Sounds awesome for a 'budget guitar' i can get harmonics out easier with these cheap ass stock pups better than my KV3 with seymour duncan dimebucker. altho the sound quality just insn't the same as the dimebucker it is a good sound.
there isn't much negative to say about the sound apart from there isn't enough difference between the neck and bridge pickup as i would like.
but for the price range you can easily plug it into a boss mt-2 and a shitty litle practice amp and chugg along to old metallica or shred out some slayer and if you still sound shit then dont blame the guitar, its beacause you suck....but at least you look cool.

it was set up good out of the box altho i wish it came with a set of .10's rather than .9's but thats my personal taste nothing to do with the set-up so ill move on. the pickups were quite high but again thats how i like them so no problem there and if it was its fixed within 2 mins.
so i guess i was lucky because apart from personal taste to how my guitar is set up there was nothing wrong

ok this guitar is lighter than my KV3 so it tends to nose dive more than the KV3 but its no real problem. the volume knob like all jacksons tends to be in the way altho i never have problems with but i can see people who play differently to me having them so ill mention it. the strap buttons are solid but i use a locking strap anyway. i would and plan to play live with it and yes i would bring a back-up because of things like string breaks etc. but it does seem like a solid enough guitar to gig without if you havent got a back-up.

ok this guitar is made for metal like Slayer, In flames etc...
i play it straight into a marshall mg50dfx (i have no need for pedals) and it sounds excellent. ok the DD pups will have to be replaced at some point but for now they do their job better than any other stock pups i have played. the neck it totaly awesome you really have to try it yourself just to see how fast it is, killer for solos. the neck pup is shit distorted in my opinion but it has a very nice clean sound, its smooth and clear. the bridge is ok clean and very good distorted considering the price range. its nice for fast thrash riffs and solos.
im giving it a 9 because for the price its awesome and when the pups are changed you got yourself a top guitar
Action, Fit, & Finish

i had it set up at the shop so it was perfect when i got home. i adjusted the pups a bit higher just for my own taste and other than that there was no probs with the setup.

the input jack has come loose but it was no problem to fix and the volume knob could have been placed a bit better, but theres no real big problems just got to watch it a little if your thrashing hard. i have not gigged it yet but i plan to as soon as i put a a seymour duncan distortion or JB in it. its a very solid guitar and i have no doubt as to it not holding up a live show. but always bring a back up no matter what guitar yuou have.

Features: Great finish on this one. Gotta love the sharkfin inlays! The only drawback is that it can be a bit difficult playing a guitar like this sitting down-definitely not for the couch-ridden guitarist. Mine came with a hardshell case which are a huge pain in my ass. Great for protection during extended periods, but damn people, make a gig bag! Loved the fast, thin neck, and the tunamatic style bridge is great as well as I have no need for anything involving a whammy bar.

I like the sound I get out of this. I play pretty much all brands of metal, and this guitar works well for that genre. I run through an old Charvel amp with a DOD FX86 pedal for distortion, and this guitar handles it well. The only problems I've had have been regarding some bad cables, not the guitar.

I have no clue how the factory set up was, as I had the store I got it from give it a once over and a tune up before I took it off of their hands. Everything was set up fine when they turned it over though, so I have no complaints. There was supposed to be a flaw in the finish, as I got this a bit cheaper that way, but I don't notice it. I'll give it a 9 because there is a scratch somewhere.
Reliability/Durability
:
10
This one has held up well for the past two years. I RARELY if ever have to tune it, and the finish has remained bright and shiny, although I do give it an occasional polish for good measure. Strap buttons are solid. Don't play in a band at the moment, but I have given it quite a beating and it handles well with no problems whatsoever.

Well, I did get it straight from Jackson, via my local store, and the guy they worked with was able to get me one straight from the factory, albeit a blemished unsellable one (due to the aforementioned insignificant scratch). Otherwise I'd have had to wait a while because these were on backorder for like 4 months at the time.

I also own a KV-2, and this one is just as good. If you are looking for a relatively cheap, but still excellent quality guitar, go with this one. If you don't like the King V body, be sure to check out the rest of Jackson's X-Series. Affordable and durable, too bad they didn't sell the company to The Mouth Almighty!

This guitar is totally awesome. The 24 fret neck is very fast. The sharkfin inlays look awesome, but that's my opinion. The V body looks real cool, and its not real heavy. The tune o matic bridge is pretty cool, better than I expected. It stays in tune very well. It was built in Japan, so the quality is much nicer than the Indian ones. A reversed headstock wouldve looked really cool. The only thibg that really bothers me is where the input jack is. It is on the bottom fin and sticks out at a 90 degree angle. Its not a problem if you stand, but if you sit it jabs into your leg. I wish they would have made it flush with the top fin like the old Dave Mustaine models.
Sound
:

The sound is pretty good. The duncan designed pups arent bad for stock. The nech pup on a clean channel is very clear. I give it a 9.5. The bridge with distortion is ok, but better than most guitars in its price range. I give the bridge pup a 7.5. It just sounds a little muddy sometimes. Ill probably buy an SD Dimebucker for the bridge cause thatll rock, but Ill leave the neck pup alone. It sounds pretty good for metal, but the clean is very good.

The action was almost perfect for me. Its low, but not as low as my Ibanez was. Everything was set up very nicely. The only problem here was a small paint chip on the fin, but I think that came from GC because it hung about 2 inches above a stack of amps. But its real little and hardly noticable.
Reliability/Durability
:
10
This guitar is very high quality. The only problem is the paint chip I mentioned earlier. I'm not in a band but this guitar seems more then able to take abuse from live playing. The strap buttons are very solid. Just get a leather strap, it tends to nosedive a little bit, but the leather strap keeps it in place better.

Havent had to deal with them. So they get another 10 for very high quality. Rock on Jackson!

I've been playing about a year and a half. My other guitar is an Ibanez RG120. If this guitar were stolen, I would probably save up for a KV2 instead. Neck through, ebony board, OFR and other stuff like that that just won't come on a $400 guitar. I spent about 3 months searching for just the right guitar, and this is it.

Die-Cast tuners(stay in tune well enough), shark-Fin inlays(just make it look better serves no other purpose) , 24 fret(great for soling) , string thru body tunomatic bridge ( easy for drop tuning an dtuning back up ) alder wood (same as the jackson Randy Rhoads) body.
Duncan Design pickups.
remember this is a gutiar there is only so many features you can have on it and remember no every likes shark fin inlays so just because it's sharkfin inlay it means it's a good guitar. gutiars such as Ibanez are good to the bone they have excellent playabilty's on those thing but no shark fin it's just as good or even better.
Sound

the Duncandesign pickups on it sounds great. only problem was that the output wasn't loud enough for me. so there for i went out and brought two emg81's slap them on and waaala loud enough now.
other then that no dislikes at all
nothing is forever if u don't like the sound u can change it anytime . but the important thing is that you like the neck of the guitar.
and most importnatly if it sounds bad it's not the guitar or the amp , so do be blaming the guitar or the amp it's you that suck.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

step up to play rough and heavy rythem, not bad for soloing.
fits to play standing , light weight guitar u can run jump or do other "rockStar" moves that you do.
even tho the action was good i had to adjusted casue i solo like a mofo i lowered and adjusted the neck to to go with the lower action and now Waala again i got it perfect.
the neck on this beast is made for this guitar, i really cant' explaine to you, you have to go try one out for your self.

ummm guitars are meant for playing not being looked at like porno.
if you don't mind minor scratches or dents it's great guitar should last long (don't get me wrong the gutiar itself dont' come with any of those but people do consider scratches and dents gutiar's fault)

2) it looks cool if you don't
3) it sucks if you suck and you need something to blame it on

Made in India. fast, 24-fret neck with those killer jackson sharkfin inlays. one volume, one tone, and a 3-way selector control the two Duncan Designed HB-103 humbuckers (modeled after Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortions). The strings go thru the body and a tune-o-matic bridge, all the way up the ebony fingerboard on the maple neck to the Jackson tuning machines. i bought a black one at a guitar center green tag sale and they gave me a Jackson King V/Rhoads hardshell case. What a deal.

I play mostly metal and some rock and blues and this guitar suits me PERFECTLY. I run it through a Boss V-Wah and into my Peavey 5150 2X12 combo amp. IT rocks. The pickups sound extrememly fat and are very quiet. I replaced the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker, and it sounds even better (IF THAT'S POSSIBLE). I love the sound of this guitar.

Factory setup is great. Props to Jackson on this one. Action was nice and low, but not buzzy at all, finish was deep and dark, just how any black guitar should be. MY only conplaint is the deepness of the nut slots, but that's just personal preference, it doesn't affect the sound or playability at all because the shape at the bottom of each slot is perfect.

I've been playing for a year and a half and i have a 95 squier strat that i completely redid with a warmoth neck and an EMG-81 in the bridge and it still doesn't come close to my jackson. IF my King V were ever stolen, I'd kill whoever stole it and send their bones to the Jackson custom shop ao they could make me a new all-human-bone KVX10. I Love my JAckson and i STRONGLY reccommend that you go buy one right now. I only wish my jackson had a reverse headstock and black hardware to make it look even more NASTY then it already does. Other than that, IT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL AXE.

I bought this baby brand new. I haven't seen the KVX10 until 2001-2002; so I take it that its pretty damn recent. Its made in India. There are 24 frets, with 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way selector. The pickups are Duncan Designed by Seymour Duncan. this guitar has a bolt on neck, with a beautiful black finish and sharkfin inlays. The bridge is a tune-o-matic. Non-Locking tuners.

First of all, I play a hell of a lot of Megadeth. And this guitar is perfect for it. It sounds great for anything thrash metal or hard rock. I'm using the KVX10 with a Crate mx120r amp. The sound is amazing and you can do almost anything.

My amps a laney tf300. and use a boss mt2 metal zone and jim dunlop cry baby. this combination gives me one hell of a classic metal sound. i also have a epi les paul standard for a thicker tone but for thrash the jackson all the way

Basic Setup of 2 humbuckers, 1 vol, 1 tone, 3 way selector switch. Seymour Duncan P/U's. Jackson Tuners, 24 fret, sharkfin inlays, Bolt on neck, Classic Dave Mustaine King V shape body! Tune o matic bridge, chrome hardware. The shape rules, but the neck makes this catagory deserve a 10 rating however the basic setup does not offer any pointless features.

Great for playing metal, I suppose blues, Great clean sound on neck p/U, I use this with a Marshall JCM 50 and Marshall 4x12 (Built 1987 apparently the Model Slash used before signature Marshall!) and a Korg AX300g multi effects. Love this guitar, sounds like what I want to Play (Megadeth, Metallica sound. Full & Bright sound. Perfect for me.

Definately withstand live playing, but have another Jackson as Backup, Very solid guitar, Stays in tune after alot of punishment, finish seems very thick, Ive swapped the strap buttons for straplocks (Much recommended due to V shape and strap button positions) Probably would use it without a backup but Id definately take spare strings! just in case.

The only thing that slightly disappoints about this purchase is that it does not come with a hard case, it wont fit in a regular case, its too wide and needs a fitted King V case I guess. Definately buy it again if lost or stolen, If I get a pay rise I will probably buy the dearer model with a Floyd Rose and Silver grey finish, but love this guitar. Jackson quality is so reliable, this guitar is better than any PRS or ESP or vintage Gibson or Strat that I have ever played (and thats a lot!) amazing value, would actually consider paying more for it, great playability, great sound amazing look, Superb!
