Features : 7
Finish- transparent light blue

Body- 3 peice, similar to an ibanez S shape. I've been told it's made out of poplar, swamp ash, or basswood... I still haven't found out.

Neck- 25 1/2" scale, bolt on maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets.

Bridge- fixed stratocaster style bridge

Electronics- Two humbuckers, one volume, one tone, 3 way pickup toggle

Sound : 3
This guitar is EXTREMELY bassy and muddy. I find myself putting the bass level on my amp at 2 ( with all of my other guitars I put it at 10 )which still sounds muddy. At first I thought the pickups just had a huge lack of treble so I replaced the bridge pickup with a Dimarzio EVO 7. That didn't get rid of problem. So now I'm assuming the wood is to blame for this horendous amount of bass. The only thing good about the sound is the sustain.

I don't know what the setup was like from the factory because I bought it used. Whoever had it last put on really heavey gauged strings and raised the action really high. After buying a new set of strings and lowering the action, it was flawless. I can honestly say that this guitar has one of the best actions I've ever played. The volume and tone pots, however, didn't work quite well. The volume knob had only two settings, on and off. There was no gradual volume reduction at all. The same thing goes for the tone knob. Luckily I had a few extra pots to replace them. The hardware, however, seemed to be of nice quality.

The intonation wasn't set up very well either. It was in fact very easy to adjust which is why I love those stratocaster style bridges.
My only complaint about the intonation is that I couldn't move the low B saddle far enough to be properly intonated. This might be because the bridge was placed too close to the neck. A longer scale might have been better because the strings didn't have too much tension, but atleast they never buzzed.

Another thing in particular that I couldn't stand was the cutaway. It is extremeley small and very inhibiting. It was so bad that I literally cut it off. It may look ugly now but atleast it plays 10 times smoother.

Becuase of the poor sound quality of this guitar, I don't have much sentimental value towards it. Therefore, I treat it like crap and drop it all the time. I'll have to say it puts up quite well. It's a very trust worthy guitar so I'd definately gig with it ( if I didn't mind the sound quality ).

I still can't even find this guitar anywhere online so I know almost nothing about it. I plan on contacting Jay Turser to see if they can give me the specs and what not.

I only paid $200 dollars for this guitar so it was worth it considering it was my first 7 string.

I play all of my guitars through a B-52 At-100 amp with a mxr 10-band EQ. I tried playing my friend's Schecter gryphon 7 through my rig and it sounds amazing. Almost any other 7 string guitar puts the Jay Turser to shame in sound quality. However, I've yet to find a 7 string with better action.

I'm actually thinking about buying a mahogany body for it because I love the neck and action so much that I don't feel it's worth buying a different guitar.

This is a 2000 model, made in China. It's a basic replica of the Ibanez S-series thin bodied guitars. 24 fret rosewood fretboard with a maple neck and a poplar body (so I'm told). The finish is a beautiful orange/red honeyburst. This guitar is equipped with two humbuckers with a 3 way selector. It has a fixed bridge, Stratocaster shaped headstock, chrome volume and tone knobs, chrome bridge and tuners and black pickup plates. The frets appear to be jumbo.

I play progressive rock. I play this amp through a Line 6 Flextone, primarily on the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier setting. This guitar, with the stock pickups, lacks treble. I'm going to replace the pickups. I'm starting with the bridge. I will replace it with a Dimarzio Tone Zone. I will replace the neck with an Air Norton (if I can confirm that Dimarzio makes one for seven strings). I don't like the position of the pickup selector. It is placed between the volume and tone knobs. I'm toying with the idea of moving the pu selector to where the volume knob and moving the volume knob to where the pu selector is. My only problem with this is that the volume knob would then be a little too distant. But I think that would be a better compromise for me since I usually use a volume pedal when playing live. This guitar was setup great from the factory although I question the way the pickup heights relative to the strings. To me (and I'm no expert here) it appears that the neck pickup should be closer to the strings. They also have the bridge pu positioned so that it is farther away from the seventh string. This is probably to keep the sound from getting muddy....... The headstock is not tilted, It's very straight. I'd prefer a tilt in the headstock. This would give the guitar more sustain. But then again, I haven't noticed a sustain problem with this guitar......This guitar looks and plays like a $1000 dollar Ibanez. And believe me, I've owned $1000 Ibanez's. The only differences are the pickups and the lack of an all access neck joint that all the upper end Ibanez's are equipped with. Still I can access the 22nd fret of the 1st string without a problem. I do have a difficulty reaching the 24th fret but I rarely need these notes.

The finish is flawless. Again, one could easily mistake this guitar for a more expensive guitar. Who could believe that it only cost me $200? I can't see any places where they cut corners. The action was was perfect and I didn't notice in intonation problems from the factory.

This guitar seems to be very reliable. It stays in tune very well. I would play it without a backup.......

I bought this guitar from www.rrdeals.com I do have one complaint. The guitar in the picture on the rrdeals and the www.jayturser.com websites, appears to have pickups that are mounted directly into the body. The guitar that I received instead has pickups that are mounted on black pickup frames. The pickup frames, in my opinion, are kind of ugly. I don't like their black color. I would have prefered the directly mounted pickups. But if I have to have frames, I may change these to chrome to match the rest of the hardware. I have a limited lifetime warranty on this guitar. Never dealt with Jay Turser. I had never even heard of them until a few weeks ago. I did have a difficult time trying to track down the type of wood the body is made out of. I finally was told, by a salesman that it's poplar. But I read that poplar is an ugly wood. Yet this finish, with it's honeyburst, reveals the texture of the wood and it's not ugly at all. Makes me wonder if this wood isn't something else instead. My ideal guitar would be basswood.......

I have been playing for over 14 years. I'm the guitarist for a progressive instrumental band called the Collaboration Element, online at www.collaborationelement.com. I will be gigging with this guitar. I will place more reviews of this guitar on my personal music theory website located at www.geocities.com/gregrjones. I have a love/hate relationship with the honeyburst. At certain angles, I hate the finish, thinking it looks too seventiesish. At other angles, the finish is beautiful in my eyes. If it were stolen, I'd opt to buy another color. When I get more money, I'll probably get an Ibanez. But they're not much better than this guitar. And you can only get the S-series seven string in one or two colors max.

I belive it was made this year. This my first 7 string guitar, and to tell you the truth, I just can't put the dame thing down. Its transperent red, two very high output hummbuckers, 24 frets, fixed bridge and sealed tuners. The body looks like an Ibanez S series, thin body and light.

Sound : 10
To me, it sounds great. I play alot of heavy metal. My setup starts like this: Morley volume pedal - Dunlop Wah - Ibanez Smash Box - Danelectro Cool Cat - Danelectro Echo - Fender Performer 1000 amp. Playing this guitar with the Ibanez Smash Box sounds real good. The only thing I don't like about the guitar is that the headstock is straight.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action was perfect, and was tuned perfectly(intonation wise). The hardware looks preey high quality, like the output jack is skewed in to the body, not mounted on a plate. Like I said earlier, the finish ia a beautiful transperent red.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I would play this guitar at a gig. I think that it could stand up to a beating. Of course I can never go to a gig with out my Jackson and My Les Paul.

Have not dealt with them..........

For the price I paid for the Guitar, Its a good sounding 7 string you could buy. Of course I would rather get an Ibanez 7 string but I can't afford that right now and wasn't sure if I like playing with a 7 string.
