Jackson King-V

features are simple, volume and tone knob, 3 way selector switch, floyd rose lockin trem, two stock humbuckers. i don't know what kind of wood its made of but its pretty light. has a bolt on neck and the inlays are dots not sharkfin(wich i really like because i can tell where im at on the neck alot easier than with the shark fins)

this guitar sounds kick ass!!!! i play through a marshall jmc 2000 tsl 100 and also through a behringer v-ampire (for all the effects stuff) and it sounds great through both.

some kid owned this guitar before me and tried re-wiring the pick-ups. he also stripped the locking nut and he painted it with lime green paint (what the hell!) luckily for me he sprayed on top of the original finish without any prep so i was able to get it off. i then procceded to re-finish it black with white orange and red flames. this guitar looks un-real now. also repalced the locking nut and re-wired the pickups back to the original. sounds great. action is cool.

this guitar is made to play. its a jackson for christ sake!

ive been playing for quite some time. im an old metal head from the 80s. ive got a les paul a strat and ibanez and now a jackson. the jacksons sound is definatly hevier that the others witch is what i wanted. i use the paul for rush type stuff, the strat for blackmore, malmsteen stuff, and the jackson for metallica, pantera type stuff. i usually play through my marshall direct (nothing beats a marshall) and the behringer for effects stuff (cathedral). the jackson can be played for all this, i just like changing guitars every once in a while. if it were stolen i would definatly buy another. although i would try to find a used one with the bolt on neck with dot inlays.

i think it made was made during the late 80's. came form japan, it has 22 frets, a volume and a tone knob, 3 way selector and a H/H configuration with a passive electronics. stock pickup(there a jackson logo near the bottom). the body is alder, with a maple neck and rose wood fret. the bridge is a floyd rose license with a locking nut. i would described the fret as thin and jumbo. came with a hard case.

im playing guitar for almost 8 years now. i started with guns and roses then ended up with metallica. i have a beringer amp, zoom gfx-4 and couple of stomp boxes. the pickups are actually descent, warm on the neck(with chorus on) and bright on the bridge. it screams, has crunch, and give good harmonics when im using the dod death metal distortion. i like this guitar because of its great playability. the neck feels comfortable. i could play fast legato runs without bothering the strings because ot its wide neck. though, this guitar is not for practice, because you have to put the lower wing between you legs and after something you get really tired of that.

i just set it myself. i bought it second hand. it took me a while to fix it to my preference. the action is low(youre finger pads will thank you for that), no buzz, etc. the guitar is in perfect order except for those nicks and scratches.

i gig this guitar once during a battle of the band, from where i came from, you dont see lots of guitar, so the moment i wear this guitar, it felt like there jaws drop!!!!! serve me well that night(we didnt won the contest......but i won the best guitarist!!!). it havent let me down, hasnt drop, look sturdy, can take years of playing, though i would abuse for practice a cheap guitar. i would consider bringing a backup(u never know).

i havent dealt with them yet(im glad). no sign of getting repair or giving a honorable dismissal.

ive been playing for 8 yrs, own a kramer focus 3000, ibanez rg 270 dx/rg 7620, washburn maverick series, and an ESP/LTD m150(piece of crap!!!!). i glad a bought it, no regret whatsoever!
if it stolen, i will curse that fckuinpiece of shit and beat the hell out of him! i love evething about this guitar, plays great and fast! i wish it would a better pickup like a dimebucker or a tone zone.

Cool guitar, but mine seems to have a problem with the hole where the jack plugs in... it kept coming loose but i fixed it...
You should get a gig bag for this guitar even if you dont play gigs, its for the sake of the V

I bought this guitar used so I don't know what year it was made, probably '90's. It has a rosewood, 22 fret, fretboard, two stock Jackson humbucker pick ups, dot inlay (no famous sharkfins), black hardware, Floyd Rose double locking trembolo. It's has a bolt-on neck. (Not sure what type of wood the guitar is made of.) It has one volume, one tone, and three-way pu selector. Body and neck are black.

As is, this guitar sounds great. The neck pickup produces a nice rich bluesy sound when played clean and with distortion. The bridge pick up is a little weak played clean but delivers a crunch when play with distortion. I use a Peavey Transtube Envoy 110 with an Ibanez Thrash Metal pedal. This guitar is excellent for '80's metal, thrash, or death metal. When I play Metalica or Megadeth, it sounds pretty close. Which is why I gave this a 9. The bridge pickup needs to be replaced with a Seymore Duncan or EMG before I can give it a 10

This is where I give a 10. The action is fast and close to the fret board (just the way I like it). Since I did buy this guitar use, there's some ware and tare. A couple of small paint chips at the points (but that's to be expected with a V-shaped guitar) There a little bit of fret buzz on the 1st and 2nd frets but with a little adjustment that can be worked out. But other than that the guitar it perfect (even used) Whoever had it before me took real good care of it.

This guitar is very reliable. It stays in tune. The body is solid. I've accidently bump it against the corners of the walls in my apartment and with no nicks or scratches. (But I wouldn't do that too many more times) the only problem I see with the finish are the fingerprints on a black finish. (about as visible as taking a black Camaro down a dirt road) but a little polishing takes care of that. I would definately gig with this guitar but not with out a backup (Just in case) No matter how perfect a guitar may seem, never gig without a backup.

I've never deal with Jackson so I can't comment on that.

Overall I give this guitar a 9. I woulda been 10 if it had a Seymore in the bridge. I play out of a Peavey Envoy 110 with a Ibanez Thrashmetal Pedal. I only own two guitars. My other one is a Yamaha SE250 and this Jackson V smokes the Yamaha in every way. I can get sweet pinch harmonics out of the Jackson that I had a hard time with using the Yamaha. If it would lost or stolen I would definately buy another. What do I hate about it??? No sharkfin inlays!!!!!!(but I can deal with it) If you ever some across this guitar but you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for, buy this guitar. The guitar will be crying instead of you. :)

2nd hand of ebay. Made in Japan. 22 frets. Solid top. 1 volume, 3-way switch, H/H Jackson humbuckers (replaced with passive Duncan Seymour humbuckers: TB4 (bridge) and SH6n (neck)). Body made of alder(?) neck maple with a rosewood fret board. Heavy guitar. Finish, reflective black. The body style is the most aggressive V-shape I have ever seen. The bridge is a Jackson Floyd. Came with Kahler locking nuts. No shark fin inlay - good, as it makes the guitar look more serious. King V shape attracts enough attention. Has every thing I need - I wouldn't want more. It is uncomplicated and you wouldn't buy it for features unless you were blind and a bit stupid.

I play heavy metal. My influences are the voices and sounds in my head, Chris Haskett, Mutaine, Nuno etc...
The Seymours are great but I won't go into that. Acoustically this guitar is great. Very nice tone, resonates very well. I practice accoustically very often as it really does sound very nice. I am very happy with this guitar's sound.

2nd hand. Action was very low. Set up was fine. Trem correctly set. The string gauge was too light. I like 10s and prefer the action relatively high. Changing the gauge of yours strings affects the trem but an afternoon of fiddling was all it took to achieve a level trem, perfect action with no fret buzz.

Finish is excellent. On a par with USA models. Wings have small chips but that is to be expected.

The frets are excellent. I don't know the previous life of the guitar but it is in great shape. I took it appart, gave it a good clean and oiled the frets. The tone changed conciderably for the better. Good set up = good tone = fun to play.

It will withstand hard playing. Hardware will last. Finish has/will last. Strap buttons ok. Nice and tough. I'll just say 'tips'

I have been playing 1 year. I have a classic guitar. I have fallen in love with tis guitar - being my first electric. I have played others but this feels really good. I can be played very comfortably sitting down - the V on the thigh with the strap on (pun not intended) - lying down, semi lying down in front of the tely on the bed, on the loo. Hangs better off the body than a gibson flying V, easier to play and more comfortable. I love the fast neck. The only complaint is that the body is heavy but this makes for good tone. If it were stolen or lost I would cut my wrists and buy another (if I could find one) or a kelly. I love it and I'm the only one who has to.

I'm a metal player -- this instrument fits the bill in virtually every way. First of all, it presents an attitude before you strap it on. I have an attraction to guitars that look like medieval weapons. You can put hotter pick-ups on it, but the standards PUs have awesome tone themselves. Big tone for such a small feeling guitar. This guitar is NOT for players that are going to include alt. rock or bluesy songs in their setlist -- its rock-out-with-your-cock-out 100%.

I bought this one used so I don't know how they were shipped. My guitar tech set it up and the thing played itself. Had a problem with the volume knob wiring which was easily repaired.

Built to beat on. Worthy of the Jackson name. Bash it over someone's head and keep playing it. It never went out of tune, and I'm one note bending lunatic.

No warranty, not sure how Jackson would assist a customer. I did send them an email requesting a date on the instrument based on its serial number but got no reply ... I guess they don't keep track of the foreign models, or they simply don't care about them.

Been playing off and on for 18 years. I never regretted buying my Jackson King V Standard Professional model -- had to sell it to afford a sweeter ax (another story...). Its best feature is its tone and looks. The only negative element about owning any V shaped instrument is the inability to practice while seated. Also, the fretboard had dot inlays instead of the famous shark fins -- sort of a bummer but not a big deal....

1994 Jackson King V Std Professional (made in Japan). 22 frets, mahogany? neck, poplar? body, rosewood fretboard, Floyd Rose licensed tremolo. Black body, headstock, hardware. It has one volume and a 3-way pu selector. Two passive humbuckers, both made by Jackson (not sure of models).

This guitar sounds great for 80s metal, awesome through a Marshall. I play it with a JCM900 2500 and DOD icebox and Boss Delay. There is some buzzing when the bridge pickup is turned up all the way, but it's probably just electronic interference. Has a nice warm tone, probably due to the mahogany neck.

I bought it used, so I can't comment on the factory conditions, but everything was adjusted perfectly for my style. Nice low action, and great feel. The points were missing some paint, but that is very common on used "pointy" guitars.

I've had it for about a year now, and it has held up very nicely. I'd use it without a backup guitar, but sometimes I do get a little over zealous with the trem and break a string.

No warranty with a used guitar. The only time I contacted Jackson was to find out what year it was made, which they replied by email promptly.

This guitar is great for playing 80s metal (megadeth, metallica, slayer, etc.) and if I lost it or it was stolen I would definitely buy another Jackson. The only thing I could do without on this guitar is the Floyd Rose, as it takes forever to tune after putting new strings on, but then again that's really not a problem with the guitar. And for $280, who could complain?

Unbelievable,..I never heard a better clean sound coming from a
neck-P'up than in this guitar. First time I plugged it in my own
rig (hafler Triple Giant/Rocktron Intellifex Online/thru the
return of a Rocktron Piranha for the DI -at the moment not in a
band so no poweramp/speaker impression-) I wanted to cry...
Ever had your heart broken,..then you know what I felt =)

I did have to change the bridge P'up -it sounded too hollow and
thin for my taste and was corroded- to a Seymour Duncan Custom custom
(TB-11) the sound in the bridge has improved alot

Overall it's not as heavy sounding as my EMG loaded
Ibanez (I can see you thinking and shaking your head but don't worry,
I don't do "modern" metal)it's not a real bright either, even though
there's alot of wood missing

For a Metal-Axe look I'd say it has more depth than ppl may realize
it may not be a wolf in sheep's clothing but saying the other way around isn't correct either, maybe it's a wolf with a gentle side OR
a sheep with an attitude!!!!

as for it's factory design, I only dislike the toggleswitch position
because the trem arm hangs over it
and the square edges give me painfull ribs =)
it was bought used so the reliability is where to look for comments
on these things

when plugged in OK so it's head-heavy, I knew that before I bought it, live with it or never buy one!

My guess is it's around 8-10 years old and seems to have seen
enuff action, as for the condition it is now
the trem is worn out,finetuneing/saddles/knives/pivotstuds
already have a replacement but need to fix a problem with the
studinserts coming out
Not only the trem but some frets (13/14/15th) have been abused by bending so much that the action had to be raised to prevent the tones
from going dead so that needs to be fixed too
I knew it was a fix-her-upper when I bought but I guess it's gonna cost me 500$ extra to get it in top condition (partly already spend,
expensive things like refret and trem fix/setup are gonna cost the
most,..Hell, it's worth it!)
the neck/body/finish has no flaws whatsoever, neck is still straight
the body and finish were damaged at the tips of the wings in a way
you would even see it on a clear finish body so...
already replaced the switch 'cause it was corroded and giving
interference, the volumepot is stil ok, no noises, the bridge P'up
was corroded (but now is replaced)
It's still great to play on and I would have no problem using it live
as it is now 'cause I see no reason why it would crap out on me
this thing can handle quite some abuse.
Being worn out on hardware it does lose a few points but that's
understandable

it's a guitar made for hanging, as well as on you as in a stand/on the wall,.. you can sit with it on your lap but it would be
uncomfortable, you could place it on it's wings on the floor but it
could (WOULD!!!!) damage
And let's not forget it's made to PLAY not to look at (but if that
were true why wouldn't there be just ONE model guitar =)

It's a jackson and after buying my first (and first guitar ever)
I fell in love, but I did not know that untill it was gone
Fixing up this one will finally ease my Contious and stop me from
waking up with tears in my eyes
Maybe sentiment is clouding my judgement but it's still a damn fine
guitar, easily as good as the Ibanez and ESP(ltd) guitars
gets a 9 because it's not a High-quality guitar (but then you would
pay a "High-quality-price" right)

It's a 1988 USA made King V. 24 frets, kneck through construction with binding on the kneck and headstock. It has 2 humbuckers and a 3 way switch (bridge, both, kneck). It has a volume for each pickup (2) and a tone knob. The two pickups are both Jackson (J-50N kneck, J-80 brigde). The body is made out of poplar. The paintjob is just gloss black with the back of the kneck also painted and black hardware. It has a jt-6 floyd rose bridge (double locking with the fine tuners on the end, not on the top). The tuners are Jackson tuners. The scale is 25.5" with the typical Jackson jumbo frets. It came with the typical HUGE Jackson hardshell case.

This guitar rulz!!! With the bridge pickup, I get a nice bright thrashy rythym tone. When I flip to the kneck pickup I get this real smooth with a bite tone. I remember playing it in the music store with a Blue Voodoo and some of the Fender strat people were squirming cuz the tone was just perfect for blues. It's not real noisy for having 12 year old pickups. The kneck pickup just really gets me goin for soloing and clean stuff. You can go from thrash to blues soloing with just the flip of a switch (and your distortion pedal).

I got it used and it was kinda beat up and not well adjusted. First off I needed to replace the floating intonation/carriage holding nuts in the bridge as 3 were missing. The kneck had a slight bow so I needed to adjust the truss rod and now its pretty straight. I now have the action at about 1/8" and there is not much fret buzz at all. I'm sure that if I had the kneck professionally straightened and had it refretted I could go lower. The guitar had a few small nicks in it that I touched up with some black paint and a paintbrush. From like 3 feet this thing looks like new. It's gloss black with all black hardware. I also had to adjust the bridge pickup a touch closer to the strings to make it sound better. Since it is 12 years old, and since I fixed it up for a whopping $10.42 I have to give it a 9.

This guitar rulz. I have only broken 1 string and that was because the tech I took it to to have the nut looked at tuned it to E# instead of E. This guitar is 100% reliable. I would take it to a show and play it and then take it to another show and play it there, too. This thing can take abuse and keep on goin!!!

I've been playing for 1.5 years. This guitar RULZ!!! For the price I payed, this guitar was very worth it. I would probably even pay as much as $800 for this exact guitar. It just rulz. If you're thinking about getting a King V, don't wait any longer!!! These guitars sound superb, play great, are durable as heck, and if you take care of them will last a long time.
