This guitar was manufactured in 1994 in Japan. It has 24 frets with offset dot inlays. The controls are a three-way selector switch with volume a push-pull pot(master coil tap) in the tone knob. It came equipped with Jackson passive pickups which I replaced with a SH-4 at the bridge and a SH-3 at the neck. The body is constructed of poplar with an eastern maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. It has a polyester finish. Obviously Dinky body style. Set bridge with string-through body. It came with deficient Jackson tuners which I replaced with Schaller tuners after the Jacksons fell apart. Thin "U" Jackson neck at a 25.5 scale. Came with a SKB hardshell case with Jackson/Charvel logo.

Sound : 9
I primarily play jazz and blues-inflected jazz. When I received this guitar I played metal. Guitar is bright; play through distortion and it will bite your head off. Presently my preferred setting is to play through the SH-3 with the coil split. Almost has that Strat sound, but has a purer signal than the single coils you'd find on a Strat. (I guess I'm trying to say a fuller sound with more low end frequency.) If I crank up the gain, sustain for days. Lots of tonal variety with the coil tap. I couldn't complain about the tone. Played through a variety of equipment, but at present running it through a Hughes and Kettner Attax 100 with no effects.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Action was good right out of the store. All hardware was set up correctly. Components were of low quality. Flawless finish. Neck and frets were great. Bought it new in 1995. Had to tweak the set up once (and this was with countless hours of playing time). Everything is still good.

Reliability/Durability : 10
With new components, everything is totally solid. This guitar will last longer than me, most likely. Airtight finish. Super dependable. But don't ever gig without a backup, dummy.

Customer Support : 5
Had a one year warrranty. Never needed it.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for 15 years. Own a few others, two BC Rich guitars, a couple Epiphones, a Danelectro and a Gibson Explorer '84 reissue. This was my first new guitar and I love it. It was manufactured almost as well as the US-made Jacksons of the time. It is an extremely versatile instrument and the low action and neck are great to play on. With new pickups, it takes on a much richer, fuller sound. It's fun to play. Good luck finding another one; only around 100 were made. I wish Jackson still made guitars like this.

Perfectly suited for Metal/Hardcore<p>I'm using Distortion, chorus, and Delay effects mostly into 2 Marshall 1/2 stacks. Due to construction such as direct mounted pickups, combonation of wood and String thru body this guitar has a full out monsterous sound. Straight forward Metal guitar, I especially like how it has the best aspects of a Les Paul and Strat wrapped up in one package.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar is at least 10 years old, and looks amazing. There are dings here and there, but paint is still intact and hardware has stood the test of time. All most all original. Action was great. Well balanced for extended playing. Beautiful paint.

Reliability/Durability : 10
