratch thing thru american musical. You can just bareley see the dent. And like i said before, the jack came loose but thats not to big a deal. Had that fixed in no time.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Very dependable guitar, if the jack dosent come loose again

Ive been playing for about 5 years. Its the best guitar ive owned so far. If it were stolen i would hunt the son of a bitch down and do very evil things to them. Stuff that would make ted bundy cringe. As far as loosing it goes, ill never lose it. That thing is permenatly attached to my hip. Im probaly gonna some EMG 81/85's on it as soon as i get the money. Other than that, the guitar is perfect. Great for metal.

Ok, here we go. First, after a month the tone and volume knobs starts to falls off and that caused noise and a lost of tone. Have it repair... One week later, same thing happen and the jack doesn't want to stay in place. Got it fixed again but after 5 month I still have this fucking problem. Then the floyd breaked so I cannot touch it because I'm getting out of tune. The finish really suck, you touch it, you scratch it!

You must be a complete idiot if you use this thing live and you must be a fucking retarded if you use it without backups.

Customer Support : 1
WHAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT??? I can't contact jackson. I have to use my local retailler which said to me "no, this guitar doesn't make noise" come on, I have a Nevada which is more quiet!

Overall Rating : 3
I'm a guitarist since 99 and I bought this guitar has a replacement for my RG-270 because the floyd was "dead". This is defenitively the worst guitar i ever had. My Nevada AMX custum cost me 100$ CND with the amp and it still in good condition. I'm realy desapointed of jackson because I know the USA shop make goods guitars but the korean models really SUCKS. Jackson's guitars is in general for hardrock and metal, so what did they think??? That I will use this guitar sat in my bed??? This is A FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT! I give it 3 only because of the "good" pickup.
