2002 semi-hollowbody, S-style, two nice open humbuckers, beautiful neck dot rosewood fretboard and smooth set neck heel, 24 med. jumbo smooth frets, 24 3/4" scale. Very similar to PRS McCarty for over 2k less!
This is an add-on to my previous review. The one piece bridge was way too high and pulled toward the nut enough to where it could not be intonated. I bought a LP style stoptail and installed it back to just before the taper and up enough to give a 17 degree angle, 3" back from the bridge at a 1/8th" angle.

Sounds great, but different from before, in a good and unique way. It has a prettier feedback character with hints of sitar or xylophone. Plus I can do my backbridge tinkle tricks and feedback set-up. Perfect intonation now.
Action, Fit, & Finish

I got the guitar at a discount because of finish flaws, but it is still beautiful. I was finally able to lower the action by the stoptail addition. What a difference 1/8th inch makes!!
The f holes had no painted binding and look a little raw.

It will withstand live playing, but I'd bring a diffent guitar for backup and change. Like any hollow or semi-hollow, you have to be careful--they ARE more delicate.

I was customer support, seeing I'm here and can do it.

30 yrs. lots of stuff. I love the neck, heel, and humbuckers, 24 frets with 24 3/4" scale, and now, the sweet resonance of the 3" backbridge vibes. The balance has improved, but is still nice and light. The one piece bridge is a big mistake. Tune-o-matic with 3" space to stoptail would be the way to go, but the one piece has diffent hole spacing so can't be replace with a tuneomatic. Reducing the neck to body angle 5 degrees would also help. Right now, it is a great guitar, but if stolen, would probably get an Oscar Schmidt instead, for a semi-hollow low price quality guitar.

I play blues/rock/jazz thru various amps. Very nice sound, but can get plenty of crunch. I think it has kind of a Les Paul sound, real mellow, Great for rock and smooth blues. The bridge PU may be a little weak.

The slant on the neck keeps the pickups high. It may take a couple of adjustments to get what you want

I have 3 Jay Tursers all are reliable. I wouldn't take this out witout a hard case, just a little paranoid about the holow body.

Like I said above my Jay Tursers have been reliable.

Playing around 35 years for my own enjoyment. I would replace it because I love the looks of it. I have owned over 100 guitars over the years and I try to keep it at 5 guitars now.

2003 China, 24 fret, 25 1/2" scale, thin hollowbody w/ f-holes, 2 open humbuckers, all-in-one bridge, vol, tone, 3 way switch, MOP dot markers on rosewood fretboard, maple neck and body, pretty red w/painted cream binding on body, black headstock, nicely shaped. Nice neck up to contoured set body joint. Twin horn style. Chrome hardware and tuners (probably 12 to 1, barely adequate). Fairly light but a little neck heavy. Going to 18th fret and over is out of my usual range to the right but I get used to it. Too much back angle on neck putting bridge and bridge PU high, but still OK--just barely.

Blues/rock/metal thru full stack tube w/ variety of effects. Not noisy, very smooth sound, but can get plenty of crunch. LP type sound but even smoother and richer, a little less sustain, but good. No whammy stuff and it wouldn't be good for country--there's not a lot of twang even at full treble bridge. Great for crunchy rock and smooth blues.

I need to lower the bridge, but will only get maybe 3/16". Like I said the neck is angle too much from the body. Finish was slightly flawed, so I got a deal. It looks great, though. Really nice heel.

I don't think you should gig without a backup to this guitar. The bridge seems like it could pull out, and the body seems delicate. Don't play it too hard and don't drop it.

Lifetime warrantee, but I wouldn't count on it. I'd take it to a local place, if needed.

28 yrs. playing. assorted solid bodies (strat, tele, LP) and JT134, full stack, effects, combo. I got it because it looks a lot like a PRS McCarty hollowbody for 1/20th the price. I wouldn't have paid more for this guitar. Sounds and looks great, but the neck angle, all-in-one bridge, and delicacy of the body detract from a player's standpoint. I wouldn't replace it, I've got the JT134 which is better.

First off, there seems to be another JT-270 in the Jay Turser catagory. It would be listed as the JT-270NSF. This causes me confusion because the guitar the describe bears little consistancy the instrument I possess. The reason I say this is because the overall rating on a JT-270NSF...is a " 1 ". I have a JT-270 "F" and this review may reach a " 10 ". Made in China (I understand the bad vibes at first). Consist of 24 Frets. Slimmed semi-Hollow body (looks like a strat style with the fat cut off), black transparent laminated top with "F" Holes. Single Volume and Tone with 3-way switch. Two Humbuckers (neck and bridge). Tune-O-matic bridge. Sealed Tuners. Set neck with rosewood fretboard. Overall a nice looking guitar. Not a ton of features but necessity depends on the person.

In general, I play ROCK, but touch in all genres. So far, the guitar has held up very well in all aspects and more (Hey...It stays in tune). For instance, a few licks I play in my own songs in the past have come off very muddy when plucking and fretting rapidly (fingertapping) simultaneously with the fretting hand near the nut on the low E sting (even with my friends Gibson Les Paul Studio). With the JT-270F, I experienced the accuate sound of the lick for the first time on electric. Every note came across individual and precise. I am currently using a Line 6 Spider amp and an all Tube Peavey Rock Master Head into a Carvin 300 watt 4/12 cab. The guitar seems pretty quiet at rest and clear sound while playing. As far as a rich sound...OH MY GOD MAN.

The guitar was set up pretty well out the factory for my taste. Except the fact about the pickups. The neck has a steep slant off the body and the bridge is set pretty high. The action was set great, but the pickups were set to the floor (near 1" from strings). Played it first in the store at low levels. Sounded great. Got it home, put 300 watts behind it, Unbelievably muddy when playing chords. Took a screwdriver, jacked the mutha' humbucka' up (about a 1/4" from strings). Problem solved. Smilin' ever since.
Reliability/Durability

Feels reliable, looks reliable. Metal hardware, body seems solid enough for a few bumps and thumps (probably not the best road worthy building material but don't plan on driving nails with it). Everything is solid enough for me.
