Hollow body avoustic electric resonator. The actual model number is JT-900RES. It is a big enough guitar to have pretty good volume unplugged, unlike a lot of electric resonators, and it has both a piezo pickup and a magnetic pickup (a mini-humbucker, not the vintage lipstick specified on the web site). Volume and tone cobtrols, plus a blend control with a notch in the center. Set neck with rosewood fretboard, not sure what the body wood is. Made in China.

I use it with an AR Acoustic amp (and also unplugged). Unplugged the sound is good but nothing special, with pretty good volume due to the large body. Plugged in it shines. The mix of magnetic and piezo pickups sounds excellent, and the magnetic by itself is great for leads, it gives you a small volume boost and a more elctric type sound.
Like many acoustic/electrics, it can feed back when plugged in. Using an acoustic amp rather than an electric amp tames this problem, or adjusting the mix of the pickups can help a lot.
Unplugged, an 8, plugged in a 10, so on average....

The guitar was set up by the vendor, so it was very playable right out of the box, just tune up and play. It is a beautiful guitar with a cherry sunburst finish, body and neck binding. No complaints in this area.

There is evidence of cheap construction in the knobs, pots and the input jack. I suspect that some of these will need replacing over time. In this price range, this should be normal. I wish it had a second strap button, but again this is common on acostic/electrics.

Lifetime limited warranty. The web site is poor. There is not a lot of information, and some of what is there is inaccurate. They say there is a new web site under construction, so there is some hope for improvement.

I have a lot of guitars, but this is my first resonator. I had read online that most inexpensive resonators were pretty similar, so I looked for one with the features I wanted. The keys for me were that it was large enough to sound good unplugged, it had both magnetic and piezo pickups, which gave it some versatility plugged in, and thea the vendor set up each guitar. The warranty was also a plus.

the action for a resonator is real good it's easy to play
the pup buzzes
this was a 2nd so there are some flaws in the finish, but nothing that the $200.00 price wouldn't fix

No it will not withstand live playing
i don't know if the hardware will last
the finish should hold up
the wood around the jack is not supported so it's being destroyed by the weight of the cord

The Jay Turser Resonator guitar is also electric. I'm very happy with the flat black finish I ordered. With the very shiny chrome pieplate it looks great. I've purchaced a nut extender for it as well and the tuning stayed in key. I haven't quite figured out the volume and tone controls. The three controls are easy to find a nice mellow tone or a real steely sound but I'd like to find a happy medium.

The sound of the guitar is great. You can have either a very bright steely sound or a mellow sound. I play at church which adds a unique addition to the norm. I play through a Prime 60 watt acoustic amp which is plenty for my surroundings.

When I first played my resonator guitar, I was very impressed with the low action. I then put on a nut extender which raised the strings to play more slide with a bar. Wow!! Once tuned it stayed tuned after playing some pretty hard songs. If I had to mention any flaw, it would be the factory cut-outs. They didn't have a very good finish look to them.

I had to add a top strap button to play standing up, but everything else seems very strong and would last a long time. I take very good care of my instruments anyway...

I've been playing guitar since I was seven years old. I also play a one of a kind custom built electric acoustic made by Eric C. Brown which has dual-outputs and a very sweet birds-eye maple finish. It was supposed to be a dobro but turned into another project. I don't believe he's done another one like it because I have all the specs on it. Anyway, my overall rating on this Jay Turser guitar is that I truely enjoy it. The company I bought it from was very helpful in the purchase too.
