great features...2 tone, 2 volume, easy action...and hot looking serpentdesign. made in china. walnut finish, mahogany neck, gold hardware with cream pickguard/binding. standard tuno-matic bridge etc. tuners are this guitars weakness...i bend 'em and play hard...really need locking machines on this.

Sound : 10
sounds clean, bright and when u need some depth i can rely on this guitar. no noise and sound is full..really no dislikes on this..of course i play oit through a digitech rp300 and get A VARIETY OF SOUNDS BUT ALWAYS CLEAN

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
nOT ONE PROBLEM..I have read several other reviews that the inlays and finish on them are so-so..All I can say is that I must have benn luck because mine looks great! The serpent is perfect, NO filler, screws all tight nothing bad here!

Reliability/Durability : 9
I use this as my primary guitar, my les paul, washburn has taken a back seat! The action and sound is as good as all my other guitars..go figure...The Les Paul is great and will always be the king but considering the price?.....This is just as good in every way

Customer Support : No Opinion
Cant say, havent need to deal with them

Overall Rating : 9
I have played for over 40 years owning everything from Gibsons to Ovations, Guilds, Martins and washburns. For the price, even if it was hundreds more, this is a great guitar. I only have 1 complaint, that is the tuners which I will replace with locking Grovers, Sperzels, schallers or DiMarzio's...TBD

I have a 2003 model JT-200 Serpentine, That is Black with Gold Hardware. I gave $200 for it on an online store in March of 2003, and I decided to wait a few months before I posted a review, so I could learn a little about this guitar first. It has 22 frets, with two volume, and two tone knobs, and a three-way selector switch. It has the same configuration as a Les Paul Custom, with two humbuckers. I have played about every Paul Copy around, and, if you are looking, this is the best bang for the buck! It is NOT a Gibson Les Paul... but it's better than about every copy out there, and it is EYE CANDY!
If you have played them, to me, it is better than the Epiphone Les Paul Custom, about the same quality as the Epiphone Elite Les Paul Custom. You have to figure, though, the Elite costs around $1000... I gave $228 for this one INCLUDING SHIPPING!!! WITH the Serpent neck!!!

Sound : 10
I play in an origionals band, that plays "Southern Metal", and I also play for a country band. My musical tastes vary, from Hard Rock to Bluegrass, so I need guitars that are versatile. I currently play an Alvarez-Yairi DY-45 acoustic; I have two Fender Thinline Telecasters (The Semi-Hollow-Bodied models)- one is a 1969 reissue, and the other is a 1972 re-issue; I have this Jay Turser Les Paul Serpent; I have a Fender Bass; I have a Dean Jr. Acoustic half-scale; and I have a Fender "A"style Mandolin, and a 1968 Checkmate Banjo.
I play through a Marshall solid state amp, and a 1949 model 20-watt "No-Name" tube amp, and sometimes use a Digitech RP-50 effects unit.
When it comes to the Jay Turser, nothing I have compares... It has a very clear, Clean sound. The double-humbuckers Shine when I'm playing through my tube amp-- They can drive that amp very well-- just like a Gibson. I have a best friend with a Les Paul Studio, and we BOTH have decided that my Turser has HOTTER pickups than his LP!!!!
I have had no noise from these pickups, and they have good feedback response.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar came out of the box set up well. However, I took it to my guitar specialist, and it is even BETTER!!! I currently play Gibson Les Paul "Dicky Betts" model strings, which are 8/38's. I usually playy 10/48's on an electric, so this is a little different to me -- which is a GOOD thing. If you are interested, try electric strings on your acoustic-- I use D'Addario XL110's, 11/48's (Nickel round wound, with a wound 3rd) on mine. Those 11's play like 9's and sound like phosphor/bronze.
The guitar had absolutely PERFECT looks. Still, to this day, the Gold shines, the Pearl is beautiful, and the action is Super-Low! If there is any ONE Thing that was wrong with this guitar, I had to tighten the pickguard screw when I first bought it (BIG DEAL!!!).
Am I supposed to complain, or something?

Reliability/Durability : 10
I DO Depend on this Guitar!!! I have other guitars, but we also have other people playing "Drums" on their tables at the bars, too -- that doesn't mean we have a back-up drummer!
It'll last.

Customer Support : 10
It has a "Limited Lifetime warranty"...
How long am I gonna live???

I beleive this is a 2001 LP Serp by Jay Turser. I've read the other reviews about this guitar. At this site and others. First of all...to those who praise this guitar...please review this when you're sober or out of rehab. Hey, I agree the inlay work looks great!!! On a screen from across the room!!!!!! A closer inspection will reveal $2.50 an hour labor. Please read on. I won't slam it all in this category. Oh...the features are all cosmetic. Everything looks great...from a distance. There's this incredible cheap feel to everything about this guitar....it's hard to explain...kinda like when your parents buy an electric guitar for your 13th birthday...you tear open the gift wrap! And you find a SEARs or JC Penney guitar!!! Maybe that's why I currently supplement emotional happiness with guitars? hmmmm

Sound : 5
Maybe I should start by saying that I am an owner of many Gibson Les Pauls. I can't stand the sound of the crap that Gibson ships in their Standards on down. I am a Seymour Duncan fan. I think I've personally paid the Duncan's mortgage for half the year of 2002. Every guitar I have (currently at 55) has Duncan pickups. So don't use this rant as a "sound" review. I am a Drop A and Drop C player. Heavy is good with the right guitar(s). I plugged this into my amp. No...not a Peavey or a Randall. It's a Hughes & Kettner Tri-Amp half stack with a VHT Fatt Bottom Sub. The clean channel made this guitar sound like a factory Gibson Studio LP...warm and muddy!. As soon as I jumped to the "B" overdrive I knew this would set the tone to post a review. NOTHING BUT FEEDBACK. Clearly the Turser's made a deal with a country violating child-labor laws when it comes to building pickups. I removed the cheap strings to get to the cheap screws that held down the cheap plastic pickup mounts. Inspected the pickups...YES! Pure crap barely nesting in a crappy mount. Oh, if you try this at home, please be very careful not to strip out the extremely cheap screws that hold this model together. I give this a 5 for "clean" sound at a low volume. A MINUS 10 for any distortion application. WAIT! I do not use any distortion pedals...just the amps distortion...assisted by L6L Sovtek tubes. I honestly believe this guitar would sound worse thru any pedal.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The guitar was pretty much ready to go. No fret buzz, decent string height , and in tune. A close inspection of the finish and "fit" will say it all. I would love to debate this guitar in a public forum with anyone who worked for Turser. You should be ashamed! I can't believe these are selling on Ebay and retailing for $250+.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I would never tune this down and attempt to play it as aggressively as I play my real LPs. I know it would snap in half...and shatte into thousands of tiny chips as it hits the ground. Every inch of this guitar screams CHEAP! From the gold-tone cast strap buttons to the soft metal frets. If you sit in a soft chair and play at a low volume...this is the perfect guitar for you. NOT PORCH, GIG, or ROAD ready.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never called to vent. Do they have a customer service number? I hope Turser is smart in this area....and has a customer service PO Box in Kansas.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
If you've paid more than $100 on Ebay or retail. Inquire about getting a refund. I can't believe these people who pay $325+ come here and review this model. I dropped $100 to help out an unemployed friend. I bought it sight-unseen. Maybe it's justification...maybe it's online therapy to make them feel better. Whatever it is....it's wrong to decieve. Here's my advice...go to a decent music store and ask to play a LP Custom or any guitar in the $1000 + range. Use this experience as a benchmark to gauge other guitars. I know not everyone can afford a real LP...but try Epiphones or the old Vintage Electras, Ibanez or even the Crestlines. You may find a quality treasure for under $200. Here's an insider secret: AGILE Les Paul Copy - Under $300 and they're beautiful.

Oh, I am dumping this guitar on Ebay as soon as I can. So please beware!!!! You've been warned!

Made in China in 2001. 22 Fret Antique Sunburst Solid Body LP Copy with a snake inlay on the fretbaord. Some minor blemishes in the finish, but you have to really look for them. While purchasing the guitar, several other individuals inquired about availability of more but... I got the last one. Playability is very good, and I have yet to find an amp it doesn't sound good through. Well built and definately worth the price!!! The shop I got it from set it up as I waited, and I am very impressed by it. Two each volume and tone controls with the LP pick up selector set up. I got a SKB Les Paul case for it.

Sound : 10
The controls are smooth with a wide control range (volume and tone for each pick up). Bright smooth, responsive sound that plays well on any tube type I have tried (Fender, Marshall, Trace-Elliot, Mesa, Carvin, and a few others). I have Classical Guitars, Gretsch 6120's, and this guitar rounds out the sound signatures for the "Surf/60's rock style.
Likes: Many
Dislikes: None at this time...
Typical Amp: Trace Elliot Tramp Super Twin

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Other than a couple of very minor flaws in the finish (you need to look very closely to even see them), this guitar compares well with any other guitar I looked at with considerably lower cost. For anyone who complains about the make, etc. I would like to have them do a blind(er) test against any simular design. Low action, great fit and overall excellent finish.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar takes my abuse easily, and seems to bounce back for more. The hardware appears to be long lasting as does the finish. The strap buttons are very solid although I am thinking of replaceing them with the Gretsch Style (My quirk not the guitars). I would rely on this guitar as much as I would my Gretsch or any others. Sometimes cost is not indicative of worth...

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had the need to explore this aspect yet, and honestly think this will not be of any real consideration.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing at the guitar for 5 years, mostly classical. I tired of the snobbery in too many cases with that genre, so returned to my country roots (Gretsch 6120-60) and fell in love with that guitar. During a visit to one of my favorite guitar shops I saw this guitar, and dang Walt's hide, he gave me a price I couldn't refuse. Thank God for that, as this guitar is really fun and sounds great even with my poor technique... If it were lost or stolen I would definately try to get another one. I love this guitar becuse it is solid, and the basic features on it are as well. I did take this guitar to a shop with Gibson Les Pauls, only to have several persons comment how high quality that Gibson LP sound was. They almost fell over when they saw it wasn't a Gibson, and in fact were really embarrased when they found out what I paid.

The only other thing to share is this: Try it... you'll like it. Do a blind test (Blinders on and someone handing you the guitar so you don't know what it is) along with Gibson LP's or any other make and the proof will be in the pudding my friends.

Made in China in 2000. 22 Fret Red Solid body LP Copy with a snake inlaid on the fretbaord. Just a little sloppy aroung the coils but not really that bad. Other that that the finish is beautiful. This guitar is also well built, or at least it seems to be. 1 correction on the review I made on the other 200C. It is a 200P (Purple) that until I got it in some sunlight I didn't notice. This one is Red. Very fast neck with low action. The guy I bought it for set it up and seems to know what it's all about. No acces. with this guitar but I will get a good case for both of them.

Sound : 10
Right now I only have a Yahama 10 watt practice amp. When I get a good amp with this guitar I'm sure I'll be even more impressed. It has t 2 way switch and with a good amp and different setting, WOW

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Like I said the Guy I bought it form set it up, exchange 1 P/U but sent me the orig. Only flaw I can find is on the coils on the serpintine inlays but I can live with them. Will only deduct 2 for this.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Don't know yet but from what I've read and heard they are very well built. Time will tell.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Unknown but they do have a liftime warrentee. Have no idea how to contact and since I didn't go through a dealer I doubt they will do mucn for me. Hopefuly I will never have to find out.
