The guitar was set-up perfectly from Jackson, guitar center had to order it from Jackson for me because they were out of stock, which was fine by me,I put it on layaway and I have $111.61 to go!,but it's worth the wait, the pickups were adjusted perfectly and basically the guitar has no flaws!,hopefully it will stay that way when I get to take it home, this guitar can handle those dive-bombs,and you can bend those notes to hell and back and the strings always return to pitch.

Pretty nice guitar for working at Boston Market for a month.Jackson,a brand that has delivered.I bought this in November of 2001 from musicians friend. It came with a jackson hardshell case,i was very surprised when it came with the case.bolt on neck with a rosewood fingerboard,24 jumbo frets, jackson tuners, strat style body, beautiful sharkfin inlays, reverse headstock, emg hz pickups, locking tremelo, one volume, one tone...what more can i ask for?i did have some problems with the tremelo...the strings would buzz occasionaly which is really frustration,so i had to mess with the tremelo but that problem is now fixed, just set the inotation and action and you'll be fine, make sure you have a back up guitar because it takes a couple of days for it to hold tune after restringing.a nice guitar for 400.i wanted to get a rhoads model but they were out of stock...due to the fact that i'm impatient i just said gimme the dxmg and i was very satisfied.

2001 model. Mine was made after August of this year so it was made in Japan and not india.
Black (the only colour you can get it in)
Has one volume, one tone and a three way selector switch.
Neck and Bridge humbucker, they're the passive EMG-HZ models.
JT500 bridge which is similar to a Floyd. Good tuners, locking nut.
Nice neck, easy access to all frets. Rosewood fingerboard with shark fin inlays.
Came with a hardshell case.

The EMG-HZ pickups aren't up to the same level as the EMG 81's or 85's. But for stock, these things are awesome!!
They handle distortion and clean settings nicely. I've since removed them and replaced them with my pickup of choice (EMG 81)
However.. These things were good enough that we slapped them into the other guitarist in my band's Epiphone LES Paul, and the guitar sounds 10 times better then when it was stock.
Anyways, now my DXMG is flipping amazing!!! We play thrash and industrial and I get a lot of crunch out of it!!
I loved it before and I love it even more now! And my friend loves his Les Paul 1000 times more with the EMG-HZ pickups in it!

This guitar was ment for live playing! It was ment to take a beating! The hardware is top notch! This finish is nice, it has held up well!
I'm still using the original strap buttons and haven't needed to tighten them yet. This guitar is my main ax, I've depended on it for countless shows already. I always have a backup, but only because it takes time to replace a broken string on a guitar with a floating bridge.

Jackson is awesome! They have a good site, with an excellent bulletin board where you can share info with other players. I haven't needed to have this beast repaired yet, but I've heard great things. On op of that my local Jackson dealer takes good care of me.
The warrenty is a limited-lifetime deal, and they pay for shipping if it's needed.

I've been playing for 16 years, I own two american Fender strats, an old Ibanez and a Guild acoustic. I usually play through my Marshall JCM 800, but also own a Peavy 5150. If it were lost or stolen I'd replace it right away as I need this guitar for playing life and recording. I love everything about this guitar, it does everything I want it to. I like it better then any of my other guitars. I chose this guitar based on it's price, feel of the neck, and the fact that the stock pickups were some of the best I've ever seen.

the setup was alkmost perfect. i had the tech change the factory strings (d'addario) to ernie ball regular slinky 10 gauge strings. the action was absolutely perfect, pickups were fine and bridge was good. the only thing that could've been better was the 3 way selector switch. it was a bit wobblely, just a bit, not too much. anyways, it would only cost $2 to replace and is fairly easy. other than that, it was setup perfect.

ive played some jam sessions with it and this guitar will withstand playing. the hardware seems like it will last. the finish seems great. i dont bump my guitar too much anyways. the button straps are very solid. and i ould depend on it no problem. i would gig with it without a backup, but thats only because i dont have another guitar

This guitar is pretty new. Its made in India and has 24 frets. Its got a good finish to it and a tone, 3 way and volume control on it. its got impressive emg hz pickups which provide a good sound. the neck is a little wide and quite flat on the back but its easily got used to. its only available in black but still looks good. Its well designed for easy comfortable playing in the lower frets. the frets are jumbo sized. i didn't get any accessories with this beast.
Sound
:

this guitar is meant to be played hard and it lives up to it with the emg pick ups. the clean sound is not too good but cranking up the distortion will provide an ultimate performance. I'd recommend some kinda effects unit for this guitar to increase its variety of sounds.

Mine was made in India, The features are simple but give you a pretty good tone variety, the EMG's really make the difference, I played a Rhoads model at the music store with standard pickups and these blow them away, I have a dimarzio super distortion and it has more crunch than the dimarzio. The cut away makes the high frets more accessible than most strats I have played. I was impressed by the tremelo you can put some serious stress on the strings, In my opinion I believe it is superior to the schaller I used on my old focus strat..
Sound
:

This guitar suits my music style and the style I like is Metal and Classical. The clean tone is better off if you can afford to put some effects to it. I use a Digitech rack effect and put some delay and chorus on it and you can get a nice clean sound. For the Metal side I use a Danelectro Black Coffee and Man will it just rock..Palm mutting gives you that real heay thick tone (MegaDeth, Metallica) Move your selector all the way back and a little bass off the tone knob!!!!
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

If I had to pick something I didn't like and that is tuff with this guitar it would only be the setup from the factory. The Tremelo was laid back a bit and the action was higher than my taste. Easy fix just get your allen out and tweak the bridge down a few turns, change strings set the tremelo and your in business to shred!!!
Reliability/Durability
:

I really haven't had it long enough to make a reliability statement but Nothings came lose yet and I have been dive bombing and pulling the hell out of the stings with the tremelo..Good sign!!!

I have been playing for 15 years. I have used kramer, fender, gibson guitars, Marshall JCM 900, Crate G60 series older Ozite style, other smaller crate amps, and a Laney Half Stack. For effects I own a Digitech Rack Effect system, Danelcetro Black Coffee Distortion. I have used all kinds of pedals and let me save you some money and time the only pedals you need are (Black Coffee and Boss Digital Delay). If it were stolen I would be looking for the S.O.B. I love this guitar. I like this strat because its just mean! I compared it to other Jacksons and they are all good but the EMG's set this one apart. If I had to pick something just to put it over the top EMG 81's would be a killer on this one, the HZ are mean don't get me wrong.

This guitar is a 2001 model. It is made in India. It has 24 Jumbo frets, a solid alder body, 25 1/2" scale bolt-on maple neck with bound rosewood fretboard, & reverse headstock. The electronics consist of 1-volume, 1-tone, 3 way strat type pickup selector, & 2-EMGHZ pickups. The pickups are passive humbuckers. Unfortunately the only color available at the time I ordered it was black. The guitar is a strat type body, Jackson calls it a Dinky. It has a liscensed Floyd Rose bridge, and Jackson tuners.
I rate it a nine because I would like to have had active pickups.
Sound
:
10
Although I would liked to have had EMG 81s in this guitar, the EMG HZ1 pickups scream pretty well. I bought this guitar for Heavy Metal music (Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, etc.). It works well for this style. I might get an EMG Afterburner, it is basically a 20db gain boost. That would make these pickups scream more than they already do. The best part about these pickups is the neck pickup isn't muddy. I always hate when I get a great crunchy tone with the bridge pickup & then switch to the neck pickup and it sounds muddy (not articulate). I also can turn the volume down & switch to the neck pickup and can get a nice slightly distorted bluesy tone.
I run my guitars through a Peavey TubeFex into a Peavey Envoy 110.
I think the sound could be better, but I feel that a proper poweramp and 2x12 cabinet would correct it, so I gave the the sound a 10 instead of a 8 or 9.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

I have bought almost all of my guitars through Margurite's Music, because they setup the guitars before they are sold and they have free neck adjustments on guitars purchased there. But I got to see this guitar the day it arrived (strait out of the box). The action was supper low with no fret buzz. The Tremolo needed to be adjusted. The pickups needed to be adjusted a little, but were fairly well setup. I picked it up the next day after the guitar tech made the adjustments.
The only complaints I have are there is a small finish flaw on the bottom of the tremolo cavity. It looks like there is some air between the paint & the clear coat. Also the tremolo doesn't always go back to perfect pitch after using the tremolo. It will stay a little sharp or flat depending on how you used it. I think this will work itself out, plus maybe some graphite on the tremolo posts will help cure this.
Reliability/Durability
:
9
The guitar itself will withstand live playing. The neck and body are a tight fit. And the fretboard is not peeling away from the neck. The Liscensed Floyd Rose is a little suspect though. The metal seems to be of a lesser quality than an original Floyd Rose. Unfortunately I have only had it 3 weeks so it would be hard to say for sure how it would hold up.
Customer Support
:

I am happy with Jackson customer support. Although this guitar was about 3 months over due, Jackson responded to my e-mails about its delivery date in a timely polite fashion. However if I come across any problems with the guitar I will bring it to Margurite's Music first, but I do that with all of my guitars. So far I have not had any major problems (neck warping, bad trem routes, etc.). It has a Limited Lifetime warranty.
I am giving Jackson a 9 instead of a 10 because I have not yet had to deal with them about any product defects.
Overall Rating

I have been playing for about 10 years. I also own a Hamer Sun-Burst Archtop. I wish I would have known if the pickups were active, but they are the best import pickups I have ever heard. If this guitar was lost or stolen I would buy another one or the new DKMG (new for summer namm) which is very similar. I love the action and how flat the fretboard is. It is the lowest action of any guitar I have owned. I hate tone knobs I think they make a guitar sound terrible. My favorite features are the 24 fret neck and the 3-way strat type selector. I have compared this with some other import Jacksons and some Ibanez guitars in the same price catagorie. It is equal to and even better than some of them, especially the pickups.
