I bought this JT-146 jumbo archtop in the spring of 2006 as new. Came with a decent case, however this is my first electric, and I have no experience with how rugged top cases really are. Nice and cushy inside the case, which I will only use when I move. I play my JT-146 at home, and play a jazz and brasilian style with no pick. I have fooled around with a Hofner student acoustic for years and before that an Epihone 12 string...I play very clean, and like a fairly high string setting. I am also still an idiot with guitar knowledge, however have absorbed a lot in the last few months about electronics and mechanics. This is a Chinese made guitar, and looks and feels incredible. Looking very closely you will find little bits of finish unevenness around the connection from the neck to the top, right around the nut's side area. Humbucker pickups standard. My finish is tobacco sunburst. Pretty sure this baby is maple. Three way switch. I have altered both pickups for Seth Lovers, and had the nut opened to play D"addario 013-056. I think just changing an 012 to 013 and leaving the rest of the strings alone would probably be the best for this guitar. I run it thru a tube channel and into a small Fender 30 DSP Champion, using only it's reverb. Typically i play only the bridge pickup for the mellow sound (Did I get this wrong and I'm using the neck pickup?) and open it's tone control to between 1 and 3. All the pots are very quiet. I always have the guitar volume at full, but the amp volume just at a nice volume. This type of setting lets me hear what the Seth Lovers really do, which is plenty of detail and wonderful tone. When I brought this to Guitar Center here in San Francisco for the upgrade, the tech there mentioned that a lot of people were very curious about the guitar as he works on the main floor next to the guitars...they loved the looks of this fat jazz box. The guitar stays in tune.
Sound

I already mentioned the amp and preamp in the first paragraph. This guitar has a super rich sound with my new pickups, warm and pretty. I play along with my jazz records and usually like it's sound more than the records, except those Wes Mongomery octaves...! Lets see..dislikes....the nut where the cord attaches like to come loose now and then...I usually hand tighten it, wanting to keep metal tools away from the finish....Ahhh...the tuners stay in tune. It's not noisy on any settings. That slight uneven edge around the sides of the nut are only noticable at very close viewing, and without those subtles finish defects there this guitar would completely blow your mind for the $430. bucks including case price that I paid.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The bridge needed to be repositioned, which was nothing...pickups were pretty adjusted when I got it, but were fine tuned. Finish flaws I already mentioned...I just can't seem to follow this pages rules to well...Oh, I should mention that the inlay pieces look great, but at close inspection, they could have been fit to size better. Wood is high quality, and no rusted parts at all. The action was fine when I received it.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar will survive live playing. It's new this year of 2006, (at least to me) so I cannot tell you about finish durability, except that it is definitely not thin.

I never dealt with the company, although when I try to look up this JT-146 model on Jay Turser's home page, I can't find the JT-146....at least not two months ago....Now where did I put that warranty?

I love this guitar, enough that I bought a JT -142 that I plan to upgrade someday, to use to go to friends places, etc., so that my 146 Jumbo archtop jazzbox doesn't have to go anywhere. I would definitely buy this guitar again...hell...once your fingers have made the move....Go out and find a new one and check it out. Get a preamp like my ART tube channel....you'll love the sound....I bought a presonus preamp that didn't do anything. Asta Lumbago!
