This has all been covered, but mine is the trans red and was a second. It is stamped used on the back of the headstock.
The reasons for this that I can see are several pin sized dark spots in the finish. Not noticable with out a hard look.
I paid $220.00 for it shiped to my hous. Not sure what kind of wood it is, but it has a nice grain that is seen through the finsih. There seems to be two models of this guitar and you can tell the diffrence by the placement of the neck. This one has a neck that doesn't go quite as far onto the body. I wounder if this is a defect, or just a change in the style. It doesn't seem to effect the sound of the guitar. I have played both and can't hear the diffrence.

This is a great sounding guitar that would be worth 5x the price.
It can go from brite to muddy with the tone knob, and gives about 3 diff levals of bite with the volume knob. It is a great blues/jazz ax! It can get dirty if you use some effects.
I play Guitar-Boss GT-6- Peavey classic 50/50 or stright to a fender vibrolux reverb. It works well in either setup. The only problem I have had with feedback is when using heavey flange of delay. Kind of a crying sound.
When running clean with the volume up the pup will breakup just slightly when strumed hard.
It may be the richest most full bottom end guitar that I own, my Bill lawrence may be a toss up.

I covered this in the first section.
Mine had no problem with the bridge, and was set perfect.
I have used the stewart Mac bridges before, and there is not much diff from this.
The roller bridges may allow bending of strings easier, but I think they take some of the beauty of the siound with them.
For the price it is more than worth what I paid.

Been playing a long time.
I love the rich sound it has the only thing I can compare it with is an old full body gretsch that I used to have (should have kept it)
This is a keeper.
I would have been happy t have paid $500.00 for it, more without the blems.
fine ax!

sounded great after the bridge was chucked away for a proper one (the one on it was crude and in the wrong place. it's a nice sound though, and plays well.

finish was pretty poor really but it was stamped used so maybe that is unfair to judge. like i say, the bridge was terribly made, the binding rounnd the f holes a bit sloppy too. be god to compare with one regarded as perfect not a second. no marks for this box to be fair.

it would be a good back up not the main man though. I just switched that fussy tailpiece for a divided frequensator style tailpiece. looks much more authentically old. the finish is pretty beautiful though, looks like it's out of the delta 50 years ago.

the finish & wood used is great, helps the look and sound alot. the hardwear is a bit on the basic side of basic though. but it's so cheap you can afford the $80 tailpiece revamp and $20 bridge. they go along way too ... to making it something special. it's a shame they didn't invest in a bit better quality in these areas. As it is now with the changes i'd be givig it 9's but judging it on how i got it... 7's max.

jay turser--i have no idea who he is--but he's making some cool ass stuff for really cheap--he must have those chinese boys working for pennies a day or something--poor folks--they do some fine work--given the materials--not first class wood but they make a first class style guitar--better quality than most so-called "jazz" players even need--to be truthful--

This is a archtop Jazz box made in China. Single humbucking pickup with volume and tone controls. It is a really nice looking guitar and I was amazed that you could buy a quality instrument for such a low price. This guitar has the tobacco sunbirst finish on it. Very nice looking guitar! The tuners look like a grover copy. They are very smooth. Guitar stays in tune well. The only thing that I am going to change is to put a better bridge on it.

This is a great sounding guitar! Very nice action and excellent fret work make it very easy to play. Very full sounding through an amp. When played accoustically it lacks bass response. If it sounded better unamplified I would give it 10. It sound great through an amp!

Set up was excellent. The only fault I can find with it is that the feet of the bridge don't exactly match the contour of the arched top. This can be fixed fairly easily. I am truly impressed by the tobacco sunburst paint on it. I cannot find one flaw in the paint. I have looked at many expensive Gibson, Heritage, Washburn and Ibanez guitars that are not as well sprayed as this one. Truly beautiful. The wood used on the archtop did not have alot of depth or grain to it but the paint job made up for. Electronics worked perfectly and sounded good. I wish the guitar had a little bit more sustain to it but I suspect after having the bridge feet contured a little that this will improve dramatically. Intonation is right on and the guitar stays in tune very well. It came with nickel round wounds will be replaced very soon. The end of the fret board need rounding and the pick guard is not radiused on the top side. The one that I really like about is the balance of the guitar. It seems that most of the weight of it is centered in the heel of the guitar. It hangs perfectly when standing. A minor point is that the "Monterrey" name is not centered on the headstock. The inlay work is very precise and the binding is excellent. Overall very tight and well put together guitar.

Appears to be built like a tank. The entire guitar has a coat of polyurethane that is very hard. I already bumped on the coffee table and there was not a mark on it. Strap buttons are very solid. It appears to be a very dependable solid guitar. The tuners are very smooth. I wish that they were a 14:1 ratio. I think that they one on it are 12:1.

I have owned many guitars in the past; Gibsons, Ibanez, Robins and some custom guitars. I bought this to play jazz standards on and it fits the bill! I can't believe that you can buy a guitar of this quality for $400.00. I am going to replace the bridge with a handfitted ebony bridge for now. I don't think that it needs anything else. You can order one from Stewart McDonald for $14.00. The pickup in it sounds really nice and balanced. It is definetly not a korean pickup. I think the Chinese copied at PAF exactly and put it in the guitar. If it were stolen I would buy another one in a second. It is a beautiful guitar that is hard to put down. I didn't get any black stuff on my fingers from playing it. I think for the money it deserves a "10". Even if you replaced the bridge, pickup and tuners you still would only add a $150.00 to the price and it would still be worth it. The construction is top notch.
