1998 USA Rhoads with LTG-finish (lightning sky), '98-made should be poplar.
Basically every feature like the ones described below.
The jack-input is on the inner side of the upperwing, wich makes it comfortable playing (wich was not the case with its cheap sister, the PS3)
I've replaced the SD TB4 with the Seymour Duncan Custom (SH5), giving it a better overdrive sound (more mids, more gain), better for soloing. The Jazz-neck makes a great combination.

Sound : 10
I play metal with it and I try to do some shredding.
Of course, the looks make it a 'metal'-guitar but soundwise it's capable to everything, except for some twangy C&W...
The warm sound makes it good for jazzy stuff too, but might be a little ridiculous sight (hmm, maybe the real jazzers are excentric enough not to mind the shape, so..?)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
great, no complaints about the set-up.
The finish is awesome. I've always wanted a lightning sky Rhoads, and on a holliday to Andorra, I came across the most beautiful looking lightning-finish I had ever seen! Better than the ones they use in their catalogues, can you believe that?
The neck is smooth, rather fast but since it's neck-through, not so thin as the speedneck of my Dinky. I'd prefer it a little thinner but hey, it's probably for a reason it's this size. But like I said, very smooth and not worth nagging about it! Shame on me!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
top-quality hardware, no complaints yet, and I have it for over 3 years so...

Customer Support : No Opinion
dunno, but I think they might be too busy to help you right away

Overall Rating : 10
been playing for over 9 years, the PS3 was my first contact with jackson but the two are beyond comparisation.
It's such a comfortable guitar for playing (standing) with it.
I'd love to have a RR1T too, so yes I'd buy one again if it were stolen , but I doubt finding such a nice paintjob again. The flightcase is somewhat clumsy unfortunately..

2004 Jackson RR1 with EMG 81 and 85. Flamed body. Great look. Floyd Rose double locking tremeolo.

Sound : 8
The RR1 is intended for hard rock and metal, and, especially, for soloing. It does a superb job for solos, riffs and palm-muted power chord. Don't even try to finger pick this guitar due to the shape of the body; it does not ring like a Les Paul or Fender. I currently own 7 electric guitars ( and have owned at least 25 different kinds), and I would say that when it comes to Hard Rock and Metal, this guitar is "IT". The RR1 feels so comfortable and gives lightning access on the fingerboard. The EMG 81 and 85 are fine, I tend to like the 85 neck pickup better than the 81. I also own the Ibanez JEM and Satriani Model. I personally think that if you play instrumental rock, the Ibanez JS1000 is the best guitar ever made for it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is "PERFECT". Take my advice, get a tech to get it right.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
No problem yet.

Mine is a RR1 USA(not shure about the year) loded with: EMG-60 in neck position(Hetfield's choice) and EMG-81 (Hammet's one)in bridge. Bridge is Schaller Germany double locking trem(best choise for me). It's unbeliable I found the exactly specs I most desire in a guitar from a used guitar! And here in ARGENTINA! Think shoud be the hand of God!(Metal God ; ).
I'd like to remark three facts of the shape of this unique guitar:
1) You'll find yourself playing at 20th fret without noticeing that(first impresion on this guitar is the incredible acces to highest frets).
2) Unless you manage to do anything else, this guitar is to be played stand.
3) The larger horn has the tendence to hit anything on its way!
Conclusion: Fact number one Beats two and three!! Superb playability at highest frets is a killer and distinctive feature on this guitar!!
If you ask me what features should include your IDEAL of a perfect guitar I'll Say: Take a look a the RR1:
* Neck thru body construction.
* Woods? alder, maple & ebony(aah, that smell when u open the hard shell case!).
* 22 or 24 Frets?? How ofte u play there? Ask Malmsteen (his strat has 21!!).
* Floyd Rose! (I prefer Schaller). Consider that at the moment Mr Rhoads died, this trems didn't exist.
* Body Shape? Believe me, incredible confortable axe! I was reluctant in the beginig, before I hanged one on me. Aaah, it looks killer also!
* Neck? "LSC": Light Speed Confort.
* Pickups? This baby deserbes active! EMGs RULE!(personal taste)

Sound : No Opinion
For all those METAL HARTS

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Used guitar, new frets needed. I suited Dumlop 6000(HUGE, almost scalloped feel). Agee with the low action and incredible playability of the other guys comments.

I have a 1998 marshall G80.The pickups suits my stile.I play mostley Metal and rock'n roll (ac/dc,iron maiden, kiss, ozzy). The jazz humbucker is very warm and clean. The distorsion humbucker gives a classic metal sound. To mix thoose two gives me allot of sound ween I play Randy Rhoads solos and Iron maiden

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It was a gift but I know it was from ebay. The action could be a little lower but still its fast. The finish is snow white. She fitts me good

This is a BRAND NEW RR1. Made in the U.S., 22 frets, floyd rose, extremely smooth ebony fretboard, and decent pickups.

Sound : 8
The pickups are a little bit to fuzzy for me. I need something with a cleaner, more crisp tone. I use it with a Line 6, but thats probably half the problem right there. It makes every guitar sound the same. On the higher frets, this guitar sounds good, but for rythm, it needs something else.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Factory set up was perfect. absolutely no problems with buzzing or anything like that. No visible flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is built like a brick. The original Floyd Rose system,neck-thru construction, it will definetely withstand live playing. Enormous strap buttons, so you know it's not gonna fall off.

Customer Support : No Opinion
It's brand new, hopefully Ii never have to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for 5 years, and more alot more guitars than I should. I havemy 3 favorites, but they are all unique, and it's impossible to choose a favorite. My RR1 has the whammy bar, my Gibson is just kick-ass, and my YJM strat, look at my review. I liked this guitar, because unlike other explorer type shapes, it wasn't top heavy, and balances itself. If it were lost I would probably get another one, the only negative is the wait for one of these. I wish it had better pickups. I'm thinking about either emg's or seymour duncan shredmasters.

Jackson USA made RR1, floyd rose equipped, beutiful sunburst finish, don't know the year.
came with a huge case! and the tool nesessary to make adjustments and change strings.
22 frets (good enough for me)
i wish it had two volume controls instead of two tone controls cause i like to use that stuttering ffect alot.
also think it would look better with gold hardware instead of chrome
great action

Sound : 10
love the sound it's crisp and clear with an airy quality to it. it also very bright sounding, straight to a tube amp it sounds beutiful, great clean tone, and the distorted tone is great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
as i said before i wish it had gold hardware, but the chrome is pretty good. great action. the tuners could use some improvement. i put the bridge (lead) pickup a bit higher

Reliability/Durability : 10
seems pretty good, i'll just have to wait and see.

Customer Support : No Opinion

if stolen i'd hunt down the son of a bitch who sold it and take it from there

Made in USA in 1998, 22 frets, 2 Hum (Seymour Duncan Jazz in neck and Seymour Duncan JB trembucker at the bridge). 1 volume and 2 tone controls with a 3 way pickup selector switch. Maple neckthrough with alder wings and ebony fretboard with mother of pearl sharkfin inlays. Original Floyd Rose trem, jumbo frets and Jackson tuners. Metallic black (MBK) finish.

Sound : 9
I play death metal and it is great for that. Only thing I would do is think about replacing the Duncan JB with a hotter pickup in the bridge, a Duncan Invader or EMG 81 for a heavier sound. Love the jumbo frets!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Bought it used and I set it up so it was set up fine for me.

Reliability/Durability : 10
My main guitar of my 3 USA Jacksons, no problems with using this live. You have to have a backup with any Floyd Rose loaded guitar.

Customer Support : 10
Some have complained about customer support from Jackson, but I've had nothing but great dealings with Jackson support.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 16 years and own 2 more USA Jacksons (fusion custom and sl1) and some import guitars and this is my favorite one.
If it were stolen I'd hunt the person down, exact my revenge and then buy another one. Gotta love the jumbo frets!! USA made Jacksons are the best made guitars in the world nothing else compares to them.

JAckson RR-1 made in 2001. 22 frets. H/H pickups. Seymour Duncan passive SH-2 and TB-4. Controls are 1 master volume, 2 tones, 3-way gibson pickups selection. Body is alder and fingerboard is ebony. Finish is Black w/gold pinstripes. (looks aweome!) Bodystyle off-set V. Bridge is Original Foyd Rose. Fast neck w/jumbo frets. Came with huge case and some tools and wammy bar.

Sound : 9
Mostly I play Ozzy and Sinergy and Children of Bodom. And it sounds great in heavy metal. I'm using 1968 Fender Super Reverb amp. Effects are Rat distortion pedal, Danelectro flanger, and Korg A5. The pickups sounds great. Maybe I'm gonna change those for EMG's to get little bit heavier sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Guitar was set-upped good. Action was perfect. No complaining about paint work.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The hardware of this guitar seems to be strong. But I wouldn't use it in gig without backup since it has Floyd Rose.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Warranty is five years.

I have been playing about eight years and it's my firts Jackson. If it got stolen I would buy it again for sure. Only thing I wish it had is 24 frets.
